I Revisited SayIntentions in 2026...And Brought BACKUP!
Added:Last night I was streaming from Zurich to Bristol on Vatsim when my internet connection decided it had other ideas.
So today we're flying the exact same route from Zurich to Bristol. But this time we're going to use Say Intentions AI air traffic control from gate to gate to see how it's shaping up in 2026. And because Wing Control have sent over their Airbus radio management panel, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to put that through its paces as well.
So we have three objectives for today.
Number one, finally complete the Zurich to Bristol flight for the virtual airline. Number two, check in with Say intentions in 2026. And number three, see if the Wing Control R&P can keep up with all of those radio frequency changes along the way. We need to thank the team at Sayentions for giving us access to their system to make this video. And of course, thanks to Wind Control for sending out their RMP.
Anyway, let's jump in and get our Airbus started and get ourselves back to Bristol.
Good. We are here in our beloved Fenix A320. So, let's get her fired up. Up to the top panel we go. Battery one on.
Battery 2 on. We're going to take the external power and we're going to put our Navan logo lights to the on position to let people know that the plane has power into it. We're going to arm the emergency lights. We're going to put the no smoking lights to on. We'll leave the seat belts to off because we're going to refuel in a minute. We'll turn on the crew supply and we'll turn on the ground recorder and we'll give it a little test while we're here. Good. Uh, let's get the navs on. One, two, three. That'll do us for the minute into the EFB. Let's tap to import. And there we go. Zurich back to Bristol. We've got 20 minutes until our scheduled offblocks time.

Now, if we go to the load the aircraft and then we can use GSX boarding and refueling and we can get going. We've got 180 passengers on board today. So, a full house uh 2 1/2 tons of cargo and 6.7 tons of fuel. All right, Q&H here in Zurich is 1018 and we need to get in contact with ATC to get our clearance over to Bristol.
So, let's see what intentions has got in store for us. And of course that means using our fancy pants new RMP panel from Wing Control. So first thing we're going to do is turn it on. We've got a little kind of lift and uh move switch, which is really cool. So that's coming on now.
If it's not quite as bright as you want, you can brighten up the radio panel um using this dial here. And you see how that kind of interacts directly with the hardware itself. That is really, really cool indeed. Uh I'm going to leave it about there. That looks pretty good.
Hopefully you all can see it as well. If I leave the sim looking at the RMP here, um you can also then see hopefully what happens as I use the physical device over here. So according to say intentions, um luckily they provide a piece of software here, their little app and it tells us that we are not tuned to where we need to be tuned. So we need to tune to 121 decimal 93, hence it's in red. So let's do that now. 121 decimal 93 0. Now if we press the little green arrow, that should switch us over. Yes, it does. So, there's really not an awful lot more they can do with it. So, we want to go 1 2 1 uh 9 0 5 and we are in. There we go. So far, the R&P is feeling really good. You kind of got the dial here that works all and it's divided into two sections. You've got a lower ring which does kind of the uh number before the decimal place. Then you've got an upper ring which does the part of the frequency after the decimal place. But it feels really really nice indeed. And crucially crucially it means that if you're say you know busy and you're doing this, you're doing that and you get an ATC instruction to change frequency, you don't have to move your view and look all the way down here while trying to hand fly or busy trying to do other stuff. you can just do it while looking at the actual hardware itself and move on. Very nice indeed.
All right, plane is loaded. There's that ding and you can see actually Zurich's looking quite nice and busy with what you would expect to see in terms of airlines. You're seeing some local carriers around the place which is really nice. This is all part of say intentions living world I believe. Um, so how it works is you kind of get real world traffic schedules and you even like down to day of the week you'll see a certain plane flying a certain schedule and of course it links into FSLTL so you can get all the liveries and it's all controlled by AI. It's really cool. It's not just um like a delayed version of real world. This is AI controlling real world inspired traffic. It's very cool. APU is fired.

It just felt like with tower I had to be a little bit more proactive and kind of be like, you know, I'm over here guys, you know. >> Good afternoon to you. Yeah, there's going to be a lot of radio switching I fancy because we're coming all the way from Zurich, which is down here.
Obviously, this is a VATSim map and we're not on VATSim, so don't worry about that. But we're going to be obviously flying all the way from Zurich across France over to UK airspace and then into Bristol. If you look around in the whole of the UK right now, if we ignore Dublin, um we've got Leeds Approach and Heathrow Ground and Tower. That's it. Everything else in the UK right now is Unicom. Even, you know, Bristol there's absolutely nothing on. You don't often get stuff in Bristol, but sometimes you can. So, that's kind of where the appeal of something like say intentions would come into play. There is a thing you can do um which we're not going to do today because we're doing a gatetogate flight with Say intentions today. But there is a thing you can do is that when you get chucked over to Unicom on Vatim, you can then hand over to Say Intentions and Say Intentions will run the flight for you. Um however, you do need to make sure that what you're doing based on what Say Intentions is telling you to do is not going to conflict with anyone else on Uniccom. Um so there's a little bit more to consider there. Maybe we'll do a video on that actually as our next say intentions video cuz that'd be quite an interesting thing to do. Look at those contrails. But actually, you almost see more contrails when you're using Say Intentions than you do with that sim cuz now we've got the uh GFX plugin from Try Try Sim. We're seeing um contrails left and right. That looks like a really full sky. Really full. How cool is that? The question still remains, doesn't it?
Where am I going to put this longterm?
Because I don't know if you saw the video a few weeks ago, I made like a desk mountable uh A320 setup using like all the wind control stuff, and it's amazing. Trouble is, there's not an obvious place for me to mount this. Um, and if I were to get the TCS unit as well in time, that's yet another thing that I need to find a home for. Um, the more I think about this, the more I'm starting to kind of accept that maybe I might need to build a pedestal. Maybe not a full cockpit, you know, not trying to build anything like that yet, but maybe some sort of like MDF pedestal that I can have off to my side here that can just house the whole lot. Um, well then I don't know what I can do with my AGP. Maybe I'll need to do I've got the AGP. I've got the screen. Oh, I don't know. It's like it never ends. Um, basically it's all wind controls fault and if they could stop releasing all this hardware, I wouldn't need to build any of this. That's a video title there, isn't it? I I think honestly GFX from try sim is worth the $20 pounds whatever it is alone just for the contrails. We've done a video all about it. Um and I'd encourage you to watch it, but if you're a say intentions a VAT simmer or whatever and you want the skies to light up the contrails, yes, you could argue the sim should do it by default, but it doesn't and we are where we are. And if you want to fix that, 20 quid basically solves it and you get a load of other cool weather effects. I like it a lot.

>> Good afternoon. Okay, so while we are at cruise idly sipping on coffee, we should probably talk about this fell here. Um, the wind control R&P panel. Um, it's been really really nice so far to use and it's been getting a good workout of course because saying intentions doesn't just hand you off to Unicom once you leave the runway. It's actually keeping you working throughout the flight changing frequencies to different control spaces. We we're now on Paris control and soon London control, no doubt. And uh yeah, very very nice to use indeed. The dials got a really nice sort of clicky action to it. Liking that a lot. And it's a full scale device. The screen quality is fantastic. The button presses, they feel nice and tactile.
Even the little switch here is like an onoff switch. Um and you don't just flick it. You have to kind of like lift the switch and then move it and then drop it back down. All very very nice indeed.

So it's nice to have that now rather than, you know, once we're kind of over Swinden. So that's that's good. Good on say intentions for that. Um I'm still not entirely sure what the runway is going to be. Obviously, we've got the the the star, but no clue on what the runway is going to be as of yet, nor what the transition is going to be, cuz of course into Bristol. Let me show you what we have here uh into 27 is what we're expecting. But of course, you've got the BRRI 1 and the Barri 2 transition. Uh Barri1 is probably what we would take. But normally coming into 27, it'd be unusual to fly all the way out to the Barri Way point and then kind of tear drop back out just to come in again. It would be more typical to get vectors from somewhere like uh Pomax up here and then come down and then intercept the final. So it' be interesting to see what say intentions does when it gets to that point in the flight.

Okay, what was it? 133 decimal 18.
There we go. Nice and easy. I always like it when the frequencies are close to the one that's already in your standby. It always makes me so happy.
Under control not 270 x-ray flight level 340 identified.
>> Yeah. So we are 75 miles or 74 miles now from our top of descent. So we need to enter our destination data. So what I like to do is go over here. Uh we are expecting runway 27 into Bristol. That's already in. Let's apply the weather and we're going to get our weights to start with. So, back over to the MCDU.
Go over to the init page. Go to init page B. So, press the right arrow. And you can see that we have 61 tons of zero fuel weight. So, that's the weight of the aircraft, the passengers, the luggage with no fuel. And we're going to have 2.9 tons of fuel on board when we land. So, that's going to make a total of 63.9 tons. So, if we pop that into here, 63.9.
You can see that it's predicting that we're going to fly off the end of the runway if we lose if we use the low auto break. If we turn that into medium, we're fine. So, we're going to use medium auto break to get ourselves into Bristol. As for the destination data for Bristol that the MCDU wants, uh, we are currently have winds at Bristol of 260 at 13. So, performance page, then we do next phase, next phase until we get to the approach. Uh, the Q&H at Bristol is 1017.
1 0 1 7. Pop that in there. Temperature is 14 and the wind is 260 at 13.
14 260 for the wind. And the minimums into Bristol according to the charts is what are we at? 701 801 801 ft. So we'll pop that in the barrerow and that is our destination data done. We just need to keep an eye now cuz our top of descent is rapidly approaching 60 mi. So it's going to be interesting to see if say intentions is on the ball and basically tells us to descend and just keeps us going down nicely all the way home. As for the arrival into Bristol, looking at the Say intentions app a moment ago, it said we can expect runway 27 on the ILSK1 Bravo via the BRRI1 transition.
So, we'll get that one in. So, you can see the plan is that we're basically going to fly over the airfield at about what's that 3,000 ft. Then we're going to head back out and teardrop our way around and back in for runway 27.
Usually, if I was on Unicom or even if I've had Bristol Radar online before, they will just vector you out. So you just kind of intercept the ILS and come straight in rather than going all the way to the airfield and then back out again. We'll see what it does. I suspect I suspect it will have us do the whole track, but we'll see.

That's interesting. It's popped up again. Why does it keep popping up? Stop popping up. Ah, say intentions seems pretty on the ball though, so far, doesn't it? Like, we didn't have to ask for descent or anything. I always get worried with that. I'm like, are we just going to sail past the top of descent marker and then we're just going to be like, so what's happening? Uh, that was that was pretty good, I would say. Oh, I hope I do a good landing into Bristol. I always find, right, with these sort of flight videos, um, I always find there's so much pressure on the landing. Like, if I do a stream and we do a bad landing, couldn't care less. It's just like, yeah, whatever. But we all will have a good laugh about it and we move on. But basically, I've set aside today, I've set aside many hours to do this video, get everything set up. I'm going to do the edit. I'm going to do the thumbnail. There's a whole process that goes into it. And if I mess up the landing, I kind of feel like, well, the whole thing was just pointless. Um, so I need to be a bit more chill about landings on videos. There's this weird pressure. It feels like the early days when I would do streams. Like the first well many streams that I did, I would always, you know, feel excited about the takeoff and the departure and then it would suddenly dawn on me that now I've committed myself to landing in front of everybody and it would stress me out to no end. I would legitimately get nervous about it um in the early days of the stream. Uh whereas now I've gotten to the point where I don't care. So hopefully I can get to the same point with uh pre-recorded videos. We'll see.

Right. We'll figure out what that means by looking at the charts. Um, so plan is we're going to go from Asham to Pomax to the BRRI waypoint. Then we're going to go to Delta 282 hotel.

All right, as you can see here, we are coming right into Bristol. You can see it just over there. So, in a moment, we're going to make a turn to the left, head on out like a teardrop, and then come back in around on the ILS. Uh Q&H1017 is in. We're just going to descend ourselves down with the manage mode to 2,500 ft, which is the altitude we need to be at to intercept the ILS for 27. All right, that's us almost over Bristol. So, we should start to go around to the left about now.
Okay, good. We are now heading away from the airport and in a moment, as you can tell, if you look at the ND, we've got our turn back onto final. And you can just see the glide slope about to hopefully come above us. There's a 2,500 uh radio altimeter call out.

Everything's going all right. We've got our turn just about to start now. And then we will uh think about doing a lovely landing for you all. And here we are turning on to final for runway 27 into Bristol. But not for the first time because there's no easy way to put this.
I uh I messed up. Turns out that when flying a star into Bristol, it's probably not the ideal time to play around with the buttons and the dials on your shiny new toy you've got in for review. At some point during the arrival, I managed to switch frequencies and then put myself back onto a completely wrong frequency, carrying on blissfully unaware that I'd effectively disconnected myself from ATC. I must admit, I did wonder why Bristol Radar hadn't contacted me to hand me over to tower. I eventually realized things weren't right about 5 miles out from touchdown. spotted the mistake, returned to the correct frequency and advised intentions that I'd be going around.
Now, to its credit, it handled the situation pretty well. The goaround was acknowledged. I was then sent out over the 7 Eststerie, given a couple of turns, and then I was cleared back onto the approach uh for 27 via the BRRI1 transition. We lined ourselves up for runway 27 to have another go at it. And to make up for the error in my ways, I'll try and give you a super smooth arrival into Bristol. Sound fair? Okay, come on. Let's have a look. Bristol Tower not 207 X-ray on a six mile final for 27.

Try and do a nice landing for you all after my uh errors by fiddling around with this radio panel that I shouldn't have been fiddling around with. I should have been flying the plane, but I was like, "Oo, new shiny thing.

Oh man, I need to learn when is an appropriate time to fiddle with a new product that I'm reviewing. You know, on the ground, maybe at the gate is probably more appropriate than when you're flying the approach, but that's neither here nor there. We did a good landing. We made up for it. Anyway, guys, we made it to Bristol, albeit just um I can't believe I accidentally input the wrong frequency into the RMP. That was entirely my fault. I shouldn't have been fiddling with it cuz I was on the right frequency. Um I was just basically just a bit kind of idly bored in the descent and I started fiddling around with frequencies just to kind of get a sense of how the device feels and the device feels lovely. It's really really good.
Just make sure that you are actually tuned to the correct frequency and don't make the same mistake I did uh on the way into Bristol here. That was rather unfortunate indeed. Um but yeah, the actual device brilliant. Feels lovely in the hand. a really nice sort of clicky action as you move the frequencies and all the buttons feel nice, the screens are nice. It's lovely. Um, say intentions as well really great to catch up with Say Tentions. Um, kind of interesting to give it a little bit of a test by throwing a an unscheduled goaround at it, but again, totally my fault and it kind of just sent us out over the uh, River 7 for a little bit, the 73.
Um, then it kind of gave us a couple of turns and then cleared me for the BRRI1 transition ILS27. I just did a direct two back to uh the BRRI waypoint at Bristol and then out we went again and had another go. So it's uh quite interesting to try that one out. It's uh it's I would say the only only little problem with it was was when we were at Zurich there was a little bit of confusion about um you know us lining up on the runway and being cleared to take off. I feel like I had to just give it a little bit of a nudge and I feel like I had to do the same thing at Manchester the last time I tried it. So maybe that's just a little area that say intentions can improve on. Otherwise though it's been pretty flawless. It's been hard to uh hard to fault it. And and again, it's doesn't really feel like it's on rails. Like I've I've just been speaking quite naturally. My uh phraseology hasn't particularly been brilliant all the way through the flight and it's it's worked out. It's picked it up. It kind of feels like, you know, it's got that chat GPTness about it in that you can talk utter nonsense to chat GPT, make spelling mistakes, grammar errors all over the place. It will figure it out. It kind of gives me that sort of same feeling. Um very, very cool indeed. Can't wait to see where it goes.
really I again as as a vat simmer um you could say why do you even care about say intentions well I think it's a really interesting use of AI really interesting use of AI so always keen to see what they're up to and see how the product is progressing cuz it does develop at an incredible pace I really like this living world thing like I say landing into Bristol right now it feels like I'm getting ready to go on holiday cuz you always see jet 2 holiday planes like that of Bristol Easy Jets Ryan Air really really nice um thank you to say intentions for letting us have access to the system to make the video and thank you of course to win control for letting us have the RMP to review on the channel.
