This video demonstrates advanced Sudoku solving techniques including naked singles (cells with only one possible number), naked pairs (two cells that must contain two specific numbers), and box elimination (using existing numbers to eliminate possibilities in other cells). The walkthrough shows how to systematically solve a hard NYT Sudoku puzzle by identifying constrained cells, applying logical deductions, and progressively filling the grid through these fundamental techniques.

New York Times Sudoku Hard Solution for July 19, 2026: Walkthrough
Added:Okay, so this is New York Times Sudoku hard for July 19th, 2026.
This is my walk-through and you can play this Sudoku from the link in the description.
Okay, let's get it going. First thing's first.
Okay, we place nine in box six.
I can place also eight in box six here.
And uh Ooh, uh what else?
Oh, uh eight eight gives me eight here.
Now, row six is missing four and the seven.
Here's four.
So, this will be seven and this will be four.
And now I can place three in box six.
And this six blocks these, this six blocks here gives me six on row five.
And this will be one and the seven.
Seven gives me one and the seven.
One and one gives me one here.
Uh these are two, four, five.
Here's two and the five, so this will be four.
And the last number of row five is seven.
Okay.
1 2 3 5 8 Um Oh, right. Um there's a double in box nine. It's 4 5 double because here's four and the five which block these cells.
And this cell is blocked by four here and the five here.
So, these cells in box nine cannot use four and the five.
So, they will have to share these two cells.
And that means these two will be three and the six. And here's six, so this would be three and this would be six.
2 3 5 8 Oh, one two five Um Right, and now Um row three is missing 1 2 5 7 9.
I'm going to put all of them here because this cell is blocked by 1 2 5 7.
So, this is a naked single. It's blocked by all the numbers except for nine.
And the nine nine nine gives me nine here.
And the three and the three gives me three here.
Now, that gives me because uh column one has 1 3 6 and column three now has 1 3 6.
For box seven, that means I cannot use 1 3 6 in these cells.
So, these will be 1 3 6 triple.
I should clean this up. Three here blocks this cell.
Okay, that's it.
Okay, um back to row two. Um these will be 2 5 8 and this cell is blocked by two and a five, so this will be eight.
And here's two, so this will be five and here's two.
And these will be one and the five.
Here's five, so this will be one. This will be five and here's one.
Now, uh that gives me a double on row eight. It's going to be 2 7 double because this cell will be used by three or six and here's two and the seven which block these cells.
So, uh two and the seven have to share these two cells on row eight.
And uh that means these will be 3 4 6 9.
And here's nine, here's nine and here's nine. So, these three cells cannot use nine.
Mhm?
>> Right. And that leaves this cell 4 9.
Okay, 1 2 4 5 3 4 6 and the 2 5 2 7 8 Oh.
2 4 7 8 9 Uh I'm missing something.
2 6 7 Mhm.
Oh, okay. I can place 9 in box 7. 9s These 9s block these cells gives me 9 here.
Right. And now Okay, 4 and the 4 block these cells and this will be used by 2 or 7, so I can place 4 here.
That gives me 5 and the 4.
And that gives me Oh.
That gives me 5 in box 8.
>> And this will be 1 2 4.
This is blocked by 2 and the 4 gives me 1 here.
Here's 4, so this will be 2. Here's 4. 2 blocks these gives me 2 here.
Now this will be 5 and the 7.
7 here gives me 5 and 7 2 and the 5. 2 7.
The last number or row 3 is 1.
This will be 3 and the 7. 7 here gives me 3 and the 7.
And this will be 7 and 8. And here's 7, so this will be 8. Here's 7.
And 1 and 1 already blocked this well, so this will be 1.
And this will be 2 and the 6. Here's 2, so this will be 6. Here's 2.
3 6 4 row 3. The last number here is 6.
And this will be 6.
Here's uh 8 and here's 4.
Okay, here it is.
