San Jose restaurants prep for World Cup watch party

[00:00:00]How about today? Team USA is playing Australia in the next World Cup match.

[00:00:04]>> Yeah, this comes after a big win for Mexico last night. Of course, there's going to be a watch party uh down in San Jose. That's where we find our Kron 4's Will Tran joining us live. Uh he had a previously been dealing with all the cocktails. He wanted to, you know, keep an eye on all those. Now he's inside a restaurant probably trying to get one.

[00:00:26]>> I'll tell you what, it doesn't matter who plays, the biggest winner will be the Bay Area and more specifically the biggest winners from that are the restaurants next to San Pedro Square at the watch party because so much is going on. You can clearly see they are getting ready for another busy day. You know what? They are just shoulder to shoulder, not just outside, but also inside as well. In fact, the deliveries are coming fast and furious because they cannot keep up with the demand. We're talking about 30,000 people outside yesterday. And in the first day when this all went down, Sunny, can you come over here? Sunny is the owner and he is running around so frantically that Thank you for taking the time. How's it been for you as far as keeping up with the customers? You were talking about this is multiple Super Bowls.

[00:01:18]>> It is. It's been uh like five Super Bowls uh in one week uh starting Mexico, USA, Argentina, Colombia. Um it's been amazing. Absolutely amazing.

[00:01:29]>> How are you doing to make sure that you have enough supplies because you said all your experience probably did not prepare you for the shock >> Correct.

[00:01:37]>> of just the volume of people.

[00:01:39]>> It is, you know, volume we've been prepared inside from day one uh seeing the thousands that have shown up outside, that's been shocking. It's been amazing. The cultures that have shown up has been overwhelmingly great. Uh PD has been amazing helping us. Fire has been amazing helping us. The earthquakes have worked with us and uh we're really fortunate to have those people helping us control it.

[00:02:03]>> Are you having a difficult time getting your hands on supplies because your fellow restaurants, they also need it.

[00:02:09]Are you calling your vendors and saying I need this and they're like, "We're doing our best to get it to you."

[00:02:14]>> Yeah, that's exactly what they're doing.

[00:02:15]And they are, they're doing their best.

[00:02:17]Um I think we all learned from day one, uh you make a pivot and then you start ordering 2 days ahead. So, everything that we're receiving today is going to be for Saturday and Sunday.

[00:02:27]>> And [snorts] you're saying logistics it's even hard because once it gets going, the streets are blocked off in those trucks.

[00:02:32]>> Yeah, I mean parking just for our customers is an issue, but a semi pulling up with 46 kegs, that's a challenge.

[00:02:39]>> It's a good problem.

[00:02:41]>> It's a great problem. I wish we did this every year.

[00:02:43]>> Okay, very good. Thank you so much, Sunny. And you can see they're getting ready as go.

[00:02:48]The alcohol, obviously that is a big factor for people coming in to this saloon and then there's the food they say they have to prepare in advance, of course. And they're hope [snorts] people are patient because yes, you could be shoulder to shoulder here and he says he's used to it. It's the people outside and they are starting to gather because United States will be playing Australia.

[00:03:10]Those people will be outside and of course outside, the hope is they go inside and order, order, order and get as much as they possibly can as far as the money because he already talked about it. Imagine one Super Bowl is great and we had it a few months ago.
