Lego walking robot two legged walkerAdded:
Welcome to this explain a build where I'll be talking about the newest walker model I've created.
Starting I got the inspiration for this walker I was building I attempted many attempts to create this mechanism.
On this little crank.
As you can see there.
Just simple walking.
Just simple walking but but as you can see it's obviously very distinctively weighted so that it's heavy at the front this leg are weighted like the back so then so then the foot is able to come off the ground which gives it gives it the ability to walk.
So so the original plan for this model was that I actually started with this this big hub here at the back.
But that ended up too heavy and the model kind of just was weighted down at at the foot like that so it just couldn't work the feet weren't able to lift up up the ground. So I knew that couldn't work because I tried adjusting things it just didn't work. So that's how I then I went for the option of so I put this lighter technic hub in the mix if you can see it see it is here.
And then put and then connected it to the small hub at the front. So it so again it had the same light at the back.
But obviously then I had the problem let's just take these off. So this is how it looks originally. hub here.
But then the problem was let's Let's see here.
So the front is obviously too light then now that corner is still heavy in there.
So I added these these weights these have just got metal balls in them.
Then but as you can see it's lifting off the floor that's a good inch off the floor there. So that's exactly what we need.
Right now to get on to the testing. So the shoes were something the shoes were were something I spent a while on. So this these was this was the earliest design.
But then I tried several designs obviously as you can see this is the one I eventually went with. Mainly because it's the one that works on both environments carpet and desk or hard whatever you call it. This one was pretty good impressive for carpet just wasn't good enough on the desk this but I found this this model you see here it's got like it's got tires and it's just secured in my two pins.
It's good good enough so that that just works and I was able to give a firm grip on on both environments.
Right now for testing.
Right so first we'll test the carpet so you can see here all in place just move it a bit further back.
And here we go.
So it's really really So that's all good. Now obviously there's other cool things you can do you can actually see see I'm doing it switch these things around so obviously at this very moment they're the opposite you can actually like change the the walking it just just a little bit obviously you don't want too much of it.
with it.
with it like that.
You can change the walking so it just by slightly adjusting then you get a kind of a different walking. I mean I'm not saying I would ever use any of these I'm not sure how to try them but it still is So what so this is actually obviously this would be easy to adjust but this is actually kind of allows it to turn.
Of course this doesn't work backwards.
As you can see it's already got but the way I like it that makes it very interesting is when you switch switch it all the way.
Wait here.
But by doing this I will just get switch the view here get a bit of better look at this cuz this is pretty cool.
So that kind of gives it almost like a kangaroo hop in it.
So there's two legs in the exact same place.
Now when I was designing this version the problem I had was that this went too far down. So I just added see this some this corner piece right here so that just supports it keeps it upright enough that it can continue hopping.
Right here we are back on the desk.
Let's just see what we have.
Yeah working very lovely.
See it's working very good.
Especially when forward it really looks like it.
See it really looks like he's at home and it looks much it's much better on the hard floor the rubber tires obviously give it a real real grip especially here but I think it does work well it's no better than this other design which I will take a look at in a second.
All right yeah I'll tell you what I'll do that right now.
>> [snorts] >> All right here we are all changed now. I mean this isn't suited for the table environment I will just show you what it does do because IT DIDN'T WORK.
SO YOU SEE CUZ OBVIOUSLY THERE'S JUST NO THERE'S NO grip it's basically the same material so obviously there's actually no grip. But it does work very well on the carpet which I will show you right now.
All right for the final time we are on the carpet. Now remember we have still got the coke on.
So right let's just show you now.
>> [laughter] [laughter] >> There you see it's pretty much the same on the carpet they both work just as well but obviously it it's on the desk where it is really cutting edge cuz this doesn't work one bit on the desk but the other ones do which is why those are much better.
