Noctilucent clouds form when rocket exhaust freezes in the upper atmosphere due to extreme cold temperatures, and as the sun rises, sunlight refracts through these ice crystals, creating a distinctive neon blue glow that gives these clouds their ethereal appearance.

SpaceX launch causes noctilucent clouds in the skyAñadido:
SpaceX launched this morning and it launched at the perfect time, just around sunrise, so we could get these, the noctilucent clouds. Essentially, what they are is as the rocket launches into the sky and goes into our upper atmosphere, that exhaust freezes in the upper atmosphere because it's very cold up there. And then, as the sun comes up, it refracts the light through those ice crystals and we get that neon blue color that make them look so beautiful and glowy. Now, the shape, of course, that jellyfish shape, that's just all coming from how fluid our atmosphere is, so they kind of morph into different shapes, which is super fun to watch.
But, that is the science behind our noctilucent clouds that were up in the sky earlier today.
