Effective storytelling requires consistent character development throughout a season rather than forcing major character arcs into a single episode, as rushed narrative pacing can undermine emotional payoff and audience engagement.

The Boys Quit On It's EndingAdded:
Eternal God of the ashes.
>> I'll [ __ ] suck your dick. Please. You want me to eat [ __ ] I'll eat your [ __ ] [ __ ] >> The boys season 5 is over. And if you said back in season 1, the boys would suffer from drawn out filler, lazy writing, and waste time building their cinematic universe. I would have said, >> "Fuck you."
>> How ironic is it that they've gone from mocking the MCU to becoming just like it? adding characters like Bombsite so they can remind us about their prequel show. And don't get me started on Soldier Boy, forcing this random attachment to Stormfront to justify his actions is ridiculous.
>> I don't understand. He wasn't supposed to.
>> So much for being the >> smartest person.
>> My point is The Boy season 5 is a disappointment. We had Butcher, Homelander, even the Deep.
>> I take responsibility for racism.
>> Yet many people aren't happy. What happened to Scorched Earth? and just wipe New York off the [ __ ] map.
>> They seem to have left that all in the marketing with Homelander in space as the world burns or Butcher taking down Vault Tower. This one was recreated from the comics and that didn't even happen.
The closest we get to Homelander reigning hell is in his head in season 2. It's all just underwhelming. What were the writers thinking? Stan Edgar is barely in this. He only shows up when the script makes room for him, but steals the show anyway. When have you ever done anything remotely interesting or original?
>> More of that, please. So many times Homelander could have lasered his ass, but doesn't due to his psychological dominance. Isn't that what the show was building up to the mind of Homelander?
>> Your need for love is so deep. It's so human.
>> But you sideline Stan Edgar as a bridge for Homelander to get V1, which leads to more Vault Rising promo. The lack of care leads scenes to feel pointless with no payoff. Mm vows to kill Edgar if he returns. And what happens?
>> I've agreed to return to Vault as its interim CEO.
>> Oh well, I guess he [ __ ] forgot. You go from episode to episode with the expectation that all right, this is it.
>> The big one.
>> Keep [ __ ] going, Ashley. Don't stop.
>> All to be disappointed with filler. Even Gen V got screwed over.
>> What goods? All that power, Marie, if you can't control it. What are you talking about? The girl mastered bloodbending and can raise the [ __ ] dead.
>> [ __ ] >> And to top it off, the showrunner spoiled Homelander's death right before the finale.
>> Our notion was like their story was not over just because Homelander's dead.
There was a whole other interesting space.
>> What the hell did you just say?
>> That's the behavior of a man who knew his script was garbage and just checked out. This season had its moments, but the bad outweighs the good. Anthony Star going full-on pathetic as Homelander was an absolute masterclass.
>> I'll [ __ ] suck your dick.
>> And Ryan was brilliant this season. It's cool to see this kid belittle Homelander right to his face. Get [ __ ] Instead of being a pawn between Butcher and Homelander, he decides who he's fighting for.
>> I chose myself. This series has always been about damaged people. But the fact is, >> you might have a broken [ __ ] heart, but you have one.
>> But for me, it's just too late. You can't ignore the main cast all season, force their development into one episode, and expect the payoff to mean anything. The idea of Kamiko with Soulja Boy's chest blast is so out of place.
It's like the writers decided how they wanted the story to end, but had no idea how to get there. The power scaling makes no sense. How does it take a whole team to stop Soulja Boy, but when Homelander gets V1, he's the exact same?
I wanted to see Homelander take over the country cause real havoc, but we're limited to a live broadcast. The Boys used to be a show that mocked real life and didn't apologize for it. And having Billy's last moments be at the hands of Huey is a faithful end in a sense. Billy lets go of the detonator, but the tragedy is it's already too late. He spares Huey guilt by saying, >> "It's all right, Huie. I weren't going to stop it."
>> But was he? This scene feels up for interpretation. And that conflict Billy had between the people he loves and his crusade is what killed him. I don't hate the ending, but the buildup towards it takes the enjoyment away. It made the story feel disconnected from everything else that was going on. They spent so much time thinking, "What do we do after the boys finale that they didn't leave room for the characters people stay for?" People love to argue, fans hate finales. But at this point, we've seen enough bad endings to know what not to do.
