Weather forecasting involves analyzing atmospheric conditions including cloud types (cirrus, cumulus), temperature patterns, dew points, and pressure systems to predict short-term weather changes; forecasters use satellite imagery, radar, and historical data to anticipate precipitation, temperature trends, and wind conditions over time.

Storm Team Forecast: 4PM Tuesday 5-26-26Added:
Your forecast. How you doing there, central New York? 4:12 on this late Tuesday afternoon. Looking live with our poppy camera, you can see we've got sun and some wispy cirrus clouds. Got to have a nice really cool shot there looking towards Syracuse. Onondaga Lake in the distance, Jamesville Reservoir in the middle of your picture there. It's a beautiful shot.
Lush green fields and trees. Well, we had an inch and a half and nearly 3 inches of rain over the holiday weekend.
So, things definitely are wet enough.
That's for sure around here. We take a look here at the visible satellite and you can see we do have just a few wispy cirrus clouds out there. Had some fair weather cumulus clouds at noon. Those have now kind of dissipated. And I notice we got some high clouds towards south trying to lift north. So, some of these will try to get into the sky more so maybe tonight. But all in all, it's I call it a clear to partly cloudy sky going through much of tonight. It's warm out there? Yes, especially in the sun.
And a bit of a breeze out there. 82° here in Syracuse. That is so far the high for the day. We'll be surprised if we spike to at least 83 though over the next hour or two. You can see to the southwest we've got low 80s and 70s.
All in all, nothing too crazy heat wise.
And I do anticipate temperatures being a little cooler tomorrow. Probably upper 70s for highs tomorrow. And then we're back into the 60s here on Thursday. Near 70 Friday. And then the weekend and yeah, low 60s on Saturday. Going to be cool and kind of windy I think. Dew points not an issue today. Right around 50 or so, low 50s. You have to go all the way down to our Pittsburgh. It's a little humid there. DC definitely humid and almost swampy. Charleston and Louisville upper 60s to around 70. That stays put. We do not feel any of that over the coming days. We stay in the 50s dew point wise into the day tomorrow.
And then we see dew points dropping to the 40s I think later tomorrow afternoon and right through the rest of the week into the upcoming weekend. So, no super muggy weather on the way at all over the next several days. Yay. Radar showing nothing. All All and quiet thanks to high pressure in charge, the big H there.
Cold front here, this back door cold front will slip through during the day tomorrow with a few clouds, maybe an odd shower for a couple of us. Most of us though will get through your Wednesday completely dry. This moisture will get pushed to the south by this cold front, another area of high pressure building behind the cold front out of Canada. So, we are overall going to be in pretty good shape the rest of the week. Time cast shows Again, yeah, there's some high clouds here going through the night tonight, maybe a few mid-level clouds. That's how I'm going to call it, clear to partly cloudy. Lows will drop into the upper 50s and low 60s. It is a mild night and just light winds. For tomorrow, we got a fair amount of sunshine mixed with some clouds, breezy wind shifting to the northwest during the afternoon behind that cold front. So, temperatures stay in the 70s I think going through the day tomorrow with again a pretty good deal of sun, maybe nice late shower. Most of us get through the day tomorrow dry.
Taking the boat out, the jet ski? Uh turns a little breezy for the afternoon, so a little choppy, especially in the south ends of the lakes. That includes Oneida, the Finger Lakes, and Lake Ontario, but overall not too shabby.
Your highs on Thursday again turning cooler back into the mid-60s. A few spotty showers possibly popping up, but a lot of Thursday is going to be dry with some sunshine in the mix at times. Friday, most of the day is nice, maybe an evening shower or two.
Upper 60s. The weekend windy with a few scattered showers and cool on Saturday.
Chance of a couple of showers Sunday, but a lot of the time over the weekend too at this point looks to be dry.
