Insulin resistance is a silent metabolic condition that precedes pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes, affecting every organ system in the body including the heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys, while also causing brain inflammation linked to depression, stress, and anxiety; it is primarily caused by excessive carbohydrate and sugar consumption, and can be prevented or reversed through lifestyle interventions such as time-restricted eating, walking after meals, and strength training, rather than medication which only masks symptoms without addressing the root cause.

The SILENT Disease Destroying Your Body BEFORE DiabetesAdded:
If you truly seek health and well-being, then one of the best goals that you could have is avoiding becoming insulin resistant. This is the precursor to pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. But what you have to understand is that having insulin resistance puts you at risk of a vast array of problems.
Inflammation, almost every single disease process, physical and mental, has a link to insulin resistance. And the medical establishment is way behind on how to even note and understand when somebody is insulin resistant. Because by the time HbA1c and blood sugar start going up, somebody has already been insulin resistant for years, usually sometimes over a decade. And actually, if fasting insulin levels are checked, then the diagnosis can be made much earlier, and people, if they want to listen, can understand that the focus has to be on lifestyle. That is the only thing that will really save you from the devastation of insulin resistance. So let me go over three reasons here why focusing on insulin resistance and avoiding at all costs becoming type 2 diabetic is so important. Number three, every organ system in your body is affected by pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. I want you to think about this. In your whole bloodstream, there's only about a teaspoon, about 4 g of sugar. Sugar is so toxic to the human body that as soon as you consume it, the pancreas goes into overdrive. It secretes insulin to lower your blood sugar. Because all you have to do is look at what happens to advanced diabetics who have chronically elevated blood sugar. Basically, every organ is affected. The heart, the liver, the lungs, the kidneys. Amputations occur because blood vessels get affected. Does this mean that you can never consume sugar? No, that's not what this means.
It means that unfortunately, hundreds of millions of people are overloading their body with sugar. And what you have to remember is that carbohydrates get converted into sugar. So, if you have a diet which is very high in carbohydrates, you're over consuming carbohydrates which are also calorie dense. That is eventually going to lead to insulin resistance. So, if you want to save your organs, please avoid becoming insulin resistant and then pre-diabetic and then type 2 diabetes eventually would be the worst thing.
Number two, your mental health. There is some research on this, but as a rule, the medical establishment does not focus enough on the intrinsic link between the body being inflamed, which is what insulin resistance is, and the brain being inflamed. The two are directly linked. That is why often excessive body fat, which is basically insulin resistance and inflammation, goes with depression, stress, anxiety. So, this is not about the physical body, as it were, completely. It's also about mental health. You take any condition out there, even the more severe mental health issues, there have been studies showing that if people start on a diet which heavily restricts carbohydrates and sugars, then there can be an improvement. Am I saying everybody is going to be cured? No. But, I would hazard a guess that a large number of people who consume a sub-optimal diet can have massive improvements in their mental health. So, that's another reason why you don't want to become insulin resistant and have those high circulating insulin levels because insulin is pro-inflammatory and it will cause brain inflammation.
And number one, being in shape. Do you want to be in shape? I'm assuming most of you here probably already in shape.
You're doing a lot of the right things, but of course, it helps to always be reminded because insulin resistance equals body fat excess most of the time.
Body fat in excess is inflammation and insulin resistance, and insulin is a pro-inflammatory fat storage hormone.
So, focus on keeping your insulin levels low, and you're much less likely to be overweight or obese. A good technique to utilize works for many people is time-restricted eating or intermittent fasting. So, if you only eat during a 6-8 hour window, so for example, noon to 6:00 p.m., or some people like to do 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, you work that, that means that potentially 14 to 20 hours, even if you do a 4-hour window, whatever it is, most of the day, if you institute time-restricted eating, your insulin levels are naturally low because you're not eating, and you don't have those insulin spikes, so you're much less likely to become insulin resistant. Insulin resistance is linked to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, in fact, it's the number one reason for high blood pressure and high cholesterol nowadays, autoimmune disease, heart disease, even cancer because it's basically inflammation. So, I'll come back to the title of this video. If you want to be healthy, a good thing to focus on, as well as obviously all of the health habits, is avoiding becoming insulin resistant. Think about your health journey in terms of is this naturally keeping my insulin levels low?
Am I avoiding excessive carbs and sugars? Am I saying no to the treat and the snack? Am I walking a lot? Walking after meals is great for improving insulin sensitivity. Am I doing some strength training? Building up muscle mass? Frame everything in terms of reversing insulin resistance because the very worst thing that can happen to you, or I would say one of the worst things, is getting type 2 diabetes because despite what the medical establishment says, medications are not the answer.
They will artificially reduce your blood sugar, but they're not fixing the root cause problem of high insulin and fat. I believe future generations are going to look back and think, "Wait a minute.
People with type 2 diabetes are insulin resistant. They have way too much insulin. Why are you giving them more insulin on top, which is pro-inflammatory fat storage hormone?"
This is why we have the health catastrophe we have, because you can't fix this problem with more medications and injections. You're fighting a losing battle. If people keep on consuming the carbs and sugars, that's why I think 100 years ago people had a much better chance because basically type 2 diabetes was so rare and doctors would look people in the eye and say, "You need to cut back on your sugar and carbs, and you need to eat less." And then people would kind of have no choice because they'd be told if you don't do that, you're going to die. This is the great dichotomy of modern medicine.
Prescriptions keep going up, rates of illness keep going up, but we're forgetting the fundamental issue here.
But I assume if you're watching this video, you're already aware of a lot of these things. But I would urge you, everybody needs to be reminded, keep going on your health journey, and it's about reversing any insulin resistance, keeping your inflammation low, and trying to be in the best shape possible, naturally burn body fat.
