The Most Productive Fruit Tree In My Garden

[00:00:00]This fruit tree gives me more berries than any other plant in my garden. Last year I harvested, I believe between 30 and 40 lb of mulberries. I can usually get a pretty good harvest from my strawberries. I do okay with blackberries and my blueberries just kind of putter along, but the mulberries, oh my goodness, they produce so much. The cool thing about them is in order to know when they're perfectly ripe, they actually need to fall from the tree. So, the easiest way to collect them is to lay out a sheet or a blanket and then shake the trees, which is what I'm doing here. I promise I'm not crazy.

[00:00:33]I noticed a lot more bird activity over by my trees, so that was a big indicator to me that I need to get these guys harvested very quickly because these birds will take over and eat every single one of these if I allow them to.

[00:00:45]This is just the first harvest and I can probably expect between four and five more harvests just as plentiful as this one. And if I really want some more of these after all of that, there's actually a way that you can get the tree to produce again by defoliating it and then pruning it really aggressively.
