High humidity levels cause the heat index to rise significantly above actual air temperature, making it feel much hotter than the thermometer reading; for example, with temperatures in the 90s°F and high humidity, the heat index can reach triple digits, creating uncomfortable and potentially dangerous conditions that require precautions like hydration and sun protection.

Feels-like temperatures of 100+ degrees on the last day of Fiesta | KENS 5 Weather Impact ForecastAdded:
I love Fiesta too, and we got one more day, so >> day. Hopefully it'll be a good one. Yes, yeah, it is good. We just got to get through this fogginess in the morning, [music] but today the issue is only going to be mugginess, stickiness, the hair cast once again, not great, but man, look how foggy it is. So, this is also a mix of low clouds, but by 11:00 a.m. to noon it should clear out, but throughout the morning just watch out for the low fog low visibility right now. All right, temperature-wise we're waking up to 72° right now. Winds are calm, last day of Fiesta, woo. All right, so we've got a lot low low visibility right now as you can see, especially in Kerrville, especially in New Braunfels, San Marcos, Hondo, Pleasanton, and just throughout the morning expect it. All right, so temperatures mid-70s right now, low 70s, and we are looking at hair cast dew points, so once again in the 70s. So, today especially you're going to feel the stickiness, the mugginess, the humidity, but I mean it's still a good day. We don't have much rain chances, only 10% chance of rain. So, the rain is not going to be an issue today.
The clouds are going to linger all day today, and it's going to be a lot like yesterday. So, if you went out yesterday, I mean it was hot, it was humid, so just keep that in mind, that's what we're expecting today as a well.
Forecasting a high of 93° mostly cloudy skies, and then in the evening still really warm, so by 7:00 8:00 p.m. 86° by 11:00 p.m. still in the 80s. We're probably going to be in those mid-70s in the overnight hours, so just really warm temperatures. You do not need a jacket whatsoever. And as far as our radar, we've got a lot of red flag warnings, the yellow that you see here in New Mexico, that's also a high wind warning, so a lot of high winds, dryness, but the reason we're not looking at red flag warning here is because we've got in a good amount of rainfall, so that definitely helped us out, but we're still in a drought here in South Central Texas. So, where are we at for rain chances? So, little bit of rain chances every day next week though, we've got a a good chance Thursday into Friday, so that's going to looks like our biggest system so far right now is on Friday next week, but as far as today tomorrow you don't have to worry about any kind of rain. I mean, very small chance. Our friends up north though, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, they've got a chance of tornadoes today, severe weather. We are on the tail end of that system, so is it possible to see a drizzle or two?
Yeah, but I don't think it's going to be an issue at all. So, I don't want to scare you anyone for the last day of Fiesta. Definitely head out there, have lots of fun.
Again, our biggest system is going to be Thursday and Friday, looks like it'll bring lots of rain for the end of next week. So, looks like we'll be seeing a good amount of rainfall once again Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So, hopefully fingers crossed now that Fiesta's over, we we want the rain again, right? All right, and temperatures Tuesday is going to be our hottest day this week with a heat index of possibly triple digits, so we're forecasting 95° but with the humidity it's definitely going to feel like triple digits, so just prepare for a hot and humid week. Drink lots of water and apply the sunscreen. So, here's a look at your 14-day forecast, we've got back-to-back 90s all the way through Wednesday, we're keeping that 10 to 20% chance of rain. We'll drop to the mid-80s on Thursday, which is also the last day of April, and then May 1st 83°, so staying on the cooler side of things Saturday it looks like we'll be at 74°, that's going to be our coolest day in the 14-day forecast, and then back to 80s by May 3rd.
