She clinicalizes Ren’s raw narrative grit into a series of technical maneuvers, proving that even the most visceral art can be dissected into a textbook. Her analysis is a precise but sterile autopsy of a performance meant to be felt rather than measured.

The Tale of Jenny & Screech by REN | *FIRST* Reaction & AnalysisAdded:
Hello guys, my name is Xeniya, I’m a vocalist and vocal coach, and today we are going back to Ren.
And you wanted me to listen to Jenny and Screech, and I didn't want to do that because I'm freaking terrified because I don't know what to expect and I don't want to cry.
So I hope that it won't be as dramatic, but it probably will be because it's kind of always dramatic with him.
Anyway, pray for me and let's do it.
Okay.
I'm not scared you are.
Let's do it.
We're here in this together.
I need to turn the subtitles on, wait Let's just say a couple of words about his guitar skills.
I mean, that is just beautiful.
And he is so skilled.
Again, I talked about this in “Hi Ren” There was also this beautiful intro, and it reminded me of this classical guitar, you know, because it's different kind of style of playing.
I don't play guitar.
I don't know what I'm saying, but it's just like it's different.
And this is so cool, like, what he's doing, and I also love the production, which is like, there is not much going on, and he's like a one man show, and he's using everything that he has, because he's doing this like, sounds with his mouth, because, I mean, he doesn't have any other instruments.
He has only his own instrument and the guitar, and he needs to do something and he's choosing to do this, and his creativity is just out of this world.
Okay, we are going back because he started somewhere here.
So cool.
Wait So she's, what?
She's dead!
She's dead?
No!
God.
Why is he doing this to us?
Okay.
I needed to listen to the lyrics and now we are going to talk about his voice.
you guys This is wild.
Okay, we're going back.
I love that he has lots of twang and there's also some, like, fry or, like, creaking there, when he's doing He’s not connecting those notes there, he's like jumping in between the notes, and then it's really clear sounding, right?
It's not too dark.
It's not too light.
There's some twang there.
And I loved when he was doing this.
Can you blame something like that?
So on higher notes that was a falsetto, or head voice, and then he went to chest on this.
Can you blame?
It was beautiful.
And “blame”, he holds, with the vibrato there, really fast vibrato, like, hammered, tremolo.
Wow, so beautiful.
And sometimes he sings that, sometimes he just says that and there is this beautiful flow and also his way with the worlds It's so beautifully framed.
So here he was louder.
He was like kind of like the sounding with more shouty, open sound character, and on some vowels like A and I there was lots of twang, but it's just because those vowels really help with the twang, and especially on A, when he says like A like “cat” something with the ”A”, really sharp and light sounding.
if you listen to that, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
In here, liar, his back tongue is raised and it adds more twang, and again on “A” It’s really easy to find the twang on this vowel.
Cool.
So in here, I don't want to lose myself in the lyrics, but in here, when he was talking about the Jenny, he was really quiet, and there was lots of fry there, and he was just like kind of these relaxed type of vocals, and he's just switching between different characters, you can say, and he's so good at that.
This is so captivating, the way he can switch his voice and the way he can make it sound so different.
That is just beautiful.
And also his eyes, right?
He's like, really playing it.
He's like really in the character and he just switching back and forth.
And again, on this part of the song, he was louder again and he had this open sound character.
I don't even want to talk about his vocals because I want to know what happens like.
Again, way more twang So rhythmical.
Turn to butter in a breath.
And again, in here It’s so open and darker and “shouty” completely different sound character than just like a second before.
I love this.
“It's such a shame” Beautiful Okay.
His guitar skills like what?
With some chromatic notes there.
Wow.
Can we talk about this for a minute?
There was a lot going on starting with his guitar skills.
Again, that was so beautiful, like chromatic polyphonic intro.
I mean, I love classical guitar, but his voice, again, lots of twang, and he changes so fast.
It changes first of all depending on the vowels because vowels do dictate the sound character and the sound color and how much twang we have and all of that.
And I loved when he was doing something with the “where” It was so nasty sounding.
But beautiful.
Nasty but beautiful.
It's like he doesn't even try to sound pretty and beautiful and to be in the center of the pitch, you know what I'm saying?
He's just feeling it, and he delivers his emotions, and he doesn't care how it's gonna sound there, in the end, it's not about every detail.
It's not about every single note being perfect and I love that.
There was some distortion, but I'm not sure if that was digital distortion or that was him.
This like “Where did he go?”
So interesting.
There was lots of twang, again, but there was also a lot of this: “he melted into the black night” all of these vowels that help with the twang, and then when he went to “just like snow” I cannot go that low, but he went an octave lower, like gliding there.
I mean, these tiny details, but they add so much to the overall feeling of the song.
I love.
“Of something far more sinister in mind that does await” And again, here he was more relaxed, whereas before, when he was singing for the Screech, there was again way more twang, and it was louder, and it had almost this crying sound character there.
What?
What?
So now he's dead.
You guys, who else is going to die there?
I knew this was gonna happen.
Okay, I wanted to talk about the distortion in his voice, but now I'm preoccupied with his lyrics.
No, it was before.
And this, like a shooting scene.
And like the cameraman goes down, the dedication.
Wow.
This is insane.
And yes, somebody told me that I cannot say this is insane too many times and that I need to work on my vocabulary, but English is my 3rd language, so if you don't like it, don't watch my videos.
Anyway, I had to say that because this is insane.
This vibrato again.
What?
That was beautiful.
“It's such a shame” So now we have Jenny - dead, Screech - dead, Who else is gonna die?
He's a great storyteller, but why is it always so sad?
Okay, what's gonna happen next?
Violet, who's Violet?
I also love the bluish purple-ish curtains behind the words “Violet's tale” That was also a nice touch, and again, his guitar skills.
It's like classical polyphonic pieces, again, so beautiful.
That sounded like somebody was crying And it was the head voice, this: “Oooh” something like that.
He also has this nice dynamics there when he goes louder and then more quiet, just like waves of crying?
That was so cool.
He said we must rewind, and then he was rewinding on the guitar.
That is, I want to go back.
This is such a cool detail.
Wow.
I'm obsessed.
It's so thoughtful, my goodness.
What?!
No, why?
My God.
Focus on the vocals.
I loved.
Oh, why?
Help me, somebody.
I loved his use of… What I was going to say?
I love his use of natural reverb in the space because when he went from the room to the hall or what that is, there was a natural reverb.
It's just so cool, and again, I know that he's really thoughtful when it comes to choosing where he's recording his songs because he doesn't do a lot of post-production, so he needs to know what his voice will sound in the end there, and he's using everything around him.
Wow.
And his eyes again.
So he was doing the same as her father did to her, and this is why the story repeats.
“He'd paint her black and blue and dark” Girl, you had to choose better.
I also loved, when he went to head voice, there was so much reverb, and then when he was in “devil, comes to dance”, he was holding this “Ssss”, it's like, you know, the snake doing these like sss sounds.
I don't know why I was thinking about the snake.
I don't know.
Yeah, let's continue.
Oh, God.
Oh, God.
Is she also dead? What’s going on?
So she died.
He's barefoot there.
No, he has socks.
No, he’s… doesn't matter.
Wait, what?
So they were twins?
So, like, wait.
So Violet is their mom.. and then she died, giving birth to them, and then, but why, what?
And then what?
But if they were, they didn't know that they're related?
What's going on?
I need to go back.
Please tell me what's going on in here.
This is deeply concerning.
I don't know what to say.
I need to listen to this again, honestly.
I need to rewind my brain.
But if we are talking about the artistry, right?
If we are talking about his poetry and the way he tells a story with his vocals.
Also, the way he's able to switch to these different characters.
He changes the sound color.
He adds distortion.
He plays with dynamics.
Also, the cameraman.
It was so great, like the way he went down there, and then the way he Ren uses the natural spaces and natural reverb in spaces.
This is so creative and this is not just a song.
This is art.
It is beautiful.
I don't want to talk about it anymore because I don't want to cry and I need to pick up my kids soon.
I am going to relisten to this one again.
Or you can just teach me in the comments because you probably know more than I do, but again, Another masterpiece.
Anyway, I'm traumatized, again, thank you Ren And if you have any other recommendations for me.
I know you do.
So please write it down in the comments.
What is your favorite Ren’s song?
Maybe I'll react to that one as well.
So drop it down in the comments.
Thank you for being here, and I will see you in my next video.
Bye guys.
