This visual record poignantly captures the tension between Victorian architectural elegance and the inevitable decay of neglected history. It serves as a haunting reminder that without active preservation, our cultural heritage remains merely a temporary spectacle for the curious.

ABANDONED 1874 Gothic Victorian house forgotten deep in the woods
Added:What's going on guys? Welcome back to another video. Today I have a really cool location. We are going to be exploring this beautiful abandoned Gothic Revival style Farmhouse.
This place is down a long driveway in the woods.
It's been abandoned for years now.
And this house has some really really nice features.
Like take a look at that uh pointed arched window up there with the beautiful brickwork and gingerbread.
This house definitely displays a very high degree of craftsmanship. It's got a lot of beautiful features.
Look at those nice pointed arched windows.
Beautiful bay window here, too.
Unfortunately, you know, it's all boarded up and smashed up.
And you can see up there the original owner of the house and the date is carved into a stone block. It says Alex Marshall AD 1874.
So this house was built in 1874.
And what's really cool about this one is it's uh still very original from that time when it was built.
This is one of my favorite historic houses in this area.
I like how many pointed arched windows there are. Like it's a very very nice house. Like this would have been a high-end house back in the day.
Like with the brickwork there, you know, how the yellow bricks actually out a little bit.
Obviously, it's a Gothic Revival style home with all the pointed arches and the very steep gables.
Probably my favorite architectural style.
And look at even a little pointed arched window up there.
And then here you have what's what's that called again? That arch where it's pointed but it's not curved like that. I forget. I know there's a name for that.
This place has seen better days for sure.
Like I've already counted 1 2 three points of entry already.
This house, every time I've been here, it's always wide open.
But I've never seen this many openings.
Like usually with this one there's just one opening or something.
Another one. This board's ripped off, too.
Like I I've never seen it like this. So they obviously haven't been checking on this house.
Probably another one. Yep.
Like they're just ripping boards off for fun.
Like that's that's unbelievable.
I've never seen this house like that, guys.
Never seen it like this.
That's crazy.
Here's the other side, really nice gingerbread or bargeboard up there.
Just a absolutely gorgeous exterior on this one.
I guess we'll just go in the door that's open. No need to climb in through a window, but that that's just crazy how like everything's just open. This one's never like that. It's usually one small window where you got to squeeze in or something.
So this could be in bad shape.
It's kind of what I'm worried about.
Like looks like they took an ax and just smashed this apart.
All right, let's make our way inside.
Oh my gosh.
Oh, this is in way worse shape.
Somebody's made like a weapon here.
They've put a duct taped uh like garden rake kind of thing and put all that wire around it. Yeah, this wasn't this bad. This has really been smashed. Oh my gosh, all the walls are smashed.
Now, I hope once we get to the front area where all the nice historic features are, I hope it's a little bit more intact up there.
I promise you guys, this is a really good house. Back here isn't as interesting, but once we get to the front area, it's really really nice.
So here's your kitchen area, pretty smashed up.
Every time I come to this house it gets worse.
Like the wall is pretty well gone there.
It's just open windows everywhere.
Never seen this house like that.
Oh yeah, there's already more graffiti.
Let's check out the uh bathroom here.
Yeah, this whole tile wall is smashed down. That was that was not like that, but this house is cool. Like I remember doing this one years ago and the whole bathroom here was intact cuz it had that cool turquoise toilet, turquoise tub, and then the sink also matched it.
And then I think the mirror was intact.
Yeah, you can see the glass. I remember how cool this was.
The old curtain.
I mean I've been to this house many times over the years. Like I said, even though it's so getting so destroyed, it's still a really good one.
Okay, I'm glad to see this is similar to how it was.
Guys, take a look at this plaster medallion. This is one of the one of my favorite features in here. The fan kind of ruins it. Like if somebody was going to wreck something, hopefully they pull the fan down.
Cuz look at how nice that is.
Absolutely gorgeous. It's even painted with like the details of the flowers and stuff.
Which I don't know if that's original.
Like I know the medallion's original. I don't know about the paint.
But that's just unbelievable. That's so nice. You don't see that too often in these farmhouses with that degree of of detail.
This is beautiful.
This room has always been one of my favorites. I have so many shots in this room over the years.
Um with these beautiful old original windows and just the decay in here is beautiful.
All the peeling paint. I don't know what's going on here. Like this wasn't all smashed.
That's too bad, but I've always really liked this room.
>> [snorts] >> Like the state of decay in here is really really cool. It's kind of sad to see a historic house in this kind of shape, but the decay is kind of pretty. I like it.
Kind of eerie, too, well.
So here's your main staircase. That's about the same.
There's more stuff thrown down it.
Oh, the newel post is gone.
That was always the one part left of the staircase with the newel post.
And I don't see it. So maybe somebody took it.
Here's that medallion there in the hallway.
Again, that's a nice one. You can see it was painted as well, although it's all flaking off now.
And then this front door would have been beautiful, too. Looks like it had two kind of arches, but of course it's been smashed by the uh the vandals.
Really sucks. I hate I really hate people that vandalize these places.
And you can actually see one of the arches from the door.
Like the molding.
Actually looks like yeah, one of them's still on there.
So this would have been so beautiful back in the day with that banister still intact.
I want to know where the newel post went. That was always right there. It's like the last kind of remaining piece.
That was always there.
It's either going to be somewhere in here or somebody took it.
Yeah, and again, this room beautiful medallion.
Like where do you see that, guys? That's amazing. Like in in a farmhouse like this, it's so unusual to see something with that detail and stuff.
I've always liked this room, too. The blue room with the bay window. You know, you can get that shot with the medallion and the windows.
I got lots of pictures of this place on my Instagram. I think I posted it a few times, so if you guys want to see my pictures, make sure you go follow me on there.
Here's the bay window.
Really nice woodwork all around that.
Now, this is usually all boarded up here.
Uh there's never light coming in here.
This window is open as well.
Oh, that was never like that. The trim on either side there is gone.
Uh it's sad seeing like a house you really like just get worse and worse.
It's too bad, but it's just how it goes.
Like, you know, you just have a boarded-up house down a long driveway.
Like, not no security measures really. It's just going to get trashed.
That's how it goes.
Some of the molding probably from the doors.
That's from the staircase. Like, I don't know how that made it over here.
Yeah, this piece of trim here is ripped off, too.
Like, it's very nice trim.
Very, very nice trim.
Oh, look at that up there.
That's not even wallpaper. That's actually painted, so that could very well be original.
That That could be original, for sure.
Looks like it's actually painted onto the wall.
There's the basement. Oh, jeez.
Somebody threw a door halfway down.
It's not even the door for the basement, cuz that door is still there, or it's a little bit of it.
Yeah, this just makes me angry, guys.
Like, why are people just coming in and just destroying everything in such a nice old house?
Like, now there's like steps missing.
It's like dangerous to go upstairs now.
Like, look at that. That's broken.
It's all this porcelain. Like, they're throwing toilets down the stairs.
I would have loved to have seen this with the banister, but that's been gone for a while. Usually the first thing to get smashed in these old houses is like the wood doors, like you see here, and the banister.
Oh, this board is ripped off now.
You got Scooby-Doo there.
Nice pointed arched window. I can actually see another abandoned house.
One All the houses on this street are pretty much abandoned there. They want to put a huge industrial park here.
That's why all these are abandoned. They're owned by a huge corporation that just wants to tear all these historic houses down and put a a huge industrial park. I've seen the plans for it. It's It's It's got all sorts of streets through it and big commercial buildings, factories, everything.
Elephant there, of course somebody had to smash it.
It looks like a rhino on the door there. That's cool.
Closet here.
>> [snorts] >> Yeah, that door got all its panels smashed out.
Yeah, this is a big washroom.
Which has seen better days.
Everything's I think is pretty much been thrown down the stairs.
Has this [snorts] cool painting on the wall.
Bath.
Bathtub is gone, probably thrown down the stairs or something. I don't know.
All the historic lath and plaster smashed. It makes me more mad in these historic houses when they get trashed.
Like, if this was like a house from like the '60s or something, like, whatever, it still sucks, but who cares? Like, when it's a house like this, it really sucks because these places can never be replaced once they're destroyed. Like, and maybe if this house was kept in really good condition, it would be restored instead of demolished. Just maybe.
But, I'm pretty sure the demolition permit is already approved for these.
Huh.
So, they're putting their ads on there.
Interesting.
Oh, if that's whoever destroyed this, probably is.
Looks like something else is painted there.
Might have been chalkboard paint or something. Everywhere where something's painted, they smashed it on purpose.
Losers.
Like, this is dangerous now with no banister, too. Got to be careful near that.
Oh, that wall is gone now.
Like, there's so many boards ripped off now.
It's unbelievable. I've never seen this house like this.
Here's the back section. Wow.
Ceiling's gone. Like, this area is in bad shape. I mean, it looks like the original lath and plaster was removed and it was replaced with sheetrock, so that probably explains why.
Oh, look at the colors in this room.
Very colorful. This board is ripped off, too.
This room is not in that bad of shape.
No graffiti.
Somehow.
Okay, we'll go down the main staircase.
I guess we'll try to check out the basement. Looks like somebody threw a door like halfway down. It's wedged in there.
So, I don't know if we can even get down there.
I want to know where that uh newel post went.
Cuz if you look at any of my old pictures or videos of this place, there's always the original newel post right there. I think somebody just stole it.
Pieces of doors everywhere.
All right. Um I think we can get around that.
Let's see.
I don't even know where this door came from.
Yeah, we can step down right here beside it.
Yeah, so this house has a nice basement, nice field stone foundation, or maybe limestone.
Light fixture made it down here.
Pieces of doors.
It's way colder down here in the basement than upstairs.
Really holds the the cooler temperatures.
Yeah, it's pretty empty down here.
There's no graffiti down here, so I guess the uh the spray paint guys are too scared to go in the basement.
Looks like a doorway there was blocked off. May have been an exterior entrance or something.
Looks like somebody tried to fix these cracks with spray foam at some point.
And yeah, I think that's it for this basement. I remember this having a pretty small, plain basement.
All right, let's head back upstairs.
Ah, kind of tricky getting around that door.
All right.
Yeah, I think that's going to wrap it up for this one guys. Hope you enjoyed this video.
I definitely I always like coming to this house but it makes me sad to see it just get more and more destroyed over the years.
So yeah, hope you guys enjoyed this video.
Be sure to like, share, and subscribe.
Let me know what you think and I will catch you guys on the next adventure.
Thanks for watching.
