The Met Office masterfully transforms the predictable misery of British rain into a clinical, high-utility briefing. It is a perfect example of institutional authority making even the most "murky" outlook feel reassuringly routine.

14/04/2026 - Murky but Mild - Evening Weather Forecast UK – Met Office Weather本站添加:
Hello there. Welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office. It's rain or showers through the next few days, but temperatures will be on the mild side tomorrow. We're trapped between a warm front and a cold front.
Warm sector conditions, but notice all of this wet weather, cloud and rain and showers moving progressively northeastwards as we head through the next 24 hours with further blustery showers to follow. And low pressure remains in charge through Thursday into Friday. So again, a showery regime. Now for this evening, still dry across the far northeast of Scotland. Eventually, you'll see some showery rain here.
Notice this rain is a bit more persistent further south and west. And it's all moving its way northeastwards.
We'll see some heavier pulses across western Scotland and Northern Ireland overnight as that rain continues to move northeastwards.
Quite murky as well. Temperatures holding up a mild night relative to last night. and lots of low clouds shrouding the hills and mountains. So, tricky driving conditions if you are traveling with poor visibility. Here's that warm front first thing tomorrow morning taking the rain towards the North Sea, but it will stall across northern and eastern areas of Scotland. At the same time, this is the cold front bringing with it some heavier pulses of wet weather. in between. Yes, a lot of cloud, but temperatures will rise and it will feel relatively mild for the time of year as temperatures just push into the mid teens through the afternoon. And we will see some drier in interludes, one or two showery bursts, but more persistent wet weather coming in across Northern Ireland, the aisle of man, Wales, the West Country, northwest England later, southwest Scotland, and further shower burst across western Scotland as well as this rain arrives across uh Shhatland as well as Ornneing.
But some drier skies to end the day across more eastern counties before that rain eventually catches up with this eastern area as we head through the latter part of the day. So some wet weather probably around rush hour across the far east there. Before that though, temperatures 17° C here, 14 or 15 further north and west. And notice there will be some brighter skies behind this cold front um with that a blustery breeze and a few showers in the mix as well. So through Wednesday evening, here's that wet weather eventually clearing towards the north. And then a rash of showers continues across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland overnight. We'll see some clearer skies further south and east. But that cloud feeding in across Wales, northwest England, the West Country with some shower burst, but these showers here forming a longer spell of rain as the wind picks up as well. So we could see some very strong winds across coastlines as we head into Thursday morning. with temperatures yet again 8 9 10° C with a blustery breeze to start the day on Thursday. Here's that showery rain.
Showers will develop across England and Wales. Some sunshine in between. They'll be scattered frequent towards the northwest. Northern Ireland seeing some frequent bursts as well, particularly across more northern and western areas of the province, but a little sunshine coming through and temperatures typically around 14 15 16° C. 11 or 12 though for western and northern Scotland. So that's the picture on Thursday. Let me just take you through the bigger picture Thursday into Friday.
Yet again, we see some more wet weather arrive from the Atlantic. This area of low pressure stalls across Scotland into the first part of the weekend with some strong winds for a time, but it will dry up further south and southwest. The air perhaps not as uh warm, but even so pressure trying to nudge in whereas we continue to see some showery bursts across more northeastern areas. Now for the deep dive this week, it's with Alex Deacon. He's talking about El Nino. And then tomorrow is the 10day trend. And I'll see you again soon.
