This podcast episode explores the psychological pressure men face as traditional providers in society, examining how financial expectations can impact self-worth and wellbeing. The hosts discuss practical budgeting strategies, including the importance of tracking all expenditures and creating a 'convenience budget' for household services. They emphasize that financial discussions should be open and non-judgmental, and that self-worth should not be tied to monetary success. The conversation also addresses the challenges of self-employment, where irregular income can create financial stress, and highlights that investing successfully does not require financial expertise but rather understanding business growth drivers.

Fun & Joke Aside Podcast | Episode 4: The Pressure to Provide追加:
Yo, man. Hey.
What's good? What's good? Oh, God. You want to have a drink?
>> Yes, sir. We have some wars.
>> Sorry. We're drinking from this bottle.
>> Yeah, man.
>> This a new bottle, right?
>> Yeah, man.
>> I'm here. Remember, it's about budgeting.
>> You have one use already. You don't want to finish one bottle before them. Show me off the money.
>> You know what?
>> Good to go.
>> Ignore me. So what you what you want?
You want We're having it straight on ice. Chaser >> on the rocks.
>> On the rocks.
>> All right.
>> How you having >> I have you know um the word of the day for me is pressure that I will not succumb to. I >> I would like some pineapple juice with mine please.
>> All right. Don't judge me here. Hey.
Hey. Don't judge me. It's a long night ahead.
>> Long night ahead. Can we talk know some things?
All right. So, you know, it's been a long day.
There we go. You know how such a beautiful sound?
>> It's such a pretty sound, my brother.
All right. Hold on. Feel like that kind of magic.
>> Yeah. Yeah. All right. Let me get your chaser.
>> Oh, you tried it on the rocks.
>> You want to keep it on the rocks or you want your chaser?
>> Oh, that is delicious.
>> Yeah. This peer pressure wins today.
He's here. He's here.
>> He's here. He's here. All right. So what happened upon a man money is it you know from your little boy you hear a man to provide no debate no discussion just expectation but nobody really talk about what that pressure does to a man because what when he can't provide it or when the system hard and tired does he lose value, respect himself. So right now want to get real is providing a man's purpose or is it the weight that's quietly breaking it? Today on Fun and Joke aside, we have Scotty, content creator, influencer, man of many hats. He's famous for his series, What a Grand Can Do. So perfect person to bring when we're talking about making money stretch. Hey guys, Remy Watson here and I've made my way to KFC. Guys, I was just waiting on a good deal for you and now we have it with the value. So, let's find out what a guy can do. Let's go.
>> Hold up. Let's strategize.
>> So, I have options. Our first option is a famous bowl for 620 and that's going to be chicken either original or barbecue cheese, corn, gravy, and mashed potatoes with a drink. Our second option is a crunch sandwich for 625 which is the crunch sandwich fries and a drink.
The third option for 630 is a small popcorn chicken. And that's going to be the original, the spicy, or the barbecue popcorn chicken fries and a drink. Or the chicken box at 680, which is one piece of chicken, any flavor, fries, biscuit, and a drink. Think I know what I want. We also have Demani from Signos.
It's a investment institution, right?
And he can tell us how to grow the money after you stretch it.
>> You can grow it and compound it.
>> Yes, that works. Thank you. Oh, hi. I'm the man, senior manager in the investment management unit at Signos Capital Limited. And here are three takeaways from Signals Credit Investments performance for the 6 months ended December 31st, 2025.
First up, record performance from our Puerto Rico business. A Christian Financial Limited delivered strong growth with total investment income rising 39.9% to US 5.83 million. Follow us for more updates on our financial performance, strategic initiatives and investment.
>> So man them welcome to the part.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Um right now I just want to introduce yourselves. I did a horrible intro for you guys. I just want you tell the people them specifically you know about yourself. Just introduce yourself a bit some juice. You know what I mean?
>> Okay.
>> Yeah.
>> Hey guys, Jeremy Watson here. Um I am a content creator, videographer. I also started teaching now. I do that part time. So, I teach um I mold the young minds in prep school.
>> Teachers deserve all the money that they ever will ask for. Um I'm rooting for you all the time. Um but I honestly I grew up in an environment that we always not necessarily stretched but budgeted.
>> So >> if you earn $10, you save two no matter what. Your bills could be 20. You have to save two. So, I've kind of just taken that somehow the most high just made it my job now to budget and I'm appreciate it every single day every video that I can help somebody either find a new restaurant or save some money at lunch time.
>> Respect, bro. The money you're kill Reed. I'm a investment manager at Signos Capital and if you stay tuned, you may get some tips and tricks on how to grow your wealth. All right, let's intro them preparing like this. All right, so talk to the man about the traditional provider.
>> Sorry, just so you know.
>> Yeah, >> two more sips that I'm doing here like >> No, man.
Make it stretch.
>> Yeah, man.
But yeah, I want to talk about in Jamaican society now. We're a very traditional society. Many be man provider. Give me your opinions on that.
Do you agree with that? Are you proud of that? Do you have a problem with it? Who wants to start?
>> Well, I know before I came, I had a lot to >> get off my chest.
>> Yeah, man. Let's go.
>> So, we know that women >> how they view um the dynamic, >> right? They need every everything. They need a man to provide financially, >> spiritually, >> emotionally, mentally, >> every type of >> every kind of alley the down there.
>> Yeah, man. And um it is a lot of pressure >> on a man and there are different >> age brackets to contextualize that type of um support that you know a man can give right a man in early 20ies >> cannot give the same support as a mans >> and still expect >> but the expectation my friend >> very give the man them a little >> a few gems >> to navigate that situation I appreciate that, Scotty.
>> So, I grew up in a in a household that was >> I don't want to say gender based is the wrong word cuz that there's so many connotations to that now. But, for example, me as the boy son, you gone outside, you rate the yard, you cut the yard, wash the cars, that kind of stuff.
And my sister, female daughter, well, I mean, redundant, but you get what I'm saying. All right. Sweep dishes, that kind of stuff. The the softer household homemaking things. And as I've grown older, I've gotten a deeper appreciation for the separate roles, but because I'm my own person and I I ain't gonna lie to you guys, >> yeah, >> I subscribe to the house husband. So, I'm perfectly okay washing dishes if needs to be.
>> If my wife wants to give me a drink, I'm just saying, you know, if that is the circumstances, because we're adults, >> yeah, >> times hard.
>> And let's assume you somehow buck up on >> a billionaire. You can tell the billionaire to stop because you earn good money at signals.
>> I'm assuming you know what I mean. You tell your wife who come from um >> Gates her last name is Gates stop work.
We'll deal with it.
>> No, but you but you develop a dynamic that is all right. Let's assume >> she works 12 hours, you work 8. You're more than likely going to get home before her and dishes need to wash.
Right.
>> Don't get me wrong, in this scenario, you're going to have a maid or butlers or whatever. But let's assume it's just you two.
>> There's nothing wrong with washing a few dishes because it's a family unit.
>> So, it's not a matter of man must do this, woman must do this. As I've grown older, I've gotten a deeper appreciation for >> we are supporting each other because we're a unit. There aren't there is no separation in a unit anymore.
>> There's a soft separation because of it's >> it's culturing and ego, >> but at the end of the day is two people coming together in a partnership. That's how I live my life now.
>> That's surprisingly wholesome. I didn't expect any of that on this man on this episode. I'm sorry.
Yeah. Watch.
The man come with a script.
>> Yeah. So, >> I think about this all the time.
>> Oh god.
>> I'm going to look like such a bad guy.
I'm not watching I'm not washing any dishes. I'm sorry.
>> What? No. Tell us tell us why why you would watch.
>> So, all right.
It's not that I believe in the >> Yeah.
>> traditional gender norms of the woman is the is the >> um care caregiver of the house and she does those soft things, >> right?
>> Um I grew up, you know, you have a helper, you have somebody around the house who can >> I like with it >> because we're I mean listen in this >> in this economy >> Yeah. The 9 to5 thing not going to cut it, right? Sometimes you have to have a side hustle. You have the podcast have another business >> in a hustling environment. It's hard to to unwind and relax at home >> and then you come home and dishes have to do and >> so to win the D of the scene she work for somebody.
>> Yeah, I can get behind that.
>> That has to go in the budget.
>> It has to be in the budget. Yeah, man.
>> To be in the budget.
>> We both need to earn enough. We've figured out the life plan to say, "All right, every month, this is the convenience budget."
>> Mhm. So probably the chef or at least we know the restaurants we going to that have on speed dial.
>> Wait. Well, I mean you have something similar, right? In terms of budgeting, it's it's the same like you have >> Yes. I mean, one thing I would always advoc advocate for is to detail >> all of your expenditures. Yes.
>> Right. It's a very uncomfortable thing to do, but it's a very necessary thing to do. Right. Um, and I'm talking everything transportation, >> groceries, woman budget.
>> Wait, so we can have a section from a spreadsheet named Gal?
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Specifically that G Y A L.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Sorry. If you prefer Dal, I'll have a D >> and that can be different that can be different than wifey >> which can have her own budget.
>> Anything.
>> Depends on your preference.
>> Interesting. But once you have it modeled out, >> um, you now are able to make proper sound decision as to what it is that >> you want to do. And >> that sense of security, >> it radiates, the woman feels it, >> and it's not just, okay, >> you reach the end of the budget.
>> Yeah.
>> You dr yourself now and end up at one party.
Table empty.
>> Table empty. I look on you know the table empty >> the doors show the doors you can't squeeze me >> if you if you know already that the budget reach limit >> right chill out watch a movie >> can I no go ahead why is that uncomfortable for people I ask because I'm the person to my friends I have friends right now that I say They'll tell me, "Oh my god, I've overspent." And I'm like, "Hey, do you want us to sit down? We can probably go to AC or somewhere >> and we can discuss your income expenditure." That is what I do for my friends cuz I >> I love budgeting. I love to see all the money coming in, all the money going out. And you know what you can do? Maybe we have to buy the doors a year.
>> Maybe buy the thing, Scotty. And that's that's the next thing I want to touch on. Money and men, they tie like this.
We tie our self worth our wellbeing to money.
>> How much what our bank balance is determine.
>> Yeah. If it under certain level depressed vomit upset upper one part yo so you see me can understand how some people might be uncomfortable or prideful even especially as a br say so how do you approach that conversations >> here's the thing I think I'm a pretty chill person as much as yeah it's someone like have the script or whatever but you see my personality is very whatever For me, it's hey me or you me I realize I make some irresponsible financial decisions. I don't care how you will feel cuz at the end of the day >> money >> it green it no feelings no matter where it come from >> so it's one flat constant >> your feelings are insignificant to me you're bridging I need to make more money we're going to call my bridging from signos and figure out how I earn more money podcast but we need to look at what is happening >> and aside are real thing aside real >> we need help I'm not the best with What is that song producers? But but that's the thing. How do you So I get Scotty's approach with burg. He's very approachable. As somebody that's strangers are walking into signness to ask for financial advice. How you approach that conversation with complete stranger.
>> So I mean Scotty hit the nail on the head. So >> you do have to have that.
Well, you ask why people >> uncomfortable.
I mean everybody in the US these tic tacers Lamborghini >> Lamborghini here Lamborghini Ferrari here >> and you said boy >> feel a little we bro >> you have you have a you have a little >> swift >> maybe civic man you know or or a three series, four series be my can go on >> but ultimately you say okay he's where I am right now >> three series four series is is not is not >> every other day are going to bring down >> cyber street four Serious under the new Cora the thing gone brother thing.
>> But the big thing is that >> like I said at the start of the podcast >> we have to contextualize where we are.
>> Right.
>> Right. At Signos most of our clients are >> um you know upwards of 40 you know established >> true entrepreneurs. So they have a different reality than a young and upcoming 20 year old.
>> Tell us about that that difference.
>> That reality I'd love to get >> as somebody that's not in their 40s they I'd like to know what what what lifestyle are you seeing right now.
>> Right. So the expectation for someone who is let's say late 20s mid20s just left university or have been working for let's say 3 4 years. Yeah.
>> Um >> the idea is that you'd have a stable enough income to at least afford, let's say, rent a space.
>> You may be living with a parent still.
>> Um >> a man, we have a man for the podcast.
Really believe in that. But continue >> can live with mommy or daddy >> for as long as it takes to save and invest.
>> All right. That's >> to get that nice big twotory, threetory house.
>> All right. Right.
>> Um the idea is that you're earning enough >> to have a surplus at the end of it. When you when you buy your groceries, >> when you pay for your gas, pay insurance, pay whatever you need, car maintenance, >> bills, >> you have enough >> left over to invest some money.
>> Okay, >> you grow that money over time, right?
It's a snowball effect. Right.
>> Saving year over year over year >> will compound and it will help to >> reach that level when you're 30, 40, 50.
>> So is it that I can just >> I don't pay my car note, my rent, I don't have mortgage yet in this 20 scenario.
>> Um don't put on a dollar budget, you know, I mean you have girl, you know, you mean girl, you know what I mean? So he doesn't need you >> work. So is it that I can just come to you Jamani and say hey I have this money do something with it.
>> So actually right what I would recommend >> um is that you do research >> and there's a lot there's a there's a lot of free thing very specific >> there's a lot of free resources out there. to just learn >> about investing, learn about saving.
>> Okay, that is right. I want to touch on something controversial. The thing when you go with Bolt, >> maybe you should have done a little research.
>> Well, man, you should do a bit of research.
But um >> yeah, do a bit of research and >> listen, you don't have to be this expert >> in investing to actually invest.
>> Some of the best investors in the world.
>> Yeah.
>> They are not from finance background >> really.
>> They're just regular guys who understand the drivers of of growing a business.
They're entrepreneurs maybe.
>> They understand how businesses grow.
>> True. and then pick, you know, certain niches, certain industries that they think will thrive in the in the next 5 10 years and they put money, they put money.
>> That's just it.
>> That's it. That's it.
>> Wow.
>> You know, you can be a layman.
>> Mhm.
>> Barely know financial terms, but you know, all right, I buy a iPhone every year.
>> There's a reason I I'm hooked.
>> Yeah. say buy some stock because and then you know say okay this iPhone flop >> maybe I e off the apple cuz know maybe they're not being as innovative as they used to be >> right and you and you navigate like that you know you are a consumer >> you can know what is good and what is bad from investment >> so I want to ask you as men that you know different backgrounds how do you do you still knowing the things that you know prescribe your self worth >> with money. Do you do you equate it? So >> as a as a man as men that are supposed to be above the financial >> that little mental thing we have you >> you conquer money in terms of stretching it you you conquer money in terms of growing it. Do you still feel that pressure as a man to be like, "Yo, if the thing set a certain way, man, nothing."
>> I will say on that.
>> I'm not going to say I do, >> right?
>> But I will never forget I think 3 years ago, it was the second year of a relationship I I had, >> right?
>> And in the third year when we were recollecting the second year, >> I was informed that was my brokest year.
And I was informed of the behavior pattern that my partner identified.
>> And I was shocked like, "Oh my gosh, I can't believe." And the the the the ven diagram in the center >> was that I was broke.
>> I to understand people >> when you're in it, you don't feel it.
>> You function a certain way. Your your your short feel.
>> Okay. Yeah. Go into it a Were you more?
Yeah, >> I know that it was because as a full-time content creator, there is no 25th of the month.
>> There is no all right, I'm going to take my 20 vacation.
>> There is no sick days. There is no invoice date either. You could tell a company paying 15 days and and December come.
>> People don't be fooled by the set, right? The glitz and the glam.
>> Let me tell you rough. your content creator life the the the self employment life nice enough >> but no nice more time than it nice but the point is at that time okay let's say you have a couple invoices out your invoices are out so you're gross money >> but you're eating bread and butter for example >> macaron I do love me the oats my >> but I'm just saying it's it's it's when you're in it you don't feel it but the people around you can feel the all right you're going out for drinks and the first thing you're going to say is yo guys you know someone broke broke today >> me said that shame like >> you either say it or something will come out or you just kind of you're small suddenly you're not as fun at the party like whoever did buy the drinks and them get the woman in your head. I know that don't have no sex from last year. But your perception the fact say money assume say that >> and let me tell you broke I'm not touching liquor and I never put money towards it but now I drink it >> but that attitude that energy that aura will come across so you don't know it's happening >> true >> it's there so yes we do you agree with that >> so let's use that that same example that Scotty has used you there the table Mhm.
>> Um so yeah man bring this month >> you did a pre white rum flask and not even sorry not even a certain flask hey man bring the wars and you can barely manage a flask. Do you feel less of a man at that moment? So no and the the excuse to give people say healthiness the manitness journey >> when it say >> yeah man like that style >> you have to smooth it but but it still goes back to the fact say you can't just tell the man say you You don't have to tell them that you know transfer 20 grand pay for the juice. You see when I go send you back.
>> Why do you feel that way?
>> I don't know Scotty. I don't know.
>> I I've had experiences with my with my ble. Let's say it's the middle of the month when I was working when I had a 9 to5. Um I was parting with my B at the time. I went to Jojo or going to Jojo's that's so far.
>> Wow.
elder.
>> The man say, "Yo, we're going Jojo for drinks." And I say, "Yo, guys, honestly, yo, >> don't reach it." And my bridge look at me and say, "I didn't ask you that."
>> True.
I've been so do I how the comfort for me is I'm around people that I'm allowed to be comfortable with. There's no uncomfortable money topic. I was raised and luckily the people I've invested in my life. M >> so I'm genuinely confused when people say we can't talk about money we don't discuss salary or whatever it don't matter there's no jealousy and I don't want to know how much you earn because XYZ is just how much you earn so we can make the budget how much you earn so we can make the budget.
>> Yeah.
>> Now are are any of you in relationships you know pney and thing?
>> No I'm driving the gilding truck. I change the tires.
>> Wow.
>> Um I service it occasionally. Yeah. I just oil for it the other day.
>> I am the doctor.
Cheers. Cheers. One of one of >> All right. So, the man are good ladies, they're single. Hey, who? But um do you think you could manage right now in this economy to have kids or a family?
Pressure to provide is real.
>> You think you could have breed a woman right now?
Remember, you know what I mean?
>> So, as a man that wants to see >> GDP growth, >> productivity, labor, productivity, rise, right?
>> Yeah.
>> To breathe, right? But >> but I don't mean >> right your fault and take a sip right there.
>> What you saying? Do what I say.
>> I do. All right. Scott it.
>> So 2023.
>> Hell no.
>> Right.
>> 2024 cuz I'm still building a brand.
Scotty. So you know when when things start it's slow. True.
>> 2024 >> getting there.
>> 2025 I actually started having thoughts of, you know, I could comfortably >> could if if the Most High were to bless me with boy.
>> If she said, I'd be like, >> good, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> 2026, especially because I now start teaching. So there's a little bit of a 9 to5ish the 25th of the month know say something coming in that allows me to plan it. It frees up so much mental space for me and worse because I'm still doing the content creation thing is like you know that haphazard money is there that I've been surviving on so I know it works.
>> True.
>> So I have this system that I know it works.
>> Mhm.
>> And the 9 to5 system work. So I'm at the point now where >> if a happy accident were to occur >> I wouldn't cry.
>> I probably call you and be like >> you know she breathe bro say yo when the rain like when the baby show business we up going to try and manage it right now.
I'm not saying it's easy >> cuz the budgeting is still there. Things are really expensive. School fees is out of this world.
>> Do you know that you have to give your prep schooler, meaning 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 year old, $1,000 a day to go to school?
>> How much would I get?
>> $200.
>> Oh, prep school.
Prep school coin was getting a big hold on different $20 coin in prep school.
>> Ah >> prep school I was getting two bills in.
>> All right. Easy now. Easy, man.
>> Is it two of your >> definitely I'm getting the signal from a producer. So, we are definitely at the segment where I just want you guys anything you want to promote. Not necessarily a business, if it's a brand, if it's just a message, you just take the stage with the camera and say something to the people, you know, man.
Um, you just to promote a message >> by telling a little story, right? Right.
Um, you see for men especially, I'm talking mainly to men that are late 20s, early 30s really, you know, getting your career pushed to that next level.
>> Do not worry about the glitz and the glamour. You don't have to buy one of Mary shirt, the Palmy, the Gucci shoes, you know, Alexander McQueen, >> right? You know, say you never really care about Alexander McQueen at all, but you see say it's expensive and you say, "Yeah, man. I go buy this car. It cost 1,000 2,000." No, listen.
At the end of the day, if a woman rate you, >> you don't need to wear none of them.
Then >> get that same money drop on the market.
He's way more interested in seeing the thing grow and only can buy big house, big car, etc. of the future.
>> Yeah, >> that is that is a >> that's a very simple >> very nice.
>> Oh, you mean Scotty?
>> I'm going to promote my merch. I don't know what's wrong with you.
>> This is the Vibes merch. Yeah, it's the Scottus brand. Yeah, man. This allows me to keep putting food on the table and the potential picnic that might bond. I mean, serious, but fun and joke aside, uh my family's motto is luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
>> So, ensure that you keep developing who you are, especially the men. I'm talking to them. I'm talking to everybody, but I'm a man. So, man, try elevate the youth them.
>> Keep elevating yourself because you never know which room you might be in.
You never know when your voice is going to be called in those rooms. to ensure that you keep fine-tuning your skills, your talents, your speech patterns, your everything for when an opportunity comes because you don't want when Bill Gates walk into somewhere to hire somebody and >> you're wearing cut off pants and tail shoes and a shirt and whatever. No, you're cut off foot and meat.
>> We're not talking about you.
>> You know what I mean?
>> Well, guys, look is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Also follow on Instagram. I'm trying to get to 10K by April. Also buy shirts. Yeah, man. Put the food on the table.
>> Come on.
>> I love you guys. Big man team.
>> Youths proud owner. Keep doing good work and just kind of stick to it. Stick to itivity. That's that's another thing for my family.
>> Nice.
>> Cheaper than that.
>> I know a lie.
>> I have no idea what those brands were. I ain't going.
>> Trust me, you know.
>> On that note, fun and joke aside, Scottus the mani man. Big up for forwarding.
>> That is it.
>> We're gone. Remember, drink up the dears. Like, comment, share, subscribe.
It's good. Boom. Money.
Money. Money. Money.
