Citizens have the constitutional right to record police officers in public spaces and are not legally obligated to provide identification or personal information to law enforcement, as demonstrated through multiple real-world encounters where individuals calmly exercised their First Amendment rights while confronting officers who attempted to overstep legal boundaries.

A Journalist Tracks Down Abusive Cops For Fun本站添加:
Name and badge number?
Do what? Name and badge number.
Puddin' Tane. Okay. Is that your real name or something? Yeah, that's my puddin' Tane.
Yeah, so You don't understand that we got called You going to You going to give me your name and badge number or not?
Yeah, I'm not giving you nothing. No, I'm not.
>> [screaming] >> You make me give it to you. Okay.
How about that? I see y'all got any ideas on you? I probably do. I probably do. What's your name and badge number?
That's it right here.
Oh, you wanted him.
You wanted him right here, guys, huh?
He's calling right here, family. Yeah.
You know what You know what I got for you right here? Here's this right here.
I go back.
Welcome back to Street Cops. Today we've got another intense compilation, and the guy in this one is someone I genuinely respect. Not just talk, either. This is the kind of person who actually steps up, faces situations head-on, and most importantly, knows exactly what he's doing. He regularly runs into those cops who like to overstep, the ones who think they can do whatever they want, and then calmly shows them that it doesn't work like that. What makes it so good isn't yelling or drama. It's the way he stays composed, understands the law, and lets the other side expose themselves. It's satisfying to watch, but you also end up learning a lot. The channel is called NC Tyrant Hunter, and yeah, the name fits perfectly. After this video, you'll understand exactly why. If you've never heard of him before, you should definitely check out his channel after this. I've got the link down below.
Watch a few more videos, and you'll probably get hooked. This isn't just entertainment. It's the kind of content that actually makes you look at real-life situations a little differently. All right, enough talking.
Let's get into it. Trust me, it's worth your time. What's going on, Damon?
Baking cookies. You're baking cookies?
Yeah.
Why are you filming and taking pictures?
Why not?
Why not? Yeah. You don't to I was wondering cuz they work here.
>> Awesome day today, man. I don't know who you are and there's seen you out here taking pictures and everything. It's just kind of weird. You got the whole set up. Yeah.
Well, you usually have cameras when you recording, right? Yeah, usually. You got your ID on you, man? I absolutely do.
Where's it at?
>> [laughter] >> Get it for me real quick, man. No, you can't. I don't have it, sorry. Why not?
What's up, man? What's your name and badge number?
Why? What's your name? Cuz you a a public servant and you should tell me your name and your star number.
Put in 10. What?
>> [laughter] >> Name and name and badge number. Wish I could help you, man.
You're not getting my ID, bro. You know this ain't no stop and ID state. Come on now. Listen, you're not You're not going to violate my rights today, so you can just jump back in your car and take the [ __ ] off.
Yeah, you better get somebody.
Not identifying. I thought that was y'all's policy.
So, y'all tyrants, too, right?
Can't hear you.
I can't hear you, man. Can you hear me?
Uh What's that?
I said, "Y'all got any IDs on you?" I probably do. I probably do. What's your name?
>> What's your badge number?
It's here right here. Oh, you one of them. You one of them right here, guys, huh? We're probably right here, probably. Yeah, you know what you know what I got for you? Right here. Here's this right here.
I go back to work. What happened out there? I ain't able to hear y'all.
Tyrant, tyrant, right? What's your badge number, y'all? That's all we got.
ACAB, he's all cool and [ __ ] What's up, guys? What's going What's up? What's your name and badge number? Name's Jerry Lewis. Jerry Lewis. I know who that is, Jerry Lewis.
I don't.
See, at least you didn't come up say how you got us. First things out of your mouth, bro, you got ID. What the hell was that? I was worried about your ID.
Well, he was. First thing he come OUT OF HIS MOUTH, "NOW, how you guys doing?
It's beautiful day." What's your ID? You got ID? Yeah. That's a tyrant right there.
And then you ask him his name, he goes, "Right here."
The hell's that, boy?
That Yeah, that's unprofessional.
You need to teach this one right here, Dan.
Yeah, teach this little tyrant right here. Going back to work.
See, he don't even tell me his name.
Yeah, can't even tell me his name. Going back to Why is knowing your rights so important? You don't have to memorize the law like a lawyer. Just understanding the basics can make a huge difference. Because in real life, things happen fast. And if you don't know your rights, it's very easy for someone to push past the line without you even realizing it. You can see it clearly in this situation. That rookie cop was almost guaranteed to overstep right from the start. Not because he's highly skilled, but actually the opposite. The way he tries to act confident, trying to look cool and professional, kind of gives away that he doesn't fully understand what he's doing. And that's exactly when someone's rights are most likely to get violated. What I respect about NC Tyrant Hunter isn't just that he confronts the police. It's how he controls the situation. Calm, clear, never emotional. And most importantly, he knows exactly where the line is. He doesn't need to raise his voice or create pressure. But he still makes the other side hesitate. And honestly, if there's a king of refusing to provide ID the right way, he's definitely up there.
Not in a reckless or defiant way, but in a way that shows he understands the law, stands his ground, and doesn't let anyone push him into doing something he's not legally required to do. Can I ask why? You can.
You going to tell me? Nope.
Okay. You ain't got an ID on you, do you?
>> I sure do. Can I have it, please? No.
>> [laughter] >> Okay. Is this one of the first minute audit things?
>> It might be. Might be. All right.
Yeah. I ain't got nothing illegal about videotaping people, so That's absolutely right. All right. Can't Can't even tell me Can your name and badge number, please?
>> Yeah.
That's hard to see. That's hard to see down there, isn't it?
9361 58238 >> [snorts] >> So, you're running my tag and telling me what's going on?
My name is Officer Siddique. My badge number is 1272.
Siddique?
>> Siddique. Siddique? Yeah, S I D D I Q Yes. 1272 1272? Yeah, have a good day.
>> I have a question.
>> Yeah.
Name and badge number? Do what? Name and badge number.
Put in chain. Okay, is that your real name? Is that Yeah, that's my put in chain.
Yeah, so you're going to give me your name and badge number or not? You're going to You're going to give me your name and badge number or not?
Yeah, I'm not giving you nothing. No, I'm not.
You make me give it to you.
How about that?
Thank you. See, this officer here thinks he's going to do something illegal. No, I didn't say you were doing anything illegal.
>> Yes. Yes. He said you're going to give me your ID or not. Yeah, I'm not.
Yeah, you're not getting it.
I'm not breaking the law. You're not getting nothing from me. Big daddy.
You're all cocky getting out of this car talking about you're going to give it to me.
You're a joke. But Big joke.
>> I don't know because they may This may be a property line here.
Well, is it GIS map? Because if you pull GIS map, there's a disclaimer on there and I'll get Well, you know, these are These are not exact, you know.
For to be exact So, you want to give me some more unlawful orders?
My house.
You never gave me your badge number and your name.
You're going to failure to identify?
Just call you tyrant.
Is there I mean, what's the reason for the question? Are you asking about the Because they're saying they're on your property or something?
See, this guy right here.
He's a tyrant.
Well, well, I've always been told never say always.
But it There there are exceptions to everything.
There's always exceptions to the rules and all that stuff.
Buildings are right here. How far you want to push it?
All right. Really? Oh, man. How far you want to push it?
Push these nuts.
All right. Well, y'all have a good day.
Right on.
Later, tyrant.
You're dismissed.
I appreciate that. Yeah. I can go home?
I'm talking to Hall there, the tyrant.
I thought you were dismissing us. I thought I could not go home. Yeah, you Yeah, we'll we'll we'll we'll go ahead and do that, too. Take the rest of the day off.
Stephen Burton.
What's up?
Stephen Burton, I really kind of share the same thoughts as you.
Good, man. Another rookie cop who doesn't understand the basics, especially when it comes to privacy rights and unlawful searches. The issue isn't just lack of knowledge, it's misplaced confidence, thinking a badge automatically gives them the right to push boundaries. And this time, they clearly picked the wrong person. Not everyone stays quiet and goes along.
When they run into someone who actually knows their rights, everything starts to unravel through their words and how they handle the situation. It's hard to believe that just because they have a badge and a gun, they think they can pressure innocent people. But real power comes from the law and whether you understand it or not. What What are we doing out here today? Baking a cake.
Baking a cake? Yep.
Yep.
>> Well, unfortunately, they don't >> You want a piece? Huh? You want a piece when it's done?
Well, they don't want you on the property. Um we >> When we get on their property, then then they got problems, but >> You're on the state highway. This ain't their This ain't their property.
>> Yes, sir. Yes, sir, it is. No, it ain't.
Yes, sir.
Give me your Come on, man. The entrance is right here.
It's got to be somewhere for me to walk.
Got to be easement.
It got to be somewhere to walk on both sides of the road, you know that? No, sir. Anyway, this is called an easement.
So, before You already know. Before you go any further, I know what I'm doing.
Right? This is an easement. I got a map in my pocket. So, don't do nothing stupid. Well, this is what we're going to do. You got an ID?
I got a map that shows where their property is at. So, don't do nothing stupid, cuz that'll be bad. Okay. I'm on y'all's property, not mine.
I always carry ID. You mind providing me your ID? I do mind. Why not? Why would I?
Did I break some laws?
Did I break a law?
>> You will be identified. Anybody Did I Did I break a law? Until I break a law, you don't get my ID. You're on their property. I am not on their property.
You You got to show me I'm on their property. Did you Did you investigate?
Listen. Listen, buddy. Don't buddy me. I don't got to show you, man. I'm telling you I'm not on their property. So, do Do your research first.
>> Listen. Hold on. We got a call for service.
Two gentlemen sitting on their property.
Then investigate. Listen. You're You're talking, but you're not listening. I'm listening. I already know what you're going to say. I know what you're going to say.
>> He's got the owner of the I know what you're going to say. where you were standing on the property. What Show me where their property is at. You're standing on their side. This is not their property, boss. Yes, sir, it is.
No, it ain't. Yes, sir, it is. Okay. So, are you going to provide us with any ID?
I am not. Why not? Cuz I haven't broken any law. Okay. All right, so I'm going to ask you nicely.
If you want to record, that's your God-given right by the Constitution. You can do film, do whatever you want to do, all right? But you cannot be on this because you're >> This is the easement, man.
>> This is their property.
>> property. He's on the other side of the road. Why you can't get on the other side? I've been over there and I've been over here, walking down through here.
>> And we're asking do not go near this property. Anything on this side of the road is their property. No. Dude, come on, man.
>> Yes, there's no dude. No, no, no, no.
>> Yeah, there is a dude, but then I know I'm legal to stand right here. There's pictures of you and you in their driveway. Yeah, the right walking back walking through the driveway. Talk. How do you figure? Dude, we got to have somewhere to walk, man. Come on. I need a supervisor. They don't want you >> a supervisor right now. They don't want you on their I need a supervisor. Are you going to provide me with an ID? I'm not. I need a supervisor.
>> You're not getting a supervisor.
Supervisor.
>> with an ID. No, supervisor first. Are you going to provide me with an ID?
Maybe if I get a supervisor.
Well, you want to hand me your ID then?
Oh, no, not until the supervisor gets here. Well, so you want me to do what you want, but when I ask you to do something You're a public servant. You serve me. I don't serve you. Until I break the law, you can't tell me what to do.
>> Okay, give me a supervisor.
Are you going to provide me with an ID?
No, not you. I might give it to the supervisor. You might give it to the supervisor. Might. Very un-reassuring, sir. Well, I don't know what to tell you, boss.
What's your name? Norris? Burton.
Burton.
Okay.
Look, I'm not trying to be difficult, guys, but this ain't their property. No, I'm just I'm I'm standing up for what's right. That's what I'm doing. So, what's right? I'm on the easement.
This is a This is a city easement right here.
Come on, get your supervisor out here, man, before y'all do something crazy.
We're not doing anything, Burton. Okay, well, I'm not moving. All right. Look at me.
How can we help you? You can't help me.
I don't need y'all's help. I'm a grown man. I'm 50 years old. I know how to walk up and down the side of the road.
And y'all can't bully me. I'm not trying to bully you. Yes, you are. That That This gentleman right here trying to bully me. And I know what's right and what's wrong. All right. And I know this ain't their property. You already know.
You just trying to bully me to try to get your way because you you some kind of authority over me, but you're not.
You You have no authority over me whatsoever.
Until I break the law. Okay.
Adam 49, go ahead. Is that not right?
Sure.
And I'm not breaking any law.
Look like you know what you got some sense, but this guy here talking about not giving ID. Come on, man.
You think this is my first time?
Do you think this is my first time? I'm talking to you. What's your name again?
Burton?
Burton. I know where I can stand and where I can't stand, right? I already know this is a city easement.
You You knew that. I I hope you knew that. When they tell you I'm on their property, you're supposed to investigate, right? If I'm standing right here a foot from the road, I got to have somewhere to walk because I can't walk in the road. And you got to have somewhere to walk on both sides.
The lack of understanding from these officers is honestly hard to believe.
It's not just small mistakes. It's basic errors backed by way too much confidence. The original exchange was a lot longer, but I trimmed it down to keep things moving. Even so, it's more than enough to see where things started going wrong. And just to be clear, none of them ended up getting any ID. After all the pressure and back and forth, they were forced to walk away in a pretty awkward way. You can tell they realized they had pushed things too far.
Moments like this aren't just satisfying to watch. They also show something important. When someone knows their rights and stays calm, the whole situation can shift. All right, now for the final clip. This is the part I think you'll enjoy the most. Watch closely.
Hey, how you doing, man? Yeah, man, what's up?
>> Introduce yourself. What do we Is this all Is this really necessary? Yeah, you're not allowed to record a federal installation. How you figure that?
>> [laughter] >> Show me where IT SAYS THAT.
HOW ABOUT How about I'mma record it regardless of what you say? You can't We all took an oath to defend the Constitution, right?
You got to We're not on We're not on military Hang on. Hang on. We're not on military property. Yeah, you're recording a federal installation.
Absolutely. Absolutely, yes.
Absolutely can do that.
I suggest you look it up. About public photography? Do you have that on you right now? No, but I ain't doing your job for you. Are you serious? All right, do you guys have ID? You're not getting no ID. That's That's funny. That's funny, dude. That's funny.
>> Turn around and place your hands on top of I doubt it. Turn around and place your hands on Funny.
I doubt it.
Do you guys have ID? You're not getting no ID. That's That's funny. That's funny, dude. That's funny.
>> Turn around and place your hands on I doubt it.
You're going to get me for what now?
Failure to identify yourself.
Are you serious?
>> your name? No, you can't. You can't [ __ ] us, dude. We know what we're doing. We know what we're doing.
>> How do you want me to address you?
Failure to ID yourself.
How do you want me to address you? You can call me good citizen.
Yeah.
Failure to ID yourself is a secondary to What's the crime you're charging us with? Yeah. What's the crime you're I want to know why he's asking for my ID and telling me to put my hands behind my back. He's got his hand on his weapon.
It's not on my weapon. I'm just resting my hand.
All right, let's start over. Let's start over. You You talk to us because you look like you know what you're talking about. He don't.
>> Hey, what's the purpose for you guys recording right We just out here enjoying this beautiful day.
We're journalists. It's what we do. Uh so, the thing is the gate you're not We can We can record that gate.
>> authorization? No, I I got the Constitution as my authorization.
>> Yes. That's a federal installation. Uh I have to I'll have the watch commander come out here in a second. Yeah, he needs to because this guy right here is fixing to do something very stupid.
>> You have to prove to us that you're not >> That guy.
This guy? Green, yes. All right. Talking about ID'ing and arresting me for not ID'ing. We should Are you serious?
I didn't get much sleep, bro. Okay. Is that why you're cranky today? Trying to arrest somebody for failure to ID?
There's no such statute.
>> me, Clark. But there's no such statute.
You can't take someone to jail for failure to ID, huh? You're not allowed to give your ID. As military, we have to provide our IDs to any installation.
>> Right, but he don't he knows that now.
You need to school him.
Right, exactly. You need to school him.
And we can absolutely film that gate from where we at on public property.
Okay, I don't know about that for sure.
I I do. Federal installation, you're not allowed to film it.
I I We we go around. We go You're not allowed to film access control points.
>> Yes, we can. We we can. And listen, guys, we can't even see what's going on over there. Do you see how far we are?
>> Why do you want to record it? Because we can. But what's the purpose of To to make y'all aware that we can do this.
What's the justification? First Amendment education. Exactly.
To defend the Constitution, right?
So, what's the First Amendment of the Constitution, right? I can't hear you.
No, this is so you learn something.
Exactly, for all of you guys.
Yeah, I mean, you can laugh at us if you want to, but this is educational.
And there was a Didn't you Have you learned anything yet?
I mean, that's cool. At least It used to willing to willing to, you know, acknowledge the the the way it's was everything happened, especially the green over here. He must must be his first day on the job. So, it's kind of like I've seen videos on YouTube like this. They're similar.
>> Yeah. Yeah, there you go. And I mean, it makes sense. It's kind of I mean, I kind of understand why you're doing it. We we we trying to educate.
Right, there you go.
Without being an [ __ ] that's exactly right. Okay, you're testing the limits.
After watching this whole video, let's be real. This isn't just a misunderstanding anymore. It's a lack of knowledge mixed with way too much confidence. When law enforcement doesn't understand their own limits, but still tries to control others, that's when it becomes a real problem. You can see them constantly demanding ID, applying pressure, even trying to interfere just because someone is filming without giving any clear legal justification.
That's not flexible policing. That's crossing the line. Put simply, without legal grounds, they can't force you to provide information or restrict you in a public space. The right to film, the right to remain silent, the right to be free from unreasonable searches. These are basic principles, and what this video shows is that when someone understands the law, stays calm, and doesn't give in to pressure, the entire situation can shift. No need to argue, no need to escalate. Just knowing where you stand is enough. At the end of the day, it's not about winning or losing.
It's about understanding the law so you can protect yourself in situations like this.
