First Alert Forecast: Weekend Warm Up

[00:00:00]And we're looking at another coolish day, not as cool as the past couple of days because we have a warming trend eventually coming our way. That'll happen more as we go through the next couple of days. So, a live look over downtown LA where we currently have some clouds. Temperatures are about 61° right now in downtown. But as we go into tomorrow, we're looking at temperatures reaching into about the low 70s. So, a little bit warmer than today, but still cool than average for this time of year.

[00:00:23]As we get into Saturday and Sunday though, we turn things around. We start off maybe with some patchy fog. We quickly clear out and we're going to be on a warming trend. So, let me show you what we are going to be looking at as we go through the next couple of hours.

[00:00:34]We're going to start with Futurecast first. This is 6:00 in the morning for tomorrow. You'll notice we have plenty of clouds out there. And yes, if you look toward Orange County, do you see that little spot of green? An indication that we'll likely have some spotty drizzle. Don't necessarily read that by the way as Orange County only getting drizzle. It's just showing us that there's a possibility is out there for any of the lower elevations. Now, as we go through the day, you'll see the clouds generally do clear out, but lingering into the afternoon, 4:00, we might start off with some clouds up against some of our foothill locations and into the Inland Empire. I have a feeling this might be overdoing the cloud coverage just a little bit, but still a sign that we'll have clouds lingering inland while closer to the coastline, we've got more sunshine. Now, as we go from Friday into Saturday, things start to change. Take a look at what the cloud deck looks like for the early morning hours. It's not all of the lower elevations now. It's just a few patches of fog and low cloud cover over parts of Orange County extending into the basin. Maybe a little hint of that for the San Fernando Valley as well. And maybe a little hint for the IE, but that should all clear out very quickly. And that is part of the reason why Saturday is looking like a warmer day in comparison to what we've had over the past couple of days. So, for tomorrow, expect temperatures to be a little bit warmer than today, 71 in downtown LA as I was showing you, 72 in Van Nuys, 73 West Covina, 71 Irvine, 73 in Lake Elsinore, and in Hemet. And as we go through the next couple of days, the warming trend is being driven by this area of low pressure finally leaving.

[00:01:57]It's cut off in the jet stream. It's been kind of sitting over northern California over the past couple of days.

[00:02:02]It's brought some rain to the northern part of the state. It's brought some snow to the Sierra. For us, we've mainly seen the cloud cover and the spotty drizzle, but heading into essentially the weekend, it's gone. It lifts away.

[00:02:12]We do have an area of low pressure that's coming in off the Gulf of Alaska, but I think that's about as close it's going to get as where you're seeing it right here. High pressure over the center of the country that's been bringing some pretty hot temperatures to the the central plains will remain in that location, but some of the warm temperatures might start spilling west a little bit as we head into the start of next week. And then it's a big question on whether or not we're going to see additional high pressure just kind of building over the west coast. That could drive temperatures warmer for the second half of the week, but for right now, we are just going to kind of level temperatures as we head into the second half of the week. Essentially, as you look at the 7-day forecast, consider some of these temperatures a minimum.

[00:02:48]So, let me show you what we're talking about. Basins on top, coastlines down below. Tomorrow, some more spotty drizzles possible. As we get into Saturday, it's just some patchy fog potentially, but the rest of the day should be plenty sunny and warmer. As we get into next week, upper 70s to low 80s. So, as you see the Wednesday Thursday time frame here, we're likely going to see at least the low 80s. We're still trying to figure out if it's going to be warmer than that, but yeah, low 80s is I'm expecting to come our way as we get into Wednesday and Thursday.

[00:03:14]Valleys are on top, I E forecast is down below. You do see the breezy conditions for tomorrow. We will start off with some clouds. The clouds may linger into the afternoon, but for Saturday, different story. Plenty of sunshine later on. More sunshine getting into next week with temperatures continuing to warm up. High desert on top, low desert forecast down below. Windy for tomorrow, breezy though for Saturday.

[00:03:38]And for the mountains, no real shower chances now over the next few days, but maybe some spotty drizzle tomorrow morning. More sunshine and drier conditions for the weekend, and then warmer temperatures coming our way as we head into next week.
