Autonomous Car Crushed Harvard Square. Then the Navigation Glitched.

[00:00:11]Welcome to Harvard Square. This is a great area cuz there's so many bikes, so many pedestrians and everything and people who don't know what's going on.

[00:00:20]There's a lot of tourists as well.

[00:00:23]Um so like this car in front of me now just doesn't know what to do. It's supposed to turn so the car just goes over the double yellow and passes them.

[00:00:36]Well done.

[00:00:37]And then um as we go through here you'll see like right now there's like a double stop.

[00:00:44]It's an all way stop. So let's this car go and then somewhat aggressively goes next which it should do.

[00:00:51]Um so it did that really well. I think what's really cool about FSD is just it's constantly calculating everything around it like every parked car could open a door. Every pedestrian walking by, what are they going to do? And I really really like that.

[00:01:08]Um so like you'll see that if someone just walks out a little bit the steering wheel will turn um to avoid them. Like these people, they're pedestrians going by but they stopped to go to the trash can. So the car just kept on going. Thumbs up.

[00:01:28]Really really good job there.

[00:01:30]Um >> [music] >> so we are headed right into Harvard Square right now and um my [music] favorite part of this is just there's no stress. Like you just sit back, you touch some buttons and it goes.

[00:01:46]Um the no stress is such a huge thing.

[00:01:52]>> No stress, no grip, just open road.

[00:01:59]Then no >> Okay, so we turn left and [music] we're basically in Harvard Square at this point.

[00:02:08]And [music] at this point it needs to merge into the right lane and it's you know, it's got the blinker on. There's an aggressive bus [music] right next to us that won't let us in. So, let's the bus go by.

[00:02:23]>> [music] >> There's a truck right after that, but it does cut in front of the truck to get in.

[00:02:28]Which is great.

[00:02:30]Going to kind of speed through some of this. It's just waiting in [music] traffic.

[00:02:36]And all the while I'm just kind of chilling, which is great. It's one of my favorite parts of this.

[00:02:41]Um so, at this point there is a navigation issue. So, the FSD is great, but the navigation needs a lot of work.

[00:02:52]So, I'm supposed to get over to the left lane. It does merge over and get to the middle lane, but I'm supposed to get in the far left lane here. I'll just let you watch to see what happens.

[00:03:03]And it's not getting in the right lane.

[00:03:08]All right, had to take over there.

[00:03:12]Navigation problem.

[00:03:15]I did step on the accelerator and move left to get in the right lane.

[00:03:20]Um but anyway, these these navigation issues do come up.

[00:03:25]For me, they don't happen that often, um but I know some people, you know, live in areas where just things don't get fixed. You can report them, so you'll see that I did hit the navigation issue and say say that that was a problem. And I feel like they do >> [music] >> uh correct those. It's a lot of times like a week later it won't do it again.

[00:03:45]Um or even the next time. The AI is pretty smart, so.

[00:03:49]Um I rerouted through some back roads.

[00:03:53]So, I went ahead towards kind of Brattle Street and then hit the Harvard Bridge.

[00:04:01]So, um speeding through here, we're going to come up on Memorial Drive.

[00:04:06]Um and [music] this is also a good area. There's a lot of construction going on and FSD handles it perfectly.

[00:04:16]We get through this light um and then you'll see right here, if you just watch, this guy almost cuts me off.

[00:04:26]He turns [music] right into the lane.

[00:04:28]FSD moves away and slows down.

[00:04:31]And then keeps on going. So, if that guy had cut in farther, uh FSD was ready and it just handled that really well. It kept on going um but was very, you know, cautious about what that guy was doing.

[00:04:46]Uh so, great job there.

[00:04:50]We have to merge into [music] the right.

[00:04:52]Does it perfectly.

[00:04:54]And all the while, I'm just enjoying [music] the scenery, you know, like in Boston especially, um Cambridge as well, there there is some, you know, [music] anger on the roads. We call them massholes and then a lot of people just like honking or getting pissed off or sitting in traffic and just wanting to be where they're supposed to be.

[00:05:17]I get that.

[00:05:18]>> [music] >> Um I used to be someone who loved driving and I just couldn't imagine not driving.

[00:05:24]>> [music] >> Um but now, having been on FSD for like, I don't know, six or eight months, I do not want to go back to driving.

[00:05:34]It's so nice just to sit and like look around, see your surroundings.

[00:05:40]Um here I changed the the location just a little too early, so I'm going to speed through this. I kind of did a loop and came down Memorial Drive.

[00:05:51]>> [snorts] >> And then I wanted to get to the Harvard Bridge. Um so I'm going to speed through all of this. But yeah, the the stress-free part of FSD is so nice.

[00:06:05]I mean, Boston and Cambridge are just beautiful. So you can see like look at the skyline out there. You can enjoy what's going on. You can see what new restaurants and eateries are coming up.

[00:06:17]Um so that's such a great benefit. And it's one of those things you don't really realize that you needed in your life until you have it. Um because I just remembered driving was so nice and I really enjoyed being in control of the car. Um but now I just fully trust FSD. Um I hope you enjoyed this tour of of Harvard Square here.
