The Lip Filler Trend Is Starting To BackfireAdded:
I need some honesty. Do you think it's a bad idea to get lip filler when you have virtually no upper lip?
>> When I tell you don't get lip fillers, believe them.
Every time I sleep on this side of my face, the lip filler migrates all the way over there. And every time everyone I'll be having to go like this, go like this, go like this.
It's It's time to take these out.
>> [laughter] >> It's time to take them out for real. I'm about to get half a syringe of lip filler. This is my before. I've never gotten anything done. I'm so nervous. Um but I just got paid and half a syringe is only like 300 at this place. So, before Small lumps and dents are normal the first My lips feel so weird. I'm numbing.
I'm numbing for 20 minutes. This is so embarrassing. I keep drooling. My phone died on the way back, but that is the best decision I think I've ever made.
I love them. Oh my gosh. So, everyone said that it was super painful and y'all like when it would go in I wouldn't even feel it until it was coming out and I would just be looking down like seeing the needle like in my lips. Like it did not hurt at all. I numbed for like 30 minutes total though. Um it kind of hurts to go like like to try to you know rub my lips together. That hurts right now, but other than that I They're swollen right now, so they'll go down, but like I don't want them to.
>> Today we're talking about lip filler, lip filler migration, dissolving filler, and the very complicated relationship a lot of people have with wanting fuller lips.
And I want to say this up front. This is not about judging anyone who has filler, wants filler, loves their filler, or feels more confident with it. People are allowed to make decisions about their own face. But after listening to these stories, it is clear that lip filler is not always the quick, simple confidence boost it is made to look like online.
Because for every person saying "This was the best decision I ever made." there's another person saying "I want my small lips back." [music] And that is where the conversation gets interesting. Lip filler can look beautiful when it is done well, but it can also come with swelling, migration, lumps, dissolving appointments, anxiety, regret, and the feeling that once you start, you are constantly maintaining, fixing, or restarting. Come with me to get lip filler for the first time.
Here's a quick little before of my lips fully relaxed, and off we go. I went to Nia, you can find her at snatched_TO on Instagram and TikTok. You guys, when I tell you I was so nervous going into this, but she made me feel so comfortable. Not only is she amazing at what she does, but she's also so sweet.
If you're looking to get your lips done in Toronto, I highly recommend going to her. We started with a little consult. I told her I wanted it to be really subtle and natural, and then I just wanted a little bit of volume in my top lip. I actually originally only wanted to do the top lip, but we ended up adding a bit of filler to the bottom as well, just cuz they were uneven and one side was fuller than the other. We ended up doing 0.7 ml total. Here are my lips right after. You guys, I'm not kidding.
I was about to have a panic attack, but she assured me that the swelling would go down. I'm just a panicker by nature.
After the lips, we also did a few units of Botox just for a little brow lift.
It's only been a week, and I think it takes 2 weeks to see full results, but I'm definitely already noticing a subtle lift. Once the swelling went down, I really started to fall in love with the lips. This was just a couple of hours later, and here they are just over a week later. You can see that my top lip has a lot more volume, but in a very subtle and natural way. Here's the before again just for comparison. I absolutely love how they look. This is exactly what I wanted.
>> Today my ops are lucky because I'm getting my lip filler dissolved. I never thought this day would come, but I guess it's inevitable. My lips never looked bad, but like you guys, I had no lips.
I'm not just saying that. I know people say that all the time. I had nothing. If you think that like my lip my lip filler isn't noticeable, that's the point, but also you should know what I started.
Since I've been a natural, I've been going to the same girl, Courtney, and she like literally won't let me overdo it. Like I literally would get old things, and I really did used to overdo it. She won't let me. That's why she's making me dissolve it. I guess it takes at least a week to dissolve, and then she'll put more in, but we're going to start from scratch. I mean, it's literally almost been 10 years of me just having filler in there. So like obviously it has to migrate. bumpy or lumpy. It doesn't bother me at all. Like I said, Courtney is great. She just like wants a blank fresh canvas because of how long it's been, just to start from scratch. So I made sure I shaved my mustache off cuz I know I'd be getting the camera all close for y'all, and I'm like, "UGH, GET AWAY." LET'S GO. Come on.
I'm just now putting my shoes on.
This is my first time forgetting sunglasses outside, so I feel like Apparently this hurts though. I don't know. I have a high pain tolerance, so I'm not really scared, but everybody says it hurts. They also said lip filler hurt, and I don't think it hurts at all.
>> [music] >> I can hear her. I'm ready. I'm so excited.
>> Yes. I knew it. Pucker your lips.
You have some you can kind of see where it's thicker through here and here. This really isn't like relaxed smile terrible to be honest. Like she still has a very like crisp border, but I do want to take some of it out. I felt the lips, there's no lumps or bumps in there, but what happens filler can either go up, which for you to be honest, I mean you have a great border, is not bad, but it can also go down, and that's what I'm seeing more for you is like you're probably like, "Why do you want to dissolve some of my lips? They look really good." But in here you can see where they're like in this wet dry border, it started to go down for you, and this is why I'm also going to block you. It's very hard to numb in here, and so I need to come in and numb it, and that way I can take some of this out. Your lips can handle filler, like you have a little bit of room in there, but I really just don't want to make this worse. I think we need to take it out.
It's just been long enough. It's been so many years. Like there's only so many places it can go, and if you want to keep your lips looking good, it's got to come out. Okay. We're doing the lidocaine. Numb me up. If I'm in your way, just No. kick me.
Relax.
Widen the area. Massage.
Oh.
>> Yeah. Does remind me of the dentist, except that it's not inside my mouth.
>> Very good.
That wasn't bad. Okay, hilarious.
That wasn't bad.
Good.
Uh >> Look at your reflection.
>> [laughter] >> This is terrifying.
Get some good lighting.
So far, so good, guys. You're doing great.
I'm mad. This is what some of y'all look like. Like for real.
>> You see that wet dry border right here?
There's a bunch of filler there and there. I know. Final stick.
>> Final stick.
I'm done, guys. Can I get you in my video real quick?
Looking all professional. Wave.
Wave.
I'm literally like running to my car like this. Like I'm taking a back alley because I can't be seen like this. Does it look noticeable?
I'm like running to my car.
Okay, here's the immediate after.
I'm just numb from the lidocaine. Um but that literally nothing hurt at all. Like I'm not kidding. I'm not just saying that. That literally wasn't bad. Next up, chill on the filler and Botox you should maybe consider getting some dissolved.
Okay, let's go.
>> [laughter] >> Thank you.
Like you guys, I know All my comments were saying that I need to dissolve some filler. So I was thinking that we should listen to them and I'll have a syringe. Oh, perfect.
Perfect. Especially on that side, the other side.
Okay, and now that is the final lips and Botox. They are clearly very swollen right now. The swelling will go down. It just swells at first. That's very normal. But I love to find cupid's bow.
I think it looks so good on my face and it makes me happy. So this is me before I get my lips done. I can't believe I'm doing this. Okay, uh so I'm going to get lip filler right now and uh hopefully I don't end up with balloons attached to my mouth. The next time you see me, I'll have I'll have lips.
>> [laughter] >> This is ME DIRECTLY AFTER.
I WAS promised the swelling will go down. God, I hope so. Uh but my lips were too numb to even talk. So here's a voiceover.
All right, so this is me the next day.
Um I It's definitely better than it was yesterday. Um I I still like objectively, she did a great job. Like the lips themselves awesome. But I'm having a hard time with these lips on this this face.
>> [laughter] >> We are about to go get lip filler for the first time. I'm getting nervous.
Just a little bit. I think half a syringe of I don't know what it's called, but it's like a super natural one. So, this is our before.
Here's her before.
Okay, that's the before.
>> It's very um crooked. We know it's going to be swollen after.
>> the word she used?
>> I have a a symme- >> asymmetrical smile. asymmetrical smile.
It's very thin on this >> Mine just doesn't My lip just doesn't show. But, yeah. So. We'll let y'all know how it goes. I'm really nervous, but come along with us for the journey.
He's just like, "What am I wearing down?"
>> [laughter] >> Okay.
Okay, guys. So, we just got done. Mine is a little bit swollen. I got mine I'm starting to get swollen. Yeah.
I got mine done before her, so.
But, um they look so good. We just did 0.5. And the pain, y'all literally What would you rate Everyone makes it out to be so horrible. Everyone makes it out to be horrible. It's probably like a two out of 10. Yeah. Maybe like Some parts are like a like a zero. Like you can't >> kind of >> The bottom kind of hurts and like right here hurts and in the middle. But, like everywhere else that she did, I couldn't even feel it. Yeah.
>> So.
This is our lips after. We'll update y'all in a couple of days to show y'all the finished, but let's smile so they can see.
They look so good and natural.
>> So, if you need our girl's number, Yeah.
let us know. One of the biggest themes here is the insecurity around having a small upper lip. A lot of people do not get filler because they're trying to look extreme. They get it because they feel like their lips disappear when they smile or they feel like their top lip does not match the rest of their face.
And honestly, that is understandable. If something has bothered you for years and then social media shows you hundreds of before and after videos where people go from barely having a top lip to having a soft, fuller shape, it makes sense why someone would think "Maybe this could help me feel more confident." That is why this conversation has to be balanced.
Not everyone who gets lip filler is chasing a trend. Some people genuinely just want a little more volume, a little more symmetry, or a little more balance.
And for some people, they really do love the result. They walk out swollen, nervous, and unsure, and then a week later, once it settles, they feel like it fits their face. That part is real, too. I want my small lips back. I got lip filler like 4 years ago, and over the years I did have a little bit of migration. Can see right here. Got them dissolved two times before, but this time I'm determined to get all the filler out. I had a dangerous phase.
Okay, this was the phase. As we can see, they were they were not feeling the filler. This was before I got them dissolved the first time. I definitely had lip filler blindness. Okay, this is a picture of me before any lip fillers.
I think it's so cute and adorable.
Another picture of Okay, I'm lining them here a little bit. This one is a little bit of a jump scare, but I'm without any makeup here, and you can see they're just small and cute. I really hope this time it goes away and I have no lip filler left, because I am definitely over this. Okay, so let's go get it done. I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of scared. It's officially going down. I got to the clinic. I got some numbing cream, and we massaged my lips away. I always swell up, so I got home, and this is the result immediately after.
Swelling is supposed to go down by tomorrow. I can't wait to see my natural lips again. I have about three syringes of lip filler total in my lips, but the last time I had them done was in 2020, so you'd think, "Hey, most of it's gone by now, right?" Wrong. You can clearly see it on the wet part of my lip. The inside is the mucosa there. And once it's there, once it's migrated into the mucosa, and also on the mustache part of your upper lip in the skin, it actually takes a very, very, very long time to go away, if it ever does. So, here I am, I'm deciding it's time to finally dissolve it. Don't recommend doing this at home, by the way. I am an injector.
Um, been injecting for a while now, and you can see it's not that painful.
Clearly, I'm doing it on myself. There are ways to make it much more comfortable if you are considering dissolving, just ask your injector to take the time to do what they can to make it more comfortable. This is going to cause swelling. This is going to cause bruising. Now, I didn't really bruise that bad. I injected as few points as I possibly could. The less poking, the less, you [music] know, injections, or I'm sorry, the less bruises you're going to get. You see it it was stinging a little bit, but it's not bad. You also need to massage it and really get that enzyme to work in there.
And here I am just finishing it up, and it'll be gone in about 24 hours. I can't wait. Okay, y'all. I'm not even going to lie. My lips have a BBL.
>> [music] >> I don't know how they got a BBL. I don't know what happened from March 2022 when I got my lips done until now, but they got a BBL, baby. It's giving BBL lips.
Ooh, I'm shaking. I'm scared to post this. But like, look.
Like, I don't even like smiling for real because >> [sighs] >> Oh, child.
Um, I'm going to have to get my lips dissolved.
Uh, I don't know if like the filler migrated in like the past couple years or like what's been going on, but I thought like with filler I thought it would migrate like up or something, but I guess it like migrated down. Um, I'mma insert uh videos of when I got my lips done because I posted it on here.
So, yeah, so y'all can like see, like compare and see.
If you've ever had filler, beware. My lips look like a botched filler job. So, I got lip filler 4 months ago just as like a practice for our resident cosmetic clinic and just to experience what it was like. Lip filler usually like goes away in about three or four months just because we use our lips a lot. This is four months out and this started like three days ago. Viruses and COVID included can trigger reactions to old filler. Basically what's happening is my immune system is trying to fight something, reacting to something and it's attacking the filler antigens.
Based on case reports, I tried like Xanax pill, just started prednisone. I'm considering just melting the filler even though it's not really the filler doing it. Just something to keep in mind if you get sick a lot and you were considering getting filler. Also to not freak out if you had filler and this is happening to you. It typically goes away in a few days, but in the mornings it is so painful to move my mouth.
>> I really contemplated making this video because my healing is not finished, but if you're trying to get lip filler, don't [ __ ] do it.
I literally want to cry.
>> [laughter] >> I hate this [ __ ] Please do not touch y'all's face. Do not you are perfectly fine the way you are.
I promise you're going to regret it, [ __ ] I don't know what I'm more [ __ ] mad about, the fact that I lost I wasted my money or the fact that my [ __ ] lips are botched and I I I don't know which one's pissing me off more right now. Like don't [ __ ] do it. Look at how the bottom lip is just nice and even and smooth. Look at this.
Lumpy as [ __ ] I I >> [snorts] [clears throat] >> Let me tell you something. Body dysmorphia is a real thing and like most people, I definitely had insecurities or things that I used to nitpick about myself, but I'm not even going to hold you. This experience has made me realize that you know what? I don't want to touch [ __ ] >> I can't believe I ever got filler in the first place. And with beauty standards and social media being shoved down our throat, I think it is really easy to fall into that mindset of wanting to change your face and I totally get that because that was me only a few years ago, right? And I'm not here to sit down and tell anyone what to do with their body or their face, but I think there is something to say about beauty standards and social media influencing young girls before they even have the chance to grow into their like adult features and influencing them into getting filler [music] in their face.
I look at my small lips now and I'm like, oh, they're kind of cute. I like the way that they move and how small they are. I don't know. I think they're kind of like editorial. [music] And my under eyes, you can't really see cuz of the beauty filter, but I have pretty sunken eyes. And the under eye filler actually made them worse.
How does that work? And my message here is if you're a young girl, 18, 19, 20, and you're thinking about getting filler, >> [music] >> wait.
Because your women features will come in and your face will just balance itself out and I feel like getting filler and everything like masks that [music] natural beauty and I don't know.
I like my face now.
Hoorah! I [ __ ] love my face now. I think I look so much better. My face isn't swollen anymore and I like my little lips. I don't care. But the other side of the story is that lip filler is not always as simple as getting half a syringe and moving on with your life.
A lot of people go into it thinking it will be a one-time thing or that it will naturally fade away after a few months.
But then years later, people are realizing they still have filler in their lips. Some are seeing it move above the lip line. Some are seeing it move into the wet dry border. Some are feeling bumps inside the lip. Some are noticing that their lips look heavy, stretched, or different from what they originally wanted. And that is where a lot of regret starts. Not always because the filler looked bad at first, but because over time it changed.
What looked cute in the beginning can slowly turn into something that feels less natural.
And the difficult part is sometimes the change happens gradually, so people do not notice it right away.
Then, one day they look at an old photo and realize, "Wait, my lips used to look completely different. The time has come.
I'm so nervous right now cuz I've heard a lot of different experiences with this, but I am getting my lip filler dissolved today. This is kind of pre-pre wedding prep. I want to completely redo my lips. I've had filler since 2021 just in my lips. I've also been getting Botox since 2021 as well all around my forehead, my master, and I also just recently got it in that my traps as well. I'm going to show you guys a before picture of what my face looked like before filler and before Botox.
This was around the time I was 21 years old. I'm now 25, so obviously I've settled into my face and grown into my face a little bit more. Here's what my lips looked like before filler and also Botox. I was such a little baby, but this is what my face looked like before filler and Botox. I always had like resting lines in my forehead, and I also had eyebrows that just sat very, very low. Obviously, I have lash extensions here, too. But this was the size of my lips my whole entire life. I always was very insecure about them. We all have our own insecurities. They're still beautiful. Thin lips are beautiful, but I have always thought that a little bit more fuller lips just fit my face more, and I think that they do. But this is the before. Obviously, this is what I look like now, but my lips have kind of migrated a little bit kind of underneath right here. There's some spots that I kind of did on my own. My own fault from biting my lips and stuff, but I'm really excited. I'm going to see Kevin at Skin Farm, and we're doing a dental block and everything cuz this [ __ ] hurts. So I'm going to take you guys along for this whole experience and this whole journey.
All right, you guys, let's do this.
I'm going to give you topical numbing like we would for a lip filler, and I'm also going to do lidocaine injections like up here, and that'll like that'll injectably numb you. Yeah, you're not going to >> [laughter] >> like putting you to sleep like you're for surgery. I would love that, but that's okay. Um speaking of levitating, this may be like practice wedding lips.
I mean, we need to do like a little touchy before. Okay, here's this. Don't distract me. Oh.
You have one little poke on each side of your nose. I put that right on my zit.
Ow.
What does it do? You have to give it a like people have it like resting down here and I'm like What are you doing? Okay, little poke.
3 2 1 poke. [music] Little poke 3 2 1.
Thank you well.
You're right. No, you're right.
>> [laughter] >> I guess I don't need this little Look, this is like a bullet. You know what those are? Like a vibrator. Like [laughter] a little Yeah.
>> Like a little bullet.
>> That's what I always like, "Where can I get one of these?" And I'm like >> [laughter] >> Amazon.
What?
Danny, hey. Those are good. It's so good to meet you finally.
What are you doing? know, like it's a full house.
You got extra support.
Do you need to shave your leg?
Little poke. Mhm.
Okay. Now I'm just going to push this.
This has a burn to it. Okay. Ooh, yeah, that burns. Yeah. Oh, okay. Okay.
Uh-huh.
I'm sweating. I know, I'm sorry. It's like the worst. Well, I feel like >> can I can feel the filler like already breaking up.
>> Okay.
Cool. That's weird. It happens that quickly?
>> Mhm. This is crazy.
I know, this is 100% like the worst This is the worst. This is the worst thing we do.
But it's But Please tell me you have everything everything. Um Okay.
That all loose.
>> [laughter] >> The angle's so bad on your face.
Yeah, I know. My body is still adapting.
Yeah, it's like But when you were younger though, you probably like Okay, I just got back home, but here is the immediate after. Obviously super super swollen. I'm still all numbed up and everything. I will say it did hurt. It did hurt. I'm not going to lie. But only for like 4 seconds it felt a little fiery. With the dental block and the numbing go, that helped a ton. So, if you can get a dental block, I would say don't just use regular numbing.
Definitely get the dental block, but yeah, I'm I'm pretty happy. Like it wasn't even that bad of an experience. I was sweating a lot, but I always have such such a good time with Kevin. Next up in this process is I already booked my two-week appointment. We're going to plan on refilling my lips then, but he is going to check to make sure that all the filler is dissolved. If all the filler isn't dissolved, we will dissolve again. But, if it's completely gone, then we are going to refill my lips, and I'm really excited. So, I'm dissolving my cheeks and lips today with the lovely Dr. Leyla at Kiss Aesthetics in Essex.
She kind of maps out how we're going to dissolve the cheeks and the lips, and we use the enzyme to really break down the filler. I'm not going to lie, I was nervous just because I was like, "How am I going to look?" But, it was fine. As she's putting the um dissolver, you can see my cheeks going down bit by bit, and then we got onto the lips. I was really nervous about the lips because lips, no matter what, are always going to hurt just because it's so sensitive. It was that with the lip water because my filler was migrating there, and I didn't really like this look. And then, >> [clears throat] >> I just knew once we got into the lip, oh my god, it's fine because I had numbing cream on, so I didn't feel it that much.
I'm just very, very dramatic. Um [snorts] it's crazy because after she put the dissolver in, you could see the lips going down so quickly. But, you know what? I cannot wait just for it all to be gone. But, um this bit did hurt a bit, but it's fine. She was just so gentle. I was so happy for it to just be over and done with. And yeah, you can see it going down, guys. Like, oh my god. And here's a video of how Look how small my lips look. Look how small they look. And my cheeks have gone down even more. I'm going to share the results with you in the coming days. Come with me to dissolve all the filler in my lips and my chin. There's way too much filler in there now, where it's just been building up over the years. My lips have migrated and wonky. I'm a bit scared of what I'm going to look like. So, I haven't seen my natural face since I was 18, and I'm 27. I definitely want to look a bit more natural than I do, so it has to be done. First of all, we had to inject a bit of dissolver in my arm to make sure I'm not allergic to it. Chat with her for like 25 minutes all about my face and my history. She's just applying some numbing cream now. I dissolve my cheeks as well cuz I've a little bit in there, but Dr. Zara said leave them because they're lovely. They look fine. And a lot of the time when people dissolve their cheeks, they're unhappy afterwards cuz they lose volume, and it doesn't come back. But, she did agree we should dissolve all of my lips, so she's going in now. Sharp pinch.
Sharp pinch. Well done. Good job.
Really well done. Okay? [music] Yeah, that was actually not that bad. To be honest with you, I've had a lot of injections in my face. I've got quite a high tolerance. This does sting. Because with filler, it's just the needle pierce that hurts, but with this, you have that, and then you have the stuff going in, which is what stings. It essentially works by breaking down hyaluronic acid, which is what filler is made of.
Everyone said, "Well, then what happens to it? Where does it go?" Your body just naturally gets rid of it, metabolizes it. With my chin, I thought we was going to have to dissolve the whole thing just because I don't like the bulky bits on the side. I like the middle of my chin and the projection it gives me. Ideally, I don't want to lose that because we're just going to have to fill it back up again anyway. So, we tried a technique where she went in with a cannula and just targeted those bulky side bits I don't like. Dissolver is a bit unpredictable, it may spread, but we can hope for the best. She then massaged my lips which I thought was going to hurt, but it didn't. It cost 200 pounds and now we have to wait 2 weeks for the dissolver to fully leave my system before we can add any filler back in.
When I got home, my lips were still swollen, so I couldn't really see the difference apart from in my mustache.
The next couple of days are going to be the worst because the dissolver dissolves some of your natural hyaluronic acid, so your lips will look like prunes for a bit. This was the next morning and I'm definitely seeing a big difference. My lips have gone down a lot. You can see the sides of my chin where she injected a hollowing out. It's going to keep dissolving over the next 48 hours. My lips are going to look like wrinkly prunes, my chin's going to be uneven, but I'm prepared for it, and in the end, it's going to be worth it. Come with me to get my massive jaw taken off.
Got to be at least 20 mil in there in each cheek from having this since I was literally 18. I can grab the filler from where it's migrated down into my neck and there's two piss flaps each side, you see? This has actually taken me like years to make this final decision on whether I'm going to get this done or whether it's just going to keep getting bigger and bigger than my actual head, but I've done it. So, first round of dissolver has been done. I went for some noodles, by the way, that's what all that was. Um the bruising is horrendous, and so was the pain afterwards, actually. But that's like a whole another story time. I think I got complications from a previous injection.
But this is my first night and you can already see like a massive difference.
It's no longer now bigger than my head, but it sort of dissolving like What's the word? Abnormally, like wonkily. It's such a weird feeling to be able to actually squeeze my chin and my jowls because they're normally full of [ __ ] But yeah, this is day two. Woke up even worse bruising than the day before. Now I'm backtracking, I feel like it was 2 weeks to go back and get another round of dissolving because it had like fused to the bone. This is me back ready for round two of whatever the stuff is that melts it all out. He's getting to mention as well I'm at Becker Aesthetics in Eastbourne. She's the only one I would trust to sort this [ __ ] out. So this is like an hour after the dissolving and already see such a like better result. Yes, I've had a million different hairstyles in about two weeks.
Shush. It's the aftermath. Like I love it. I actually do. Do you know what's funny? I convinced the practitioner to put six mil in me as soon as I was able to cuz the fear of not having a big fat jaw, you know? But I kind of like this little life. Salutations Earthlings. I just got my lip filler dissolved and a lot of you were asking, oh well why?
Your lips looked so good before. Yes and no. The main main reason why I got them dissolved is because I went to go get a cleaning and the lady was pinching my lips so hard that she made a dent in my lip filler. And I already knew I wanted to dissolve my top lip a little bit because it was just too much and in the inside there were so many bumps and every time I'd go to my lip filler lady, she would just put more instead of massaging it or dissolving it. So here we are. Swelling and bruising is normal because it's literally like eating away all the filler that I have in my lip.
Like I'm not going to have my lip filler anymore. But I will say I'm going to go back in two weeks once all of it's gone and then properly get it done by a professional.
Yeah. But this is This is what we're looking like. This is what we're looking like right now, okay? Next time I do it, I'm going to make it look a little more natural and yeah. Imagine literally seeing this when you're driving. Like The dissolving process is also a major part of this conversation. Online, dissolving filler can be presented like a simple reset button. You dissolve, wait a couple of weeks, then refill.
But from these stories, it is clear that dissolving can be emotional.
Some people are excited to start fresh.
Some are nervous because they have not seen their natural lips in years. Some are scared they will feel insecure without the volume. Some are shocked by how small their lips look afterward. And some are relieved because they finally feel like themselves again. That part is really important. Because filler is not just physical. It can become connected to identity. If someone has had fuller lips since they were 18, 20, or 21, then dissolving them at 25 or 27 can feel like looking at a version of themselves they forgot existed. Even if the natural lips are beautiful, it can still be an adjustment.
>> Today, I am getting under eye filler that I got when I was 23 finally dissolved cuz there's still some in there and I don't even know how it's still in there. He's driving because I'm currently doing an IVF cycle and the IVF gives me so much anxiety I literally can't operate a vehicle.
Okay, we wiped off my makeup and now we're going to go in with a cannula and like drag it down and dissolve. And we have a little bit, but I don't like this little pocket. This is like 7 years old this stuff, so Look like I got beat up, but didn't hurt. Well, hurt a little bit, but not really. Just got home and she wiped my makeup off so I look crazy, but I already noticed a difference like I didn't even know I had filler there still from 7 years ago. I smiled, I noticed a little bit of an indent and I was like, "What's that from?" Maybe it's from the filler. So, I found out it was.
Honestly, like there's a little bit there, but I can already notice such a difference. Me and no makeup, she told me to massage it every few hours like this, but I can already see a little bit of a difference. It's crazy that filler lasts that long. I had no idea. I love it. Under eye bags They're in. Look at my freckles. I'm off to go get my lip filler dissolved. This is probably what, like at least 8 mils in my lips that has just gone somewhere. It doesn't look like it. It's in your teeth. It is literally here, here.
I'm sure some of it has migrated. So, this is a little before.
This is not even half an hour after having them done. No pain or anything, which is super good. And you can already see that the dissolving like is already starting to like Wow, look at that. Look at that. You can see like the nose gap there. It's not puffy anymore.
>> Yay. Okay, and this is almost a full DAY LATER.
THEY ARE SO SMALL.
>> [laughter] >> THEY'RE STILL REALLY BRUISED. NOW, I just have a little bit of lanolips on just to make them nice and hydrated. Um I can still feel a little bit of the filler in here. So, believe it or not, like I can still feel some lumps and bumps, which I am really hoping that I don't have to get dissolved again to like wait cuz I just want to have them refilled with a mill um next Tuesday if I can help it. It's Wednesday now. But, even when I smile with teeth, >> [laughter] >> I feel like I look like a snapping turtle. I did think that I was going to be way more insecure about this, but I'm just going to wait until tomorrow because I know it takes up to like 48 hours for the hyalase to take full effect. But, if I do need to have like a little bit redone, it's something that I'm thinking about as in having them dissolved a little bit more just so I don't have to go through the process again in like another couple of years' time. I really do want to start fresh.
But again, if we can get away with them and just fill them as they are, then I'll be happy, too. I thought that I was going to be way more insecure about this than I am, but I'm just really glad that I've done it. I got my lips done today, and I'm feeling like a brand new bee.
I'm joking. I'm joking. Yeah, remember me, the girl that dissolved her lips?
Yeah, I'm back, and I'm dissolving again. That was the best decision I could have ever done. Yeah, I'm so happy by the way my lips look, but I can't believe my lip filler migrated the way it did, and it's kind of scary because that just means that my tissue around my lip is surely damaged because how can lip filler fly on top of my lip and all the way at the bottom? Like, this just is quite bizarre. And of course, I'm back with Anastasia. She's so patient.
She's actually recommending me to come back because as you can see, there's a massive filler spot, and it was bugging me, guys. Like, I have no filler on my top lip, and for some reason, there's just a spot there. She actually said it was like the best thing, and it would be the last part of dissolving my lip. I can't explain it. And maybe it's because it's not in the lip. It's like on top.
It hurt. You all right? Yeah.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, this brow says it all.
Like, I was literally crying.
I was so happy. I was telling her that my bottom bit of my lip actually dissolved and thinking, "What the hell is that?"
>> [laughter] >> And it was filler, guys. So, I think this would be the last time I'm going to inject myself with lip filler. I'm not saying I'm against it, but I've had really bad experiences with it. So, I don't know what came into my mind, but I went Harrods right after. I mean, even though I always go Harrods, I still get mesmerized at the architecture inside.
Anyways, I was like shopping and looked in the phone. Yeah, I was like, "Okay, I'm looking great in being here right now, but I'm going to continue shopping cuz I don't look too bad." I did a little bit of shopping and also I went in to get my top ups and I was having the time of my life cuz I saw these minis. A quick check up.
I'm embarrassed to be walking around like this and no one has a mask.
Guys, I know I swell up because last time was ridiculous, but she put the smallest amount. So, I thought nothing will happen. I continued shopping though cuz girl, I don't care. But, I went back to Zara. I love to shop in Zara but men's section. Like I find like really cool stuff. Yeah, an update. This is how I was looking in Zara and I'm not going to lie.
The looks I was getting, I literally wanted to hide under a rock. I couldn't wait to go home. So, we left obviously it rained in London and and it was summer like 2 minutes before that. Got my Turkish food from my favorite shop and oh guys, my face like my lip was coming out my actual face. I was so tired. I went home and I ate my food. It was so nice. I had like spare ribs. Mm.
Oh my gosh, my lips. And I had to go gym and that gym was like, "What is wrong with you?" So, I messaged my girl in the morning. I'm like, "What is going on?"
Even in the morning, guys, look at my lips.
The bottom was like literally leaving me a mark. I was worried cuz I was going to see so many clients and she said just drink water and it will go in a few hours and it did. And I'm happy and that spot is gone. That does not mean filler is bad. It means people should understand that changing your face can change the way you see yourself, and undoing it can bring up feelings you may not expect. So, the bigger conversation here is not whether lip filler is good or bad. It is about how easy it is to start altering your face before you have fully thought about the long-term maintenance.
One appointment can turn into another appointment. Half a syringe can turn into a full syringe. Then a touch-up.
Then a little more. Then dissolving.
Then refilling. And dissolving again.
And before you know it, what started as a small insecurity becomes an ongoing cycle of adjusting, comparing, correcting, and trying to get back to the version of the result you loved at the beginning. And that is why I think these stories are resonating with so many people.
Because they show both sides. They show the excitement of getting filler for the first time and feeling beautiful. They show the panic when the swelling looks bigger than expected. They show the confidence boost when the result settles perfectly.
But they also show the frustration when filler migrates, the fear of dissolving, the regret of feeling like you changed too much, and the relief some people feel when they finally see their natural lips again.
There is also something deeper happening with small lips specifically. A lot of people with naturally thin lips have been made to feel like their lips are a flaw. But when some of these women dissolve their filler, they start seeing their natural lips differently.
They describe them as cute, soft, natural, or more like themselves.
And I think that is powerful. Because sometimes beauty trends convince us that a feature needs to be fixed when really just needed to be appreciated outside of comparison. Fuller lips can be beautiful, but small lips can be beautiful, too. A defined Cupid's bow can be beautiful.
A subtle upper lip can be beautiful.
Natural movement can be beautiful. Not every face needs the same proportions to be attractive.
At the same time, if someone gets lip filler and loves it, that is their choice. Confidence is personal. But the concern is when people are making that choice from pressure, panic, insecurity, or misinformation.
Because social media often shows the cute part, the appointment, the numbing cream, the immediate swelling, the pretty reveal, but it does not always show the years later part. The migration, the lumps, the dissolving, the refill cycle, the uncertainty, the moments where someone looks in the mirror and wonders if they went too far. So, maybe the healthiest conversation around lip filler is not do it or do not do it. Maybe it is slow down, research carefully, choose a qualified professional, ask what happens if it migrates, ask what dissolving looks like, understand that maintenance may be required, and make sure you still like your face before you start changing it. Because filler should be a choice, not a reaction to feeling like your natural features are not enough. And honestly, that might be the biggest takeaway. If you want lip filler, be informed. If you want to dissolve it, that is valid. If you love your small lips, that is beautiful. If you want a little volume, that can be beautiful, too. But do not let a beauty trend rush you into changing something you might grow to love later. Because sometimes the feature you are trying to fix is the same feature that makes your face unique. So, I want to know what you think. Is lip filler still worth it if dissolving and migration can become part of the process?
Have people become too casual about getting filler? Or is it just about making better informed choices? And for the people who started with naturally small lips, do you feel like filler helped your confidence? Or did you eventually miss your natural look?
