HEATED RIVALRY: 1x06 “The Cottage” - REACTION!! - Heated Rivalry #6Added:
Nice. Right.
>> So, we just sit here and look at it.
>> Yes. We just sit here and look at it.
>> Yes. And that's nice.
Hello there. It's been a month since the last time I recorded something, so I felt rusted because the fifth episode of Heated Rivalry, I guess, impacted me more negatively than I thought. It was a very pleasant episode. A lot happened and it was so nice to see all this love shared between characters. But I guess I'm feeling a bit lonely these days and seeing all these queer characters sharing love was kind of hurtful.
So yeah, I had to step back a bit and take time to digest this episode and my feelings. But I'm extremely excited to get back to Hated Rivalry to watch the last episode of the season. Probably not of the series because due to the success of the season, they will probably make another season with probably different characters. But yeah, I don't know what to expect from this episode because we had a lot of resolution in the last episode. So, what could I maybe a conversation between Shane and his parents and maybe but I don't think so.
Maybe Ilia coming out as a queer man to the the eye of the public, but I I don't think so. I think their love is going to strengthen, but probably not to the point of being very outspoken about it.
I would be surprised if that's the case, but because the rhythm of the series is really uncommon with all these ellipses and and just jumping from one year to another and six months in the future. that could happen.
Like we could see the current story unfold in this episode and then have a time jump in the future and see how the world reacted to them being a couple basically. So maybe we'll see that. But I I I have no idea what could happen in this episode. And I'm a bit worried about it being only positive for sure. I want them to be in a positive mood, light uh in their relationship, but um I wonder what can happen in this episode to make it interesting besides just seeing a queer couple being happy.
That's interesting, but I need more.
Maybe I'm just a pessimistic person. I don't think so. I think I'm quite optimistic as a person, but yeah, I don't know what to expect. So, I guess we just have to jump right in. A big shout out to the Patreon members. Your support means a lot, especially when my mood is down, like in the past 4 weeks.
Your messages and your constant positivity is really refreshing. So, thank you for that. If you are not subscribed to the channel yet, I encourage you to do so so you can have like the notifications for my future content. We'll go back to Young Royals and Heartstoppper very soon after heated rivalry. And as we dive in this new episode, grab your drink, grab your snack, and let's go.
>> I'm coming to the cottage.
Yes. Let's go to the cottage.
>> And the most valuable player is Scott Hunter.
That's big.
>> A few weeks ago, I achieved my lifelong dream, winning the cup.
But something else happened that night.
Mhm.
I came out as gay in a ridiculously public way. I've never really shared anything about my private life. It's it's maybe important that I do a bit.
>> Yes, >> fear is a powerful thing. But then uh I found the one thing that is more powerful.
>> Love.
>> But I also share it with you, Kip.
You have made me better in every conceivable way.
>> I love you.
>> A Okay, don't stress. It's going to be okay.
Think you're going to like the cottage?
Mhm. It's relaxing.
>> Ah, is that what we are going to do?
Relax.
>> Yes, you can try.
>> I'm glad you're here.
>> Me, too. But also like terrified. Yes.
Rightly so.
>> The cottage is super private, so we don't need to worry about anything.
>> Not even your parents.
>> No, I told him I was on a silent retreat, like a meditation.
>> What does that sound fake?
>> It would if it was anyone but you.
>> Yeah. Yeah, I agree.
It works because it's Shane.
Also, have I bought you Cokes, though?
Uh, the water here is really good.
I have my own well.
You can see it.
Careful.
Wait. Um, it's been a while, so I might not last.
>> You see, but we have two weeks. So, >> you said same. You haven't been with anyone lately?
>> No.
>> It's not a big deal. Okay.
>> Yeah, but it's been months. Yes, I know.
So, can we [ __ ] now, please?
I have an idea.
For the next two weeks, let's just be honest with each other about what we actually think and maybe how we really feel.
>> Good idea.
>> There's two guest rooms downstairs, so plenty to choose from.
>> I will need the king-size bed.
>> They all have a king-siz bed and the view. They all have a view.
>> An on suite bedroom.
>> Well, that might be a problem.
>> Oh, where's that?
>> There's only one with an on suite. Yeah, it's fine.
>> What's an on suite?
>> I have no >> If it's private, you don't need the I feel like something is going to happen.
Why are you making so many burgers? The recipe was for eight. So, okay, you cut it in half. What? You can't do math?
Leave me alone.
Okay, fine. I should have cut it in half.
Ordinarily, I would just give the rest to my parents, but that would probably ruin my whole silent retreat lie. I guess >> you and David. Yes.
>> Mhm.
>> And >> and >> and what?
>> Tell me about them. I don't know anything.
>> Yeah, just speak.
>> I know your mother is Japanese or something.
Probably where you get your looks.
>> Half of them. Yeah. And your dad is what? Boring.
>> My parents are great.
>> Yes, they are.
>> Do they know?
>> No, they don't.
>> About you? Of course not. Know about you?
>> No.
>> They should.
>> I mean, no. They'd be fine. I'm sure they would be, but >> probably.
>> I don't know. We haven't talked about it. Sometimes I think I would have told them already.
>> Oh, this is my fault.
>> No, I mean, yeah, kind of.
>> Why?
>> I think you can tell your parents you're gay without giving them a list of all the guys you're [ __ ] >> I know.
>> Yeah. Yeah, indeed.
You done?
Okay.
>> It's beautiful.
>> Nice. Right.
>> So, we just sit here and look at it.
>> Yes. We just sit here and look at it.
>> Yes. And that's nice.
>> It was just Rose.
Just rose.
>> You're not jealous, are you?
>> Yes, you are.
>> Ilia, I'm gay.
>> What the [ __ ] was that?
>> A lon.
>> A what?
>> Yeah, a what?
Okay.
>> Sounds like a [ __ ] wolf.
>> It's a bird. Trust me.
>> Stupid Canadian wolf bird.
Oh, so now you speak bird, too.
>> Fluent.
>> I hate you.
>> That's kind of sexy.
>> Have you talked to your brother lately?
>> I'm sorry about your family.
Even if they suck, you must miss them.
>> My mother didn't suck.
She was great.
>> How did she die?
>> By accident.
>> She accidentally swallowed a whole bottle of pills.
>> Okay.
>> How old are you?
>> 12.
>> I found her.
>> Oh my god.
I don't want you to think she was weak.
She was so funny and beautiful.
>> She was so sad.
>> Do you want to go inside?
>> No.
>> Cuties.
I like you.
Okay.
>> I like you, too.
>> Oh, [ __ ] He's hating. But how's Amber, right? How's she?
>> No.
>> Oh, yeah. The pics are cute.
Oh, good. Good. And then Jackie's good, too.
Uh, sorry. Hey, just um my mom's in the line. Just I'm just get rid of her.
Okay.
What are you doing?
>> I think you know. Please stop.
>> I don't think this what you want.
>> Later. Okay.
Sorry, man. Yeah, my my mom is so annoying sometimes. Uh sorry. What you were saying?
>> Cool. Cool. Yeah. Yeah. That that that makes sense.
Uh no, nothing much here. The headaches are better.
Sorry, just just a text.
Totally.
Sorry. Hey, one second.
>> Hang up.
>> Sorry, man. I just had I have to run.
Someone's at the door.
No, just it was just just Amazon.
>> Mhm.
[ __ ] you. [ __ ] you. Why was that so hard? Is it cuz you like to be bad?
>> Yes.
>> That's not what this is.
You and me.
Maybe it was at first, but not now and not for a long time.
>> Is he ready for this conversation?
So, I was thinking I'm a I'm free agent next season. You want to resign with Boston? Then where?
I don't know. I was thinking maybe Canadian team, not Montreal, huh? But I would love to not have Russian passport.
I could marry Fedlana.
She's American. Would be easy citizenship. She would help me.
But she I don't know someone you'd want to marry.
We were friends. We would be friends.
>> Okay. But but you like women, right?
You could find someone you'd want to marry for real and still get the passport.
>> It's more complicated than that.
Maybe. But I have this problem.
What's the problem?
>> But I am always thinking about this slow [ __ ] hockey player with beautiful freckles.
I am always wishing that these women were him.
This a terrible problem, huh?
Do you want that problem to go away?
>> Come on.
>> I don't ever want that problem to ever go away.
>> That's a big statement.
>> Don't marry Shalana.
>> We can figure something else out. Okay.
Okay, I have another idea.
>> What idea? What is happening?
>> What if you played in Ottawa? First off, super close by. Second, Ottawa needs a star center and they're nowhere near their capsule. They could definitely afford you. Then maybe we could start to change the narrative a bit.
>> What? Oh, Boston and Montreal. That That's intense. Everyone knows that. But Montreal and Ottawa and look, lots of guys have friends on other teams, okay? We're we're only 2 hours apart and we start a charity and we tell the press and everyone that by working on this cause that we both love that we developed a mutual respect for one another. And um yeah, we like sucking each other's dicks. Any questions?
>> Okay. Or maybe just >> Okay.
>> Oh, okay.
>> So, we start the charity >> and then if people saw us out in public or whatever, it it wouldn't be so [ __ ] crazy.
And maybe one day when we both retire, we could be together for real. And is that what you want >> so much? It scares me.
>> I love you.
I mean, I love you, too.
[ __ ] Oh my god. I love you so much.
>> It's okay.
It's okay.
It's going to be fine.
It was time.
[ __ ] you. What if my phone's in my pocket?
>> Hey, it's not. You left it on the table.
It's been ringing all morning.
>> Do you want pasta from last night or hot dogs?
>> What books?
>> Okay, they're going to have to defrost a bit. So, we have a little time >> maybe. What do you have in mind?
>> Nothing will take too long.
Oh, [ __ ] >> Oh, yeah.
>> Maybe you share. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Mhm.
>> You want me? No.
>> No. Mm- >> What's What?
Oh, that was a bad move, Dad.
[ __ ] [ __ ] This is a [ __ ] nightmare.
>> Oh, what the [ __ ] am I supposed to do?
>> Talk to them.
>> You should go talk to him.
>> Yeah. What if he doesn't want to talk to me?
>> Uh, >> [ __ ] my mom. Hey. Hey. Hey. They will talk to you.
>> Yes. I I [ __ ] lied to them for so many years. I [ __ ] lied to them. And now my dad just walks in on me. This is my [ __ ] nightmare.
>> Then maybe it's time to wake up. Yes.
>> Yes.
>> Maybe maybe he didn't even know this.
>> Come on. It's going to be okay. It was just shock.
Uh, maybe you should wait in the car.
>> No. No.
>> [ __ ] Never mind. Sorry.
>> Yes. Yes. Just go together as a team.
>> Hi.
>> I left my charger at your place and it's the old one that fits into my phone and all the other chargers we have are newer. So, >> it's okay, Dad. I'm sorry. You shouldn't have found out that way.
>> She doesn't know.
>> Found out what exactly?
I'm gay. Yeah. And this is Ilia Rosenoff.
>> He's visiting and we're um lovers.
>> No, that's gross.
>> But you hate him.
>> I mean, I get that, but no, I actually um I love him.
I don't know how I want this to be. I told you. Uh, I'm sorry.
Can we just sit down, please?
>> What we did not suspect was that you were so friendly with Rosenoff.
>> Ilia.
>> Ilia. Sorry.
When did this happen?
>> Six years ago.
>> Wait, the Allstar game.
You two had so much chemistry.
>> No, it was before then.
>> So when?
since our uh rookie season.
>> Since your rookie season?
>> No, it's not true. Since before that.
>> Not helpful.
>> Before.
>> Somewhere before.
>> So, you've been in love since >> No, no, no, no, no, no, >> no. Just um >> just what?
>> Um >> don't say it.
Just really >> Oh, okay. Just what?
>> Lovers.
>> Okay. No one is allowed to use that word again.
>> And do your teammates know?
>> No. Nobody knows.
>> I mean, you you never let him win, did you, Shane?
>> Do you let dad win the cards?
>> I'd rather die.
>> Same here.
>> I'd rather die.
just keep doing this in secret until you both retire or >> probably I I don't know.
>> No, that's not a good idea.
>> Probably years.
>> Oh no, that's sad.
>> Ilia, I got to say I'm surprised you have such a reputation as a ladies man.
>> Isn't that untrue?
>> IA likes both.
Oh, >> it's true. I've been with many women, but I have only been in love with one person.
>> Same here. Only one.
Just what's the issue?
>> I need you to know that I did really try.
I just can't help it.
And I'm sorry.
>> Oh, no. You have nothing nothing to apologize for. Look at Look at I'm sorry that I made you feel like you couldn't tell me.
Oh, I forgive you, Mom.
I love you.
>> Oh, I love you, too.
>> Okay. Okay. Okay. Enough.
>> All right. What's the plan?
>> Yes.
>> Have you talked to Scott Hunter?
>> No. I did.
>> You did? Yeah, briefly after MLH awards in June.
>> And what did he say?
>> Nothing. I didn't tell him about Shane and me, but what he did, it was >> Yes, he was very brave.
>> Change things for me at least. Maybe for us.
Shane.
Shane.
I'm okay. I'm just freaking out.
>> Yeah, it's normal. It's okay. It's >> You're good here.
Your family is here. Your boyfriend is here.
>> You're good here. Okay.
My boyfriend?
I mean, yes, I think so. probably since rookie season >> summer before I saidowboy I'm waiting for One of us got bad things to do.
I mean, I I guess >> so. That's the end.
>> Oh, okay.
I was not expecting that.
Okay. So there is not enough to make another season around those two.
But I get they could make a movie about their future or just leave us with this.
Okay.
Okay. I was not expecting this series to end like this, but it kind of still resonates with what I said at the beginning of the video with a possible time jump in the future, but we don't have the time jump. It's in our mind.
But I'm I don't know if I like it or if I'm bothered.
I think I like it. I think it's a good idea to have this like opening of a of a story just letting our minds go looking for answers and just imagining things and it's opening a lot of ground for fanfictions I guess. So I really don't know what to say much. Okay, let's let's have a step back and take this entire series as an entire thing. It was genius. Besides the acting, the scenery, the misen, the lighting, the writing, besides if you take all of that and you say, "Yes, it's it's excellent." But what strikes me the most in this series is how the sex scenes hold the series up, the story up. There are no unjustified sex scene. Everything is justified. Everything is in place and there for reason. So, I think it's going to change the game. It's going to be a a a game changer like the like the book.
And I think people like the the viewers, the spectators in the future will look at sex scenes with a more critical eye because now we have the template of how a sex scene can make the the story progress and evolve and how it can tell us the relationship between characters and dynamics and give us with images all the power balance imbalance between two characters or more. So, I'm really curious in like 10, 15 years. We'll see how it evolves, but I'm really curious on how the western cinema is going to use those scenes as part of the story and not just a marketing thing, I guess, because that's that's the main thing that I take from this series besides wonderful acting and writing and directing. We have new stars rising from this series and that's really nice. You know, I I'm I'm thinking about this interview between I think it was a Belgium journalist and Rose McGowan during the trial of Harvey Winstein a few years back and the journalist said basically that actors and especially actresses were there to sell sex. But but Hollywood is an industry that is to a certain extent founded on women, you know, perfect looking women selling their the way they look and selling sex essentially.
>> Are you kidding me with that question?
>> Selling selling an image. Hollywood women tend to be very >> sells them. Men sell that image. And it was like so I was so enraged when I when I saw this clip because it was so degrading and and and out of place and and a lot of people have said in the past that actors and actresses were basically prostitutes. And I don't think that's right and I don't think that's fair. But I think that creators like directors and and writers from now on don't have any excuses to not make sex scenes a part of the story.
I mean that's it. Now, when you have a character that is butt naked in a bed with another person, that must convey something like it's not erotic film or it's not pornography.
It's it has to be part of the story and you have to have a reason to show it. If you don't have a reason to show it, just don't because we don't need to. Like, it's just voyerism. And I think heated rivalry will be a a mark in history when just voyerism in cinema and series and films died. We'll still have it in the future. That's for sure. because it's a it's such a um a old white cisgender male dominated industry, gay or straight. So you will have like pointless sex scenes just to show a boob or an ass or something like that. But I think I I I'm really really convinced that if we go the right way from now on, people will be like, "Okay, but you could have done like heated rivalry and make the story progress through sex scenes and not just sex scenes being like some kind of decor or just there just to be there." Like you have to have a reason to show that. Anyway, I'm talking I I'm I'm just rambling about this, but let me know in the comments if you are if you agree with me or not, but I think I think we're on the same page here. But yeah, and also I gained hundreds of followers thanks to this series. So, I'm really glad that I started it. I'm really glad that you talked me into it. Uh that was a good idea. And yeah, and welcome for the newcomers. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel if it's not done yet because we have plenty of content to explore together. I want to expand my horizons, your horizons. So, just keep notice of this small channel because I think we we're going to to do nice things besides reaction videos. I think I think we can do a lot of things that are really interesting and and maybe not important but maybe useful and and have those conversations around those themes that are really important.
Anyway, have a wonderful day, night, evening, morning, breakfast, lunch, dinner, depending on where you live.
Don't forget to drink water as always.
Kisses to your pets and your loved ones.
And I guess I will see you very soon.
Goodbye.
Still all Believe.
Oh, believe
