The Sussexes' attempt to monetize their titles while shifting security costs to the public reveals a significant lack of institutional accountability. This commercialization of royal duties risks turning public service into a private enterprise at the taxpayer's expense.

Questions Continue Around Who Paid For Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Security In AustraliaAdded:
Hi all, welcome to Recollections May Vary, a royal recap. Let's talk about the security situation. We talked about this a little bit off camera. But what has been discovered recently is Australians are pretty upset that at least two police forces confirmed that they will provide taxpayer-funded security to Harry and Meghan down under. The couple's team claimed, remember weeks ago, the trip is being funded privately when they released that very nasty response to the change.org petition that had garnered nearly 50,000 signatures from Australians livid over the idea of of taxpayer dollars going to indulge Harry and Meghan's ego trip. Now, the couple they their team claimed the trip is being funded privately and what was it that they said? He was like, "It's a moot point." And it was just a very nasty What did he say? What did he say? He said he said he said look if 50 or at the time 46,000 people have signed this petition, there are 25 million people in Australia, that means that that that 24,995,000 haven't signed this petition, which is a ridiculous thing to say.
And you know, who knows how they're actually funding this trip. There have been question questions in the past asked about who underwrites these strange, weird, pretend royal tours that they undertake.
Take. Who paid for Nigeria? Who paid for Colombia? Who paid for Jordan? Who is paying for Australia? So, who pays for the actual airfares, the hotels, and all the other expenses entailed, which are pretty vast? That's one question.
But when they say it's privately funded, you know, what they're not taking on board is the fact that if police are going to have to come to wherever they visit, that's an expense to the Australian taxpayer. And that is why let me tell you that a lot more than 50,000 people who signed that petition, a lot more Australians than that are very, very upset about this. They're very angry. I know this. You know, I work with a couple of Australians.
You know, you know, my friend Samara Gill, Samara's clued in. She's clicked into what the Australians are thinking. And she says, "Mark my words, they'll probably edit it out, but the way Australians are feeling about this couple, where they go, they will be booed." Well, I I saw on Channel 7, who I work with over in Australia, that they anticipate just for the four days that Harry and Meghan are there, that it will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded security. And that's unacceptable because the reality is is this is I told you this on your program. I I I do feel confident This is my opinion, but I feel confident in it that this is a business trip and Harry and Meghan added some of these little charity moments so that people would not skewer them over the business element of the Australia trip, the three-day retreat, Harry getting paid to speak at a mental health conference. If that was all that they were doing, then the commentators like us would be like, "You can't You You can't pretend to be royals and go to Australia and use your Duchess of Sussex title to do a three-day weekend girls weekend where you talk about poor Rodney King who can't catch a break. Leave Rodney King alone."
But now that they're doing some of these charity you know, what do you I don't even want to call them I'm going to call them PR opportunities.
And now that they're doing some of these little pop-up charity PR opportunities, cuz they're certainly not they're certainly not royal engagements, it's harder to criticize them because the photographs that will be shown as we're criticizing them are them with small children that are ill.
Yeah. Well, that That's exactly right, Kinsey. I mean, you know, the pictures with the sick kids in hospital and make cooking the food for homeless people in refugee centers and all that. That's a cover-up. Mhm. You know, the real business of the trip is business. As we've just said, Meghan, when she does this three-day women's-only weekend in Sydney at a Sydney hotel, she's going to get paid 250,000 American dollars for that.
And Harry is charging 50,000 dollars to deliver a speech at a symposium on psychosocial safety at work in the workplace. So, 50,000 dollars for that. I believe it's something like 500 bucks a ticket.
Again, >> digital. That's just for the digital arm, but it's like a thousand dollars to two thousand dollars to physically be there. But and that and that's a at a discount cuz they initially were two thousand and up.
Yeah, and they're they're discounting like crazy so that Prince Harry is spared the embarrassment of an empty venue. giving a face to a half-empty auditorium.
They're desperately trying to fill those seats, I suspect.
Despite what we've been told, it's going to be the same story at the three-day weekend with Meghan. You know, we were told it was sold out within days. Well, Only 300 seats available. Of course it was.
>> Yeah, yeah. Suddenly it's not sold out.
But this is the business of this trip.
The business of this trip is business, to make money. And what people around them are saying is this maybe the blueprint for their financial future. You know, they're not making any money out of Netflix anymore. They're not making any money out of making any movies or TV projects.
>> why did they give up podcasts quickly?
Podcasts have gone.
Harry's not doing anything. As ever, her weird online site selling mundane domestic products for astronomical prices, that clearly isn't working. I wonder how much longer that will last. So, they've got no discernible source sources of income.
So, people around them are saying, "This is what they formulating as their blueprint for the financial future. They will visit countries, pretend to visit sick kids in hospital, and cook meals for homeless people, but in fact, they'll go around that country getting as many paid gigs as they can to raise cash. Simple as that." Doesn't it really piss you off? It pisses me off.
Doesn't it really piss you off? This Harry did this in Canada, too, when he went and talked to veterans. He went to the space that Queen Elizabeth had previously visited. So, when all of the local Canadian stations showed Harry there, they showed the Queen there, you know, decades ago. And so, you get, you know, the reminder that this is the Queen's grandson. Today at the hospital they visited, Harry and Meghan were at a hospital that the Queen had visited previously. So, in all of the local reports, you get the Queen releasing the plaque, you know, showing, you know, the Queen opening the space and releasing the plaque. It cut to visuals of Harry and Meghan and the crowds going wild.
Like off. Like you are no [laughter] longer working members of the British royal family, and all of this is so intentional. You quit your job. The Queen, who you keep, you know, clawing at to between stealing the name Lilibet and showing up for, you know, showing up for all of her leftovers at these venues that she'd previously been at. They're desperate to remind us of this association, and this is the same woman that said, "No half in, no half out. You cannot do this." And here they are stomping on her grave, cartwheeling on her grave, and forcing their greedy little agenda. And it pisses me off, Kevin.
Yeah, well, I don't blame you, Kinsey.
And you know, feeding off the royal family is what these two are all about.
The royal family give them relevance, and that's why many fear that pretty soon maybe their next pretend royal tour will be to Britain because that's where the money is for them.
>> Thanks so much for watching. Bye.
