It's Going to be a Strange Journey, Full of Books and Pulp!

[00:00:00]Hello fellow lovers of the liminal and the weird and welcome to another video by Liminal Spaces. I'm leaving in a couple of days to go on an epic road trip that will take me here from New Mexico all the way to Pittsburgh to PulpFest, which I'm super excited about.

[00:00:17]There's going to be so many content creators and fans of our corner of BookTube that are going to be there at PulpFest. It's going to be very exciting. On the way to PulpFest, I'm going to see family friends and also stop by Nick from The Book Graveyard.

[00:00:32]That's going to be a lot of fun. And then after PulpFest, I'm going to go see one of my friends in Virginia Beach, Virginia, which means I've gone all the way to the East Coast. And then I'm going to come back and as I come back through, I'm going to meet Jake from Pulp Mortem in Texas and we're hoping to have some kind of a meet up there in Texas because a lot of fans of this corner of BookTube are in Texas. So it'll be really fun to see them all, maybe do some book shopping, hang out, get drinks, whatever. It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm going to try to vlog this experience. I've never vlogged before, so I don't know how good I am at it, but I I've got the equipment. I got myself a lapel mic and I have my phone and uh we'll see how it goes. So yeah, expect to see some vlogging in the future. So it's going to be a crazy three four weeks here at the channel. This is going to be a long trip and one that I'm really looking forward to. I've recorded a bunch of stuff so that I have a buffer so that I can put stuff out. There's a couple of things coming up that if you'd like to read ahead, you can. Uh one of them is The Owl Service which has got to be the weirdest late 60s early 70s YA novel ever written.

[00:01:45]It's so interesting and it's a horror story based on the Mabinogion, which I think is amazing.

[00:01:55]So it's got this kind of different horror background than we're used to.

[00:01:59]Great book, quick read. I read it in about 3 hours. Really a lot of fun.

[00:02:04]Also, I read a story called The Mysteries of the Faceless King by Darrell Schweitzer.

[00:02:11]And I am taking this with me to PulpFest because I think Darrell Schweitzer's going to be there and I would like to meet him and have him sign this because it's probably one of the best short stories I've read all year and I've read a lot of good short stories.

[00:02:26]But yeah, that's that's coming up. I've also got a couple of book hauls. I'm doing a specific book haul of Heathen Editions, which is a specific publisher that's going to be a lot of fun. He makes beautiful books. And then I'm doing a book haul showing off books I got at this yard sale that was absolutely incredible.

[00:02:44]Really, really wonderful books at this yard sale.

[00:02:48]And while I'm on the road, I'm going to be reading some stuff. While I'm driving, I'm going to continue listening to The Lord of the Rings. I am now in Moria in The Fellowship of the Ring. So, I'm way behind on that, but I'm going to be driving so much that I think I will catch up with the other two. Of course, I'm going to do The Return of the King and The Two Towers as as I'm driving.

[00:03:11]So, I will uh I will be making those videos on the road, I think. I'm also going to be reading The Three Imposters by Arthur Machen. I know I keep saying this and the video hasn't shown up yet. This is a really interesting collection of novellas and Machen was heavily inspired by Stevenson who did uh New Tales of New Tales of the Arabian Nights, which featured this kind of frame story within a frame story within a frame story, which of course Stevenson was inspired by the actual Arabian Nights. But uh yeah, so there's there's a lot of levels to this and Sheridan from Heathen Editions is working on a Heathen Edition of this right now because it's kind of a hard book to find. So, that's what I planned to be doing on the road. I'm looking forward to see what I get from PulpFest. I'm not going in with anything in mind. I'm just going to go look around and see what strikes me at the time. But, I'm so excited. All right, I hope to see a chunk of you at PulpFest and I'll see you on the next one.
