Seyer Pro Fight Gloves ReviewAdded:
Hey, what's up guys? Today I'm doing a review of the SER professional fight boxing gloves. So stay tuned.
Just waking up in the morning. Got a new waking up.
Hey, what's up guys? Carlo here. Today I'm doing a review of the Ser Professional Fight Gloves. I got mine in the red colorway, 10 oz. It is a fight glove, so it only comes in lace up. You can also get this in 8 oz with a total of three colors to choose from. The exterior of the glove is made of full genuine cowhide leather with a polyester satin liner. on the inside of the hand compartment and layered foam padding over the knuckles that's medium in density and I'd say about an inch and a half in total thickness and the gloves are handmade in Mexico. So before we go over the design and the sizing profile of these fight gloves, there's a couple of key details I wanted to share with you guys. First things first, I got these gloves from Ring Kong. If you're interested in checking out their website, I'll put the link down below in the description box. And what's really nice is that they do ship to the United States. U now when you go on to their the profile for these gloves, you'll see the pricing. There's three colors, black, blue, and red. You can get them in eight or 10 ounces only in lace up.
Um each pair is handstitched in Mexico from 100% premium leather over multi-layer latex and specialist foam core. That combination is isn't accidental. how SER engineers both wrist stability and genuine impact absorption to a single glove moisture barrier. So, um definitely more detail in here, but nothing nothing that we haven't really seen already. What makes this glove I would necessarily say unique from a design's perspective, but what I feel like makes this glove more protective than your typical fight gloves is that layered foam padding they use over the knuckles. Now, generally speaking, you know, fight gloves, they're not designed to be training gloves. You could use them. A lot of fighters do use these smaller eight or 10 oz fight gloves during their training, particularly doing pad or mitt work or even heading hitting the heavy bag. With that being said, you know, most of the time a lot of these fight gloves, especially the Mexican style ones, incorporate some type of combination, usually like with horsehair, open close cell foams, latex, whatnot, um, in there. And um in terms of like hand protection and shock absorb absorption, it's not usually the best because you don't really have much there over your knuckles to protect your hands. So that's why often times, you know, when it comes to hitting the the heavy bag, if you're training on the heavy bag, most people will use bag gloves or they'll use a little bit heavier gloves or they might even use bag mitts, right? But uh the layered foam padding they use in this glove is more on the medium density side. So it really makes it nice for hitting the pads and doing mitt work compared to some of the other fight gloves I've used in the past. Now when it comes to the design, it has a very simplistic look.
Obviously SE is a Mexican brand. I know the story behind them uh is that they have some relations to Gator Reyes from a long time ago, branched off and then created their own branding. But you can see it has that classic Mexican look and aesthetic design to it. For a 10oz glove, these are definitely on the compact side. So for those of you like myself that prefer more of a compact fitting glove, then this will definitely check off that box. The leather on the glove has a sat satin finish to it and has a pretty smooth texture. It does have Seer in black, professional ser on the back, the glove. Coming down, you have the flat wrist support with the SER cloth patch. Says professional SER 1930 made in Mexico. It's in white with black font and some silver outlining of the SER right there with the 10oz weight tag that is stitched into the side of that patch. And then on the opposite side of that patch, you also have the SER logo.
What's nice about this cloth patch is sometimes they go you get gloves that have a little bit of a cheaper patch and you start seeing some of the edges start to fray a bit with this this definitely feels really nice and premium. You know, again, if you're using this in a sanctioned fight, if you're a professional fighter, then obviously this is going to be completely taped up.
Uh but they did definitely did a really nice job with a cloth patch right there.
Uh inside of the glove, nothing too crazy. You do have a polyester satin liner. You also notice that there's a plethora of tags here. So, they have the SER tag at the bottom. Um, and it also does have their social media information there. So, um, I, you know, SER does have their official website. Um, if you're not fluent in Spanish, then you can translate it to whatever language you're in, but they do have their website, but I got mine from Ring Kong.
And then you have the round tag right here. Basically, you have uh 12 24 36 12 24 36 basically 60 rounds total um that you can use these for. Uh and then obviously you you get these tagged off by whoever the sanction and body is. Uh but you have that right there.
30 rounds. Sorry, not 60. Why did I say 60? Had a brain fart. Anyhow, so you have that more information right there.
polyester satin liner. Back of the wrist, you're looking at probably about a quarter of an inch of medium density foam padding. The inside of the wrist, you're probably looking at again about an eighth to a quarter of an inch. And again, they're fight gloves, right? So, the the main purpose of these gloves is not really so much for protection for your hands to use for like bag work or training. It's a fight glove, so they have to be exactly on point with weight.
Uh laces are a good length. They're uh black with plastic tips and they're flat laces. Um I definitely like the thickness and the width of the lace.
They're not too uh not too wide so it doesn't drag and have resistance when you're lacing the gloves through the little eyelet holes. Uh it's a cotton lace. I wish it was a little bit more of a polyester blend. There's really no stretch to these laces and they definitely feel a little bit on the cheaper side. If you're familiar with these laces, then you'll know exactly what I mean. But definitely a little bit more on the cheaper side. You do have the warning label right here at the bottom that's stitched into the piping.
Again, double stitching with white thread. You also notice there's some embossing here. It says 11-24.
I don't know if that's a serial number or maybe just the date that this glove was manufactured. So maybe they were made in November of 2024. That's my best guess. And then an embossed SER logo on this other side right there. Kind of give you that authenticity.
Black piping on the palm. black piping on the base of the thumb, ventilated holes on the inner portion of the thumb.
You also do have a leather attached thumb in black, and a very large and firm grip bar. Probably one of my favorite features of this glove is that grip bar. When you have your hand in place, you can really feel it right on on the palm of your hand, and you roll your hand up, it feels like you're grabbing like a roll of coins. So, uh definitely a very nicely designed glove.
Aesthetically, very pleasing, classic look to it. Uh definitely enjoy the way these gloves look. Okay, next up is going to be the quality. I put the gloves on the scale and both gloves are exactly at 9.8 O, which is great to see.
So, you know, the gloves are exactly the same weight as each other and they're almost exactly at 10 ounces. Again, I don't know what the discrepancy if you were to use these in a sanctioned fight with the discrepancy in weight needs to be. I would assume that every sanctioning body has guidelines for that. Uh, but I would probably say, you know, maybe like 0.2 ounces off is probably an acceptable range, I would assume. So, you know, again, both gloves are exactly at 9.8 O. Um, the leather on here has a very nice finish and feel to it. It does have that strong um leather smell to it as well as what I believe that what even Ray uses kind of like a waterproof or a water resistant coating that they put on the leather to help preserve it. So, it does have a definitely a stronger um you know, leather smell to the glove. Uh I'd say if there was any opportunity with this glove would probably be just small areas of stitching. Um nothing too big. I mean, you can see certain areas that you know maybe is pulling through the leather. Just a little bit, but very minimal. There's nothing in here that is really a big red flag in terms of the craftsmanship. Just a couple small areas like right here where that piping is where you can kind of see the stitching kind of pulling through. But the back where the thumb meets the back of the hand looks good. The logo you can see kind of the heat transfer uh outline of the logo. So you have that you know the stitching on the thumb looks good. The attachment palm side all looks really clean.
No exposed foam on the inside portion of the liner and inside the hand compartment.
Grip bar looks really good.
Again, patch looks nice. So, that's the left. Show you guys the right glove real quick.
Leather is held up really nicely and little areas right here. Again, probably just that black piping piece right there where the thumb and the the uh index finger intersect. Attached thumb. Looks really good.
Outside edges, piping. It's done really clean.
So, in terms of the the workmanship of the glove, I think they did a really nice job. Uh, they're fight gloves, so there's not a huge emphasis on padding in the wrist area. So, the gloves, just like a lot of other fight gloves, are going to be a little bit on the topheavy side, but that's not so much a concern with fight gloves. Symmetry-wise, putting the gloves next to each other, pretty much the same exact height and width. You can see the logos are pretty centered. I say from a height and center, I'd say they're pretty much exactly the same. I'm sure if you get a measuring stick or a ruler, you can measure it and make sure the exact if you wanted to go that route, but they look good. You have the patch on the bottom of the wrist support right there.
And that looks good as well. So, symmetry wise, that looks nice. Thumb position, it's pretty much identical on both gloves.
palm facing.
That looks good.
Punch surface width and height looks good as well. Same thing with the thickness of the the padding over the knuckles. So, the foam padding thickness again about I say about an inch and a half on both sides.
Base opening of the glove same width pretty much the same thickness as well.
So overall very nice quality and on point with weight. Okay, let's discuss the comfort of the glove sliding your hand in. The liner feels really nice throughout the entire hand compartment.
The pocket where the fingers sit and same thing with the thumb. Thumb opening at the base is large enough and accommodating. So even with hand wraps on, you don't have to you don't feel like your your thumb is getting the circulation cut off to it. When I roll my hand into a fist, you can see that the attached thumb does its job by keeping the thumb from flaring out. But I don't feel like the thumb is too shallow. Um, there is a piece of felt like a lot of Mexican manufacturers use in the secondary portion of the hand compartment. So, the fingers where they sit right now, there's a a piece of felt that's rolled up that covers one the stitching and then two, it allows your fingers to sit in that pocket really nicely. So, that's extremely comfortable. And of course, that large and firm grip bar so you can really feel it once you roll your hand up into place. Wrist support feels good. It's pretty comparable to most fight gloves out there. Nothing too special about that. When everything is tightened and laced up with your hand wraps on, it has a nice slender and slim feel. And you can see the shape of the glove. Very, very contemporary Mexican style when it comes to the shape. The gloves are very well broken in when you first get them.
I'd say they're probably about 95% broken in. Although these aren't advertised and don't have horsehair in them. They're not a horsehair glove. you still get that nice flex flexibility to open and close your hand to carry and uh catch shots, which for a fight glove is extremely important. Obviously, in a professional fight, you're going to be catching and, you know, parrying shots, redirecting shots. So, it's imperative that to have that flexibility with your gloves and that they're not too stiff.
Um, so the the hand compartment in terms of the width is is wide enough, not too narrow as well, so you don't feel like your fingers are kind of collapsing on each other. Um, the foam on the back of the hand, on top of my knuckles is really soft as well. So, it doesn't feel like you have this rigid foam that's up against your knuckles or on the top part of your hand that feels uncomfortable.
So, I do like the fact that they use a little bit of a softer foam on the inside of the hand compartment that really kind of covers up your hand and it feels like your hand is sitting in this really nice comfortable pocket rather than having any type of space or voids inside the hand compartment. So overall, that's probably one of the highlights of this glove is definitely how comfortable they are when you have your hands in here. Really nicely broken in. Um, and no no pinch points, no areas of concern when it comes to discomfort with these gloves. Okay, let's discuss the protection and performance of these gloves. And what I really love about these is the fact that they use layered foam. They they infuse some latex in there, probably some closed and open cell foams on the inside, which makes this glove for a fight glove surprisingly protective, especially for shock absorption. And I was using this for the heavy bag. And when I was starting to use these, I was really afraid that if I if I threw with any type of power that I would really feel the shock up against my knuckles and then it would go down into my my wrist into my forearm. But these did a surprisingly nice job of absorbing shock, which is kind of rare for a fight glove, yet alone Mexican style fight gloves typically where they use horsehair blended with some type of open and close cell foam. So, it was actually a pleasant surprise to get a fight glove that I didn't really have to pull my punches with, right? Or you didn't feel apprehensive when you're doing bag work like, "Okay, I'm going to throw this left hook or I'm going to dig to the body and I feel like, you know, I'm going to get some sore knuckles." And these gloves did actually a really nice job. Now, that's not to say that I would say you can make these your full-on training glove and that these are going to last just as long as a bag glove or a training glove that's built for bag work. This is still a fight glove, so you have to kind of temper your expectations in that regard. You know, fight gloves again historically are are not made to last as long, at least when it comes to the foam padding um as some of your contemporary training and bag bag gloves are designed to do that. So, that's just something to kind of keep in mind. But, if you are hung up on getting a fight glove in 8 or 10 ounces that's compact, if you're like me, I like those small compact fitting gloves regardless if it's a fight or training or sparring glove. Um, and you want something that you can you can throw with a lot of, you know, all your power and feels like it's a little bit more protective than some of the other fight gloves that might incorporate horsehair or some softer foams, then this is definitely up there on the protective end when it comes to a fight glove. So, uh, that's what I really enjoy about these, using these for the mits. These feel amazing. You get excellent pop, great feedback, and again, you get that flat punch surface, but you know, the more you dig into it, you can actually feel that padding. It compresses up really nicely.
So, some gloves, you know, you can really just kind of push right through, right? And um really feel the shock of the punch when you land your punches.
With this, you get that great feedback.
You can see how that punch surface really conforms to whatever you're you're landing your shots on.
But again, it just does a surprisingly good job of absor absorbing shock. So for a fight glove, definitely more on the protective end. Okay, let's discuss the price of these gloves. Currently on the Ring Kong website, these retail for $134, which I think is a an excellent price um for these gloves all things considered.
You know, made in Mexico, really nice quality leather, craftsmanship is pretty much on point, weight's pretty much on point. Um very comfortable. I love the padding on these. These are to me when it comes to a fight glove, excellent gloves for bag work and for hitting the mits. And at $134, I you're going to be hardressed to find a Mexican Mexicanmade glove in general at that price point.
So, I definitely love the fact that these are priced extremely competitively, you know, compared to the rest of the market now that everything's really inflated with when it comes to boxing gloves in general. So, these to me are definitely a winner when it comes to that. Um, there's really no cons in my opinion with these gloves outside of, you know, some small minor, you know, like some stitching here. Obviously, the balance of the glove, but this is a fight glove, so I can't really ding it too much on that. But outside of that, you know, they they come in three colors, you know, your red, blue, and your black, which is pretty standard, eight or 10 ounces. So, in terms of of checking off boxes, I know you use that term a lot. I think this glove does it very very well. And um you know, if you're like myself, I'm not a professional fighter. So when I get gloves like this, I'm not using this in a sanctioned fight or whatnot. So I can't speak on that end of it, but you know, for somebody using this for for hitting the mits and hitting the the heavy bag, these are definitely one of the best fight gloves for that. So very impressed with these so far. Um and at $134, I think they're priced perfectly.
So if you guys have any questions or comments, you guys know what to do. Put them down below. I will put the link in the description box where you can find these SY Mexican professional fight gloves. I'll see you guys later. Peace.
