Fox cubs around 12 weeks old begin leaving their dens in mid-May to learn essential survival skills such as hunting, adapting to new smells, and becoming accustomed to various noises, making spring an optimal time for observing these young foxes as they become more adventurous and explore their surroundings.

Fox cubs pay a visit to hide....Added:
Hello there. All right, just thought I'd do another video, something a little bit different to me previous three.
Um, just a bit of a local one. I'm just going to go into a bird hide. This uh bird hide is opposite uh Thornley Wood Center.
Um to be honest, it's a bird hide that I didn't really bother with a load. Um when you de come in, you normally see gray squirrels, mag pies, your blue tits, your gray tits, nout flash, but like this time of year, I think it's a good time to see the unexpected. And uh I've been in a couple of times recently and I've seen a Tory owl up the far end when we got in. I'll show you it up the far end. I've seen a Tony owl flying about at the back and the the black birds have uh been harassing it. So, and I've heard that a couple of nights. I haven't uh seen it to get any video or like a proper shot of it, but I've also heard a long owl as well in the trees.
I can hear that. Again, I haven't seen this, but um I'm going to go in the night, spend two hours, maybe three hours, and I'm going to video just little bits and bobs and see what we can see.
Hopefully, I can get a half decent video out of it. But, as you can see, it's a lovely surrounding anyway. And I'll be honest with you, I like this wooden walkway as well. I'm a sucker for a wooden walkway. But how about the the bird height and see what see what's going on?
Well, What can I say? Belter.
Absolutely magic.
Wasn't expecting that at all.
Uh [clears throat] oh. Wow.
Anyway, in the video you'll have seen um the J. You get the J all the time. You get the woodpeckers in um the great spotted woodpeckers. Uh, the one with the red cap on, that's the male. The plain black one, that's the [snorts] that's the female. But there was the bank, which I love.
Absolutely love bank.
Love uh photographing them and a field mouse coming out the same hole. So, it makes me wonder what's going on underneath that hole. There must be a couple of tunnels or or whatever or it leads to somewhere else. But they're they're sharing it. Uh the field mouth is a weird thing, but uh the bank fall I love them. But uh at the end there just totally took us by surprise. Two foxes got a video of one of them. The second one came from the right. Um and I just couldn't pick the camera up to get it.
But uh that uh I'll take a fox cub all day.
Absolutely my favorite to photograph.
Absolutely uh love foxes. But um to get a fox cub like that unexpected is just amazing over the knot uh with that. But um that would have been about roughly 12 weeks old.
I should be careful for the road here.
That would have been about 12 weeks old that um and it's about then the middle of where middle of May the start leaving the bour den um and adventuring learning like skills that it needs like sort of hunting like just getting used to smells getting used to noises and what have you. So it's a great time to see them. Um to be honest that that's one of the reasons why I went there just on the off chance cuz like I say it's this the time of year when they are moving around the they're basically like leave the leave the uh ber & den where they are where they've been brought up fed what have you and uh they get like a lot more adventurous and that uh sorry I'm just absolutely buzzing from that. Cannot believe it.
Uh, absolutely amazing. So, I'm chuffed a bit that otherwise it would have been a video of just a woodpecker, a gain, uh, a bank for, but uh, over the not. But there you go. With wildlife, just always expect the unexpected. You just never know what's going to come around the corner. You didn't, that's what I love about it. I love waiting waiting for it.
And there's loads of times you didn't see now. But, uh, that one's perfect.
Anyway, cheers for watching. Um, I'll catch you soon. Give us a like, get subscribe if you've just come across us.
Uh, watch me videos and all that. And, um, I'll catch you soon. See you later.
