The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Shark Response [music] Unit Manager, Michael Burke, said earlier this month large schools of salmon provide an exciting [music] fishing opportunity, but swimmers, surfers, and other ocean users should avoid areas where large schools of fish are present. In fact, over the last week there have been dozens of shark reports [music] along the southwest coastline with visitors being warned that if a Surf Life Saving helicopter hovers [music] and sounds a siren, swimmers need to leave the water immediately for at least an hour. The annual salmon migration delivers an estimated $331 [music] million boost to the Western Australian economy drawing both recreational fishers and tourists eager to witness the spectacle.
