This presentation successfully distills atmospheric complexity into actionable risk metrics, demonstrating the practical value of empirical data. However, it functions more as a pragmatic safety tool than a rigorous exploration of meteorological theory.

Houston weather: May 23 overnight forecastAdded:
Really early this week. So, let's talk about some rain totals over the last 5 days, really since late Monday. Some of you have picked up over a foot of rain in Brazoria County. Check out the areas near Lake Jackson, a ton of rainfall.
So, like I said, thank goodness we've had some breaks in between all of this rain to kind of let the water levels go down a bit. Otherwise, our flooding would be even worse. But, even right around Sugar Land, Houston, over the last 5 days, anywhere from 6, 7, almost 8 in of rain. The Woodlands picking up close to 4 in of rain. So, it has been a mess, to say the least, over the last several days. But, thank goodness, all of the downpours we dealt with earlier today are gone. Even up towards College Station, where we did have our most recent flash flood warning. Well, that's gone, too. In its place, we've got an aerial flood warning through about 10:30 p.m. because the flood waters are still kind of there. They're starting to go down, but there were reports of cars stranded around College Station. And also, earlier, we had reports of cars stranded, as well, for parts of the Bellaire area in Houston.
So, it was kind of messy this afternoon, this evening. We've still got tons of moisture in place, and another disturbance that will likely swing into the area tomorrow. So, I think it's a setup, once again, for the potential for more flooding for Sunday. I don't think it's going to be as bad, and I think the biggest risk is going to be right around Houston and areas east. But, we all remain in that flood watch, with the exception of College Station, until Monday evening. It ends around 7:00 p.m.
So, you may have had to postpone some pool, some lake, some beach plans today.
Maybe you can squeeze it in over the next few days. I think we will have a few more longer dry periods, but there's still going to be some spotty to scattered downpours mixed in for Sunday and Monday. We're still under our Fox 26 storm alert because I can't give you the all clear just yet. We are going to have a little bit of sun, some dry time, but there's still going to be heavy burst of rain, maybe a strong to severe storm.
And guess what? We don't break out of this pattern anytime soon. We're going to stay this way probably for the next 7 days. I think rain chances get lower next week, but they're not going to be erased. So, we have about a 60% shot for showers and storms Sunday during the day, 40% Sunday night, down to 40% though during the day on Memorial Day.
So, that's a little bit of better news for you, and rain and storm chances all the way down to 30% for Tuesday. Rain totals are not going to be as big over the next few days. I think between Houston and uh Liberty up to Livingston down to Galveston, anywhere from 1 to 3 in of additional rain with likely some lower totals off to the northwest. So, I think for the most part, the rain will be manageable, but it's if we get those slow-moving storms to kind of sit over some of the same areas a little too long, overstay their welcome, that's when we could get some flooding, and we don't want that. So, let's just hope the storms kind of keep moving quickly, and they don't sit over one spot for too long. So, a slightly lower risk for flooding tomorrow. It's a level one out of four for Sunday. We were two out of four today, and then the flood risk kind of shifts just to the east of Houston for Memorial Day. So, I think day by day, things will get a little bit better with the coverage of storms lower, but there's still going to be a chance for some disruptions for your lake, your beach, and your pool plans. Whether where you live tomorrow, Pasadena, just keep the rain gear with you. Be ready to head inside and get out of the pool just in case lightning starts to build in some of those storms. We had a lot of lightning this morning and this afternoon. Tomball, same story. Spotty showers and storms, about a 50 to 60% chance for tomorrow. And Katy, yes, there will be the potential for more flooded streets, and definitely more heavy rain. Pool forecast was horrible today. It was not a good day to take a dip. I think there will be a 60% chance for some issues with your pool time tomorrow, but for Monday, rain and storm chances down to 40%. Galveston still looking a little stormy for you for Sunday, but there will be some drier periods on Memorial Day. Overall, watch out for off-and-on, hit-or-miss showers and storms all the way through next week, but like I said, other than Wednesday and Thursday, those rain chances will be a bit lower for parts of next week.
