Flavors of the Game with Food Network's Bobby Flay: 🇧🇷 Brazil vs. Morocco 🇲🇦

[00:00:02]Hey everybody, I'm Bobby Fle here in New York City at my friend Chef Sam Hazen's restaurant, Paladino Steak and Seafood with some World Cup cuisine matchups.

[00:00:16]All right, guys. So, we have the tastiest treat in the group stages, and that is Brazil against Morocco. Now, we know Brazil, of course, I mean, five-time World Cup champions. And then you have Morocco who I think became everyone's sweethearts after the last World Cup when they finished fourth. Of course, made it to the semi-finals. So now I want to see how they match up on the plate.

[00:00:37]>> All right, >> we have Brazil here.

[00:00:38]>> Okay, >> so we we got a beautiful picana, which is the top sirloin with the Malho sauce.

[00:00:46]And this is for >> Oh, for the goat himself.

[00:00:49]>> The best ever.

[00:00:52]>> Fire has a little kick to it. To me, that's key for for a good steak always.

[00:00:57]You want that contrast of texture. You want that crustiness on the outside >> and then, you know, the juiciness in the middle. It kind of sears it in.

[00:01:03]Beautifully cooked.

[00:01:04]>> All right. Well, now we're going to bring out Brazil's opponent and that, of course, is Morocco.

[00:01:09]>> When you think about Morocco, you think about, you know, things like, you know, couscous and saffron and, you know, tons of like big flavors, preserved lemons and things like that, but like very, very pungent cuisine. ta, slowcooked things, sometimes quick cooked things, lots of fresh mint, all those things that kind of come into play. Love the food of Morocco.

[00:01:30]>> For the next dish, >> we have this amazing Moroccan dish called zaluk and their Moroccan bread is called coups, >> right? Thank you, chef.

[00:01:43]>> Dip it. Dip it.

[00:01:45]>> Yes. It also like builds flavor over time. I feel like >> for an eggplant dip like this, you either cook it on top of the grill so you get some smokiness in the eggplant as well >> and then you can mix it with things like tomatoes and herbs and spices and things like that.

[00:01:59]>> Brazil versus Morocco. Who wins on the plate?

[00:02:03]>> I think it's harder to make food taste delicious if it's just vegetables.

[00:02:08]>> Yeah.

[00:02:08]>> I mean, it's beef versus eggplant.

[00:02:10]>> Yeah. I'm always into a dip and the spice to the dip was really unexpected.

[00:02:16]Um, but for flavor, I think the steak wins for me. All right, Bobby. So, on the pitch now, who would you pick as a winner?

[00:02:23]>> I mean, I think I'm going to have to go with Brazil, >> of course.

[00:02:26]>> I feel the spirit of Pelle coming back and lifting it up.
