The creator insightfully prioritizes the protagonist's tactical restraint over the film's stylistic violence, offering a sophisticated analysis of high-stakes decision-making. This approach successfully transforms a standard reaction video into a thoughtful study of character-driven strategy.

Drive (2011) FIRST TIME WATCHING | Movie Reaction & ReviewAñadido:
Hello guys, my name is Biscuit and welcome back to my channel. Happy to have you all here and I really do hope you're looking forward to today's reaction because we are going to check out Thrive. Now, I don't know anything about the movie. I did see the poster and it's with uh Ryan Gosling and the movie is from 2011. I hope I'm right with this. I look forward to this. Uh recently I've done quite a few Ryan Gosling movies and that makes me happy because I do think he's a great actor. I do think he uh is a great family man. I know he's married and I love the fact that he has never been in any scandals really. So the more movie I react with to him, the more I get to appreciate uh his variety and diversity.
So I'm really looking forward to this one as well. Don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't by now. And another movie that I'm really looking forward to is uh Project Hail Mary, which is going to be with Ryan as well.
So, if you guys are really looking forward to that reaction, subscribe to the channel so you get, you know, like a little notification whenever that one drops. Much love to all of you. And uh if you guys are ready, I am ready. Let's go.
There's 100,000 streets in this city.
You don't need to know the route. You give me a time in a place. I give you a 5-minute window. Anything happens a minute either side of that and you're on your own. Do you understand?
>> So, you have 5 minutes. You either do it or you don't.
>> And you won't be able to reach me on this phone again.
Hey, there you are.
>> Is this a guy that plays in Breaking Bad?
>> Look like a zombie, kid. You getting any sleep? I can offer you some benzadrine, dexadrine, nicotine. Oh, you don't smoke? That's right. Better off. There she is. Chevy Impala. Most popular car in the state of California. No one will be looking at you.
>> So, we're having fast car.
in a normal car rapper basically.
>> Okay. Driver as in the driveway car.
>> Roberts fired at >> Okay.
[ __ ] is he? Come on.
We're approximately 2 minutes from that location.
>> Come on.
>> All right.
>> Silver.
>> It's not always about being the fastest.
Seems like sometimes it's about being smart, too.
>> Clear.
license.
>> Go police car.
>> Copy that.
>> This is more like work smart, not hard.
>> Got a visual heading west on street.
>> So, a while back I watched a movie called Baby Driver. I don't know from what year Baby Driver is from, but if it's after this movie, I think it's highly inspired by this movie.
>> Seventh Street in Santa Fe.
>> All of a sudden, >> maybe Baby Driver is like a prequel to this.
>> Fans are loving. They're on their feet.
>> Possible suspect vehicle cighted at stoplight.
I think having access at the radio is such a big advantage.
Blocked by >> Oh, I understand what he wants to do.
He wants to use all of the people so they can, YOU KNOW, BLEND BUT MAYBE NOT the gloves. I will have removed the gloves.
Okay, I think this is going to be a fun movie. Ryan Gosling.
Ah, it's it's drive, not driver. My bad.
I really like the music until now. Nice pop Cinti.
Don't have no fear.
>> Music by Cliff. Good job, Cliff.
They're talking about you.
It's hard to explain the same.
I love that on the beat closing the light. Look, these are details. I like details like that. Based on the book >> on fourth >> floor. Thanks.
I don't know why, but I feel like he knew that she was on the fourth floor.
He just wanted to talk to her right now.
>> Oh, we got a police officer.
>> Hey, kid. Director wants to see a rollover. You okay with that? Remember, if you don't feel good, just abort the shot. There's no shame in that. All right. I mean, you're you're doubling for the start. You're not like a day play or anything. And I got you 500 more. Huh? Of course, we split that. You ready to go? All right. counting on you.
>> I think at the not the only line he had was like, "What floor?" Oh, no. And we heard him at the beginning saying he gives some 5 minutes to >> sign this uh contract in case you die, get maimed, or seriously injured.
>> Oh, good. That was fantastic.
>> He's not a police officer. He's an a stand, maybe.
>> You're good. You're good. That was perfect.
I don't mind the fact that there are not a lot of lines. Uh, first of all, no one can yell at me that I talk over dialogue, so that's a bonus. Uh, but I feel like we are getting to know about his personality more from body language than, you know, having him tell telling us.
Like, for example, I can't really tell he likes his neighbor. You're a >> monkey. Hey, tell me one thing.
>> I love you.
>> I love you.
Sorry. Sometimes I'm watching movies and the way they are filming or the way they're like centering stuff, it's uh it's more difficult for me to follow.
Makes me a tiny bit dizzy.
I can actually hear my editor clapping right now in happiness like, "Oh my god, she touched the glasses."
Oh [ __ ] Where should I put this?
>> Uh, in the kitchen. Thank you.
>> Scary.
>> Hey, you want a toothpick?
>> Woo!
We have visual, ladies.
Buckle up. I can actually see.
>> So, you just moved to LA?
>> No, I've been here for a while.
>> That's Bonitzio's father.
>> Where is he?
>> He's in prison. Okay. What do you do?
>> I drive for movies.
>> Is that dangerous?
>> Could be.
>> It's only part time. Mostly I work at a garage boulevard.
>> Okay.
>> I got to go. Thanks for the water.
>> Where are the chopsticks? Put out the cigarette. I'm eating. I'm sorry. What's the matter with you? I'm just >> with this. I agree 100%. Banning cigarettes in restaurants and clubs was the best thing ever.
>> Why you want to change now?
>> You know how much my business made last year? 30 grand.
>> I can build a car in 6 months and in 6 seconds these jerks write it off as a stunt that won't even make it into the movie. See, all I need is a hard used stock car. That's all. Now, I figure we start off with a small town circuit and we work our way up. Once we get to the show, we're talking millions.
>> The chapstick, sir.
>> Yeah. Where's the cookies?
>> Ah, forget it.
>> You know, forget it. So, you still haven't given me a number?
>> $430,000.
>> Oh, >> I to sneeze just by listening to that number.
>> What do you got that the big professional race teams don't?
>> A driver.
>> I got the driver. Been working with him for a while. I've never seen anything like it. I had the money, I'd back him myself.
>> Yeah, but you don't have the money. You put this kid behind a wheel. There's nothing he can't do.
>> [ __ ] eating food in my [ __ ] restaurant.
>> You remember Shannon?
>> Take a hike. I want to talk to my partner.
>> Anna, >> the house is [ __ ] you. How you doing, Shannon? How's the leg? I paid my debt.
>> I'll think about it, but I want to meet the kid first.
>> That's all I ask.
>> Okay. Okay. So, we're going to have a little bit of a what? Car racing movie.
>> Whatever you do like about the car, don't say anything. I want to drive the price down a little bit. Dad, I want you to meet Mr. Bernie Rose. Nice to meet you.
>> Um, I don't think he likes touching too much.
>> My hands are a little dirty.
>> Yeah, >> so am I.
>> I think that's the reason he doesn't want to touch you.
>> Good driving out there.
>> Thanks. What do you think? Will you get the 400? I'll give you 300 for 70%.
>> That's a lot. I mean, that's >> what >> right. Good.
Won't be sorry.
>> 70%. It's a lot, but I mean, I guess he does be sponsoring everything. So, >> Shannon, >> hi.
>> Hey, pal. Just drop it down here. We'll push it in. All right.
>> Hi.
>> Hi. Uh, you two know each other.
>> Uh-huh.
We're neighbors.
>> Neighbors. Very good. Well, we'll try to be neighborly, too.
>> This kid's so cute.
Look at this kid.
>> Blinked.
>> Can I call a cab from you?
>> You and the kid are neighbors, right? He can take you. He'd be happy to do it.
He's a good guy.
>> Oh, okay. I see you wingman.
>> You know, he walked into my shop here about five or six years ago asking for a job. So, I put him to the test, see what he could do. Kid's amazing. So, I hire him on the spot at about half the wages I normally pay. He didn't blink an eye and I have been exploiting him ever since. Shh, don't tell him. So, I offered your services to take Benio and Irene home. That'd be okay.
>> I don't have wheels on my car.
>> Okay.
>> It's one thing you should know about me.
>> We'll put the tires on. You got 5 minutes.
>> She has even 10.
I like that.
>> You want to see something?
>> I like that even if he is a great driver, he still keeps both hands on the wheel.
>> Maybe I could park there as well.
I uh I can't park for [ __ ] They're having a family date.
>> And you know what, guys? I know the small kid as well. He played in Jane the Virgin. He was Jane's kid.
Good for the kid.
That was good. He had a good time.
Did you have a good time?
>> Me, too.
>> Sorry if I put you on the spot showing up like that.
>> It's okay.
>> Mhm. I love the way they're smiling at each other. It's cute. Flirty.
>> I'm not doing anything this weekend.
>> Okay. If you want a ride or something >> or something.
>> We just have to figure it out if her husband, boyfriend, baby daddy is in prison for life or how many years.
She's falling in love.
>> Don't worry about her bumps and bruises.
That's just fiberglass. That's easily replaceable.
>> You pay 300 [ __ ] grand for this piece of [ __ ] Now this that is one [ __ ] fine ass mobile [ __ ] >> Sell them the cars.
>> You wouldn't be able to find warehouse.
>> When's our first race? Pretty soon.
>> He's one quiet guy.
>> You going to be ready?
>> I hope so.
>> I hope so. Did Shannon ever tell you how we met? I used to produce movies in the 80s. Kind of like action films, sexy stuff.
>> Uh-huh.
>> Anyway, he arranged all the cars for me, did all the stunts, even though he overcharged the [ __ ] out of me. His next business venture, he got involved with some of Nino's friends. They didn't go for the overcharging bit. They broke his pelvis. He's never had a lot of luck.
The reason I'm telling you this is that he has a lot invested in you and so do I. So, anything you need, you call me.
>> Okay.
>> A team now. I'm excited.
>> We are in a team with the pelvis breaking people.
>> Is he bad guy?
>> Yeah, he's a shark.
>> There's no good sharks.
>> How are you?
>> Good. This is Cindy.
Bye, Cindy.
>> That was my husband's lawyer. He's coming home in a week.
>> [ __ ] Well, now what?
Welcome home.
>> I mean, you cannot just exile the father of your kid, you know? I agree with that. But >> it's a shameful thing, but I did. Second chances are rare.
That's worth celebrating, right?
>> Sure. Whatever floats your boat.
>> Make a toast for that lady right there. Thanks for staying.
Oh.
>> Oh [ __ ] >> Hey.
>> Well, >> this is a bit awkward.
Sorry about the noise.
>> I was going to call the cops.
>> I wish you would.
>> Hey, how you doing?
>> Good.
>> Says you've been uh coming around helping out a lot.
>> Yeah, helping out. Is that right?
>> Yeah.
That's very nice. That's nice of you.
Thank you. You're welcome.
>> Let's see if he's alpha. You >> drive for the movies. Yeah.
>> I can take that.
>> No. No. I got >> I can see why he's in why he was in prison.
>> Let mommy talk to her friend.
>> Come on.
>> He has like this passive aggressive.
I have the passive aggressive cha I fought myself.
Oh yeah, one Chihuahua sees the other Chihuahua pretty easily. I um I hope with age I'm going to become calmer.
M pie pie with ice cream.
>> You're Shannon's buddy, right? You drove me and my brother back from Palm Springs. I spent 6 months in jail. My brother, he got himself killed. I got this sweet job coming up.
>> How about this? Shut your mouth.
>> Who?
>> I'll kick your teeth down your throat and I'll shut it for you.
>> Saying you again.
>> The nice calm demure vibe has just been flushed down the toilet.
Okay, we're getting threatened.
The problem is not they know where we live. That's a problem. We don't like that very much. Especially that he has the girl he likes. She has a kid and all of that.
>> Don't be scared. Okay. A secret between the four >> traumatizing the poor child.
>> Who are they? The [ __ ] are you? You going to go beat him up for me?
Nice stunt guy.
>> There's some guys that want me to do a job for him and I'm not going to do it.
You want me to rob a pawn shop in the valley? Cuz I owned some protection money from when I was inside. And as soon as I got out, oh, it's $5,000 bucks. Oh, no. Actually, it's $10,000.
$20,000 tomorrow. I don't know what the [ __ ] it's going to be.
>> What are you going to do?
>> They said they're going to come after Bonio and Marine next.
>> He's complicating the story. Why is he not just leaving?
You want something to drink?
What is that you got there? Can I see >> a bullet?
>> He told me not to lose it.
>> Poor child, man. Traumatizing kids.
I saw that standard.
Was it an accident? What happened?
>> They got beat up.
>> That was an accident. Someone got beat up in an accident.
>> Just drunk kids. You should come and see him.
>> Who? Standard or benise?
>> I hope. Benise, >> do you want to hear how mommy and me met?
>> What is your name? Well, my name is Standard Gabrielle. And what did you say?
>> Where is the deluxe version?
>> Because standard and then deluxe.
>> It's good, man.
>> Funny sharp.
>> And then a year later, you popped out.
Man, that was the best day of my life.
Seems like we are getting a big car as in big money.
Oo, that sounds like a mustang.
Is it?
I can't see. I can't see the the emblem.
But >> 5 minutes when we get there. Anything happens in that 5 minutes and I'm yours no matter what. Anything emitted either side of that and you're on your own. I don't sit in while you're running it down. I don't carry a gun. I drive.
>> I can't do this thing alone.
>> You got Blanchch. She's beautiful. Look at him.
>> Beauty is not enough.
>> This much for that [ __ ] minus what he owes me and this much for you. You still interested.
>> You never go near his family again.
>> It doesn't work like that.
>> Here with my family and my new friend.
Post to the future. To our future.
I smell a love triangle.
>> I'll see you in five minutes. See you in four.
>> What does she do? Like, what is Blanch's job, for example?
Tension is tensioning.
I feel it. I like it. Oh my god. I still like shrimp.
I've been shrimping.
Come on. I got scared as heck.
Oh, it is a mustang. You see guys, my ears work.
Seems like the guy behind him is a good driver, too.
I want to ram into him and and make it spin.
Well, that's a lot of money. It's not about the money. Money.
How much do cooks say we were going to get?
>> 40 grand.
>> Stay here.
>> When was the last time you saw your husband?
>> This morning.
>> Your mother there?
>> Talking to the police?
>> Okay, just tell her I'm going to call her back. Okay.
>> The armed robber was pronounced dead at the scene. The owner of the pawn shop told reporters that Gabrielle acted alone and that no money had been stolen.
>> No money was stolen. It was a setup to get rid of him then or what? If he saw you take the money and he saw you get in the car, then why didn't he say anything?
>> I have no idea.
>> Suspicious eyes.
>> Did you have any idea there'd be a second car?
>> I already told you everything.
>> Now you just got a little boy's father killed. You almost got us killed.
And now you're lying to me. From now on, every word out of your mouth is the truth. Do you understand?
>> I think she does.
>> He said there would be another car to hold us up, but he didn't say anything about all this money, and he didn't say anything about it.
>> You were going to rip us off.
>> Yeah, it was a set up. A trap.
>> What's his real name?
>> He says it's Chris. I just can't cook.
You're going to take me to him.
>> I don't agree with violence, but sometimes, just sometimes, it's needed, especially in cases like this when they they lying straight to your face and your life is on the line.
She's dead.
I like the slow-mo.
I haven't watched a movie with this type of editing in a while.
It's cool to see it back.
action indeed. Jesus. With those blue striking eyes and a face full of well ketchup.
>> What'd you do with the cash? Cuz I could keep it safe for you if you >> this guy Cook. Do they have a real name?
Chris something.
>> Chris, >> I lost Bernie. She can't stop thinking about what we can do with all that dope.
>> Just >> All right, but you're the only one I know who who robs a joint just to pay back the husband.
>> Crazy.
>> He's a nice guy.
>> This movie has a different editing and a different type of pace. I do wonder who's the director.
Oh.
Everybody's so unfazed. Seems to be like a normal thing.
>> Whose money do I have?
>> Somebody call Nino.
>> Nino. We know who Nino is. We heard the name before.
>> Do you remember this?
>> Oh my god. That was the sound the sound of the the hammer on the teeth.
You got something [ __ ] belongs to me.
>> I'm going to give you a time and a place and you're going to come and get it.
>> And what do you get out of it?
>> Out of it.
>> You're not very good at this, are you?
Go check out who this guy is.
>> Why can they not just go through with it? You know, like go take your money and let the guy off the hook. The end.
He didn't ask for money. He didn't ask for a share. He didn't ask for anything.
Just to be left alone.
Can I just walk with you for >> I have to tell you something.
>> I really hope he's going to tell her everything. Clear. Clear. Clear and clean.
>> Standard was into some guys in prison for a lot of money and they were going to hurt you and Benio if you didn't pay it. He asked me for my help.
>> Poor woman.
>> I'm sorry. I still got the money. You could have it if you wanted to. You could take Benio.
>> I was expecting that.
>> I just thought you could get out of here if you wanted. I could come with you.
>> Sorry. Yeah, wrong floor.
>> Wrong floor. This ass.
They got chemistry. They got great chemistry.
I think he's dead. I Holy. I think I I Yeah, that's one way to scare her. Okay.
You know what they say, opposites attract.
They came to my apartment. Shannon and they know where I live.
>> I told you I was going to call Bernie. I just wanted him to know that that it wasn't about that you're not interested in the money. That you you just did it for the girl.
>> Nice.
>> Who told him about? Listen, I just I just wanted him to know.
>> You just give away his biggest weakness.
>> Look, let me just let me just talk to Bernie. Okay.
>> How was I supposed to know? Everything led to NATO.
Well, his intentions were good.
>> They're going to come for you. Do you understand? You get out of here and you never [ __ ] come back. What are you going to do?
>> I guess go after Nino. Nino. Nino. Nino.
Nino.
>> You should have taken the money and left the guy alone.
>> It's not that simple, Bernie.
>> No, OF COURSE NOT. NOW THAT IT'S BOUNCED UP in your face.
>> Give me a little time and I'll get rid of him.
>> Shut the [ __ ] up. The money belongs to some halfass wise guy out of Philly.
He's going to invest it here in LA.
>> So you stole from the East Coast mob.
You come to me before you set up this dummy robbery.
>> And he's not happy.
>> Anybody finds out you stole from the family? We're both dead. The family who still calls me a [ __ ] >> The money always flows up. Izzy, >> that's why this driver's got to go, Bernie.
A >> Jesus.
Holy [ __ ] >> Now it's your turn to clean up after me.
>> Poor Shannon. I think Shannon dies, too.
>> All these priceless cars. One would think you'd have better locks. Going somewhere? I'm looking for your driver.
2,000 heists a year in this city. He has to pick the wrong one. If I don't set this straight, I'm in big trouble. I was getting excited about this whole thing.
MY NAME ON A CAR. I think we would have made a go at this business.
>> I would have liked to see some some some driving as well. Some, you know, Formula 1 stuff.
>> You're dead, Shannon.
>> There's no pain. It's over. It's over.
>> It's going to bleed to death.
He has a collection going on.
I would just take Irene Benio or Ben Benny. Take the 1 million and bounce.
I would feel a type of guilt to the money was in the garage all the time.
My world is light.
>> It's a suicide mission.
>> That's so creepy.
>> We know who we have to take out.
Embraces as the stars must fade away.
A bright day.
What the [ __ ] was that?
You just wait. You'll see. Let's get out of here.
But I don't think he died from that.
Sadly, it was not a big, you know, ill cliff. Cliff I want to go in the water, man. Drowning is horrible. Are you crazy?
Drown. Drowning is a horrible way to go.
The feeling of your lungs, the that sharp burn that you cannot breathe.
You know the story about the scorpion and the frog. Your friend Nino didn't make it across the river. I think this has gone on long enough. You see any reason for it to continue? Who do you say we meet?
>> Why?
>> He wants the money still.
>> You, me, and your girlfriend are the only players left. There's a place on Sherman Way. It's a restaurant called The Great Wall.
I really hope he he gets out of this and unt untouched and Irene goes with him and they get to spend1 million $1 million in Mexico.
>> Can I talk to you? I won't keep you long.
>> I'm hiccuping someone talks about me.
>> I have to go somewhere and I don't think I can come back. But I just want you to know getting to be around you and Benio was the best thing that ever happened to me.
>> Oh, forgive him.
>> He clearly can protect you. Cannot be that bad, right? Bernie should make him his new partner.
>> Here's what I'm prepared to offer. You give me the money, the girl is safe forever. Nobody knows about her. I can't offer you the same. This is what I would suggest. We conclude our deal. We'll shake hands. For the rest of your life, you're going to be looking over your shoulder. I'm just telling you this because I want you to know the truth.
But the girl is safe.
>> What about the kid?
>> Or it's like a package deal.
>> I'm just afraid he's going to like pull down like a sharp.
>> Where's the money now? It's in the car.
Like I said, well, one is a blade to the guts and the other one is a blade to the neck. I'll take my chances with the blade to the guts. If I'm honest, you do be having more muscles because you have the abs. You know, there is some fat and then is the organs.
So, it it it can be deadly. I'm not saying no, but better chances than getting stabbed in the neck. Are we just accepting death now or something?
Blink.
Right, right, right, right.
Oh, HE LEFT THE NO, THE BODY AT LEAST SOME.
>> We still need, you know, to get it looked at, I guess. But >> what the heck?
I'm sad. It's a It's one of those endings when we have to imagine it ourselves.
Okay. I uh I like the movie. I like the movie because it was not the same, you know, the same idea, the same editing style, the same thingy thingy. So, I I think it was like a creative breath of, you know, fresh air, let's just say. Uh I love the music into this one. It was really good. I I like pop cintish songs in general. So, this one was perfectly for this. I would have loved some of that that um you know, clean career as a driver, as a professional driver, maybe a tiny bit there. I would have liked that. And uh while I'm not the biggest fan of open endings, uh I feel like this one was pretty expected. You know, he continues his life. She's safe. Um, it's clear that the money meant nothing for him because, you know, he just wanted a girl. Uh, she had a change of heart and they're not living happily ever ever after. But in another universe, I would love to imagine that he returned to his apartment to try to get himself stitched up and she heard the door and then she went to his house and then he opened the door and they live happily ever after.
That's how I imagine it.
Uh but yeah, the movie was good. I liked it. Um it was not one of those movie. It was an action movie, but it was action by acts, not by like, you know, language or crazy stuff like that. Uh so I will give the movie a four-st star. I feel like a four star is is a pretty fair ranking. Um I like the acting. I like the that we got to get to know the main act actor more from like body language.
Um and uh yeah, all of this pent up aggression and and and and crazy was really contained in this in this body.
We did see the glimp glimpses of it of course. Um it was like this subtle intelligence, this smart silent type uh which I adore and uh I enjoyed this. So I hope you guys enjoy the reaction.
Don't forget full length reaction on Patreon early access here on YouTube channel memberships. Much love to all of you and I will see you next time.
Bye-bye.
