Doug Bradley, the actor famous for playing Pinhead in the Hellraiser franchise, shares that The Innocents (1961), a BBC adaptation of Henry James' 'The Turn of the Screw,' was the first film that genuinely scared him as a child. He describes it as a brilliant piece of grown-up horror that he recommends heartily to everyone, noting that it terrified him then and still holds up as a masterpiece of psychological horror.

Doug Bradley: “The Innocents Was the First Film That Truly Scared Me.”Added:
And I think the first time a movie scared me was watching The Innocents on it would be on the BBC probably shortly after it came out.
And I think it's it's either 61 or 62 release, so it would be maybe a year after that. And I've seen it again subsequently. I saw it again as as a grown-up and was delighted to realize that I had I think it's it's a great movie. I would recommend I do recommend it heartily to anyone and everyone. But that's it I mean it's based on Henry James' Turn of the Screw. So it's it is a ghost story and really really scared me.
