[00:00:00]Our people who usually don't go to church, were not raised particularly religiously. They use it as a a label of identity. It's a basically kind of identitarianism. [music] They use it as a label to say, "Oh, that's what we are." And then I sort of sort of point out, "Oh, so if you're going to be England, that means you're going to be Catholic, because England was Catholic for a thousand years. It's only been Protestant for 500. And actually most of that 500 is part of Britain." So I kind of like how simple labels, which appear [music] to be so firm and fixed, their meanings are much more unstable um in many ways. I'll I'll pause just to let you >> [laughter] >> have a word moment. Off when I shared >> [music] >> when I was doing the work on Judaism, so I'm studying Christian nationalism. And of course, the actions [laughter] around that was So where are the swastika tattoos or what? You know, no, no, no.

[00:00:43]We must remember that, you know, a couple hundred years ago for a lot [music] of Christians, they were essentially left, you know, or they would have been seen as liberal or left-wing today. They opposed to slavery, um tried to, you know, that they had whole attitudes which have [music] shifted so much in 200 years.
