While DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is commonly blamed for hair loss, large-scale human studies on long-term 5-alpha reductase inhibitors show no consistent cognitive impairment or systemic physiological deficits, with sexual side effects being statistically uncommon and typically subsiding despite continued treatment, indicating that concerns about DHT suppression are biologically plausible but noticeable effects appear uncommon in real-world data.

Blocking DHT. Is it bad for us? Here’s what the evidence suggests. #haircare #hair #doctor本站添加:
If you start doing your own research on hair loss, you will definitely come across the infamous three letters, DHT, the hormone that drives hair loss.
Online, DHT is often blamed for receding hairlines, expanding crowns, acne, and prostate issues. However, you'll still find some people defending it as the essence of masculinity, arguing that its inhibition by medications kills sexual and cognitive function, among others.
Let's examine what's known. Large bodies of human data, including men on long-term 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, show no consistent sign of major cognitive impairment, no clear systemic physiological deficits unique to DHT suppression, and limited and inconsistent evidence overall in cognition. Sexual side effects are statistically uncommon, and in most cases subside despite continuation of treatment. Even in cases where circulating DHT levels are significantly altered, there is little correlation with meaningful clinical outcomes in most tissues. So, the concerns are biologically plausible, but in real-world data, noticeable effects appear uncommon. However, exceptional cases are still worth examining and investigating further.
