[00:00:02][Music] Well, hello and welcome to today's class. I'm Will Marsh. I'm in the key of C and what you just heard me playing is a unique and lovely springtime rag called Rag Hindle. And Hindle is a pentatonic rag.

[00:00:54]It has a pretty interesting note selection. And uh honestly, I don't hear this played so much on Satar. I've had maybe a few classes in it um throughout my studies, but I was inspired to share a little bit about it since it's it's very unique. And uh right now it's springtime where I am. So um it's a good time to be playing it. And let's go over the basics. What are the notes? And um then we'll go over tuning. So, uh, our notes for this rag [Music] So you can hear we [Music] have sa and knee on the way [Music] back. So knee is not a strong note. And yeah this has that interesting tonality reminds me of marva where there is no p at all. Um so let's now talk about tuning without p. I'm going to tune G da sasa. If if you have gunder, punch them. If you have courage, punch them. With just the three upper strings, you're going to do da da sasa. And then your sympathetics, you'll just tune double [Music] notes. Oops, I have a ray in there.

[00:02:34]Bring that back to [Music] sa that's our tune. And so yeah, um pretty unique tonality. Important note when you set your tanpura, make sure it's set to sha and no paw will give it a different feeling. Um and it's not in the rag at all.

[00:03:02]So let's just look at the basics. Um we talked about moving up we avoid knee.

[00:03:10][Music] So one way to ascend is to ascend from [Music] the sun.

[00:03:33]Da is a pretty prominent phrase. Here's just a little string of phrases that I have in my notes.
