Thermobaric weapons, such as Russia's TOS-1A Solntsepyok and TOS-2 Tosochka systems, work by releasing aerosolized fuel clouds that penetrate fortified positions and ignite, creating extreme temperatures and partial vacuums that cause instant death through oxygen deprivation and internal trauma, making them particularly effective against underground shelters and bunkers that conventional artillery cannot destroy.

Russia Intensifies Deployment of Advanced Thermobaric Weapons in Ukraine!Added:
The emergence of the new dragon, the toast 3 dragon on Moscow's weapons horizon is not a sign of retirement for its legendary predecessors. On the contrary, it reaffirms that Russia still holds the top position in thermmoaric weapons technology worldwide. While global attention is focused on the sophistication of the dragon, the veteran towok continues to bear its fangs, proving itself to be one of the most feared lifetakers on the Ukrainian battlefield.
Recently, in the Cherivinoi district of the Zaparisia region, the world was once again presented with a horrifying yet astonishing scene of how Ukrainian military assets worth millions of dollars were reduced to charred debris in mere seconds. So what exactly are the roles and capabilities of these systems on the battlefield today? Let's dive deeper.
A TOS 1A Sapio unit from the 35th Guards Regiment of Russia's 35th Combined Arms Army moved in deadly silence. Their target was locked, a series of long-term defensive bunkers belonging to formations of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Cherivinoi district. These bunkers were built with reinforced concrete designed to withstand conventional artillery strikes, but they were never meant to endure temperatures reaching thousands of degrees C delivered by the Sonap. When the firing order was given, the roar of 220 mm rockets tore through the air. In an instant, Sharivoi was transformed into an apocalyptic scene.
Aerial footage showed a series of massive explosions that not only destroyed structures, but also consumed all the oxygen in the area. Bunkers once considered the safest shelters were instantly turned into giant ovens. There was no chance of survival for anyone inside.
Not long before this, the Vastto unit carried out a similar strike, obliterating Ukrainian defensive fortifications that had been reinforced for months in the Zaparisia region. The destructive power of the toss 1A ensured that anything within the impact zone was not just neutralized but effectively erased from the map.
This devastating effectiveness continued in the settlement of Kamsolk. There to 1A units from the 35th NBC protection regiment operating under elite Russian military command carried out their crucial role in supporting assault units. They worked with surgical precision, clearing out Ukrainian positions that attempted to slow the advance of Russian infantry.
The coordination between NBC units and assault forces created an unstoppable symphony of destruction, causing enemy defensive lines to collapse like a house of cards.
Why is the TOS 1A so feared even more than conventional heavy artillery?
The answer lies in its thermmoaric warhead. When a rocket lands, it releases a cloud of aerosolized liquid fuel over the target area. This cloud seeps into every gap, penetrating bunkers, trenches, shelters, and even the ventilation systems of armored vehicles. A few milliseconds later, a secondary charge ignites the cloud.
The result is a massive fireball with extreme temperatures and a shock wave that lasts far longer than that of conventional explosives.
The blast creates a partial vacuum that draws oxygen out of the lungs of anyone within its radius, causing instant death through severe internal trauma.
Against the toast 1A, there is effectively no such thing as hiding.
Even concrete or steel cannot protect against these drastic atmospheric pressure changes. This is what renders targets in Zaparisia completely incapacitated. They are not merely struck by explosions but systematically eliminated.
The success of such strikes is not accidental but the result of highlevel coordination. Russian forces employ a combination of Orland 10 and Zala reconnaissance drones that operate at high altitudes often undetected. These drones transmit realtime coordinate data to command centers. Once a target is verified, the information is sent directly to the TOS 1A ballistic computer. It takes less than 90 seconds for the crew to halt, aim, unleash a barrage, and quickly leave the area using shoot and scoot tactics before the enemy even realizes what has hit them.
If the TUS 1A is the brutal veteran, then the TUS 2 Tuskka is the more refined modern killer, yet far more dangerous. Unlike its predecessor which uses the heavy and slow T72 tank chassis, the TUS 2 is built on the Eural 6376A120 6x6 truck chassis. This gives it exceptional mobility on a dynamic battlefield. In the Oraov area of Zaparisia, Tus 2 units from the Deniper group of forces have demonstrated why this upgrade is so critical.
The TUS 2 no longer requires a separate transport loader vehicle as it is equipped with its own onboard crane for reloading rockets.
However, the most significant improvement lies in its range and accuracy. With a fully integrated digital fire control system connected to satellite guidance, the TUS 2 can launch strikes from safer distances well beyond the reach of enemy short-range artillery. In the Oraov sector, Tasaka crews reportedly succeeded in eliminating enemy personnel positions hidden in underground shelters, clearing the way for Russian assault units to capture key positions.
The presence of the Tus 2 is portrayed as ensuring that Russia's technological edge and thermmoaric systems remains unmatched by any Western weapons currently in Ukraine's arsenal.
The recent deployment of both TUS 1A and TUS 2 in Zaparisia sends a clear message to Kev and NATO headquarters in Brussels.
While Ukraine continues to request additional air defense systems from the United Kingdom and other allies, these holy fire weapons continue to tear through the front lines, even the most advanced defense systems may struggle to counter thermobaric projectiles traveling along short but lethal ballistic trajectories.
The question now shifts to the geopolitical stage given the reported effectiveness of these Russian war machines.
Will NATO allies continue pouring resources into what some describe as a black hole called Ukraine?
The United States increasingly complex relationship with the conflict combined with logistical fatigue in Europe places Ukraine in a difficult position. On one hand, there are promises of aid from the United Kingdom. On the other, there is the harsh reality on the battlefield. A level of firepower capable of turning fortified positions into ash in an instant.
What do you think? That's all for today's episode, and thanks for watching.
