MPC SAMPLE + NINTENDO SWITCH (Super Mario World!!!)Added:
What up, y'all? I'm Datsun. Today, we're going to be sampling the Nintendo Switch straight into the MPC sample. I've been playing the OG Super Mario World game a lot lately. I played it a ton in the '90s.
But rediscovering it has just sparked something in me recently that I was like, "Damn, I really got to sample the castle theme." So, we're going to try chopping something up here and see where we get with it.
>> Let's just jump right in.
I hope it records this.
How long does it record for?
This Dude. Dude.
Listen up.
Wait, is there a normalize? I know you're saying normalize, but is there even a normalize? I think I'd have to just resample. Yeah, I wish I recorded it louder, to be honest. It's an update 1.3. Okay, hold up. Should we just update it right now? USB-C via laptop.
Okay, I'm going to do that then on my other computer here. Uh bro, we're doing this right now. Okay, I just need a USB-C cable. Is it long enough? That's what she said.
Transferring update to your device. This became an update tutorial MPC sample firmware 1.3. Welcome to my YouTube channel. So, the way you update Yeah, that's sick. Thanks, y'all. I knew how to do this all along. I'm expert on all things MPC sample. So Listen up.
>> [music] >> Well, it's going to be a bit of a to remember, but sample packs. I'm using my own drum packs always, just so you know. I love using my own drums. It's so fulfilling. I don't think I put sun breaks on here yet, so I'm going to go back into create knowledge and just >> [music] >> I'm going to get flak.
>> Everywhere I post are like, "Dude, all I hear is boom bap on them MPC sample.
Make something else." And it's like, "But sorry." I think we're allowed to make whatever we want to make. You know what I'm saying, y'all? Make whatever you're inspired to make. I think that's the best way to go about it. Sometimes I'm inspired to make some [ __ ] that is not at all boom bap, you know? But when I sit behind the MPC sample, that's what I'm inspired to make.
No.
Dude, that's something [clears throat] that I've been [ __ ] losing my mind over is if I accidentally change the chop type, I lose the entire manual chop. We're back in it.
>> [laughter] [music] >> Happens to the best of us, man. It's okay. I'll wait until after the stream to cry about it. Let's see.
>> [music] >> Oh, one thing I'm going to do with this chop, instead of going too crazy, I will >> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> We're on that one, and then I'm going to double the sequence. Okay, so we're at 16 bars. Take off record quantize and just try to mess around with the chop here.
>> [music] >> Okay, I'm going to layer something in.
Where's that?
>> [music] [music] >> You know what, actually might not be a bad idea.
Filter this the other way.
I feel like that might not be >> [music] [music] [music] [singing] [music] >> Oh, [ __ ] I'm not going to grab them cuz it adds some crazy percussion. I just wanted to see Oh, here we go.
Yep, that was pretty good one.
It cuz I'm going to have to cut around the music here. You know what I'm saying? Let's just see what I got here.
It's a multitasking channel. 10 productivity hacks that are total game changer for your beat making. One, don't ask questions.
>> [laughter] >> That's a pretty good one.
This one's not as good, so I'm going to keep That's pretty cool.
There we go. I like that.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Oh, dude. That's kind of sick. Oh my god, I got to get that right. Almost. I really like that, though. Little choppier section. We're getting this.
Almost. Almost. Almost. I got to get that Yep, sometimes it be like that.
>> [laughter] >> I you're funny, man. Oh my goodness, this one's tough, bro. I want to get it, though. I want to get it. I'm so close.
I'm getting the pattern now. I'm really getting close. I promise.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> And I'm going to roll out the reverb.
Most surface level breakdown of the process here. We started with this sample.
And filtered out the bottom end, did the chop.
You know, and just kind of messed around with that chop, and then I pitched down a drum break of mine from create knowledge. I just love using my own drum breaks. If you don't make your own breaks, I highly encourage you to do so. It's really fun to tap in on, you know, something that you already made.
But if you don't feel like making your own breaks, you can always tap in with mine.
And then, we did the chop, the drums. I filtered out the bottom end because I wanted some actual bass.
So, this is off the OP-1 field.
And then, another layer.
>> [music] >> Kind of this like random guitar pluck, another layer from the OP.
A couple of my And then, this.
>> [music] >> So, we ended up actually just taking the beginning.
And lastly, this vocal arpeggiator thing I did in the OP-1 field.
And it's pretty sick when you put it all together, you have some kind of a beat.
So, I'm going to mute everything but the sample here. Something like that. I think I'm going to bring everything in off mute groups. Why don't I just do it that way, actually?
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> I really vibe with that heavy. I was not expecting it to turn out this way. There are things with it that I sometimes get frustrated with, but that's with all samplers that have limitations to them, you know? You run into things where you're like, "Oh, [ __ ] dude." You know, like I hit the chop mode again, and then I You know what I'm saying? So, I think that if you're okay with hitting hurdles through limitations, I feel like you can learn to love any sampler, you know? You can learn to love any of these these units. So, uh for me, it's one of those things where I definitely thrive with limitations [music] uh just because it forces me to think way different than I'm I'm used to in a way, you know? Like And when I say I'm used to, like when we are just sitting on a computer in a DAW, [music] or you can do anything. I want to take uh stems out of this. I want to pull the drums out of this track, or just you know, all that. So, I make beats on everything. I've said it many times before, and it's kind of a boring answer, but I really it's whatever I'm inspired by. In the moment, I'm like, "Ah, you know what? I feel like making a beat on this, or I feel like doing it on the OP-1 XY, or whatever, you know?"
Y'all, that was so much fun. I really vibe with how that beat turned out. If I didn't already say it, I really vibe with how that beat [music] turned out.
>> know in the comments, did you vibe with it? What else do you want to see me do?
If you dig the drum sounds, obviously from my own sample pack, crate knowledge. Go grab a pack if you haven't already. Daydreams is a free sample pack. So much more to discover on my website, dassomusic.com. Until next time, have a great day. Peace.
