Music Composer Reacts - Canto IX Boss 5 Battle Theme (Limbus Company)

[00:00:00]I believe this is the final Kanto 9 boss theme to react to. I could be wrong. Do tell me if I'm wrong as well if I'm missing something. But this is Kanto 9 boss 5 battle theme. I'm really curious about this one and I think after this or after I've reacted all of them, which I think this could be it, I will then react to all of them in one video cuz I think it could be cool to listen to them back to back.

[00:00:21]I I'm a I I'm Corey of Everything Fantasy. I'm a music composer for video games. I have my keyboard in front of me to help analyze. Let's get into this.

[00:00:42]So, we're in the key of D minor.

[00:00:52]>> [music] >> I think it could be a cello perhaps, something like that that's being used here.

[00:00:58]Um let me try and get a similar sound so I can compare the two, but I'm thinking something like >> [music] >> something like that.

[00:01:13]>> [music] [music] [music] >> Okay, okay, okay. That was That was terrifying. I'm That's kind of That's quite worrying actually.

[00:01:32]Um we had the choir.

[00:01:37]But the choir kept getting cut off and came back in occasionally. It was almost like it was being gated. Um what I mean by that is something like uh is that kind of idea. The strings were doing a similar thing, but I had tremolo strings as well, and I also had aleatoric strings. Those are the strings that kind of create the the big rising sound, kind of like this.

[00:02:15]That kind of idea.

[00:02:17]Um, I felt uncomfortable actually. I felt very uncomfortable listening to that. You know what it is, very effective. Like that's the point I feel like on some level. Um, but that's a really, really cool opening.

[00:02:41]Something like that.

[00:02:48]I think we changed key as well, actually.

[00:02:54]>> [music] >> We changed key twice, actually. So, we went I think originally it was a I think it's originally said we were in D or something, and then we went we went to F, and then we went to E.

[00:03:11]>> [music] >> This is creepy. This feels really creepy. Um, we now have the electronic drum kit as well.

[00:03:25]>> [music] >> That kind of sound.

[00:03:32]>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Oh, oh my gosh, the the glitch repeated note to followed by return to the previous section. This is disturbing.

[00:04:01]This is nasty. It's quite grim actually in a sense. Uh I'd love to know more context as always, but this this was really disturbing. Like I feel personally affected by whatever's happening in game.

[00:04:19]We also have the introduction, I think.

[00:04:21]I think this is the first time we're hearing it of the um elec- electric guitar.

[00:04:33]That kind of sound. They're playing power chords, which makes them sound really aggressive.

[00:04:39]>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> I love there's constant changes in the time signature, I think as well. Um I counted five for some of that. Um but I could be mistaken. Um I love the Uh just those sections where the kind of we get the the This is transition between segments I think I've heard in a music piece in a while, but just know let's distorted glitched repeated sounds going straight back to a previous section in a different key as well. It almost feels like multiple battles at once.

[00:06:02]>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> This feels like a return to the beginning, but let me just compare the beginning actually. I'm really curious.

[00:06:38]>> [music] >> It it is it's kind of it is so that like the choir comes back in a really similar way to the beginning, but do you have the electronic drum kit and we have the distorted repeated segments as well.

[00:07:14]>> [music] >> I need I need an explanation of why I'm hearing these glitched distorted crazy maniacal segments in between phrases.

[00:07:29]>> [music] [music] >> Please got I need an explanation. I I need I need something. I need explanation. I need help.

[00:07:48]>> [laughter] >> Oh my gosh, that was insane. That was That was terror That was actually terrifying.

[00:07:53]I feel slightly scarred, but I need to write a break from this music stuff after listening to that. My god, like I almost feel like I'm suffering from this enemy in a sense. I'm I'm personally suffering from whatever I'm fighting against. I'd love to know your thoughts when hearing the music. Like Also, I'd like to know actually what it's like to hear the music in like on its own in isolation compared to hearing it in game as well. I'd love to know if there's what what difference is from how you feel about it. Maybe you feel the same way.
