BREAKING! Possible positive direction for the Garden Grove toxic tank emergency- OC Fire AuthorityAdded:
Breaking news, there is a possible positive direction with a Garden Grove toxic tank situation and evacuations.
I'm Heather Ann and if you don't know me, I'm a travel content creator, but I live in the area. I am outside of the evacuation zone, but only by about a mile and a half. I'm battling a really bad medical condition and I am disabled right now. So, this has been very, very scary and stressful. I'm going to play the recording for you, but to sum it up, the Orange County Fire Authority said that they sent people in to actually get a visual on the tank and it does have a crack, which is relieving pressure. So, maybe there won't be an explosion and they I I believe that they've set up containment for to catch all of the methacryl crackalite crackalaca.
I can't say the word. This is potential good news and here's the recording of what he said. Good morning. I'm T.J.
McDowlin, interim fire chief for the Orange County Fire Authority and I want to give you a quick update of a operation that we did last night.
Yesterday, we built a specialized team with subject matter experts. We developed a plan to go do a operation last night, late night, to go get eyes and do a recon mission on the tank.
During that operation, our firefighters went in and they were able to visual- visualize the tank. What they found was a potential crack in the tank, which could potentially be relieving some of the pressure in there. We took that information, we got data on it and right now this morning, what we're doing is we are vetting and validating that information. With this new information, it could change our trajectory and our strategy to this event. Last night was a successful operation for this emerging incident since ongoing incident. There's going to be a lot more information coming today as we sit here right now and vet and validate all that information that uh we got last night.
Last night, this operation that we did gave us positive intel to make educated decisions today in the positive light.
We're not there yet, but this was a step in a right direction and there's going to be a lot more coming shortly. Thank you.
Thank you to every firefighter and whoever else was with them who went and got a visual on that tank.
I actually cried when I saw the video because I have family who are fire who's a firefighter and family in all kinds of first responder jobs. And what they did was so exceedingly dangerous.
They were willing to put themselves in great harm for the rest of us and I I just can't thank them enough.
