Weather forecasts predict temperature trends and precipitation patterns by analyzing atmospheric conditions, such as warm fronts bringing higher temperatures (mid-70s to 80°F) and cold fronts causing showers and thunderstorms, with forecasters noting that temperatures will drop to the 60s by the weekend and rain amounts are expected to be about half an inch for most areas.

Wednesday PM Forecast: Summery stretch continuesAdded:
We are halfway through the work week and enjoying beautiful day. This isn't even as warm as it get this week either. We continue to have a very nice day through tomorrow and summer feel in the mid-70s through Friday. Although, if you do want to be outside the rest of today or tomorrow is the day to do it. The next chance for rain and thunderstorms comes on Friday. Although, some models are showing a weakening trend as this moves into West Michigan. But still, if you're headed out over the next couple of days, tomorrow is better than Friday. The weekend will be pleasant and dry with some sunshine, but temperatures will be back down into the 60s as opposed to the 70s. Beautiful out there looking out over Grand Rapids. We can see plenty of sunshine with some puffy cumulus clouds out there and that's pretty much what we're all dealing with. We're 76 right now with a variable wind only 3 miles an hour. So, really good day to get some vitamin D and enjoy the warm temperatures. Benton Harbor is not so warm at 54. And we do have a few little showers and thunderstorms pushing to the south and a few of these back building out through parts of Calhoun County.
Just a few showers for now, but yesterday's cold front is just kind of sitting in the same place and a little bit of a boundary and convergence zone for some of those showers to fire off of. I don't think most of us will have to deal much with that beyond another hour or two. This system back in the plains and the mountain states is our Friday system. There is some competing energy though that will lead to some heavier thunderstorm activity and showers for places farther to the west. For us, the next several hours will be fantastic to be outside. Probably won't even drop down into the 60s until about 8:00 p.m.
Sunset is shortly after 8:30, so you have several more hours to enjoy the evening and even through 10:00 p.m.
we're probably in the mid-60s. Tonight we'll bottom out in the low 50s, very comfortable and much warmer than average, much warmer than what we woke up to and not a lot of wind either.
Getting up into the mid-70s to even 80° tomorrow is definitely within the realm of possibility. It will be a little breezier overall with our winds 10 to 15 miles an hour from the southwest, but that southwest wind is helping to bring up the warm air and it's also going to be a mostly sunny day. There is going to be this warm front lifting in though, so not in the morning, but through the afternoon there is the chance for a few showers and I mean a few, like maybe two or three showers between around 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., but it should not be something that affects most of us. And then we'll be free and clear until Friday morning when the first couple showers ahead of our cold front move in.
We're likely going to have some morning showers and then some afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. These look like they're going to be fairly weak though, could possibly have some decently gusty winds of 40 to 50 miles an hour, but it doesn't seem like this is going to continue into Saturday. So, we should be all good in that capacity and most of the weekend will end up dry.
With this batch of rain, most of us will get about half an inch of rain, but there could be some spots getting upwards of an inch and hopefully that won't be enough to cause any trouble on the rivers. The river levels are significantly down from earlier this week, but we also have some additional rain coming on Monday and that Monday rain will likely be heavier than Friday's.
