The video provides a sharp technical look at the F-100’s volatile aerodynamics, where raw power meets unforgiving handling. It perfectly illustrates why mastering this aircraft is a true test of a pilot's respect for early supersonic physics.

The F-100 is HERE! First flight and impressions #dcs
Added:Well, here goes nothing.
Welcome to the F100 Super Saber.
Been looking forward to this guy for a while.
Now we finally have it with us. It's time to load the jet up and get into some action.
The flight indicator is always active when you start. So, we're going to go ahead and turn that off.
First things first, contact the ground crew and get ground electric power on.
>> The Super Saber is a very simple aircraft to start up. Not a lot to it.
Let's close the cockpit. It's getting a little loud.
All right, let's go. Battery on.
Just look at the detail on this cockpit.
There's no better way to experience it than in VR.
It's just topnotch.
Quick word from today's sponsor. If you're interested in experiencing DCS with crystal clear visual quality and in virtual reality, be sure to check out Pimax Crystal series virtual reality headsets. They are top-notch. I've been using them for quite a while and they are amazing. They have additional discounts right now. Definitely worth checking out. Now, back to the video.
The grime, the grit just looks so good.
All right. So, got ground power and now >> connect ground air supply.
>> We'll connect the air supply.
>> Copy.
>> Engine master switch is on covered.
Set the tan.
IFFF on.
All right. So, we got the engine tack running. When it hits 12, we'll hit the engine start switch and on.
Let's introduce fuel into the engine.
And it's taking off.
Good start.
Ground power off.
>> Chief, turn off the ground power.
>> Copy.
>> Check the hydraulics.
And we're going to drop some snake eyes today. So, let's get those configured.
All right, very straightforward. Not too much to worry about. So, the ANAPR 25 powered up.
Raise the seat up for visibility.
Set the mood lighting.
Beautiful.
The hunt uses radio navigation to get around.
It's very rudimentary. Definitely a day fighter.
And the compass is guided by radio. So you can see that the signal is coming from behind us. It's pretty much that simple.
Oh, what do you say we taxi this bird? Let's go see what she can do.
The detail in the cockpit is very impressive.
Even the uh jiggling of the fueling probe as we taxi.
It's really cool.
All right, last minute checks before we take off.
Engage the damper.
Let's take the runway.
All right, positioning and holding. We're going to slowly advance the throttle or else we'll get a compressor stall and you don't want that.
Rotate nice and easy.
Airborne.
Hell yeah.
No real navads aside from the radio.
The hunt likes to be fast. Start getting slow in the hunt and things can get pretty spicy.
Don't want to get into a saber dance today.
There's a river we're going to follow south.
should more or less dump us in the target area I've identified.
Okay, we got the river down there now.
We'll head south.
All right. And on our kneeboard, we have a bombing and rocket table. We're going to use the Mark 82 high drag.
We're going to go for 500 ft, 500 knots. Actually, let's do a shallow dive. So, we'll aim for a 500 ft drop point at 500 knots, 10°. So, we're going to use 105 right there.
Let's see if we can get some uh score some hits today.
And we got the site uncaged. We're ready to go. All right, it's time to turn into the target.
Let's dive down. Target should be over there somewhere.
See if we can find these punks.
Now remember, we're aiming for 500 knots, 500 ft, 10° dive.
Targets are out there in that field.
Bomb's away.
Oh yeah, we got him, boys. Look at that.
We got him.
That's the blower kicking in. It really gives you an oomph when you hit it. Um, it's really, really, you feel that thing kick in. It's pretty awesome.
Quick BDA of the target.
Secondary is cooking off. Many vehicles on fire.
That's a good day.
Unplug the blower.
Let's go home.
Back to Ramstein.
While we're heading back home, let's uh let's quickly evaluate how well the F100 turns. No one's expecting even F4 levels of performance here. But uh I think I think the general rule for the F100 is you get one pass and then you're dead. So, let's just kind of see how she uh how she does. Uh let's kick in the blower, get some speed.
That's an awesome feeling, guys. You got to experience that in VR. It's amazing.
Really feel the forward momentum of the afterburner as it hits you in the back of your seat.
And they're at about 11,000 ft. A little less.
Let's enter a high G turn.
Wow. Uh, it's sustaining its air speed. I mean, obviously I'm diving a bit as I'm turning, but it's sustaining the air speed quite well, but I mean, it's just the size of Texas. This circle I'm making, it's bad.
To be fair, I am rocking two gigantic drop tanks, so I'm sure that affects it.
But yeah, this uh this is not a dog fighter. This is not a dog fighter.
Looks like that was a 4G turn.
What's kind of cool is this gauge right here. This points to um where you started at.
And so it in a way it's kind of helping me navigate back home by itself, which is kind of neat.
All right, I've got Ramstein insight.
The Saber is infamous for its low-speed handling, or lack thereof. Getting too slow in unsafe conditions can mean the difference between coming home with your plane or in a casket. So, let's try to be careful.
All right, on heading speed's a little low, but 300's okay and break.
Speed's below 250. Let's drop the gear in the flaps.
All right, wings pointing at the end of the runway. Throttle up. Turn to final.
Using quite a bit of rudder here. Maybe a little too much.
And we're looking all right. We're looking all right.
Start flaring.
Easy, easy, easy.
All right, we're down.
Pop out the brake. Shoot.
which is definitely tricky landing.
Definitely.
I mean, forward visibility is absolutely awful. the seats raised all the way up and uh yeah, it was hard to see, but you know what? We're on the ground. The airplane is not damaged. We're safe. I'd say that's a good day.
And we're home.
Hope you guys all enjoyed the video.
