PETG filament does not require drying before printing when stored in moderate humidity conditions (40-60% relative humidity), as demonstrated by successful prints using both dried and undried PETG filaments; additionally, AI-powered 3D printing applications can generate detailed busts from uploaded photographs, with the resulting models being surprisingly accurate and detailed.

Artificial Intelligence 3D Prints? | Plus some updates and plansAdded:
And welcome back to the 3D Taylor.
It's been a few days. Last upload was Tuesday.
It is now Friday evening.
I've been a bit busy this week.
Um we'll talk a bit more about that shortly as to why I've been so busy.
And I'm also going to talk about a few other things that have been sent my way or are on their way which I'm going to share with you guys when they arrive.
Um I don't know if you can hear the printer, but it is going frantically um at the moment and we'll cover that in a bit, why it's going frantically, cuz there's some exciting stuff in the background.
Um which is great. Um firstly, thank you to all of those who continue to support the channel. It's absolutely amazing and I am so, so grateful.
Um I am on this 3D printing journey with you and I am at week or I've lost count if I'm honest, six is it? Week six-ish, maybe into seven where my voyage of discovery sees no bounds with the Bamboo P2S and the things it's capable of, what we can do and all the rest of it. Um so on that note, I'm going to start with something I found purely by accident when I was looking at the Bamboo Handy app.
And there was a bit in there about um AI generation in one of the menus.
So I clicked on that and found you can create a bust of yourself.
>> [laughter] >> Which I thought, "No, you can't do that, surely." So I went on to it, and when you click on to it, you then upload a photo of yourself or anyone else, um and it will use AI and generate a 3D model, which my Bamboo has printed out.
>> [laughter] >> Of course, it's way, way more accurate than I thought it was going to be.
Um it's difficult when you look at yourself as a bust, um but my wife looked at it and she said, "That really is quite good, very detailed." So, go to the Bamboo app, go to the menu, and create AI model.
And there you have it. I'm going to show you how mine came. I've done it in PLA marble to give it that stone bust look.
Um so, here it comes. You ready?
>> [laughter] >> Are you ready? Let me get out of the way so you can focus.
And here I am.
>> [laughter] >> I got to say, consider Hang on. Consider likeness, ready?
There we go.
Considering And this is me sorry, this is me being amazed again.
I've used my mobile phone.
I've took a photo from it that was already on there.
I've added it to some program called Bamboo Handy, said create, and hey presto, it has literally created a proper model of me. I mean, help me out here. This is The other thing you can do is this, when it takes it to the slicer, you can change this as small, or if you choose, you can make it as big as the print will allow.
You can have like a almost a a semi sized real person penis house.
I have found I found that absolutely amazing, and I think it's brilliant.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it other than this video, but I still find it quite amazing. So, yeah, that was one good find this week.
>> [laughter] >> Now, the big news as to why I've been quite busy this week. I'm I apologize in advance. I'm going to give you half information because I have drum roll, please. And this is the dream, which I think it probably is with a lot of 3D printers.
I have invented a product.
Um Obviously, I think this is absolutely amazing.
And it took me Oh, dear.
It took me three or four or five days of using the CAD designer, printing a failure and another failure, and a whole host of failures until eventually I printed the one I wanted.
And that had a few tweaks.
That had a few refinements till eventually I've came up with my final design, print, proof, and I'm really happy with it.
Now, I'm not going to reveal today.
Sorry to disappoint. I'm not here to clickbait you.
I'm not here to tell you what it is today, but that's going to be in a later video, but what I am going to say is don't lose faith in a dream you might have.
And although I am a maker, I'm a creator, I love playing with the 3D printer. I always in the back of my head, you know from my coasters talks, I wanted to make something. Now, whether I continue to do that with other products, I'm planning to.
Whether they're successful or not, I don't know.
But I've had a go.
And that is the main thing. I've had a go.
So, I've made my product.
I am currently in the process of getting some marketing material for it, as in what am I going to put with it when it gets sold? What is somebody going to visualize on product-wise on the internet? And what am I going to write about it to hook people in and understand it.
So, I'm currently going through that process.
I think I'm going to sign up to Shopify.
And I'm just going to go headlong into it.
I'm going to upload it, do the best I can on Shopify, and see if I can market it. That's when I will show you. When it's ready to go to market, I will put a link to the YouTube.
I'm not sure how I do that yet, but certainly the description.
And I think later on I can link products in some way. So, I will definitely do that so you can see, and I'll talk about my journey when we get there. And if I sell some, I'll be absolutely amazed. So, that is something I've been working really hard on um these last few days. Um probably four, five days.
And when you see it, you think that's taken you five days. But honestly, it really has. So, that's to come.
Um also, I have, as you already know, I have something quite exciting on its way of which I'm going to do an unboxing with you and show you how that works.
That is on its way.
So, I've had the confirmation.
And for me, that is really, really exciting. So, you're going to see that.
Um I've also got a few other things because bizarrely, since I've been doing this channel, I've been approached by different companies and I'm being very selective with the companies I'm choosing that I'll say, "Actually, yes.
Give me that product. We'll have a look at that." And I'll show my viewers and we'll have a look together.
And they're only going to relate to things we do on the channel. So, there's a few of those coming up as well in the pipeline.
So, that's kind of where we are moving forward in the very short term.
Now, you might I don't know how keen-eyed you are.
Very from previous videos.
I don't know whether you've noticed, but I might well I've got a few more filaments.
Should we have a look?
So, you may remember these shelves had no filaments on whatsoever at the start and the start was only 6 weeks ago.
But, we now have two whole rows of PLA.
All basic, metal, marble, galaxy, silk.
But, you might notice I have another new row of PET-Gs.
I've gone a little bit PET-G crazy.
So, we've got black, white, blue, red, and brown.
And loads of refills.
Which might give you some clue as to what I'm using for my new idea.
Now, the new idea uses all PETG.
No PLA whatsoever.
And I have to say I quite like PETG. I like the way it prints.
And I don't know whether it's just me, you'll have to tell me.
Stick it in the comments, please do.
The white PLA is duller and less white than the PETG filament.
Now, I don't know whether that's my imagination, but I put two one against each other and looked at the PLA and the PETG and the PETG was much, much brighter, much whiter and had a much nicer shinier, smoother finish.
Um that isn't the only reason why I've gone for PETG. I need UV stability. Oh.
>> [laughter] >> I need I need UV stability.
And I also need it to be a little bit more waterproof. So, that's all I'm going to tell you on my idea.
Over the next week to two weeks subscribe and you will see that unfolding.
Now, it may be a real big success and I'll be this time next year Rodney and millionaire.
And for my viewers in other countries that don't recognize that term, that is the Trotters Independent Trading.
Only fools and horses.
That's a famous quote from them.
Or I'm going to be stood here telling you I did my best.
>> [laughter] >> I don't know how it's going to go, to be honest. But either way, it's going to be a journey.
And I'm going to enjoy every moment of it. And the great thing about it is I am working a full-time job as most or a lot of you are.
And at the moment, I can do these things risk-free, if you like.
Um it doesn't actually matter.
So, that is why I'm doing it. I'm having a go.
Um if you want a job later on when I'm rich and famous, give me a shout.
>> [laughter] >> I wish.
So, that's that. You might know like I do um when you get into 3D printing, there is a lot of contention around different products, different filaments, different ideas, understandings, the list goes on.
There is a scientific basis for some, there is a usability um idea for others, and there is pure uh um conjecture and idealism and experience that people use for all of their answers.
There are some right answers, semi-right answers, and complete fabrications.
Anyway, what I want to talk about today is PETG and the drying of filament. And this I found quite an interesting one.
Now, before I bought all this new PETG, I had a bit of a Google.
I used a bit of AI.
I asked some people on forums about drying it versus not drying it versus using it straight out of the packet versus drying it out of the packet and a whole myriad of different bits and pieces. So, I did a little bit of an experiment.
Now, I'm in the UK. I'm in Hampshire in England.
And the humidity around here at this time of year is in its mid-50s, maybe up to 60, sometimes a bit higher.
In this room here where we are, cuz I've got the dehumidifier on, it's around 40 to 43, thereabouts.
So, that's what we're dealing with in here, and that is what it is out there once something is en route to the house.
Now, I had I'm going to use two colors in particular. I had a white PETG that I already had in the machine that had been through the dryer for 10 hours. So, that white PETG I dried for 10 hours at 65° um which is centigrade or Celsius, that is, which is the recommended drying time and temperature for most PETGs. It It's the higher end of drying.
I also had a red PETG which I took straight out of the packet, no drying whatsoever, chucked it into the 3D printer, and off I went, and the items I'm currently printing for my idea use both of those colors.
They have printed out, and both are absolutely perfect.
There is nothing untoward, stringy, different, or whatever about any of those two products at the moment.
Now, I completely understand if you store them or they've been in a humid or wet environment, there's going to be a difference. But for me, in those conditions, absolutely no effect whatsoever. So, that's pretty good. I'm using the um I'm using the cereal boxes which you can get Amazon. I think I've shown these before with the desk in in.
And obviously I get it once you've had them for a while and they're out of the sealed packets, that might be slightly different. But I am going to monitor that and see how that goes over time as well.
Um now, it's not that I'm being lazy.
I'm really, really interested in facts and if it actually makes a big difference or not. So, that is why I've done that. Um so, yeah.
Hopefully I'm doing these things so you don't have to. The other thing I'm going to just mention is Tinkercad.
Now, I'm not expert enough to start opening more complicated programs yet.
I've been using Tinkercad.
And thank you for the people that have commented about use of Tinkercad.
I am an absolute beginner I would describe myself as.
Although I did go to town on my design and spent hours on it, [laughter] but I still class myself as a beginner.
I'm going to try cuz you you've asked me, lots of you, to do a very quick video in the very near future about using Tinkercad and my experiences at my level.
Um so, that's just going to be a really basic how to open it, how to create some really basic stuff, send it to your your printer and to print it out because it's probably a lot easier than you think.
I, like a lot of you, probably had these visions of it being a really complicated, I need a big powerful computer with loads of memory and RAM um to get all this stuff designed and spend years and hours on the system.
When actually it's it's actually quite I I would go as far as saying easy without being patronizing. It's It's easy-ish.
If you can use a computer or a mouse um and understand basic tasks and you've got YouTube to hand, do you know what?
You are probably capable of making nearly anything. So, I'm going to do a very very short video very soon about the basics of using Tinkercad. And for those real expert users, I do apologize. It's probably really easy stuff for you, but there are people asking for somebody like me who's just started to have a go and show show and tell how did I get on. So, I'm going to do that in the near future as well. So, it's a bit of an update video today of things that I've done, things that are coming up, and things to look forward to. I Well, I certainly am looking forward to them, and I love telling you all about it.
If you've got any ideas, thoughts, feedback on anything that we've talked about today, give me a shout. If you've got any thoughts about what you'd like to see in those videos that I've mentioned, please again give me a shout.
It's great for your continued support.
The the subscriber count is going up. The views are going up. It's It's absolutely lovely.
Um and I feel humbled by all of your comments, likes, and your views, basically. So, yeah, I hope you enjoy the videos that are coming up soon. That's where we are.
The next video I'm planning for Sunday.
Bear in mind we're Friday today, cuz I am working a full-time job as well. So, it's just squeezing everything in as best we can whilst toiling away hours trying to get my new idea product up and running, of which I think I've done the design and the concept and the production to the finished item. So, that for me is really exciting. So, that's going to come soon, too.
Um thank you for watching.
Like if you haven't, if you want to.
Subscribe if you can. It's free.
It lets YouTube know there are people wanting to see it. And I will see you in the next video on Sunday.
