The footage provides a stark, unvarnished look at nature’s capacity to turn a century of growth into a ballistic threat in a single heartbeat. It is a humbling reminder that our structures exist only by the temporary permission of the elements.

Devastating AfterMath On The Farm The Tornadic Texas StormsAñadido:
to turn a tree like this into splinters, toothpicks, and then knock every bit of bark off of the tree entirely.
>> Yeah. And that's not all it did.
>> No, unfortunately, it gets a lot worse.
Okay, before I turn the camera around and show you guys this bird, I guess these birds, I have to warn you, he's probably doubled in size since you guys saw him last. This bird is grown at such an incredible rate, it's unbelievable.
Release the quack. Oh my gosh.
>> What are y'all doing?
>> Morning everybody. Today we're starting out with some bird stuff.
>> So today we're going to take the ducks down to the pond. Going to release them.
>> Release them.
>> Yeah.
>> Release them, but not forever. It's just a field trip. Ooh, the seat got a little dewy last night.
>> I just realized something else.
>> Clean.
>> Yeah. I just realized something else I need to do first.
>> What?
>> I need to get feed so I can get all of these guys back up.
>> Yeah, >> for the moment. Even though they're going to escape back out again.
>> Let's do that.
>> Yeah.
>> Speaking of feed, we're running pretty low on this stuff. I think we're >> Shoo.
>> Just a couple of bags now. Huh.
>> Yes. We got to go get feed. You might want to shut that cuz Yeah, they're the chickens will all try to go in. They know feed's in here. Shoo. Shoo. you have pests.
>> What a bunch of pests.
>> They really are.
>> So, maybe that's what we'll do today. If uh they don't close too early, we'll go grab some feed. The feed store that we like to go to is a little bit of a drive. Uh but it's the closest place to go to where you can get bulk feed uh at a discount.
Trying to move them over this way.
Oh my gosh.
All right.
Now, as they all start to kind of go in, yay, there goes our turkey hen.
>> They might be big enough now to where we clip their wings, they don't get out, >> which I'd like to add, clipping their wings does not hurt them. It more so protects them. That way, they are not flying over the fence, getting ran over, other animals coming up here and harming them.
>> Clipping a chicken's wings is like getting a haircut or trimming your fingernails. They don't really feel it.
Neither do they. All right. Looks like you got them all put up for the moment.
>> Yes, for the moment.
>> So, it was actually pretty cold last night. It got down to like the mid50s, which is temperatures we're not used to seeing over the last couple of weeks.
So, we're going to see if little Chucky will start up for us here today. Going to reach in and turn the key forward. We still haven't fixed the electric start yet, unfortunately. But, we'll pull the old cord here and see if it fires up.
He started.
>> The babies are still young. We have to lock them up at night to keep them away from predators. Rats will eat them, raccoons, possums, everything.
>> It was also again pretty cold last night.
>> Hi guys. Are you ready?
>> There's the duckies.
>> No, these are the geese. I'm going to leave them up here so they can lawn mow everything, enjoy their green.
>> Should we put them in the garden?
>> Nah, we'll just put them out here so they can >> put them in the garden. That way they're behind the fence.
>> Okay.
>> Where's the ducks at >> in here?
>> Grab them.
>> Oh, hi duckies.
>> We'll load them all up.
>> Duckies.
>> Oh my gosh. There they are.
>> I know. A huge tote full of 15 ducks.
>> They're getting so big.
>> They ate all of their food. I'll help you with this one.
>> Okay, thank you. They're pretty heavy.
Oh, one of them quacked.
>> Really?
>> Oops. Sorry, guys.
We got them loaded up. Two totes full of birds. That's a bunch of water foul.
>> I love the water foul. They're so fun.
>> Hey guys, >> he's skipping over.
>> They're getting pretty tall, huh?
>> Yeah, they're getting tall. They're getting heavier. I think they might be the African geese, but I'm not for sure.
I hope they are cuz I want big hefty geese.
>> They're getting big, that's for sure.
All right, guys.
I hope you're hungry.
Go.
The little tail wags are so cute.
I can't tell if they're happy or mad.
Happy peeps.
>> Bye-bye, guys. Enjoy your day. and get to weeding, fellas.
And now for you guys. Are you ready for your field trip?
>> Look how pretty the gray one is.
>> I know. Hi guys.
What you doing?
>> A little nibble, huh?
>> Yes. They're preining you.
>> Is that what it's called?
>> Yes. Hi. We got two.
>> I also like the black and white ones.
Those are pretty, too.
>> Hey, buddy.
>> They're all so sweet. I can't wait to hatch more.
>> Stacy has a bit of a problem. An addiction, if you will. There's worse things to be addicted to, though.
>> That's true.
>> I'm climbing on here like I don't have to get off to start it. I forgot about that.
The old pond finally filled up. The one good thing about all those storms is we got a ton of rain. All right, let's get you guys out of here.
Are you guys ready for a swim?
I wish to hold you first.
>> I'll let you.
>> He's cool.
Male or female?
>> Not sure. We'll know by their quietness here eventually.
>> They're going to freak out.
>> I would probably dump them from here just to watch them.
>> Just to watch them run.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> I want to see them running squash in it.
Release the quacking. Oh my gosh.
>> A, that's so cool.
>> That's where the old term comes from.
From like a duck to water, huh?
>> 15 ducks of swimming.
>> See if they'll be all right.
>> Yeah, probably.
I'll come down here and check on them a lot.
>> We're going to try leaving these guys down here today. Um, not completely by themselves. will be back and forth checking on them all day, but I don't think they're going to mind it.
They seem to be enjoying it pretty good.
>> And I bet they attract a whole new wild flock, too.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> We're going to go from 15 to 30 ducks.
>> Yeah, Stacy had the Stacy had the ducks out in the front yard the other day and she came in freaking out and was like, "Hey, there's more ducks out here." And it turns out there were two What were they called?
uh black belly whistling ducks.
>> Yeah, just wild ducks that came in to hang out with uh with our ducks. So, it'll be pretty interesting to come down here today and see what might be hanging out with them. Pretty cool.
>> I'm going to sneak in right through the woods to come check on them.
>> So, not only is the pond full, it's actually over full. This is one of the overflow areas right here. And you can see the sun coming off the water there.
It actually overfilled.
So, the pond is at full capacity at the moment. Okay, guys. Enjoy your swim.
We'll be back to check on you soon. I'm nervous. I hope they're okay.
>> We should go get a mannequin and set it out here by the water to act as a guard against predators.
>> Something. Yes.
>> Okay.
>> Yes.
>> We got the old geese out in the garden today again on weed patrol. Stacy's giving them some fresh water out here and they're absolutely loving it. The geese don't like water as much as the ducks do, but they're still water foul.
Oh, he's trying so hard to reach.
>> If there's anybody out there that's super duper familiar with geese, please let us know if you know what kind of geese these guys are, cuz we really have no idea.
I don't even know.
Anyway, garden is looking phenomenal after all that rain we got in that last storm. Squash plants are looking great.
The okra is absolutely thriving. And our potato plants are too. We got a bunch of those popping up here.
>> And then we also have some cute little geese going around doing their job picking the grass.
>> Yeah, weed eating.
>> Well, you think it's about time we go check on the old ducks?
>> Yes, let's do it.
>> How many did you have down there?
>> 15.
>> Let's hope there's still 15.
>> Oh my gosh. Don't say that.
>> He's like, where you going?
>> All right, we're going to go check on the ducks and hopefully we still have 15. We should I see ducks.
>> How many?
>> I don't know. They're all in the little tub. Oh, there's some down there in the water. Hi, guys. Ducky.
>> Mean to park you in the puddle there, mama.
>> That's all right.
Thought you were a duck there for a second.
>> I might as well be.
>> Uhoh.
>> Hang on. Let me recount.
All 15 of them.
I counted 14. Got >> scared that first I saw.
>> Yeah, I did. I was about to get very upset. Like, no. What have I done?
>> They're loving it. Y'all get out there.
Go on.
>> He's like, I'm taking a nap.
That's awesome.
>> They're so tired.
>> This is their first time down here in the pond. Well, I guess we brought them down when they were little, but it was more of a in-n-out thing. Cuz at the time we brought them and put them down, they were really uh kind of small and about fish food size cuz there's some big bass that swim around in here.
Stacy's caught I think it's the same fish, but Stacy's caught it. Aaron's caught it. My brother's caught it. Uh I think I did too actually. There's a 7 lb bass in here. And he's he's a big dude.
He might even still be able to eat them at that size.
>> Probably. So, but don't say that.
>> I like watching them go like dig their dig their faces under their bills.
>> My favorite thing is the duck dive when they go under and you don't see them for like 5 seconds and then they pop up like far away.
>> Oh my gosh.
What are y'all doing?
>> That's awesome.
>> They're still holding on a little bit.
That went crazy.
>> Yeah, >> that's my favorite. Oh, like that kind of. How are you feeling today? I'm feeling tired.
>> Very tired and nauseated.
Stomach's bothering me.
>> Right now, as it stands, we're still sitting about one month away from Stacy's procedure. So, once we get all that figured out, she'll be on the mend and back to her old self.
Cuz Stacy's not the type of person that likes to just sit around and rest, even though that's what she probably needs to do.
>> Yeah.
>> She's still out here constantly messing with her birds. And I mean, well, look at her right now. She has bad days where she has to lay down and take naps pretty frequently, but she'd rather be out here.
>> I'm always out as much as I can, even whenever I feel bad. I love my birds.
Gives me something to do.
>> We're trying to keep you busy.
>> I know. I'm trying to keep myself busy.
>> You've got enough to keep you busy.
>> Two more weeks, I'll be hatching out more babies.
>> Oh my goodness. I'll have ducklings.
Hopefully a goose out of 17 eggs that I goose. Probably just one. Yeah. And then some kits or guinea foul.
>> See you guys in a little while. Look at this. The pond finally filled up.
>> Look at all the little fish swimming in it.
If I was a duck, I would be over here eating all of those little fish.
>> Oh yeah, I'm sure they have.
>> I bet. So awesome. All of our little uh bass fingerlings from this year probably.
>> Or minnows.
>> Let's hope minnows.
>> Yeah.
>> What now?
>> Let's go check on the emuse.
>> Emus. You guys want to go play with the emus? I want to go play with the emus >> on Larry and Gertry.
>> Gertie birdie.
>> Whoa.
>> What a mess.
Okay, before I turn the camera around and show you guys this bird, I guess these birds, I have to warn you. He's probably doubled in size since you guys saw him last. This bird is growing at such an incredible rate. It's unbelievable. And Stacy's going to give him a bath or something.
>> Yeah. Yeah. He loves the water. You'll see.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> He cannot stick his head through anymore.
>> Are you serious?
>> Yeah. Just noticed that.
>> All right. Stacey's going in with the pot. Apparently, when he sees this pot, he gets excited. He knows what's about to happen. Look at the size of this monster right here. He's huge. Oh, he's trying to step inside it.
>> Yeah, he loves it. He's a very strange bird, >> huh?
>> He gets very excited.
>> Shoot. Take him down there and put him in with the ducks.
>> I know, right? So, we'll start rolling around. He's um a very special bird.
Wow.
>> Sometimes she'll come join, but she's still kind of weird, I guess.
>> Yeah, >> a little bit. Yeah.
>> Like she wants to >> She's also like half his size, which blows my mind.
>> Like he's going to be a monster.
>> I know.
Look, now she is ready.
That's so cute.
Larry, stay away from the camera, dude.
No.
Bad dinosaur.
>> He's so curious, >> dude.
Quit. Larry, stop.
>> Oh my gosh.
Oh man, they're great.
I like my giant waterfell.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Really?
Hey, that that kind of brings up a question for me actually.
>> Huh? What is the biggest waterfell bird?
>> Would it be a goose?
>> I don't know. Maybe.
>> Or an emu?
>> Not sure.
>> It would be a Larry.
>> Well, they're not really water foul, though, are they?
>> No, they're not.
>> They're not.
>> No, >> I would say a goose.
>> Maybe. Unless there's something exotic we've never heard of before. How big are flamingos? Flamingos are pretty big. You need a flamingo.
>> Are they water fell?
>> I think. What are you >> doing, dude? You think they are?
>> Yeah.
We're at the end now.
>> The water's all gone. Larry, we need a water spigot over here on this side.
>> We definitely do.
>> And a sprinkler. Hey, girl.
>> Hey, buddy.
>> I wonder if >> I wonder if that tractor will pull that pipe layer through the ground.
>> It might. We've had a lot of rain and the ground seems pretty soft, so I bet you could. H >> try it and see.
>> Yeah. So, it turns out we didn't escape that uh tornado storm unscathed like I thought we had. Got something pretty darn crazy to show you guys here in just a second. First, we're going to go feed the goats cuz they're sitting over there yelling at us. So, we're taking the goats a little treat. Um we had been feeding them this sweet feed every night. Uh, but we dialed that back down a little bit because we noticed that since we were feeding them the nice hay in this, they weren't really attacking the vegetation anymore. So, we cut back on that. It's been uh probably four or five days, I guess, since they've had any of this good stuff. So, we're going to go give them a little treat.
They need to get busy over here, huh?
>> Yes, definitely. There's a >> or a lot of brush that could be ate.
>> Maybe they need some help.
Yeah, right. The help would probably be lacking, too.
>> The thing is is the grass is growing so good right now that like they can't even touch this. You can't even tell that they've been grazing in here. It's just so lush and thick. And then the eventual plan is to have all of this fenced in, this whole huge area. So, I think once we do that, we'll definitely have to start thinking about getting some more animals to throw in here with him, you know?
>> Yeah, definitely.
>> Something to help eat the grass.
>> He had to sneeze. Hey, buddy. What are you doing?
>> Hi, little guy.
Gosh, he's gotten so big.
Here he comes. Oh, chunky boy.
>> Oh, they've really uh packed down all the grass around the feeder, huh? Yeah, they have.
>> Here, let's trade. I'll let you feed them.
>> Did you want me to hang this?
>> You don't have to hang it. You just hold it. That way you can pet them. Oops.
>> Well, they know that sound.
>> Here you go, buddy.
Come on.
>> She's like, "Is this a trick?" Sorry, buddy.
Well, come on. You better get over here.
His big butt's going to eat it all.
>> Big is he?
>> He is getting big.
>> Very chunky guy.
>> Yeah.
I want to pet him. Pet him for me since I can't.
>> Oh my. Okay.
>> Thank you.
>> Give him some scratches. He feels so hot from the sun.
>> Really? He's just soaking it in.
>> Come on.
>> Those two are still so skittish. Maybe it has something to do I was thinking maybe that they weren't handled as much, but it also might just be the breed.
Maybe, you know, >> I'm not sure.
>> I don't need I don't know. I don't know.
Is she still trying to nurse?
>> Yes.
>> She's not still lactating, is she?
>> I don't know.
>> Surely not, right?
>> I guess you never know.
>> Huh? Yeah, she is latching on. Huh?
And she's wagging her tail.
She's like, "Get away from me."
>> Let's see if I can get a look at her bags. I don't think she is. When we first got her, we tried to see if she was producing milk because the Nubian goats actually do produce pretty good milk. Apparently, we were going to try that, but it when we but when we put hands on her to see if she was producing anything, it seemed like she was all dried up. I think she probably is.
She definitely looks like she's been eating very well out here, though. She looks better now than what she did a few weeks back.
>> Yeah, she's putting some weight back on after having the baby.
>> Definitely.
>> You want to just hang that up so the other ones will go and get some?
>> Yeah, >> that you can hang it on the bottom of that feeder, honey. Yeah, just right there in the bucket.
>> He's like, "Don't take that food from me."
>> Hey, y'all better get over there.
Seriously, you're going to miss out.
Yeah. See, they don't they're not as not as social, are they?
>> No, they're not. The birds are more social. Look, Larry and Gertie are jealous.
>> Come over here.
There they go.
>> Little vacuum cleaner, huh?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Check out the size of this chicken.
This is a Cornish cross/ Rhode Island Red. I can't talk good. I just ate a bunch of ice and my mouth is frozen. But she's a big old girl.
>> In case you're wondering, we actually kept one of the Cornish Cross roosters.
He grew on me. Very sweet, big, loving rooster. And this is one of his offspring.
>> All right, we got to talk about something.
In our last video, when the tornado rolled through, uh, didn't come through here, thankfully. It was very close, though. We ended up having to take shelter down in the old storm cellar.
There was a lot of people asking why we didn't have the goats and the ducks and the emus and the dogs and everything else inside that storm cellar with us.
I feel like it's I feel like it should go without saying, but this is this is a 6 foot by 8 foot stormteller. It's not exactly Noah's arc. You know what I'm saying? I mean, there's just not enough room. And when you've got a storm that pops up with little to no warning and it's coming your way and you've got 15 minutes, how long would it take to gather up all these animals anyway? It's just not it's not a reasonable thing to even consider, unfortunately. And me personally, I would just take my chances inside, but they won't let me.
>> Here's another thing she uh doesn't have an awareness for is lightning.
I'm trying to beat it into this girl's head since we've got together. Anytime you see cloud to ground lightning, get your butt inside.
She'll be out here walking around and I got to come out here and yell at her and come grab her by the dang ear and pull her inside.
H.
>> Yeah, >> it's dangerous, isn't it?
>> You know that now, don't you?
>> Clearly. Yeah, >> you know that now.
>> Yeah, I'm aware.
>> All right, let's go show you guys what happened. The old goats are in there foraging again after getting their little snack.
Eat that poison ivy, buddy. People who have severe allergic reactions to poison ivy, apparently it's beneficial for them to take goat milk from a goat that has eaten the poison ivy. apparently.
>> Really? I've never heard that.
>> Apparently, there's a lot of crazy benefits to goat milk. Truly is amazing.
While we escaped the tornado unscathed, um we did still suffer a casualty. Not due to high wind or anything, though.
Actually, something a little different.
Check this out. This is about 75 ft away from where I'm going to walk and show you next. This is probably close to a 4ft solid piece of oak laying right here. And this is not rotted. I mean, this thing's probably 25 lb.
I mean, just a solid chunk of wood.
And you'll notice that on the outside, there's no bark on it. This is just smooth. This is the outside of the tree.
This would have been the outside. This would have been on the inside.
Let's go show you where that came from.
As we walk closer this way, you see some more debris and shrapnel from that same tree.
There's a big chunk of it there on the ground.
Here's another big piece here that demolished part of this roof. And it's the same thing. The outside of this thing, this sliver right here would have been the outside of the tree. Not a piece of bark anywhere on it. There's some bark. Not on the tree anymore, though. That probably came from this piece right here. As you look around, you see bits and pieces of that giant oak tree, laying all over the place. You probably can't see it, but there's some pretty sizable chunks even sitting up on the very tippy top of that roof up there as well. Some more big, hefty chunks over here. This right here was probably about a 14 inch oak tree that got struck by lightning and it just demolished this thing.
You can even see some of the burn marks on it right here. And up there at the top, this thing got lit up.
>> It got lit and debarked. I see some of the bark still actually holding on to the outside here. And then you have a chunk of the bark that's sitting away from the tree from where it struck and just knocked it off.
>> Insane.
>> That's a heck of an impact. I can't imagine the force it would take to turn a tree like this into splinters, toothpicks, and then knock every bit of bark off of the tree entirely.
>> Yeah. And that's not all it did.
>> No. Unfortunately, it gets a lot worse.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we're going to walk around over here to Aaron's little shop. He cleaned this little thing out, and this is where he's been working out of fixing his little engines. It's where he keeps all of his tools and the stuff that he's working on. And it's a bit of a mess, but that is because all of this stuff here was nicely organized on top of this toolbox and that shelf there. And this whole tree came through the side of it and just sent his stuff flying. Look at that. I mean, that is a whole tree right there that came through the side of this wall and just demolished it. There's another big piece up there that just punched straight through the roof. And I think he already removed it, but there was another big chunk that came in right through there.
>> There's still a piece of the wood actually coming right >> Oh, that's I thought that was part of the building.
>> No, that's part of the tree.
>> Crazy.
>> Did some pretty mad damage.
>> Yeah, >> I feel kind of bad for the little guy.
Knocked all of his tools and stuff over, but the silver lining is all of this is planning to be torn down eventually. Uh so we can build a proper shop for the little guy eventually. But uh that's later on down the road.
>> Thankfully he was not in here whenever this happened. Yeah, that would have been >> And I'm honestly surprised he wasn't because he's always in here. Rain, shine, day and night. He's always in here tinkering and working on something on this side of the property. And a lot of times he's not even in here.
Sometimes he's standing right over there working on that truck. But, like I said, I've been trying to drill it into my little family here that cloud to ground lightning is nothing at all that you want to mess with. It's very dangerous.
>> Nah.
>> Oh, it is.
>> It's dangerous if you're a tall tree up in the sky.
>> Yeah.
Okay.
>> That's so bad.
>> What happens if that tall tree is standing up in the sky and you're standing right here?
>> Yeah. I know.
>> You're going to go deaf at the very least. Well, if you get hit in the head by something, then it's going to be pretty bad. So, yeah.
>> Yeah. And even after seeing this right here, our youngest Kane, his response is, "Well, how often do people get struck by lightning?" I'm like, "Well, hardly ever, but if you do, it's not good." And then him, he goes, "Well, what percentage of people who actually get struck by lightning die?" I'm like, "I don't know, dude. Google it. It's probably not good." So then he looks it up and it's like 90% of people that get struck by lightning survive is what he saw. And so he's like not scared of lightning I guess either. I don't know.
>> I wouldn't want to get hit by it.
>> Heck no. I wouldn't want to be hit by one of these giant I mean look at the size of this thing.
>> Yeah, I'm already airbrained enough. But I don't want to get hit by anything.
>> Yeah, it wouldn't be good. No, >> it wouldn't be good. Look at the size of this tree.
That is massive >> and heavy.
>> By the way, this is only about I don't know, maybe a third of the actual tree.
It was a big, thick, round tree. Here's the other piece of it.
I mean, I bet that big chunk right there weighs over 100 lbs, maybe 150. It completely demolished our little firewood tote that we have sitting here.
So, that blast was so powerful that it knocked those chunks off of that tree standing right there. They flew over here, hit this metal tote, and still had enough inertia to punch through the side of that building >> and go flying right over here.
>> Yeah. What is that like 30 ft?
>> I don't know.
>> From here to there is about 30 ft. That big long one got flung all the way over there with enough power to crunch the side of that house. Pretty stinking crazy. I personally have never seen that before. I was mind blown at the carnage of a lightning bolt. It's crazy. Let's go see what these guys are doing over here in the field. I think I heard the crack of a baseball bat.
Hopefully I don't get pelted in the head walking up to them. We'll see what happens.
>> Yeah. I'm going to hide behind you cuz I can't see very good.
>> But if it comes at us, don't duck. Take the hit for me. Okay.
>> There we go. You've been slapping the hell out.
Remember, like I told you, step in.
>> Kane's over here practicing for uh baseball next year, huh?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Ready? Set.
>> Oh, >> I let you off that fence.
>> I'll get right over that fence, man.
>> Good then.
>> Watch. Watch me, dude.
That's probably not a bad idea.
him right in the See what I'm having to use.
>> Oh no.
>> Right over the foot.
>> All right, we got to go get y'all some gloves.
>> But are you sure you Why don't you scoot your hands down a little bit?
You're choked up too much.
>> Little bat's too heavy for the little guy.
>> Right. Right. Right.
>> Ready?
>> Oh, he cracked it.
Like I said, the end goal is to tear all of this stuff here down anyway, so we can build something on top of this concrete slab, which is still in good condition. The plan was to fix this side up over here, cuz structurally it's still good. Um, we've started work on that, putting sides up going all the way around. We did run out of material over there. Um, but once we get that done, then we can take everything from that side and stash it in here. Then we can tear all of that down.
and see if we can find a good deal on some metal to build a proper shop on top of that concrete. That has been the plan for a while. Don't know if we'll still be able to do that um after Stacy's surgery thing uh goes down. We should have enough available credit to cover the surgery, but that's going to set us back on some projects around here like the shop and fence and, you know, some other things that we have in the works.
But the most important thing is getting Stacy better.
I'd trade all of this crap, the property included, if it meant getting her better. And I mean that. None of this crap means anything to me at all without her. Stacy and I started out together when I was 18, 17 or 18 years old, something like that.
And we had nothing for a long time. We had nothing. We built everything that we have today from the ground up, just her and I. And without her, none of this crap means a damn thing to me.
