Effective character development in television requires maintaining internal consistency, where character actions should align with established personality traits and motivations; when characters behave inconsistently with their established traits (such as Nate failing to defend himself despite previous displays of physical strength, or Rue willingly digging a hole to her neck without resistance), it undermines audience engagement and narrative credibility.

Euphoria Season 3 Episode 5 is Completely Unhinged…Added:
Episode five of Euphoria is out and let me tell you things are still cra lowkey crazier than before. There's some We see some very explicit content on our screens. Some stuff I can't even say. I can't even show you. I can't even express how crazy it is. Cuz YouTube would ban me from their platforms if I told you what happened on the screen.
There is some good stuff here. Not as good as last week, but still relatively good. Let's go through it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. character by character. Before we do that though, make sure to like and subscribe. The first character we want to talk about is Lexi. Some context we'll talk about more later on. Maddie tells Lexi to put Cassie in an audition for LA Nights, the show that Lexi's working on. And Cassie's audition goes actually very well. Cassie gets the job, a small little role on LA Nights, but still she's going to be on TV in an actual role starting her career hopefully going up from there. We'll see what happens afterwards. But of course, Lexi is frustrated. She feels like she worked so hard to be where she's at, working on LA nights, and all Cassie had to do was one little audition that Lexi gave to her cuz Maddie forced her to do so. And all of a sudden, she shouldn't be on a nationwide show. We saw people around her while they were watching Cash's audition tape say, "Wow, Lexi, that's your sister? That's crazy. You both look nothing alike." showing parallels to what we saw in high school where all the guys were after Cassie and Lexi was just in the sidelines. Even though she's played by Ma Abatile, someone who looks like Ma Abatile. I mean, she's not someone ugly. She's not someone who should ever feel bad about her looks, but I guess just compared to Cassie compared to Sydney Sweeney next to her, Mod Abot just kind of looks wise just doesn't compare to some people, some aspects. I'm intrigued on seeing what happens there. But moving on from Lexi to Nate. Nate is down so bad. Cassie loved Nate in a previous episode.
They're still married for some reason.
We see Nate call Cassie asking for money, saying that he's happy that she's doing Only Fans, that she's doing something for money. Anything for money.
He's so down bad low that he'll be okay if Cassie literally [ __ ] someone else for Only Fans or anything like that.
He's okay with anything and everything as long as they get the money. And of course, he missed a payment uh for the million dollars he owes. So, we see another man break into their house, attack Nate, and take off one of his fingers. This time, not on the foot, but an actual hand. Not a toe, but I think it was a ring finger. They took off one of his ring fingers, and he's just he's taking it like a champ, I guess. I don't know why he didn't fight back. In the previous season, we saw Nate as this strong big man who wasn't afraid of physical confrontation. Man, woman, anyone dating Matt, Maddie, he strangled Maddie for a little bit there. Why would he not attack the person who came to attack him back? I don't know why he wasn't doing some self-defense there. That doesn't feel like the Nate we know from previous seasons. Nate would do self-defense. He would attack back. He wouldn't just be like a like a stiff board taking and just punch after punch after punch. He would fight back, right? You would think so, but apparently not. Moving on to Jules. We get very little here. We got very, very little. Her character feels inconsistent episode to episode. Last episode, she drew that portrait full of people in the park with male appendages and boobs and then threw a can of red paint over it when they told her to fix it. What happened with that? What What would What were the repercussions there? Lexi was in trouble, but we got nothing more out of that situation. Okay, this episode we saw Jules and Rue back together doing some high school [ __ ] all over again.
Jules is like, "Rue, have you dated recently? Have you dated anyone since high school?" Ru is like, "Oh yeah, people here and there." She brings up Angel. And Jules's like, "I can't see you being emotionally available with anyone or sexual at that point." And then Jules is like, "Rude, why won't you come up and kiss me?" Pretty much not the verbatim that, but pretty much that some again season 2 high school stuff.
Why won't you kiss me? They're being their high school selves where I think they were trying to get some parallels there, but they did too much of the high school stuff where it just seems like they're doing the same scenes over and over and over again with Jules and Rue.
Then we see a scene with Jules and her sugar daddy. Her sugar daddy finds Ru's boxer underwear in the bathroom. He gets very angry and confronts Jules saying, "Are you seeing other guys? Are you bringing other guys here and [ __ ] them?" Jules, of course, is like, "No, that's just one of my high school friends, Ru. She's a girl. It's not a guy who came here." He says back to her, "I can't have STDs. My family comes first. I am a family man. My family matters more than any of this. any of you don't matter as much as my family does pretty much. Again, not very much.
That's all we got for that. I I want to see more jewels, but we only have three episodes left. It feels like there's no real story with her. She's just an amorphous person that Ruse sometimes hooks up with. That's pretty much it. Moving on to the big characters. Now, let's talk about Maddie and Cassie. This story line is crazy. I I really enjoy the storyline this episode actually because no need there's no need involved. Very small amount but then he's just forgotten about it. The first 10 minutes is a Cassie showcase. We see that in the aftermath of Cassie and the party she's getting more and more followers. Tens of thousands of followers. She is posting more and more and more. The images we see are very abrasive and upfront. We see I'm going to call them tools. tools that go inside of people's bodies. They resemble male appendages. I'll just say that there's a really good joke where the voice over is saying that Cass is gaining a bigger and bigger following.
And while they're saying that, the appendages, the tools are getting larger and larger as well to a comical level.
This gets abstractified. All the followers gooning to Cassie as Cassie becoming a giant woman in the city kind of like Godzilla, a female Godzilla Cassie. She goes to a skyscraper, takes off her top, I believe, and pushes her boobs on one of the windows, and inside the window is one of the gooners that watches Cassie, one of her followers, watching Cassie, and Cassie's holding a little a little figurine of a guy, and eventually puts a figurine inside of her, [laughter] for lack of better words. We see a lot of outrageous stuff in the first 10 minutes. We see Cassie pretending to orgasm multiple times, all of these tools. this little figurine in her breast and more seen that than I can even explain. We see the lengths that Cassie and Maddie in this instance are willing to go to for profit, for fame.
Cassie loves that she's she finally has the freedom to do what she wants. She wants male attention. She's been wanting that ever since season 1. I think this episode, specifically this 10-minute sequence, exemplifies that and bringing some needed context into this whole situation. Season 3, Cassie now makes more sense. Her pursuing Only Fans is being shown to us as a way for her to climb up the ladder, gain some money, gain some male attention, become famous in her own way. While she's dying, we see her walking towards the Hollywood sign, exemplifying that she she thinks she has the delusion. She has the grander mindset that she will be famous.
Men will love her. She'll be the center of attention, not just in her small little hometown, but everywhere around the world. Cassie is a delusional narcissist. And I enjoy this portrayal of her as gratuitous as it is. Later on, we see Cassie talking to some Tik Tok influencers, and they're trying to pressure her to go to their Tik Tok house and drop Maddie. Cassie goes to drop Maddie face to face, but Maddie pulls one on her and pretends to get her an audition for LA Nights, the show that Lexi works on. Cassie decides, you know what, Maddie, you're doing a good job.
You're doing good enough for me. I won't I won't join the Tik Tok house. I'll stay with you. I'll make you very proud.
I find it funny that Cassie seems to want Maddie as a friend. She's very friendly this episode. She's saying like, "Maddie, we're best friends, but she's not afraid to drop her when the better opportunity comes." She thought the Tik Tok house will make her more famous. So, she decided she wanted that.
But then she got the audition with Ollie nice and she's like, "You know what, Maddie? You have some stuff that the Tik Tok house doesn't have. So, I'll stay with you just monetarily for for now, I guess." Of course, Cassie gets on the show. Lexi's jealous of her, but Cassie is too delusional. She is okay with Lexi being jealous of her, even though they're sisters. Cassie should feel some type of way that Lexi feels weird about the situation, but for some reason, Cassie just doesn't really care.
>> [laughter] >> just crazy. Going back to Maddie, we see Maddie and Ru having Darren together.
They're apparently very close friends, which doesn't feel right. It feels more like a plot contrivance and an actual character development because Maddie and Rue were never that close. It was Ru and Lexi that were very close. Maddie and Ru were friends, but not not ever best friends. But anyways, they're talking about religion, talking about Jesus, and then Almo shows up. We'll get back to Ru in a little bit, but but [laughter] Almo and Maddie start talking about money, start talking about jobs. Almo finds out that Maddie wants to pimp out girls to Only Fans, and she's making a pretty decent living off of that, and expects to make a lot more later on. Almo sees an opportunity, takes Maddie to his stripper house, presents all the strippers in a in a row, kind of like cattle or like slaves, honestly. And Maddie picks out the highest prospects that she sees for Only Fans, Seven and 15, which of course happen to be characters we've seen before, Magic, Roselia, and Kitty from Kansas. What's going to happen there? I have no idea. I am confused about I don't think Maddie would be okay with this, but I I guess she never had that strong of morals to begin with. She was just a sassy, sometimes violent, very abrasive person.
So, I I think this kind of makes sense.
I I still think this is a little iffy, stretching the boundaries of their morals, but we'll go along with this for now. Finally, talking about Ru Send Ru hooks up with Jules again. No more context really given there outside of what I said earlier. Like I said, very underdeveloped. Ru calls Lori and her men trying to tap their phones with the police that she's working with. She calls Lori. That doesn't work. She calls one of the men. That works. Ru is scared that Elmo's catching on to her, that she's being too suspicious, she's being too weird. Bishop talks to her oneonone, carrying a saw. Ru is of course terrified. She's like, "Is he trying to intimidate me? Is he trying to murder me? Possibly. He explains how he doesn't trust. Ru is not a trustable person.
Ever since Rue came to their lives, trouble has followed. Then Almo talks to Ru oneonone and ask her what she knows about Lorie about the layout of her house about where her most valuable possessions might be. Almo is planned to attack. We see a scene of magic confronting Almo saying that Ru is trying to set her up putting drugs in her locker talking to Kitty asking if someone's poisoner to be there being weird. Bishop is also there and things are lining up and suspicion is growing towards Rue. Going back to Maddie and Rue having dinner. Alamo shows up, tells Rue to go outside, go in a black truck.
She does so. There she sees Bishop and more of Alamo's men. They make her dig a hole. She asks how deep. They say up to her neck. So, we know where this is going. We know where this is going. She digs the hole up to her neck. They dig her in the hole. Of course, Rue does this without any confrontation or anything. She does this willingly.
Again, I feel like Rue would try and fight back somehow. She wouldn't just dig a hole for herself to her neck.
Willingly 100%. She would try and find a way out of this, right? Apparently not.
Apparently not. She is buried neck deep there. Almost riding a horse going straight towards Ru. He's carrying a mallet, swinging it hard enough to decapitate Ru. And that's where the episode ends. A lot of stuff happened.
Some stuff works, some stuff doesn't. I think we know what to expect now. What stuff to work. Cassie and Maddie. R stuff. What stuff doesn't really work.
Lexi's just kind of there. I am excited for the next episodes. I want to see where. I'm so intrigued by Cassie and Maddie. I think that story line is the most intriguing to me just cuz I I don't know what's going to happen next. There was a Tik Tok party. Now Cassie is going to be on LA Nights. What's going to happen next? Uh Maddie Maddie's with Alamo. They're going to start strippers on Only Fans. [laughter] What is this? I I kind of enjoy how the story lines are lined up together. I like that Maddie is with Almo. It feels contrived. Yes, but it kind of fits. I like that Cassie is going to be on LA Nights. It kind of brings Cassie and Lexi together in a strange way. Some parallels there at the high school. That works. But Hunter Schaefer and Zena's characters, Jules and Ru, we need more of that and we're going to do that. Let's go inside the characters brains. We haven't we haven't explored Sena's reactions, her thoughts about this relationship. She's just she's too preoccupied with everything else with Elmo. I I don't blame her, but that's not it doesn't feel right. At least not right now. Let's see what happens. I am still intrigued. I am still surprised by every single episode.
The first 10 minutes I think are very well done. Even if they are gratuitous and explicit, I um I'm glad that they were contained. All the explicit stuff for the first 10 minutes. Those are my thoughts, my opinions. Comment down below whatever you think. Make sure to like, subscribe, watch my other videos, and I'll see you when I see you. Adios.
