13 ON YOUR SIDE Forecast: Trending Summer-Like; Tracking Storms into Next Week

[00:00:03]So Amber, last night at this time there was a wind chill in the 30s. What a difference tonight makes. Oh, it feels so much better. Blake was wearing a winter coat out on the weather deck yesterday. Didn't even need a light jacket this evening as our temperatures are still in the 60s. Finally, we're back to more seasonal temperatures and that carries over into tomorrow. What we saw today not too far off from what we have for our Friday. All across the region, temps topped out in the upper 60s further inland. Out by the lake shore, I will say it was a bit cooler because of a bit of a lake breeze. Close to 60° for a high temp out in Muskegon as well as Holland, but here in Grand Rapids, we hit 67°.

[00:00:39]Tomorrow looking fairly similar, maybe just a few degrees warmer than what we saw today. Blue skies out and about, we're staying nice and clear into this evening. If you've got any plans over the next couple of hours, here's what we're looking at.

[00:00:55]Temperatures by 9:00 p.m. close to about 53°. We will continue to see clouds increasing overnight with the chance for a couple of showers to try to pop up tomorrow morning. Just about a 20% chance for that between 9:00 and noon, but beyond that, we see decreasing clouds once again. If you're heading out to the amphitheater for that first concert, thankfully, we're seeing temperatures close to 70° by 5:00 p.m.

[00:01:16]Still clear skies lasting into the evening as well and even by 10:00 p.m.

[00:01:20]temps are still close to 60°. A light jacket probably not a bad idea, but you won't need anything more than that.

[00:01:26]Clouds will increase again as we're heading into early Saturday morning.

[00:01:30]This is ahead of the chance for a couple of thunder showers to develop. I will say that doesn't look like we have all the ingredients necessary for these to be strong to severe, but we still could see the chance for a couple of those that are at least a little bit noisy.

[00:01:42]We'll keep you updated if that looks like it's going to be ramping up, but for the most part, it looks like it's not until we get to Saturday evening that we're seeing a greater chance for some stronger storms. Looking at temperatures close to 80 during the day, so our temps are soaring, humidity is building. Off to our south, storms will be developing and making their way closer to the state line into our Saturday evening. Right now, it looks like that system for the most part is sliding just to our south, but I do think a couple storms could inch their way further north enough to get close to the I-94 corridor. That's why we're seeing a one out of five risk from the Storm Prediction Center in the southwest Michigan. Vast majority of us though, if we see a quick thunder shower, it's likely to be non-severe. That's not our only rain and thunderstorm chance over the next couple of days though. We'll continue to see rain, thunderstorms Sunday, Monday, and into Tuesday. Then it then looks like Monday's going to be our greatest risk for some of those storms to be on the stronger side.

[00:02:31]Looking at a severe risk off to our west for our Sunday. It's not until Monday that we're really starting to have our eyebrows raised. This is when we're seeing the potential for severe weather in west Michigan. At this point, it does look like all modes of severe weather could be a possibility. Keeping in mind that this is still multiple days out. A lot can change between now and then, but models are starting to tip us off to at least the idea that some of these storms could be strong to severe. Here's one of the reasons why we've started to really pay close attention to Monday. Look at just how strong this cold front is moving through Monday night into Tuesday. It drags our temperatures from the mid 80s Monday down into the upper 60s by Wednesday. Also during that time frame, we're seeing building humidity.

[00:03:08]Dew points Monday and Tuesday close to 70°. That leaves our feels like temperatures in the upper 80s, and I wouldn't be surprised by a couple of areas instead feeling like you could be closer to 90° Monday afternoon. So, it is going to be very summer-like as we are kicking off this next week, and also summer-like in regards of some of those thunderstorms that we can expect to see.

[00:03:29]As far as what we expect for tomorrow, temperatures out near the lake shore will be in the upper 60s and close to 70°. It is going to be a bit breezier as we're closing out this week with sustained winds between 10 to 20 mph mainly out of the south. Our northern zone will see temperatures close to the 70° mark. Clouds will be decreasing throughout the day. More sunshine into the afternoon and evening. Southern zone sees temperatures also close to 70°.

[00:03:51]Pretty consistent. Further inland that you travel right around the 70° mark with still more sunshine as the day goes on. The 13 on your side 7-day forecast seeing that 20% chance for a quick morning shower for our Friday but other than that quiet throughout the rest of the day. Beyond that though this weekend brings increasing storm chances storms on and off Saturday all the way through Tuesday morning. During that time frame it's going to feel like summer is our temps will be close to 80 if not into the 80s and also humidity that will make it feel even hotter than that. Once that system passes through though Monday into Tuesday lingering showers there for Tuesday but drier after that with temperatures much more seasonable into the end of next week. I mean I'm happy that it warmed up but I hate to lose spring so quickly because I'm really enjoying this pleasant weather.
