Officers arrived on the scene within minutes, only to find the suspect standing less than one block away, matching the description perfectly. Officers decided her brief moment of obstruction was already overshadowed by her long list of poor decisions. In the end, the stolen items were recovered and Padilla's next scheduled appearance wasn't at a brunch, but at the county station. Now, while Padilla learned the hard way that distance doesn't mean safety, as it turns out, the next duo thought they could play it cool even under the watchful eyes of undercover officers. On February 11th, 2025, undercover officers working a retail theft suppression detail at Ulta were alerted to a suspicious man concealing high-end fragrances in his pants. During the encounter, Handy attempted to flee from officers before being quickly apprehended and provided false identification to delay the investigation. Both suspects were found to have outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court. As a result, Harmon was charged with retail theft while Handy was booked on felony retail theft and obstructing identification. Both were transported to Maybrook for detention hearings.
But you see, while our last duo actually managed to reach their vehicle, the police in this next case closed the gap so fast that the suspect couldn't even run a full 100 m.
On June 24th, 2025, loss prevention at a local Jewel Oasco spotted a familiar face wandering the aisles, a man known for his history of retail theft. At approximately 4:24 p.m., officers arrived just in time to see the suspect, Darius Woods, attempting to walk out with a bag full of unpaid merchandise.

>> Did you Did you at least attempt to look for it? That's my problem.
>> They're looking right now. They're still there.
>> I We showed you the only phone that we found.
The attempt to outrun the law didn't last long as officers managed to take Darius Woods to the ground and secure him in handcuffs. After being processed at the station, Woods was officially charged with retail theft and resisting arrest. While the stolen goods were recovered and inventoried, Woods found himself trading his shopping bag for a set of charges, proving once again that some shoppers just don't know when to quit. Well, instead of another high-speed chase, this encounter in Champagne turned into more of a battle of words as the suspect focused on her logic rather than her getaway. On February 7th, 2026, Champagne police officers responded to a shoplifting report at a CVS. The suspect, easily identifiable in a long green coat, was spotted just moments later in a nearby library parking lot.
>> I didn't steal anything.
>> Put your hands behind your back.
>> I didn't steal anything. You can't arrest me if I didn't do anything.
>> I'm arrested right now.
>> What? I did exactly what you said. I was about to enter my pocket.
>> What's your name?
>> How are you? How are you going to tell me to do something and then not give me a chance to do it?
>> I gave you the opportunity.
>> I didn't know that, sir. I did not know that. You can see everything that I have has been used, sir. These are my products.
That's really messed up. And what are your names? Because I'm going to file report on you guys cuz this is harassment.
What? I have nothing on me. I did nothing wrong. That's already been used.
I've had it for days now. Everything's been already used. Like seriously, I've had that I've had these things for days now. I always carry them with me cuz they're my products. I didn't know that.
I I just told you why I took them, officer. I didn't I know you had to pay for them, so I would have I would have taken them.
>> Can I at least go pee, please? I've been drinking Monster Eye drink and I really have to pee. I've been in there for over an hour.
Are >> these just rocks?
>> Yes, they are. Cuz I've been in there for over an hour.
>> Okay. Well, here's the deal. You got nothing else, huh?
>> No, I don't. Sir, >> took the newspapers. All right.
>> You can take them back. I didn't mean to.
>> All they're wanting is the property back. So, all the stuff that came from there, >> that's what it is. Go back.
>> That's That's all I have.
>> All right. What you do with the makeup and stuff that you pack in?
>> That's my makeup, sir. I have a beauty blender in my pocket.
>> That's all I have, sir. That's all >> makeup product she has on her at least halfway used. We have camera footage of her putting the makeup in her body.
>> Okay. Look how you went for the um the other room.
>> They might have thought I took something because of what I already had. I could see how it could look like that, but I didn't. I really have to use the restroom.
>> All right, we're going to let you go in a second.
>> Oh, I'm always being harassed. Is it because I'm homeless? Like, I don't understand. I'm not homeless, but it's like it's messed up. I don't I haven't even been on the side of town in Mobile.
>> Well, you didn't take newspapers, so don't act like you didn't do anything.
Okay, >> sir. If I really wanted to take those, I would have took them. Like I I took them on the way out the door. I didn't initially keep them and harbor them. I I thought they were for free. How much do newspapers cost? I might be able to pay for them.
>> When people call us, we got to respond.
Okay. So, it doesn't matter how much they're worth. They took them without paying around these rocks >> because I My daughter likes rocks.
>> Sure about that.
>> It is. It's her job. I It has my makeup on it.
>> All right, Courtney. Because you're in hand, custom read your right to pay does not mean you're under under arrest. I pass questions about something. Okay.
>> Okay.
>> You have the right to remain silent.
Anything you say can be can and will be used against you in court of law. You have the right to talk to the lawyer and have her present with you while you're being questioned. Can afford to hire a lawyer will be appointed to represent you before any question if you wish.
Decide at any time to exercise these rights and do not answer any questions or make any statements right. Say yes.
>> Yes, I do.
>> Did you stay there alone?
>> Um on and off.
>> On and off. Yes, we >> like while you while she pointed your bank information to her cash app. Does that ring a bell?
>> We agreed upon that. Yes.
>> Okay. And did you ever use that cash app to to take money out of her account?
>> No, it was No, it was all upon permission.
>> Okay. Do you remember all the times that you've done that?
>> I remember when me and Mary made deals to send and withdraw money. via my cash app. Yes. In her bank account. Yes, I do. There's been several situations.
>> You've never done that without asking her first.
>> We had an understanding and then I guess because her landlord decided not to go forward.
>> Okay. Did she have a car?
>> She did have a car.
>> She did have a car.
>> She did have a car.
>> Okay. Did you ever use that car?
>> No.
I not not not you know not without her permission.
>> What were the transactions that she was agreed upon with the cash?
>> I believe it was for um $50. $50 $50.
>> So $50 three times.
>> I mean it sounds accurate. Yeah.
>> So just to just to clarify somebody at one point >> why am I being questioned for something that happened over a year ago? So >> because they told me that you're not questioned. Oh, for over a year ago.
>> You're questioning me for something and real good friends.
>> Aren't cool now, but at one point she was pretty upset with you because >> Sure. Because because she had a guardian who and her in the past, but I was not that type of person.
>> Okay. You would have to know like what happened to the money and her >> I I never stayed at her, sir. I never stayed at her house for a few days. Her her dad would take out her cat and that's what that was. never getting an answer. So, I went over there cuz like a good friend does, I was concerned about her because she had we had talked about mental health. I'm big on mental health as well.
>> All right. Well, I just had to ask you those questions cuz that's my job. Okay.
They just tell me to essentially what I'm going to do is I'm going to write a supplemental report to whatever report was written back in May. Just put your statement in there cuz they already got me.
>> If they really wanted to question you, why didn't they question me when it first happened? Why do I have to recall things that happened?
>> I'm not homeless, sir. that told me that >> I have been homeless but I I recently now I'm not back over a year ago yet I'm not homeless anymore status is we when we come across you that's when we look into you right so we came across >> you can call my dad I mean I I stay with him like what do you mean >> I mean you can though >> can at least smoke cigarette if I can't go pee like we get you out of here but whatever this is that you had on your person is kind of making that more difficult.
>> Makeup and cigarettes.
>> No, the whatever's in those little bags.
>> There's nothing in there. Well, I don't know what it is, but it's not mine. I pick that pack up. And I have two lone cigarettes and I put my makeup items in there, sir. I do it all the time. All the time. Cuz I smoke cigarettes, but I get Lucy's from the Golden.
>> Here's the thing. When you pick things up off the ground, take them into our possession, and become.
>> Sure. So if you picked up that cigarette pack and did go through it and do your due diligence to make sure there wasn't anything weird in it, you know, it turns out there is something that weird thing becomes yours. It's on you. Otherwise, people could just walk around with guns and be like, "Oh my god, I just I just found it." You know what's up.
>> Can I take it?
>> Um I can transport it if you want to just get receipt for the papers.
I'm going to have a sub for her face.
>> Why not be arrested? Arresting. Can I prove that I sold it? I don't do it.
Sir, but I I had that and I didn't know.
>> I didn't know that was steal.
>> I didn't know that was >> You're going to really arrest me for three newspapers when my phone was stolen from up there.
>> Okay, it's just send it for now. I have no idea what it is. And uh here >> it's not here, Joe. Uh but uh thinking if we just you know her up she's on others from thousand places. So I just don't like kicking her down the road so she can go steal from some other stores here. What was the other case before that? She stayed with one of her friends a while back back in May and at some point they like attached her friend's bank account to her cash app account to conduct a transaction off the cash app transactions to make a pretty I don't know it looks like they said probably use some of that. But following the confrontation in the parking lot, Courtney was officially charged with retail theft and transported to the Champagne County Jail. An itemized receipt confirmed she had attempted to walk away with over $85 in unpaid merchandise. And finally, if the previous suspect tried to talk her way out, this serial shoplifter didn't even bother. I mean, Reynolds really thought she could hit the same store a third time and just walk away with it.
On March 30th, 2025, Target loss prevention spotted a familiar face wandering the aisles. It was Tia Reynolds, a woman already linked to two previous thefts at the store. Reynolds wasn't exactly keeping a low profile as she began stuffing clothes directly into her sleeves and a brown bag she brought along for the ride. Then, the police appeared right in front of her.
>> Is it gray in front of you or is it black? So, she's wearing she's wearing light jeans, >> but she's wearing this underneath like white whatever. I don't know if that's like that's underneath this green jacket that she used.
>> Okay.
>> Okay. Well, we'll just both stay out here.
>> Yeah, we'll just Yeah.
>> How about we both stay out here and then when she gets close, just give us a call.
>> Yeah, I'll do that. And then I'll just walk out.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> We're under arrest for theft right now.
Okay.
>> Stop.
>> I'm not resisting you.
>> Well, you keep tweaking your arm. I'm not teaching you how to >> look any questions, please.
>> Nope.
>> Nine.
>> You're okay.
>> You're going to jail.
>> No, please. I can't do it right now.
>> No, you are.
>> That's fine.
>> That's fine. We're going to get to that point.
>> I have dryer sheets. I have a dryer sheet.
>> You have a lot more than dryer sheets. I can tell you that.
>> No, I don't.
>> Okay.
>> Well, please stop moving.
>> Stop moving around. Stop moving around.
Actually, I addressed just the name of my shirt.
>> What's your name?
>> Cuz it's T Mackenzie Reynolds. I don't have What was that?
>> T Mackenzie Reynolds. T >> Mackenzie Reynolds.
>> Yes. I don't have any prior theft history. I'm sorry. Okay.
>> I don't have any work out here. Okay.
>> Okay. I don't have any prior wars. I don't have any prior history.
>> Oh, we'll talk about that in just a second. Okay.
>> Okay.
>> Mackenzie Reynolds. Huh?
>> All right.
Just face a push bar for me. Okay. I'm going to advise you your rights real quick. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in the court of law. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? Having these rights in mind, which continue to talk to me?
>> Yes.
>> Okay. So, we have you on video concealing a bunch of merchandise in your bag. I watch you conceal a bunch of merchandise into your bag. Is it all in that brown bag?
>> Yes. And someone There's dryer sheets right here as well. I don't have any fire theft history. I don't have any warrants right now.
>> You can have all the pictures in my pockets. Check my pockets.
>> You're You're under arrest.
>> Yeah, you're under arrest. It's not.
It's not. We're all done with doing it now that we're here. It's a done deal.
You have passed all points to sale.
>> I didn't leave the store, though. You didn't these?
>> No, there's no place on What's your date of birth?
>> I'm not I'm not >> What's your date of birth?
>> I have laundry tabs and toiletries.
>> What's your date of birth?
>> I don't need to keep them. 120198. I I mean, I know I can't cuz I stole them.
I'm >> birthday 1201 of 19.
>> I don't have any of history.
>> It doesn't matter. You you were in there shopping through this place like it was your own shopping spree. Like you think that that's okay. Everybody else is over here paying for their merchandise.
You're not you're not getting out of this in any which way.
>> Okay.
>> So, we'll start tallying these things up. And thank you for the card.
Appreciate it. That's quite helpful.
You're also going to be It doesn't matter.
>> Where are you stuffing all this?
>> I've never been caught before. Like I I don't steal.
>> You won't be stealing here anymore or in the city. That's for sure.
>> Oh, that's what I saw you consider. You want to press charges?
>> They do.
>> Oh, there's the other one I saw you concealing.
>> I just I'm here on the 27th.
>> We have three. So, this is one. Okay.
So, three counts of theft in the third degree is what we're at right now, which actually could end up being a felony for organized retail theft possibly.
>> Please, I will not come here again. I don't I don't I don't Please, I don't want a felony. I won't. Please. I don't have I just a felony. How am I supposed to get my life together if I have a felony on my record? I'm not like a big person.
>> This is what I'm talking about. I'm not a crazy person. I don't run through the store. I don't >> Can you stay forward, please?
>> Are we using math, cocaine? What is it?
>> Which one? You're under the influence of a skin. So, which one is it? You are.
You definitely are. Your behavior certainly shows me that you are. The marks on your feet certainly show me that you are. Is that why you're doing this?
>> No, it's not.
>> I'm scared. I didn't >> You're not You're not getting out of this.
>> Why?
>> At least enjoy our time together. Can you just face the vehicle?
>> He's asked you three times to face the vehicle.
>> Okay, stay there.
>> Can I just go trespassing?
>> You will.
>> Miss McKenzie, stop.
>> We've been over this how many times already? And how many times have we told you no?
Okay, we're trying to be nice. Okay, we got caught.
>> I know that. Okay. So, there's no it's not it's not up for discussion. Okay.
It's not safe in there. So, it's okay for you to steal.
>> It's not okay for me to steal. I know that. That's what I'm trying to say. I'm sorry.
>> It's not okay for me to steal. I need to get a job. I know that. I don't do it a lot.
>> Okay.
>> And I won't do it again.
>> Can you hold her for a second? I'm going to grab some clothes.
>> Can you in jail?
>> Can you please face the vehicle?
>> If I have to tell you one more time, I'm going to place you on the vehicle and your face is going to be in it and it's not going to come out of it until I'm done. Do you understand?
>> Thank you. Um, if we think we've got the big bulky items, why don't we switch?
Okay. Why don't >> you wait until I >> So, you hold her and I'll search her.
I've given her the warning that if she turns around on us one more time, her face is going to be in the car until I'm done. Okay. So, we're not doing this anymore.
>> So, I'm going to search you now. Okay.
I'm going to search everywhere. All your pockets, everything. Is there anything sharp on your >> No, there's not cuz I know you guys haven't seen me in the store before. I don't have any warrant. Please conceal on your person.
>> Listen to my partner. Once I pat you down here and you're going to go to the jail. I see that you have paraphernalia here. They're going to do a strip search of you. Okay. So, if there's anything on you right now that you're concealing in your person, I need to know about it now. Otherwise, you're going to be introducing narcotics into a correctional facility, which is a felony. Okay. So, do you have anything on you anywhere that I need to know about right now? In your bra, in your underwear, in places that it shouldn't be. Yes or no?
>> Huh?
>> Yes or no? I'm going to take that as a no. I don't have >> Okay, you're shaking your head, so that means no to me.
>> I don't have anything else.
>> Okay, there you go.
>> I don't have warrants. Can you call?
They won't confirm on my warrants.
>> Okay, you do have warrants, though.
>> I don't have warrants. I don't have any warrants.
>> So, why are you telling me that they're not going to confirm on your warrants?
>> Because I don't have any. There wouldn't be anything to confirm on.
>> Do you carry anything in your underwear or anything? I feel something right here. What is that? Some hard plastic thing. What's right here?
>> Why can't you just take me to real jail?
You are going to go to real jail.
>> I haven't before.
>> Okay.
>> Even the jeans are in the store. They're not stolen. They're new. You can see I didn't put them on the store. They're not stolen.
>> Did you ever go into a >> fitting room?
>> Room today.
>> Is this your merchandise? Can you take a look?
>> Okay. Here's the deal. I'm I'm being super nice right now. We're going to take your jacket off because the amount of items in your if you do anything funny like you've been trying to do. My partner already told you your face is going to be on this hood.
>> Okay. And you're going to stay there.
It's not going to be pleasant. I don't want to do Got it. Okay.
>> I don't have a lot of history. If I get a felony, how am I supposed to be able to get a job and do things like that? I know I should, but I don't I just get >> You feel good about Okay. No, you're good.
>> Okay. You've got your coat off that you said you think you might have some stuff inside.
>> It changes me though because then I have other money and then that's what >> that's going to be that's going to be up to the prosecutor.
>> That's going to be up to the prosecutor.
Okay. So, you're merely being charged right now. Okay. How about anything inside of your shoes?
>> Anything inside your shoes?
>> Your shoes?
>> No.
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> Okay. I think we're good with this.
>> Okay. Let's go sit in my car. Come on.
Please take the hospital or something.
>> Thank you. We're not going to go to the hospital. Okay.
>> All right.
All the way.
>> So, your last name is Reynolds. Hello.
>> Please.
>> No.
>> I will do anything.
>> Stop. No. We're not talking about that.
Okay.
>> Um, not fully checked this thing. So, we're going to need to go over this better.
>> Okay. Um, this is not garbage.
>> I'm going to go in with her. I'm going to go through this, >> get that, get everything that's stolen, get a receipt, get all that stuff going.
>> Statements and you have statements from the last two incidents and footage.
>> Yeah, >> perfect.
>> That's not my name.
>> What's your name?
>> Emily.
>> So, you lied to me.
What?
You lied to me. Why did you lie to me? I do not like being lied to at all. What's your real name?
>> Emily.
>> Emily what?
>> Marie.
>> Emily. Marie. Marie is your last name.
>> No.
>> What's your m What's your last name?
>> Sheffield.
>> Sheffield. Emily Marie Sheffield.
>> It's fine. You can keep lying to me.
It's just going to be more charges.
Emily, your real name? Well, you don't exist, so I don't know how that's possible. So, what's your name?
>> I just told you.
>> Sheffield. Emily Maria Sheffield, which is Hey, I mean, if you want to continue lying to me at who you are, that's fine.
Just get more charges. You don't want to stick with that? You want to tell me the truth now?
>> I don't want to see >> your name. You clearly have warrants.
>> No, I don't.
>> Okay. So, then why won't you tell me your name? I'm going to find out who you are regardless. We're going to do fingerprints on you and everything.
>> I'm worried. That's why.
>> What are you worried about?
>> Weird in there.
>> You're okay. Look, the the whole mentality of you going to jail and you thinking you're not going to go to jail tonight, you need to get that out of your head. You're going to jail tonight.
>> So, who are you?
>> I'm just not saying anything.
>> Well, you need to tell me who you are.
Okay, that's fine. More charges. It's fine.
>> The investigation confirmed that Taia Reynolds had knowingly bypassed all points of sale with approximately $678 worth of unpaid merchandise hidden in her bag and jacket. Because of her blatant attempt to walk out with the stolen goods, Reynolds was officially charged with theft in the third degree.
Additionally, at the request of the store manager, she has been officially trespassed from the property. It seems Reynolds will have to find a new place to do her shopping as her history of repeat offenses finally caught up with her. What's your take on this case?
