Those Marks on Your Hemlock Are Actually Saving It #DIY #homeimprovementHinzugefügt:
Now, if you follow my Instagram page, which is @drdex, I I've had this question a thousand times so far. What are all these little marks in the pressure-treated lumber?
What kind of lumber is this? Well, in the Pacific Northwest, we use a lot of pressure-treated hemlock. So, this is pressure-treated hemlock, and all these marks inside of it are called incisions.
This is called incised lumber. The reason they incise lumber [snorts] is to push the pressure treatment deeper into the wood. So, that's what help keeps the chemicals into our materials to keep it from rot and decay and having other bugs and drills going off in my head.
