Reducing this raw human tragedy to a clinical "educational case" ignores the systemic failures and the lasting trauma inflicted on the children. It is a grim testament to a society where violence is the only remaining tool for self-preservation.

No, Paul would make Well, Paul would be telling units it's to 23 units override.
Paul, see you good thing with went out with is for real. Oh, I don't know. How do we know that?
So, what's 100 Northeast 9th?
We're at 100 Northeast 9th.
100 Northeast 9th. So, they're possibly in a Uber that picked her up.
Obviously, we cleared the exterior of the insides of the building. Yeah, I was telling Andy like she could have gone in any apartment.
>> They don't have to be.
Bro, just a white [ __ ] something.
Come on.
Um In reference to how many units we got an update on the white Hyundai. What I'm doing is I'm going to use the wind to my advantage / clear the open areas cuz this is all side of the seven blocks The last curfew should be around a railroad at night by now.
Railroad at night?
What do you want to go there for?
You want to go with the K9? I'll go with Matt, man.
What was that all about?
All right, raise your right hand for me.
Do you swear or affirm that you solemnly swear to tell the truth? Yes. Okay, you can put your hand down. State your first and last name.
Justine Guerra. Okay, your date of birth?
Can you just tell me how this all started tonight? So, um I was watching the baby boy that she has. He had a blue switch suit.
Um and we were just playing and then he fell asleep.
And then I ended up um she ended up the one who shot Justice, I guess.
Shot the um the girl the one who shot the girl. We um she put his clothes on cuz he was like I guess he got caught, so she put his clothes on and she told me, "Oh, I won't play with these hoes."
Justice put the kids' clothes on?
Okay, so she puts the clothes on and then >> No, her son. Um, her son.
So, um um that they got stuck on the I-95. Mhm.
And then Jimmy and them, they're coming back. Right. So, they came back.
And then I mean, that's about it. Like, the whole That's when the whole fight started.
Like, they started swinging and stuff and Jimmy didn't let me go in cuz I was going to tell them stop, but >> Who Who Who is Justice to the the person that got shot? What's their relationship? I don't know. Are Are they siblings? Are they friends?
>> that that was his nieces and nephews.
Okay.
So, the victim is related to Justice?
Or not? No, they're best friends, I think. That's what That's what my boyfriend said. Jimmy is my boyfriend.
Okay. So, just take me take me through like what happened here. So, Okay, so they they fought and they and then that's when the gunshot >> What What was the the victim doing? What did the kid What was the victim watching the kid? Or anything like that? She came downstairs with him. Like, she dragged him and like came downstairs with him after the shot was interfered.
Um Like, after the shot was like >> No, I'm saying prior to any of this happening, what was >> No, they was like in a bowling alley like getting drunk and stuff.
The victim was? Yeah, I was With Justice?
Yes. Okay, so they were hanging out together or to the incident happening?
>> Yes, that's why we was we was watching the kids.
>> And you guys were watching the kid? Yes, me and Jimmy.
>> Okay. Was it just the one kid? It was two kids. It was a kid that was uh sleeping which is Shake kid and then there was her baby boy. Two boys. So, one is Justice's kid and one is the victim's kid?
>> Yeah, they they just picked them up. The grandma just or the grandpa just picked them up. Okay, so there's was kids there. So, they're both out bowling, drinking, whatever they're doing and then they come back here and then what what causes the argument? I have no idea. That's how it started.
>> Were they were they arguing in the apartment? Inside the apartment? Were they arguing at each other? Yes, she was already like the one who I was watching the kids from, she was already raising her voice so I Was it Justice or the victim?
Who was it?
>> That was Justice and the victim. Okay, so they're both yelling at this point?
Yeah, like they're fighting but they're arguing. I just don't know what it was about because like I said me and the kids fell asleep.
>> But at that point um when they're yelling at each other is that only verbal at that time? Yes. Okay.
So it was verbal at the time. They're yelling inside the apartment at each other and then after And then they start fighting. You could see the wig on the floor. Okay, so it turned into a physical altercation. And did you witness that at all? The physical altercation? I did. Okay.
>> [snorts] >> Did you did you see who started the punching or anything like that?
No. It all happened too fast so I couldn't like tell who it was or what.
>> Now at the time you witnessed them fighting each other, did you see Justice pull out a gun at all? No. No?
But she did like I said she did a slide out of a Glock 30 and stuff like that.
And so she said that she has a Glock 30.
Mhm.
Did she say where it was at? No. I didn't even know it was on her waist or nothing but you know what she was telling me like that goes on the waist.
Okay.
So she said it was on her waist. Did you see the shot go off?
No. I I was under the couch.
>> But you heard it? I guess yes. A pop.
Just just one? Just one.
So you heard the one pop and then what happens after?
And then you see Justice with the victim. So the the victim and she's bleeding out and I didn't believe she was bleeding out so I put pressure on her arm. Mhm.
Like in then I was trying to make a conscious like I'm going to get into my BSN degree. Mhm. So, I know like the medical terms and stuff like what to do with people and stuff.
So, um We appreciate you doing that, too. We appreciate you telling us, too.
Yeah, so like I'm over here waking her up. I'm putting a rag on her face. Mhm.
And you know, she was conscious. Mhm. I was like, "I'm right here. I'm right here. Just stay awake. Stay awake." But she was bleeding out like all on her arm. So, she was shot in the left arm? I believe So, she was shot in the left arm?
Did this happen in the hallway where she gets shot? Yeah, you can see the blood all over the door and all the walls. It was right in front of the front door.
Yeah, cuz the Caesar's apartment is further over this way, so Okay.
So, she Was she Was the victim like in the doorway when this happened? Yes.
Okay. Is that where you found her? It was in the doorway? Um they started fighting and I guess she closed the tried to close the door, but she popped her. Like right The victim tried to close the door? Yes. Okay. I believe.
Okay. So.
What What did Justice do after after the shooting? She ran with her baby and she went downstairs somewhere. Was she screaming or anything after the shot?
No. Okay.
Okay, did you see the victim at all with any weapons? No. No, I didn't think there was weapons on her. And what's your relationship to the victim?
Nobody is related. Just my boyfriend's friends. Okay. That's it. Okay.
And you were just >> visiting her and her company. No, you guys were just babysitting? I live in Lake Worth. Okay, were you guys strictly just babysitting? Yes. Okay, so he doesn't stay here, either? No. He stays in Delray.
Okay.
So, we just came to watch the babies.
He said they was his nieces and nephews, but I don't know if that's true, but I see.
Okay.
I might have going follow up with you in in a bit, but um just in case you have any more questions. Okay, it's fine. Um just raise your right hand for me now.
Do you swear or affirm that you will just give us the truth? I swear. Okay.
I'll go I'll go talk to her real quick, okay? Okay.
All right, Jimmy, raise your right hand for me.
Do you swear or affirm that you're about to give us the truth?
Okay, you can put your hand down. Your first and last name, please? Jimmy Curci us. Okay.
We're here today because of a shooting.
Um can you take me step-by-step [clears throat] of what happened and start with prior to the incident? Um after the incident, came in there was a little fire.
They offered me to babysit today.
That That last night.
Came in, one of the kids was still asleep, one of the kids was still up.
And after that, I was just on the couch just making sure everything's okay.
Everything was nice and smooth, and then let's say at least 2 hours afterwards, I got a call from the victim that got shot.
Saying, "Hey, I need your help.
Can you come and help me, you know, pick me up from Walmart? The car that I was in ran out of gas." So, she needed me to pick her up and go to the gas station to go get the gas and go put gas in the vehicle.
I don't know what to make of all of him, but and then I got another call from the person I shot with him.
Saying, "Hey, I'm on my way. I had a boyfriend or one of her friends picked me up on the side of the road on Walmart on the 95. Picked me up for me and my kid. I'm like, 'Hey, what's going on?'"
She's like, "Hey, the one that got shot, I guess her ex said something that she should talk to told her, 'Hey, he's outside the apartment. He has a firearm himself.' And I guess he's the person that he's talking to, he's coming up to the her apartment. Mhm. So um So I got that part. I said, "Okay, he's coming up to the apartment." And then he said there's police coming. Da da da da there's police coming. Mhm. I'm like, "Oh, you hear no sirens or I don't know if the guy's outside now." Um so and you know, the woman that shot her called me back. He said, "Hey, uh I fear for my son. The guy's talking crazy so I'm coming here to grab my son and that's it." Okay, so I went to go grab the guy. Mhm. I said, "Hey, what's going on?" She's just like um you know, her friend is her best friend is like, you know, he's trying her or what they say now. Her best friend is trying her. Her best friend says you know, going crazy or she explained like what she meant by trying her? It's just a old old friend I used to mess around with. He said that he's outside of his apartment. He have a gun. He's coming upstairs. And she said, "No, don't come upstairs." You know, you have people babysitting and she don't know why her friend is flipping out. Mhm.
>> [clears throat] >> Um because now her friend don't feel like her her kids are safe, you know. So she's like, "I'm going to go." So as soon as I got here parked outside. I think my car's still running. And I said, "Hey, whatever we do, please don't fight." She's like, "I'm going to grab my kid." And that's it. She's like, "No, man, I'm fighting I'm going to fight him." I said, "For what?" Mhm. I'm just so confused. Like for what? You guys fighting over a guy or you guys know this guy? Who you guys fighting over?
Mhm. As soon as she get in And that's the victim saying that? That she's going to fight her? Yes, she's going to fight him. I'm like, "For what?"
You know, I'm like, "No, you guys my my son's in there as well or something there as well. Like they're safe.
Nobody's coming to take Nobody have You don't really have a key to get in unless you're owner." Mhm. You need a key to get in. You know what I'm saying? So I'll see what the owner say. So as soon as I get here the the the the shooter was already inside. She already got in. She was on the couch grabbing her son, grabbing everything. So I was like I was I stood right by the door.
Mhm. I said, "Hey, you know, I see you guys are talking crazy. Please just you know, let's go. Make it easy. Go for them. I guess I'm done babysitting."
Mhm. No.
The victim kept on talking back and forth with her. And then I forgot who did first.
Did with hit her first or who hit each other I really forgot who hit each other first. I forgot.
But, I I thought the way I seen the firearm here, I was like, "Oh, no." So, I backed up. I'm not I'm not going to fight with no firearm on me.
I have a lot to live for as well, you know? I stay far away. And then, they was going back and forth, and then I heard the door close and [ __ ] Came back inside and just heard a boom. I was like, hit the floor. Okay. You know?
I ran, called 911, put pressure on her.
And then, stayed there until the cops came in. Mhm. And did you record the incident? I I did. Okay. I did.
Do you Do you have it with you right now? Can I see it? Mhm.
And then, after that, I put the pressure on her.
[clears throat] I was on the phone with the ambulance.
Mhm.
And I don't know what she said. So, they actually got her out, all right? Mhm.
>> [clears throat] >> The cops was down there and stuff.
And who is that? That's the shooter.
Okay. That's her son. And what's the shooter's name? Justice Johnson.
I'm like, come on, ref. Let's go.
I'm like, you guys don't have to fight tonight.
Cuz that's where it really started.
Who's screaming now? I ain't going nowhere.
Okay.
And she was like, come outside and fight. Come outside and fight.
And oh.
Yep. Please don't shoot me.
So, it looks like she threw the first punch to her or something.
So, she fell and hit her head.
And she re-engages. I just saw the firearm. I'm like, I'm not going to go through that.
I was telling her, "Hey, that's That's firearm. Put it away." And then, boom.
And I'm like, then I'm going to call the ambulance. Hit the floor.
You got hit?
Yes.
of myself.
So once you leave or once the shot goes off, what what happened with Justice?
Did Did you hear her say anything after that? Did she just run? I just heard her brother's. I didn't see her or anything.
Just ran.
I [clears throat] looked on my hand and I looked on my phone and looked at I hurried up to the passenger on the phone to the ambulance. I wanted to dial 911 so by the time I looked I had no where she went. Okay.
>> [clears throat] >> I'm not having any officers or maybe I can do it to send you a link where it goes straight into our evidence. Mhm. Um just so we can get the video, okay? One of the officers should have sent it to your phone. I'll do this in a link right away. Yeah. Oh, you didn't send the link? I sent it to this number here.
Okay. I sent it to one of the officers.
All right, is there anything else you think I'm missing? That's pretty much everything. Everything went So when she was outside the the kid in the blue was working Justice's kid. Justice's kid, yeah. Okay.
Is there anything else you think I'm missing?
Nothing I can tell you. Okay. This is wearing you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth? Yes, I do. I appreciate it.

>> Yeah, I was supposed to start this week.
15 Okay.
That's pretty cool. Um So you came in. Yeah. What do you want to tell us? So um do you want to start to finish? So basically um we were out at a bowling alley after with a couple of friends or what not. After that I get a phone call from Lashay's current boyfriend. Um he was basically saying that he had a firearm on him and he was trying to get in the in the house. So me I'm was in fear of my life and my child's life. My son was there Start of my son was there. A guy named Jimmy, which is Shay's ex-boyfriend, he um said that he was going to watch the our little boys for us while we go to the bowling alley. So, he did that um after that or whatnot, I don't know what transpired between Shay and her current boyfriend, but he wasn't there at the time. So, he didn't know another guy was there. So, after that, he's calling my phone on Instagram and his name is Butter. They call it I I don't know his real name, I just know him from Butter.
Okay. So, um he he was like that he has a gun on him.
He's going to get in the house one way or another. I was telling my Shay, I'm like, my son is there and then your ex-boyfriend is there. That's not going to be good. We have to go. As I'm speeding to get home, the car cuts off the um what's in her house or whatever, the car cut off there cuz there was no gas. I didn't pay attention. So, I literally walked. I also took my firearm from but my purse was very small or whatnot, so I concealed it on my waist.
And I was walking so I'm by myself. I'm just in fear. I'm trying to get to my kid for his safety. So, um as I get to where we were, some girl pick me up. She seen me walking, she gave me a ride to the residence or whatnot. My friend who does my hair, she does my hair downstairs. I knocked on the door. I mean, her window, she let me in.
>> [clears throat] >> I go upstairs and I get my son and I'm I like I knocked on the door, it's not even the guy Jimmy who we left the kids with, it's some girl. I don't know her name. It's some girl or whatnot. Mind you, I was calling Jimmy, his phone was going straight to uh voicemail. His phone probably was on do not disturb. To warn him and let him know the guy Butter is trying to go come over there. You get what I'm saying? But, there I cannot get in touch with him at all. So, that's why I was in fear. Um my mind's everywhere and I didn't been in a situation in the past with like that and she you know, if you don't go through things, you don't have a sense of urgency for it. So, I get upstairs or whatever, I see my son, he's laying on the couch. Um I'm putting on his clothes. I don't even know why he was naked for one, but you know, I asked him cuz she like, are you okay? Nobody touch you? None of that. Next thing you know, as I'm putting on his clothes, Shay bust in bust in the door all going crazy talking about her boyfriend will never hurt. And I said, you don't know that. And her son is autistic. And I was like, neither can he defend himself and the person who's supposed to be watching our kids is not watching it. It's a girl that I guess that Jimmy knows. Jimmy wasn't there. So, Jimmy comes in with Shay. Well, when I see she's freaking, I'm scared for my life. She's going crazy and I know I'm in her house. So, as I'm trying to get out with my son, she stated like we're we're um going back and forth verbally. Then she hit me. So, we get into an altercation.
After she fell or what not, I left her down trying to pick up my phone and my son's tablet. Mind you, my son is with me, but I told him to run before I seen it escalating. I then told him, "Run.
Just go." Shay sees me going out the door and she put her hands on me. We got in an altercation. I picked up the um tablet and the phone. As I'm doing that, I'm not even knowing she's charging at me. I don't know what she has in her hand, nothing like that. I'm in fear.
And she just start hitting me. After that, I draw. She wouldn't stop pounding me in my head and I just draw my gun and I shot one time. And yes, I did. I ran with my kid. He he was terrified. He was scared and crying. And he asked me, "Get up. Get up. Bleeding gun." And I tossed that. I shouldn't have did that, but I was so scared. I just wanted to get into safety. I was scared. I'm still just shaking. My baby's traumatized and I just wanted to get him home. And I took him to his grandmother's house. I went on foot and my aunt came and got me. And I didn't tell her much and she I just told her I needed her to come get me.
And I took him to his um grandma and his father. And after that, I went home and I wanted to wait to talk to Mark Steiner, my lawyer, and to make sure that everything like cuz I'm in trouble.
And he told me like I thought talking to him and he's like, "The best thing to do is go to the police." And then I tried to go get the um firearm, but I know it's 6:00 It was like 6:00 in the morning. The lady I know she's like, "It's a black girl coming to the door.
She's not She's like, 'Whatever's back there is going to stay back there.'" So, then I tried the um Marcus like, "Try to go retrieve it." I contacted them cuz like for mutual parties and they said that you guys all picked it up or what not. So, I I don't know if that's true or or not cuz I tried to go retrieve it cuz I know how it looks and everything, but I was just in fear. She's attacking, coming at me. I don't know what she has.
I have my son. And like me and her are real good friends. It should never got that far, but she didn't understand the principle. You have your ex-boyfriend here. Your current boyfriend says that he has a gun. I was in the messages. He says he has a gun on him. He's going to get into the house one way or another. I tried to call Jimmy. Jimmy's not answering phone. And then I see he's not even there. He comes I guess Shay might have called him.
And he was out. The girl who said that I was speaking with the girl there and she was like that Jimmy been left. He like he left out or whatever left her there with the kids. I don't know this girl.
I just thank God that my son is okay.
Like I said, her son is autistic and I was just trying to get her to understand. Listen, your son is autistic. My son You get what I'm saying? He's sleeping. He doesn't know.
We don't know this girl. Jimmy was supposed to be watching them. And like when Jimmy came in the house, all I told Jimmy I said, "Jimmy, do me a favor. I said, next time you can't watch our kids, say that. If it's not you watching them, you left them there to go do whatever you wanted to do. You could have just called us. We would have came home." But she was so But he would never hurt cuz I was walking and she got mad that I walked and left the car. The car has no gas in it. I got to get my kid.
And she was mad about it. She's like, "But he would never do." I don't know where his mental at. He takes my phone saying he had a firearm. He's going to get in the house one way or another. I'm trying to go get my kid. That That was all. And she come rushing at me. You don't know what she have. When she fell, I'm just trying to get my baby's tablet and my phone so we can go. I couldn't leave my phone. All right. And that was that. All right.
So, let's go back over it just so I can make sure I understand it. We're using names people, okay? [clears throat] So, you and Lashay Yeah.
>> meet at her house? Yes, we meet at her house. Okay.
You agree to leave your kids there with >> Jimmy.
>> Jimmy.
You leave to go bowling?
>> Yeah, we went bowling to Strike Ten.
Okay.
Just you two? No, me, her, and my sister was downstairs. That's where my sister was my friend, but her name is Keisha.
Okay.
>> all three of us. So, you leave there.
You left there because of what? We left the bowling alley to go home. Okay. So, it At point the car breaks down?
>> Yeah, cuz there's no gas and I'm not paying attention. Okay. Where does Lashay go when the car breaks down? She stays in the I left her and my sister in the car. They didn't have no urgency.
>> then? I started walking on 95.
>> Okay. And then you said somebody picked you up?
>> Yeah, someone She told me her name was Samantha. You don't know her? I don't know her. I was worried about getting in the car with her, but I'm like >> She just offered to buy you a drink.
>> She was like, "You're a girl walking."
She was like, "I promise I'm not hurting you. I'll just take you where you have to go." And I She took me there. Okay.
You go back to the apartment. Yeah, to the apartment where my son was. And then while you're going back to the apartment, you get these messages from Butter. Right. No, before the before everything, before we even left. We were hanging out. Yeah, before we even left, Butter started sending those messages. I don't know if Shay exchanged words with him, but he called my phone cuz he knows that she's with me.
So, you were concerned when you had to go back to the house.
>> Cuz I knew the ex-boyfriend was there and then you a guy comes there and see another guy there.
So, you leave, you get this ride, you get back to the apartment.
And then you find your son's there with another female.
>> Correct.
He's okay. He's okay. He's in >> There's nobody else in the apartment. Uh her son. I guess he was in the room though. He wasn't out with the visitor.
>> Okay.
Then a short time later I'm getting my son dressed, putting on his clothes.
>> And who comes back?
>> Shay and Jimmy walk through the door.
They came through the door together.
>> Together, busted in. Okay.
And then you That's when you guys start having a verbal >> Yeah, and I was calm. I was just telling Jimmy I said, "Jimmy, do me a favor.
Next time you can't keep our kids, call us and let us know that we'll come get them. Don't just leave them here with this girl, even though she was saying she has kids and all that. I don't care.
I was like, "We left him in your hands.
You get what I'm saying?" And then she went to saying what her current boyfriend wouldn't do and and all that.
And he was calling my phone after the fact. I heard him on the phone saying, "Justice, I wouldn't hurt the kids."
Yeah, but there's another dude there.
And my I'm in fear for my life and and everything's going on. I don't know. All you're saying is you have a firearm. I know there's another guy there. But when you get back to the apartment yourself, who are the people there? are >> Are the girl and my son and then Shay's son. I didn't see him but I know he was in the room sleeping but >> And then Lashay comes back with Jenny who was who was originally left the baby.
>> Correct. Okay.
You and Lashay start into a verbal argument over Just just the situation.
Okay.
Um and then turns physical. You guys start hitting each other, fighting with each other.
Right. She hit me. I was walking out the door. I was talking to her and then I was like using hand gestures and then she hit me. Okay. And then we start tussling after that. She fell. I went out the um like I was really out the door grabbing I was just grabbing my phone and my son's tablet. I'm looking down. She just come charging at me. I don't know what she has. It's her house.
I'm scared. I don't know. She just keep She won't stop hitting me. Mhm. And that's [clears throat] when I pulled from my my firearm.
Where did the gun come from originally?
It was on my bed on my Okay, but I mean you if you left walking on Did you take it from the car?
>> the car of course. It was in the car.
I had a rental car. Okay.
And you had the gun Yeah, and concealed.
Okay. I have my concealed weapon license as well. Okay.
So when you guys are arguing, did Lashay have a gun? Did you see her with a gun?
>> a gun. Okay.
Um you're outside arguing, fighting. Yeah, and she I don't know what she got. I'm not paying no attention. Okay.
And then you you shot her.
Right. No, I didn't shoot her. Well, yeah, after we were um fighting I don't know if I shot her or not. That's the thing. I just >> you mean? I just pulled my firearm and I just I just fired. Fired where? I just aimed. I just aimed at >> you aiming at though?
I was trying to just back her off me.
I'm in danger. [clears throat] I'm scared for my life. Great bodily harm like she's I don't know if she's coming at me. I don't know what she has.
She won't stop hitting me. Okay. And she knows my son there even in the She's screaming, "You have your son I have my son." I I'm in fear for my life. He's screaming. I don't know what to do.
You're charging at me. This is your house. I was trying to get out and even in the if you could hear me saying, "I know you're not going to do I'm in your house, you want me in here. You're trying to attack me. You are attention on attacking me. Even my sister said the whole time when I left the car, she's like, when I get there, I'm going to do this to Justice, I'm going to do that. I didn't know about this until today that she was saying that. That's why she came in so hostile and how she did.
I don't like I don't know she was attacking me. But I just know my my child is with me. Okay.
What kind of gun was it? I have a G2 Taurus. Okay.
So, you drew your firearm and I drew my firearm and I shot. Okay.
[clears throat] But like can you give me a direction where were you shooting? Just like towards her. Okay. And where was she?
She was on top of me hitting me in my head. Okay.
Where where did that happen at? It happened at her apartment. That was in the What apartment was it? In the hallway?
>> was in the hallway. Okay. And there's a camera. I seen the door camera across I don't know if there is.
Can you explain what do you mean when she was hitting you? How many times did she hit you do you think? When you're in the hallway?
Probably like seven times. Pound pound me in me in my head. Okay. Where were you hit?
Right here.
>> Just here? Okay.
Okay, she's [clears throat] just full on punching you.
>> me in the back and here. She's full on nonstop hitting me. And I'm bending I'm literally bending down. She just come charging at me. I don't know if she grabbed something or anything. So, I'm just in fear for my life and she just >> point are you yelling at her to stop?
>> Yeah, stop it. She wouldn't stop. And I'm thinking she's going to stop after she like fell and stuff. I'm getting my stuff I can leave. She just came charging at me. Were you standing up in the hallway or >> No, I was bending down.
Okay, you were standing >> Bending down to get my things. I'm not paying any attention. I'm bending down.
Is that the point where she's hitting you?
>> Yeah, she comes charging at me. Okay.
Okay, so when you're bending down, that's when she's hitting you in the head. And then from that point, you grab your firearm. Yeah, cuz she wouldn't stop and I remember that I had my firearm.
Okay, where was she at during that time?
She was hitting me. Was she in the hallway? Did you shoot her in the hallway? Was she standing up against the wall or the door?
>> like in in the hallway. We're in the hallway at this point. Okay.
So, she's standing in the hallway. So, if we're looking at her, her door is right here. There's another door she's standing across.
>> No, so say this is her door, her door is right here. I'm bending down. She comes charging at me. So, it's like we're in the hallway, but it's like kind of by her door or whatnot, but like you get what I'm saying? My phone is right here inside of the by the door like Yeah. or whatever. She just come charging at me.
How many times did you shoot? One. One.
That was the first time I ever drew my gun. I just know that I'm in fear for my life. She I don't know what she had or what she was trying to do.
>> after you shot her, what happened? After that, I don't know if I shot her or that's what I'm saying. I just ran.
Well, what makes you say that though?
Because I just I just I don't know. I just ran after that. I was just trying to get away. My son was screaming.
>> to her? I don't know. Okay. I don't know. I I left.
>> her? Did she fall? Did she >> see I just left. I ran. My son was screaming. I'm trying to get to my baby.
I'm trying to get to him. I'm making sure he's okay. I had him She hit me while my son was right there.
>> I understand. I'm just trying to make sure getting my kid. He was crying and screaming to the top of his lungs. He's in fear for his life, too.
Then when we were walking, I'm like, "Junior, he's like, "Mommy, can you please just leave the gun?" And I I did what I what I thought was best.
He killed baby, bro.
So, afterwards, after the incident took place, you went and what did you do with the gun again? I tossed it in the street, for real. Where did you toss it at? Um it was some I remember it was a pink house. Okay. We were walking out and it was a pink house. Who's you and It was just me and my son.
>> Okay.
And I just told him, "Keep walking running. You keep walking." Okay. And I know I was scared. Um it's dark. It's Boyne. This Boyne is dangerous. It's where me and my kid are. I would never leave my gun, but my son was in fear. I was just trying to calm him down. He's a kid.
Did you toss it like in a bush in a Yeah, I tossed it in a bush.
Or in the yard or where was >> Yeah, it was like the the yard, just tossed it. Okay. And then I went back to um retrieve it. I knocked on the lady's door and she's like, "Whatever's back there is going to stay back there." And I'm like, "I'm pretty sure she'll call the police or something." If I show you a photo, would you recognize your gun?
Yes. Okay.
Yes, it's my firearm. Okay.
How How many uh Do you know how many rounds are in there? No, I don't think it's a full clip at all though cuz I had got it cleaned from my instructor and I remember him telling me that I didn't have a lot in there, but I never checked it.
>> [clears throat] >> All right, so you tossed You You tossed the gun and then where'd you go after that? After that, um we just walked all the way to Boynton and then I called my aunt to come pick us up and took him to his grandmother's house. And then I went home and showered and called contacted Mark.
And I waited till I went He told me to come in and talk to him first.
And I talked to him. He was like, "The best thing to do." And I So, I The guy, Jimmy, was recording and he sent it to a friend of ours or what not and that's how the video And what made you toss the gun? Because my son. He was He asked me He said, "Mommy, I'm scared. Can you leave the gun?" Cuz I just He heard the, you know, shell-shocked. He's He's like, "Can you leave it?" He doesn't He seems that he knows that I fired it.
He heard it.
He was screaming. He was >> your son at now? He's at his grandmother. Okay. And that's where Where are you? Riveria.
And you guys put a missing report out.
Um We need to make sure you're safe and you know Yeah, that was That was my main concern.
My baby doesn't He lives a good life. He doesn't I'm still I'm mad that it happened.
So, I'm trying to go back to understand at the door, all right? You're in the physical altercation. You're bending down trying to pick up You said the cell phone and And the tablet. iPad or tablet. Mhm. And Can you like where was she? She from the I seen her fall and that was that. I'm thinking like [clears throat] she's done. Like she fell, I'm just trying to grab it and go. I'm trying to get out of get out of here. I'm trying to go. My son's screaming. I'm trying to go. And like when you >> [snorts] >> pulled the gun up, what did you do after you pulled the gun up? Did you stand up?
Did you When I just went like yeah, I stood up a little bit. Okay, and and then what? And then after that after I fired, I ran. Okay. What what direction were you facing when you you fired? Were you facing towards the >> towards the doorway. Okay. Cuz I remember I remember I was facing like towards the doorway. I I don't remember what I >> Okay.
And was she trying to close the door when you shot? No.
No? Mhm. Did you see her? Did you see where you No, I don't think she was trying to close it. I don't remember. You don't remember? She was hitting me. She wouldn't stop. [clears throat] She kept charging me. I'm bending down, she's hitting me. I'm scared. Like you you came charging at me. I don't know what you just grabbed. I don't know anything.
I'm in fear. You just come charging at me.
From that I don't I don't know. I'm just thinking about my kid.
She hit me while I was walking out the door with my son.
And that's her somebody she calls her nephew. I didn't think she would put her hands on me. I like we could argue all day. Mhm. But I don't I think she was also mad because Jimmy had a girl there, you know? Mhm. And [clears throat] and I think that's what like triggered her and and all that cuz what are you mad at me for? All I'm telling you is we left our kids with Jimmy. That's who was supposed to watch him. And Butta, I'm like you don't understand the situation. Butta calling saying that he I don't know if he said somebody was after him or something. He was like he needs to get in that house now. And he said he has a gun on him.
And so when you left why why didn't you call Because the police? Why didn't you notify the police what happened? I was my I was just traumatized, shocked. I didn't know what to do cuz I never been in trouble before.
I just scared. I was trying to get my baby to safety. I was scared. I didn't know where to go. I just know to keep walking. My son is scared. He's crying.
I just my main concern was, you know, our safety and and everything. And I was trying to calm him down. He never He don't never He didn't even know I had a firearm. I don't like expose that stuff to my kid.
And I feel so bad. I don't like feel like a bad mama. He probably scared of me. He don't even want to see me.
>> [snorts] >> You know, I was trying I was going to come I was going to That's why I contacted my lawyer first. I contacted Mark. Mhm.
>> [clears throat] >> Cuz I didn't know what to do. And I just wanted to make sure and told me he said, "Hey, come in." And then I came in and talked to him. He told me I need to go.
And I was going to come regardless cuz I was like I don't want nobody coming to my house or nothing. It's only me and my son. We don't have no family besides his dad. Uh my mom's dad died going This is me and him. My brother's incarcerated.
I didn't know what to freaking do. I don't get in trouble.
Do you have any marks or injuries?
