The film effectively uses body horror as a metaphor for the parasitic nature of imperialist expansion and historical trauma. It transforms a standard creature feature into a sharp, visceral critique of the lasting scars left by war.

The movie then shows footage from the Greater East Asia War in 1945. A man's voice over explains that during World War II, the Imperial Japanese Army marched into the Asia-Pacific region.
The Thai government allowed the Japanese to build a railway from Thailand to Burma for transporting troops and weapons. We then see a man informing Chief Akira that they have lost contact with the soldiers sent to retrieve the prisoners. Akira orders them to bring the soldiers back at any cost. Soon after, the commander arrives and questions why the construction work is progressing so slowly. Akira explains that they are short on labor, but the commander orders the workers to be pushed harder. When he notices some workers resting, Akira says it is their break time. Furious, the commander slaps him and orders that no one should be given breaks before leaving. Akira's voiceover continues saying that he has been tasked by the Japanese army with overseeing the construction of the railway across the Thailand Burma border. They need a large labor force for the project and most of the workers are prisoners of war and ethnic locals living along the border. However, one ethnic tribe refused to cooperate and declared themselves enemies of the Japanese. As a result, Commander Nakamura raided their village and forced them to work for the army. Their leader, Norton, managed to escape, and since then, he has repeatedly sneaked into the camp and freed several prisoners. Akira describes Norton as a dangerous rebel whom they want captured, dead or alive.
We then see soldiers trying to stop a prisoner who is attempting to escape through a cave. They shoot him and run him over with their jeep, killing him.
However, the jeep suddenly stops and refuses to move forward. At that moment, Norton attacks the soldiers and a fight breaks out. Nortong eventually escapes, but one of the soldiers suddenly sees a gigantic monster approaching him.
Terrified and unable to flee. He screams in horror. Akira later says that the soldiers they sent have gone missing.
According to the locals, a vile demon lives in the mountains. a creature resembling a monster from Japanese folklore called Amukade. The scene then cuts to Akira meeting a man named Bonchu and telling him that he needs more laborers. Bonchu replies that he has already gathered people from the entire province and to get more workers he would have to bring them from another province which would cost extra money.
Akira agrees to pay and Bonu asks for a few days to arrange it. Akira agrees and leaves. We then see an elderly woman named Mayo traveling with several innocent young girls who are being brought as service girls for the commander. Later that night, one of the girls, Sonor, is sent to the commander's room. He enters and begins undressing himself, but soon starts brutally abusing her. Sonor fights back fiercely, leading to an intense struggle between them, revealing that she is equally powerful. The commander draws his sword to attack her, but Senor overpowers him and turns the sword against him instead.
Hearing the chaos, the guards outside rush upstairs to investigate, but Senor kills them as well. She eventually brutally murders the commander and escapes. In the next scene, we see Mayo badly injured. A soldier questions her about where she found the girl. The woman explains that Sonor had simply asked for work and that she knows nothing about her background. She insists that she had no idea Seor was capable of such violent acts. Just as the soldiers is about to beat her further, Akira stops him. At that moment, another soldier informs Akira that a prisoner has escaped, a British soldier. The scene then cuts to Seenor cautiously walking outdoors while holding a lamp. Suddenly, someone points a gun at her head and asks for the passcode. She answers correctly and the man is revealed to be Bonshu who then calls out to the British soldier and assures him that Sor is one of them. Sor asks them to follow her and questions Bonchu about why they are helping the British man Tim. Bonu replies that Tim is an officer from their side and they cannot leave him there to die. The next morning, Senor and the others arrive at a river crossing where she asks a man if the raft is ready. However, Japanese soldiers suddenly appear and shoot the man, ordering everyone to surrender.
Bonchu throws down his gun and even offers them all the money he has, but the soldiers refuse. At that moment, two escaped prisoners attack the Japanese soldiers. While Sonor kills another one herself, the prisoners ask Bonchu to take them along, but he refuses, saying they are not part of his mission.
However, one of them, Ravi, snatches Bonchu's gold chain and threatens him into taking them along. We then see an elephant wandering through the forest when sudden chaos erupts in the jungle.
Moments later, it is revealed that the giant monster Omukaday has attacked the elephant in the same mountains where Sanor is leading the group. The scene cuts to all five of them walking together. Tim asks Bonchu how he knows Sor. Bonchu explains that Norton, Sonor's father, is the leader of Unit 130, a rebel group allied against the Japanese. He says Norton helped free many prisoners from Japanese camps. Tim then asks why Nordong is not leading them himself, but Bonu replies that he does not know. Tim doubts whether Sor has as much experience as her father, but Bonu says they have no other choice.
Later, we see Sor checking a handdrawn map in her diary. She tells Bonchu that they will have to pass through a mine.
Bonchu asks if the mine leads all the way to Burma, and Senor explains that it was dug during her father's time, but was abandoned after the war began. Bonu asks if she has ever gone through it herself. When Sor remains silent, he questions how she can be so sure the mine leads to Burma. Sne replies that her father used to work there. Bonju then asks why her father is not here to guide them. But Sonora tells everyone not to panic, saying her father drew her a map and she can lead them safely. She then enters the mine and the others follow her inside. She then tells them to rest before continuing. She goes into a corner to change her clothes while the others relax, but Ravi secretly goes to check on her. Sensing him nearby, Sonor quickly blows out her lamp and hides. At that moment, Japanese soldiers arrive outside the mine and kill the other looter. The soldiers ask Akira if they should kill Tim and Bonshu as well. But Akira stops them, saying he needs to interrogate them first to find out who is behind all of this. Akira points a gun at Bonshu and asks why he betrayed him. Just then, one of Akira's men, Renja, informs him that there were originally five people in the group and that two are still missing. Renja is a local man who works alongside the Japanese soldiers. Meanwhile, Senor hides inside the mine while Renja hears a strange noise coming from deeper within. As he moves forward to investigate, Senor suddenly notices a giant centipede crawling near her and onto her body. Renja spots her as well.
Quickly pulls out his knife and kills the creature. Seeing Senor, Renja softens. And when Akira asks if he found anyone inside, Renja lies and says no.
Furious, Akira tells him that if he cannot find them, he can stay there himself. Akira then heads deeper into the mine with two soldiers to search for them personally. As they move ahead, they suddenly hear the sound of airplanes overhead and rush outside to check. They see three Allied planes flying toward the Japanese camp. Tim and Bonchu laugh as the planes begin bombing the railway and bridge the Japanese had been constructing. The planes then attack the camp itself and some of them also bomb the mine area where Akira and his soldiers are located. The explosions awaken the monstrous creature lurking within the mountains. Sometime later, the mine is left completely dark and Akira desperately searches for his soldiers. He finds one of them, Oda, trapped under rubble but still alive.
Oda tells Akira that he will not survive and urges him to leave him behind.
Meanwhile, Tim manages to free himself and hears someone pleading for help. He takes a torch from a nearby bag and discovers one of Akira's wounded soldiers begging for mercy. Instead of helping, Tim grabs a rock and repeatedly smashes the soldier's face until he dies. Another soldier arrives, but Bonchu stops him. Just then, Akira appears and asks Bonchu if he knew the Allied planes were going to bomb the cave. Bonu replies that Akira should actually thank him because if he had remained at the camp, he would have been blown to pieces. Bonchu accuses Akira of betraying the Thai people after pretending to be their ally and says Japan will soon lose the war. Akira insists they will not lose, claiming that once the railway is completed, Japan will be victorious. Bonchu angrily shouts that the railway has already been destroyed by the bombing. He then pushes the soldiers aside and escapes. The soldier's name is Tamara and he breaks down crying over the loss of his comrades. The movie then briefly shows the monster once again lurking in the darkness. The scene cuts to Senor with Renja. Zanur says the bombers must have belonged to Tim's side. Renja asks if she knew they were going to bomb the place, but Seenor denies it and explains that Bonshu only hired her to escort Tim out safely. She believes they waited until Tim was out of danger before launching the attack. Renja questions why they would risk so much to save just one man, but Senor replies that following Bonu's instructions is all that matters to her. She then begins searching for the wrote in her notebook.
Just then, Ravi arrives and seeing Renja accuses him of working for the Japanese.
He immediately attacks them, leading to an intense fight. Sur and Renja eventually overpower Ravi and throw him off a cliff. But during the struggle, Sonor's necklace falls down as well.
Meanwhile, Tim and Bonchu light a lamp and continue moving deeper into the cave. Unnoticed by them, a giant monster silently crawls past behind them in the darkness. The scene then cuts to Akira and Tamara. Tamara asks Akira whether if Japan loses the war, they will have any choice other than suicide. Akira tells him to stay positive and explains that the collapsed rocks have blocked all the exits, so they must find another way out. Tamara suggests blasting their way through using dynamite, but Akira refuses, saying they would end up like Oda. The two then go to check on Oda, only to be horrified when they discover that his body has been cut in half and his upper torso is missing. A trail of blood leads upward and ends at the ceiling of the cave. Elsewhere, Ravi regains consciousness after the fall and senses something moving around him. He lights a flare and realizes that dozens of giant centipedes are crawling all around him. Terrified, he screams only to see an even larger centipede approaching him. The creature attacks and kills him. The scene then cuts back to Sonor who finds a rope nearby and tells Renja that she is going down to retrieve her necklace. Renja asks what is so special about it and Sonor explains that her father made it for her. Renja stops her and says he will go down instead. Using the rope, Renja climbs down and starts searching for the necklace. He notices that Ravi's body is gone, leaving behind only bloody rocks and a piece of cloth. Ignoring it, he eventually finds the necklace. But just as he is about to climb back up, he hears something and suddenly sees Ravi in a demonic form. Terrified, Renja desperately tries to climb the rope, but the demon grabs him and attempts to pull him down. Just as Renja is about to escape, the demon's head unnaturally extends toward him from its neck. Just then, Sonora attacks the creature and saves Renja. The scene then cuts to Bonshu and Tim cautiously walking through the cave when they come across a pile of bones covered in fresh blood.
Ignoring it, they continue forward and spot a demon sitting in the distance.
Bonchu calls out asking who is there, and the creature slowly stands up.
Bonchu and Tim immediately open fire, and after several shots, the demon collapses. Bonu approaches it and shoots again, but the creature suddenly rises back up. Out of bullets, Bonu throws the lamp at it. The demon attacks him, but Tim quickly pours kerosene from the lamp onto the creature and sets it on fire, killing it before their eyes. Later, Senor asks Renja what could have turned Ravi into a demon. Renja suggests that the same thing may have happened to the missing miners and asks if she has heard anything about it before. Sonor says her father once told her stories about it.
Rena then asks why her father did not come with them. Sonia reveals that he disappeared the last time he rescued prisoners from the Japanese camps, but she still believes he is alive.
Meanwhile, Tim lights a matchstick and closely examines the dead demon, asking Bonshu if he recognizes it. Bonchu says he has never seen anything like it before. Suddenly, the demon moves again.
The scene then cuts to Akira and Tamara who notice fresh blood mixed with the water beneath their feet. Following the trail, they first discover a dead animal and then the body of a dead man, terrifying Tamara. Moments later, they see someone approaching them strangely through the darkness. It is Bonchu.
Blood suddenly pours from Bonchu's mouth as he begins transforming into a demon.
Akira and Tamara shoot him repeatedly, but it has no effect. Akira then draws his sword and slices Bonchu's head. But instead of dying, his head hangs backward unnaturally before transforming into a demonic centipede that extends toward Akira. Horrified, Tamara slashes the creature with his sword, sending Bonshu's head flying away. He then stabs it until it finally dies and the two flee from the area. We then see Sor asking Renja why he joined the Japanese side. Rena explains that Akira saved him after he contracted malaria and ever since then he has been working for him.
Sonia reminds him that the Japanese destroyed their village and says that after spending so much time with them he has become one of them. Renja denies this insisting that he is still on her side. Meanwhile, Akira and Tamara come across a giant jelly-like shell shaped like a centipede and wonder what it is.
Tamara suggests that it could be the mol of the almukaday, a monster from Japanese folklore that hides inside the bodies of humans or animals. Just then, Sor hears a noise and Rena tells her to stay hidden while he goes to investigate. Akira and Tamara spot him and Tamara becomes suspicious, wondering if the creature might already be inside him. Akira points out that the Amukad fears fire yet Renja is carrying a torch. He then asks Renjo where he has been and informs him that the cave entrance has collapsed. Renjo replies that he already knows and is also searching for another way out. He then deliberately leads the two men away from Sonier's hiding spot. Meanwhile, Sennor notices someone moving deeper into the cave and thinking it might be her father follows him. After walking quite far, she removes the necklace her father made for her and blows the whistle attached to it. Rena hears the sound and begins searching for her. As Senior moves ahead, she suddenly bumps into something and is horrified to discover the skeleton of a soldier with a knife lodged in its skull. At that moment, Tim arrives in terror and tells her that a monster tried to attack him deeper inside the cave. Senor asks about Bonchu, but Tim says he does not know whether he is alive or dead. Sonia then pulls the knife out of the skeleton's skull while Tim picks up a gun and takes the flashlight as well. Suddenly, they hear strange noises and growling sounds.
Moments later, several demonic men appear and begin haunting them. Tim and Senor immediately start shooting and attacking them, and an intense fight erupts between the demons and the two survivors. Working together, Tim and Senor managed to kill all of the demonic men. However, just as they begin moving forward, they hear a crawling sound and the monster suddenly drags Tim away.
Sonia turns around and realizes that Tim has vanished. Hearing the crawling sound again, she slowly steps back when all of a sudden, a flashlight falls from above.
She picks it up and looks upward, but finds nothing there. A moment later, a giant monster suddenly grabs her as well, and the scene cuts to black.
Later, Rena finds Senor's whistle necklace lying on the ground and begins searching for her. Just then, he notices a trail of blood and cautiously follows it until he spots a man in the distance eating raw meat. Renja readies his knife to attack, but when the man suddenly runs toward him, he realizes that it is Norong. Renja shows him Senor's necklace and blows the whistle attached to it.
Hearing the sound, Norton remembers making the necklace for his daughter Seenor, telling her that whenever she blew the whistle, he would come to protect her. In the present, Norangong breaks down in tears as memories of Senor come flooding back to him. He then notices Akira and Tamara in the background and remembers how the Japanese soldiers attacked his village.
Instantly filled with rage, Norton charges toward them to attack, but Renja stops him, giving Akira and Tamara enough time to escape. Rena calms Norton down and hands him Sonora's necklace. He then asks why he is in such a horrifying condition. Nor explains that he was helping the prisoners escape when the monster suddenly appeared and killed everyone. Fortunately, he fell into a hole between the rocks. He says the monster was too massive to squeeze through, which is how he survived.
Nortang then asks Renja where he found Sonor's necklace. Renja replies that Sonora is here and must have dropped it, but admits that he has no idea where she is now. Nortang then advises him to apply the mol of the tabong plum centipede, explaining that if he rubs it on his body, the creatures will mistake him for one of their own. Renja follows his instructions. On the other hand, after failing to find a way out, Tamara and Akira decide to go back and follow Renja and Nortong. They quietly begin trailing them from a distance. As they move deeper into the cave, Norton tells Renja that the mine lies deep underwater and that they will have to dive through it to find an exit. Renja asks why Norton has not escaped already, and Norton replies that it is not as simple as it sounds. Further ahead, Renja finds another one of Sanor's belongings lying on the ground and shows it to Norong.
Nortang then tells him about the centipedes crawling across the floor. He explains that these centipedes are slaves of the Tabong plum, an ancient species that has lived in the cave for centuries. Their venomous fangs paralyze their prey before burrowing into their flesh and turning them into walking monsters that serve Tabong Plum in return. Soon, Renja and Nortong pass through an area where numerous demonic men are standing motionless. However, the creatures do not attack them because they have covered themselves with the mol of the tabong plum centipede. Seeing this, Tamara and Akira also try to pass through quietly. But the demonic men suddenly become active. The creatures transform into their horrifying demonic forms and begin attacking them. Akira and Tamara fight back fiercely while meanwhile Renja and Norong finally arrive near the enormous Tabong plum centipede. The sight of the gigantic creature leaves both of them stunned.
Nortang then says that the queen is hatching and they must find Senor immediately. The true form of the giant Tabong plum centipede is then revealed in close detail. Inside its massive body, it keeps living humans trapped for a period of time. And when they finally emerge, they become walking monsters that serve the creature in return. Rena eventually spots Sor trapped inside the monster's body and carefully tries to cut through its skin, but the creature suddenly begins moving. Meanwhile, Akira and Tamora are still fighting the walking demons when the creatures suddenly run away. Confused by what just happened, the two then come face to face with a gigantic centipede-like monster.
It is revealed to be the same elephant that the tab and plum centipede attacked earlier. When Akira strikes it with his sword, the blade shatters instantly.
Akira and Tamara try to escape, but the creature brutally kills Tamara right in front of Akira. In his final moments, Tamara pulls out a stick of dynamite from his pocket and detonates it, causing the creature to explode. The explosion is felt deep inside the cave as well, and Renja quickly manages to pull Sonia out of the creature's body.
At that moment, Tim also calls out to Renja for help. Rocks begin falling throughout the cave while giant centipedes start emerging from inside the creature. Renja helps Tim escape from the creature's body. But suddenly one of the centipedes attacks Senor.
Soon the entire cave is swarming with giant centipedes and one of them crawls onto Renja trying to kill him. Just then Norong strikes the centipede attacking Sor and urges everyone to run. At the same time, two centipedes attacked Tim and begin crawling into his mouth. More walking demon creatures also start emerging from inside the monster.
Meanwhile, Renja continues struggling against the centipede, attacking him until Sor finally saves him. Nor Tong tells everyone to run away, but Senor suddenly falls to the ground. One walking demon attacks Norong while another lunges at Sanor. Nor Tong manages to kill the one attacking him, and Renja rescues Tim. Nor Tong then saves Senor once again and helps her back to her feet. Finally, the main creature rises completely and a centipede suddenly bursts out from the head of one of the walking demons. Sonor immediately crushes it beneath her foot.
Now fully awakened, the main demon lets out a deafening roar. Everyone starts running as the creature chases after them at incredible speed. While they flee through the cave, the monster rapidly crawls behind them, causing the entire cave to collapse. As a result, part of the creature's body gets trapped beneath the falling debris. Just then, Renja hears Akira screaming for help.
Akira is pinned under the rubble, and Renja rushes to save him. At that moment, the creature tears its trapped lower body apart and continues moving forward. As soon as Akira and Renja begin running again, the cave starts collapsing even more violently.
Suddenly, the creature attacks again and the scene cuts underwater where we see Norong swimming with Tim following behind him. Akira also manages to swim through and the three eventually resurface safely. Moments later, Sonor appears underwater, but the creature grabs her leg with its tentacles. She pulls out her knife and tries to cut through them, but fails. The creature drags her closer, and Senor desperately stabs at it with the knife. However, at that moment, she loses consciousness.
Norton screams Seur's name and dives back underwater to find out why she has not resurfaced yet. In her unconscious state, Sonier finds herself in another realm. Meanwhile, in reality, Renja swims toward her from behind, grabs her, and brings her back to the surface. He carries her out of the water, and everyone realizes that Sonor is no longer breathing. Nortong blows the whistle attached to her necklace and in the other realm, Sor hears the sound. In reality, Nortong breaks down in tears for his daughter. Akira then tells Renja that he never wants to see his face again and walks away. But suddenly, they hear the creature roaring once more and realize that it has escaped from the cave as well. With Zor as its target, Renja immediately attacks the creature to stop it while Norton and Tim also join the fight. The creature grabs Tim with its tentacles, but Norton and Renja manage to save him. Just then, Akira comes running back and stabs the monster. Enraged, the creature throws everyone aside and moves toward Norton.
At that very moment, Sor suddenly returns and stabs the creature in the head. Renja attacks it as well, and together, the four of them tear the monster apart before Senor delivers the final blow. And the scene cuts to black.
As they finally emerge from the cave, Akira's voice over begins. He says that everyone loves and is willing to protect their homeland. In the face of invasion, people must fight to the death to save the home they never wish to lose, just like the Amu Cadet, which fought fearlessly to protect its nest. He adds that if he had a choice, he would never want to be the invader. But in reality, he never had a choice. Soon, a jeep carrying British soldiers arrives at the location. Tim introduces himself as Lieutenant Tim of the Royal Navy. The soldiers then inform him that Japan has surrendered. Hearing this news, Akira breaks down in tears. In the ending scenes, the British soldiers along with Tim take Akira away as a prisoner of war while leaving the others behind. Akira's final voice over reveals that after Japan lost the war, he became a prisoner of war. But for the first time, he also experienced the taste of freedom. He says that the future, once filled with darkness, has finally become brighter and that the wounds caused by the war slowly began to fade with time. With this, the movie comes to an end.
