We're back for another Legacy League and this may be a genius idea. This may be an idiot's idea, but I decided to jam a bunch of blue cards into my lay line of the void helm of obedience deck. So that now we have force of will to protect our combo to stop opposing combos. And of course we have the broken card that is flow state. So we have 12 instance, 12 sorceries. We've got dark ritual as our only acceleration. This can power out very powerful turn ones of course with like dowy void walker dots or it can power out like a turn two or bow masters and dowy or it can power out like a turn four turn five helm kill your opponent.
So there's a lot to like about having these powerful creatures here as our alternate wingcon. We've also got Tomio that can buy us time but is mainly here is just an additional card that pitches the force. We only have 18 cards that pitch to force which is lower than normal. So again, the combo if you're unfamiliar with it, you get lay line out, you play a helm, you activate helm, you win. It's as simple as that. It's very strong. Uh and I think that because flow state is in the meta. It just rewards decks that have powerful AB combos like this. And we have the interaction to protect. We have even more interaction postboard. We've got three force of negations. Uh we've got toxic deluge and a ton of fatal pushes.
I was just like, "Okay, if we don't need the forces, I'm just gonna bring in a bunch of fatal push. We're up against Delver. I'm gonna cut the uh thies is I'm just going to bring in fatal pushes, right?" That's like my thinking there.
And hydro blast got some consigns. I've got a Kai, too. If we go up against like a true control deck where we're going to be grinding for a while, this is probably the best thing we can be doing.
And we do have lots of creatures that can potentially enable it. So, this should be fun. We'll see whether this deck sucks or whether it rocks. All right, round one. We're up against a likely blue-like Tempo Gamer. Uh we have lots of land, so I kind of like just keeping this and floating this under city sewers out there. We've got the most powerful card in the matchup, which is Orcish Bow Master. So, this doesn't do any combo things. It's just a tempo deck. And that is why we might be able to surprise them with like a Dowy later.
I'm going to bin that. I've got like I think eight fetchables in the deck. So, it is possible that we just start to run out of lands and can't win without a Dark Ritual. Hopefully, that won't happen. They ponder. That's not a Tomio.
I'm happy to see that. So, we're just going to baby this Orcish Bone Masters.
We're not going to cast it proactively.
We're going to try to mess them up with it. Gosh, we're drawing all the lands, aren't we? Well, uh I do have brainstorm into shuffle away a bunch of lands hopefully at the end step. They are representing bow masters. I'm going to take another turn. We're a combo deck.
They're the ones that have to win through tempo. We're getting further and farther ahead. I'll play this out and we'll pass. We have dark ritual into our cast force if we want it now. I don't think that's what we want to be doing, but we have so much mana. I'm playing 19 lands total, which is less than I normally play because brainstorm ponder.
They're basically Man, what are they playing? Huh? Well, I'm not going to risk the bow masters on my brainstorm. I mean, I could I could get blown out really hard. I don't have a blue card for force to protect. I thought very hard about putting a second surveilland in the deck, and I decided not to.
Okay, so thoughts is pretty good because this forces the bow master. Then we can brainstorm and get a shuffle. They fetch. Okay, they've got their basics. I can also grab basics. There's their bow master. Now the question is, do I want to brainstorm or do I just want to bow master this? I think I just want to hold the brainstorm. My hand's not that bad.
It is pretty bad. Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna brainstorm this. Okay, so that is pretty unfortunate, actually. I'll put these two underground seeds back. I don't really have to think too hard about that. This is going to resolve and I have instant sorcery so I can just flow state immediately if they if the coast is clear. So I'm taking a lot of damage here because I'm going to fetch twice. Oh, they have a lot of stuff here. They have a lot of stuff. I think we have to take the barif sadly. They have double force but we'll expend those. They'll probably have to force a flow state, but they can force my bow master. Yeah, I'll just get two for ones. They have the days, so I don't want to turn on days. I'm just going to pass. They have a pretty stacked hand, but I can see why they weren't doing anything. I It is good that we got the bar out of the way because it looks like this game's going to be pretty long.
Unless they drew Kaio here, we're okay.
They didn't draw Kaiito. That's good.
They're pondering here. It's fine. I'm not going to bow master again. Uh because I want to respect the days, but they just dropped a blue card and maybe they don't have the blue card. They have this redundant uh they probably think it's the mirror. And why? Like even if they thought Cesus, they'd probably think it was the mirror, you know? Why wouldn't you think this is the mirror? I do have to shuffle. I'm going to go get a swamp. I have two swamps. Come on.
Don't be a land. All right, that's actually pretty good. We're going to take more damage, but I am going to go ahead and play this out. What I'm going to do here is I'm going to try to get them to force my flow state. That's actually not that big of a deal for me.
I can clear one and then I can block the other. I just have to Yeah, I might have to force to protect here. Man, I'm taking a lot of a lot of damage. This is tough. Okay, so I'll just take this Tomio here. Now I'm in a flow state and they're going to force it and then I can bow master one of the cards, but I won't be able to kill the other one in combat.
Yeah, I'll get the swamp here. They're going to see that I'm not on a standard build. I'm certain they're going to force this, but if they force Oh, they're not. Okay, well, that's good for me. So, I'll take the two cards that are, you know, actual playable cards here. I'm going to play out a Tomio just as a blocker. And then next turn, Bow Master Apocalypse will begin. They're going to fetch Surveil here. I'm so low in life, man. I could die here for sure.
So, I'm just going to block here.
Hopefully, they don't have the Kaio.

That's good. Once we clear their stuff, I could dark ritual. I'm going to doubt the first. See how they react to that.

They'll force one of them, pitching one of their cards, and then they'll be left. Or I could just hold and have a force of my own. But if they force, then the force goes into the graveyard. I think I wait and I try to blow them out in combat. It sucks knowing that they have a force effect. They may have two.
I can't counter this. Currently, they only have one force effect up, but they're going to get two cards, so they'll likely have a second force. I'm going to try this. All right. And now I'm just going to come in. They're probably going to force this so they can save their bow master. Okay, that's good for me. Now I'm going to go ahead and do the other one. I think they probably force this one. This is going to be a pretty good matchup once we have the actual um lay lines out. Yeah, that's as expected. Okay, they get to do this. So now they know not to get cantrips and to try to find a fatal push and or another thing. I'll have force up next turn off of Dthy if I want it. Flow states in the void which I could use in desperation.
If they attack with the orc army I probably chump it at this point. Yeah, I think I just take it. I'm not expecting a sudden burst of damage. Ah um we could flow. I I'm don't want to lose. Yeah, I'm just going to chill for one more turn. I have hard cast force up, but they did. They pitch the days earlier. They did. I I can't imagine it's right to hold DY back. I need to attack. I don't care about the fact that I've got like a force in Exile. Wait, no, I don't. Do I have a bow master in XL? I have a bow master in XL. I should have used it. I'm sorry. Okay, they're attacking. I am going to block here. I am getting a little too low in life for comfort here against the bow master deck. If I just draw the card, I can just win. Yeah, I'm not going to be able to win from this position without getting the bow masters. It sucks. But then I have bow master superiority and I can chump for a turn cycle. They pro they still have a force in hand. If I wait, I take two life. I can't can or else I'll lose my bow master. I'm just going to do one more turn. This might be death sentence just like waiting because who knows what they're drawing. But I do have force blue card. I guess I could have No, because if I attack then they can just not like block and then they can do even more damage. I'm so low that I can't really fetch my land. All right, I'm going even lower. I've got one good draw left. I don't even have the if if I find it, I can't even use it the uh helm unfortunately.
So I'll try to fight on their turn, I guess. But I'm going to take a lot of damage here. Yeah, leave a comment if you disagree with this play. But I feel like I'm completely behind the eightball due to these bow masters. So I'm going to two here and then if I fetch a one, I'm dead to a bow master. I used a lot of time thinking about this, too. We have to hope that they have some caner trapped in their hand, too. All right, so we do have to deal with this body. I don't have any removal in my deck. I just have to block. I don't have a clear path to victory other than just um yeah, I'm actually not even sure how I would win from here. It's an unfortunate draw.

Unfortunately, if they have the bomb master, I'm dead here, but I could have been dead a long time ago. Dark ritual is nice, but it doesn't help me. And it also gives away that I'm on helm. They may not know that I'm on helm. Huh? Wait a second. So, I dark ritual. I dark ritual. my helm. I might hit like a bargo. That would be game probably. Like unless they remove it. I'm willing to show them what I'm playing here. Do you have I mean, if they had the the hard cash, they would have used it. Okay, we whiffed. So, we have to chomp. And then we can try again next turn and try to hit one of their berries. Or I mean, if we hit like a Tommy or something, it's not very impressive, but she can technically block that. We're drawing a ponder, which does help us find stuff.
If we find a bargo, it's huge. They've shown us one bar so far. There's the possibility that I find land here. I'm going to ponder. This is an any order shuffle. We do find land. Unfortunately, it's not a land that I can tap. It's probably best to wait until we go into combat and that way I can uh, you know, potentially peel the bargo and immediately gain the life in combat. I think the odds of that are extremely low. They could even brainstorm when I put this on the stack. Fighting tooth and nail here. And I've given away my game plan. They brainstorm. All right.
Uh we can we can move on. There's nothing. They're just going to set it up to where unless their hand is all creatures. I mean, I guess that's one out, but it would probably just be a dinky like Tommy or something. Okay. So, in this matchup, I think like Lelay line's going to be so strong if we can get it. I don't know that I want to really focus on fatal pushes and stuff here.
This is I don't feel like toxic del use is right. Tomio is pretty bad here.
Fatal push probably kills almost everything in their deck. I think we could cut the Tomios. We could even cut the forces. I think I am actually fine with cutting forces and then just kind of overpowering their interaction.
We could keep two forces. I guess that blue count is so pathetically low though. Maybe maybe I'm wrong to do that. I think I think I just take Yeah, I think I'll keep all the forces in because we we may need to defend from Brazen Borrower. Like I'm going to mold to a lay line. That will um be extremely awkward for their um like I don't know how many answers they have other than a maybe one brazen borrower for leel line.
We didn't actually show them lay line, but they can presume it's in our deck.
I'm not actually planning to attack them at all if I can avoid it. I think one of the under like I guess under reportported upsides of Orcish Bow Masters is he's an incredible defensive creature. He comes out like every time they draw you create a new chump blocker. You can potentially ping off a creature. Um you can ping something with up to three toughness if you're willing to sacrifice the bullmaster itself just by ambushing them. And it's it itself is two bodies which buys you so much time.
Like this this creature is just by far the best black creature ever printed.
It's not even close. And it pains me to see so many people playing black that aren't like maxing out the full four.
All right. Um this is there's nothing wrong with this hand. There is nothing wrong with this hand. I think we underground C and we ponder. I know it's not a layline hand, but like I can't throw back a hand like this. Maybe it's the control gamer in me, but like a combo gamer would be like screw it. We got to get the layline. We can actually cast lean in this deck. Uh I you know I could have probably trimmed thies against their aggro deck. Flux fate number two is going to force them to interact. I think I do. I'm interested in land. There's the helm. So we have the combo in hand, but that doesn't you know they're almost certainly playing uh sees and I'm playing three helms. Uh my idea being that there's so much selection that we should be able to find it reliably. They may have cut some number of daisies on the draw. So, we might be able to actually brainstorm, shuffle, and then resolve a flow state later, but I will be brainstorming immediately. This card is just so broken that it's hard for me to play any deck that doesn't have it in it and feel like I can keep up like combo decks, control decks, even tempo decks can play it. I'll just go ahead and do this now. All right, so we don't want the lay line of the void. I do want to thought seize my opponent. I guess I could put it back a land here. I'll probably find more in seasoning. Then we want to try not to take an instant because then that makes their uh flow states viable. Null rod does shut down the helm and we don't have an answer for it. But they don't have any other interaction really other than that wasteland scary. I think I'm going to take the null rod just out of respect for like being able to combo them here.
Yeah. and they're likely to waste us, but I'm going to wait and just bow master after they do their thing. I think against like a deck that doesn't have Thotsies and and Wasteland and Force of Will and Days and all that stuff, it does make sense to be more aggressive in Mole, but I just don't think we're going to win games that we uh about what I expected. And they they have the Tomio, so I can flow here and try to find another land. Wait, I put a land on top, right? I think it's totally fine to just draw that land. Do wait, did I shuffle? I brainstormed. I did shuffle. Okay. Um I think we just flow state here while we can. It's probably more important to get DY down. I think I'm going to go ahead and flow state.

Dely can clock them potentially. They're not going to unless they can double bow mastery, which they won't be able to do for a long time. They're not going to be able to kill Dowy unless they find a fatal push. They're likely playing them.
There's the basic swamp, so they can crack clues and and advance their game state. They may want to hold up a bow master against us. We'll see. Luckily, flow state does not draw cards. Two unknowns in hand. Bow master. That's fine. Main phasing it. Okay, that's not bad. So I think I do want this fourth land so I can attempt to cast helm next turn. I am going to go ahead and attempt a flow state and if I can find like a blue card in a force that's really good.
If I can find a thought seas that's really good. Also note that they'll never be able to flow state as long as Dowy's out. This dark ritual is pretty sweet because it allows me to just win not this turn but next turn. So I'll leave the ponder behind and I am going to go ahead and do seize again before I attack. I can take one of the bow masters. They have a flow stick that doesn't do much. They have Kaiito. I can take Kito and just let them have the bow masters. I think that's fine. What do I have in the void? I just have Kaiito.

Yeah. So, they have flow state plus clue crack to potentially find maybe I should have taken. No, I took a blue card. I wanted to minimize the amount of blue cards they had and I think I did a good job there. Flow state for one. One card only. So Dave won't stop me. I'm really glad that I have like three basics so I don't have to sweat like getting wasted and kept off of helm that way. If they find a thought is pretty bad. They flip Tommo. It doesn't even matter. It's just so nice having a combo in your deck. All right. So their hand is bow master two unknown. All right. I'm going to go and do this. So, if they had found if they'd had push, they would have pushed and then I could have activated and got like a Kito um and then probably stunned. If I stunned uh No, I probably just plus Kaito. I still would have gotten to like mill like a couple of their cards and potentially find a good card. But like I probably was losing to a fatal push. I'm not sure because I still had a bow master in hand and they didn't have any more bow masters. No, wait. I think they still had one bow masters. Yeah. Okay. So, we don't want to play a long game against them. We'll lose that. I want to get like I want to mole to Leila this game for sure. And if I'm going to be mulling aggressively, I want to be able to rebuild my hand. So, I do maybe want the Tomios in. And since it's not going to be a long game, we cut the fatal push. And then Tomio increases my blue count and also serves as like a blocker against their small creatures.
but mainly just as a blue card for force to so I can force through my helm. So keep in mind we had the weak like easy to remove version of the lelay line effect. Also keep in mind that we're going to have to force a thoughts if we have the lelay line out if we also have the helm in hand. And that assumes that we're going to even have the force like lay line and force are pretty antithetical to one another because you're mulling aggressively. Gosh, this hand I think this hand's a trap because it's like super vulnerable to wasteland or not not to wasteland. I mean, this hand is totally fine, but it has neither of our combos and I' I just said we're going to lose if we like lay line is so good. There it is. Yeah, this is fine. I'm going to keep this. They if they have brazen borrower, we can we have a redundant effect in the delthy and we actually have a pretty aggressive hand here for our deck. I also could have fetched an underground sea so that I could uh play out the Delia turn faster, but I don't think that's where we're at. We're not trying to race with combat damage. We've already disrupted them heavily with lay line. It means their netherwist if they're playing netherws are not going to be good. Means their barista are probably going to suck too because there just be far fewer things. It means flow state is not going to work. It means merk tide if merk tides in their deck isn't going to do anything. like this is a really good sidebar card in his main deck in our deck. All right, so I'm gonna go ahead and attack and just immediately uh draw the card so I don't have to worry about bow masters. So we are putting something in the graveyard for the purpose of bargo if he's not like totally derpy over there. Okay, that's unfortunate draw. We can just throw it out there and see if they want to waste it. They know we have a bow master so they're not going to want to cast the first bow masters. That's fine. That's a two for one. No rod. Not a big deal. I'm just going to win out of creatures now.
So, I'll actually play this out later because I don't want to get dazed, but I do want to get this on the table because it hits hard and I want to be the second person to cast the bow masters. Actually, maybe it makes sense to attack with both and then I play this out and then they don't have great attacks anyway. I think I'm going to just attack with both before they like if I can take this out.

So, what I'm going to do is when they try to zero this, I'm going to try to bow master and uh kill both of them and then let's see if this works. Please work. Okay, good. And I could have just targeted them, but I want these bow masters off my neck. Do you have a fatal push? They probably would have used it by now, right? I think that was a punt strategically.
They should have plused and then they would have been be able to res on this.

All right, round two. That was a very close match. It was really fun. We're up against somebody who plays oops sometimes and also plays blue red tempo.
This is a snap keep. I think we just dark ritual dowy thoughts and then we have helm later and we might be able to put some insane card into exile here. Okay, they're F6.
All right. So, in as far as cards to put in their ex into their graveyard, the only one that really does a lot here is Delver. They're down to one land, actually. Uh I mean, this would be a good hand if we weren't shutting off all their stuff. I think we take the ponder because we're racing a Delver, even if it flips, and that way they it's harder for them to dig for a bolt. That's my reasoning. Okay, we'll pass. And now, even if they waste us, which is unlikely given the texture of their hand, like I think they're almost certainly just going to get a um unless they draw something like if they drew a belt bolt, that would obviously be really good for them. But both the Merk tides and the flow state and the dragons ra Chandler are affected negatively by this. Okay, lay line not exactly what I want to see.
Um, I'm going to ponder and then I can um surveil away one of these. I actually don't want any of these that badly, but I'll take the the Delta. I'll just take the Delta. And I could have taken another land, but like I don't know.
Something tells me that they're going to be dead to combat damage before I have the mana to helm them. Assuming that things go well and they don't find a bolt, it's extremely unlikely that they're playing a wasteland but or or that they're playing stifle, but I am going to fetch just out of respect for stifle because it would be devastating.
And I'll just assume that they're not going to draw multiple wastelands without using I mean technically DRC still works. Okay, Delver doesn't flip.

So I think we're gonna steal this game one just on the strength of Dely. All right, this is just a under city sewers to get deeper into our deck and next turn we can attempt to cast a helm. Dark Ritual actually gives us helm right now or next turn. Yeah. Uh so I I'll keep that around and then I'll try to go for the helm kill next turn. So with that Dies, we're actually kind of behind on the the race here. If this flips, it doesn't.
So, they can flow here to get deeper into their deck. Try to find a Vog, but they're only getting one card. They could find a Vog if they already have the uh Wasteland or the Bolt in hand.
Then they could get rid of the Dothy immediately. There's a decent chance that like a Force of Will could be forthcoming here. I have a stop in my draw step for some reason. If anybody's wondering, my stops, they're right here.

Yeah, we brought in the hydros so we're actually higher on blue cards than we were before. I think we've got like 19 in the deck now. We went from 18 to 19, so that's fine. Kaiito is pretty cool because he's like an alternate way to win in combat and he's a blue card. I'm going to bring him in. Let's do it. And unless my hand is exceptional, I'm probably going to mole uh to try to find a line. It can be dangerous. Like they could kill me with cutter for sure. But Dowy is very unreliable because they have so much creature removal. This is not an exceptional hand. This hand is pretty damn good. We have dark ritual to power out of bow masters and have hydro blast up. I think that's good enough.
They're playing dover, but dover might flip before I'm just trying to decide whether I want the brainstorm or the ponder. I think I want the ponder and I'll like brainstorm will be better later in the game. Yeah, we'll do that.
It's scary to be a combo deck and be fighting people fair like this. Their second main phase hipster. Okay, they're not playing anything, which is great for me because uh I think here we just play this out. And now if they do the cutter, we can at least try to interact with Hydro and then they'll probably counter it, but then they won't have the uh creature immediately. They probably kept on the presumption that we're going to have a lay line or a lay line effect pretty quickly. Okay, what's going on over there? We saw their hand. They're on Delver. I'm going to ponder and see if I can get them to interact on with that because I don't want to play this out and subject to uh Wasteland.
If they want to daz this or pyro it, it's it's okay with me. They're brainstorming, getting a perfect brainstorm. So, they're just playing slow, recognizing that we're a combo deck. I'm not uh saying they're doing it wrong. It's just that like if they're not going to apply any pressure, that's the whole point of their deck is to apply pressure. I want to find a basic swamp basically. And I have 11 fetch lands or something in the deck. 12. The deck's mostly fetch lands just because I like the flexibility of being able to play on basics, but also because I need to be able to often hit black for Dowy.

Just getting it out of their hand, but they that means they're not going to be able to uh bolt. They have to force now. So, this will be a two for two at least. And if it's not, we've got a serious game piece on the table. And they force pitching a ponder. Okay, they get their brainstorm. They're going to be at four cards after all is said and done. But they did two imperfect brainstorms there. I guess they haven't fetched yet.

Hopefully they don't get a wasteland because then I'm like really kind of backed up and I might just have to like wait on the brainstorm, but wasteland would be very good here. We're We're in the unknown. We got a thoughts here. We got a Tomio. What's not to like about this hand? You know, we draw a dark ritual. Holy cow. It's just like it feels like you can play blue black pretty much anything and you've got a decent shot at the meta.
Like what do we even do last game? Oh, they're on ninjas. Interesting. Well, um unfortunately ninjas is not negatively impacted by Dthy and also unfortunately it has lots of creature interaction. I am a little bit worried about leading with the they're probably not playing wasteland if they're playing retrofitter foundry.
I think the correct play is to go ahead and tomio here. Yeah, I'm going to Tomio and I could have fetched the basic but I want to be able to fetch surveil later if we peter out. This is a blocker if they like have ornithopter later but like if they have ornithopter this turns ornithopter into a 44 you know just stout lad strapping young lad if anybody listens to that band. All right, we got the fatal push out on the probably irrelevant game piece so the Dthy can live. There's the giant ornithodra come to uh crush us with his four for fourness. I will die very quickly to that force without anything to pair it with. I don't think they're on days, but they could be. That would be humiliating, but I don't see a world in which we win by like hanging back here. I'm going to go ahead and doubt the go ahead and do the thing right now.
So, they've got a 44 to my 3-2, but oh, they have a days as well. That sucks. Their deck is practically no reserve list. I've played lots of ninjas on the channel if you want to watch me play ninjas. This is the aggro rush. I don't play this version. I don't think it's I think it's too uh Timmy, if that is an adjective, but like leave it to me to insult my opponent's deck building. Perfectly good conventional wisdom is that like retrofitter foundry onithra is good enough. Okay, stricks.

It's scary, but I do think it's corrected here because we need to make sure that the path is clear for bow masters and we might be actually eliciting a brainstorm, which would help us clear a lot of stuff. So like our hand lined up very well against their Baleful Stricks hand. It pains me to see Baleful Stricksen shot down by Orcish Bow Master. But like my goodness, how many people would be playing Belfast right now if it weren't for Orcish Bow Master? This card is like delivered us from that. So they do have a blue card.
They could have drawn a force. I didn't want them to be able to put this Belfast tricks back when I um cast a brainstorm or a bow masters and I didn't want to wait around forever. I wanted to be relatively mana efficient. I'm going to just chump here. I'm about to do another one soon. They can fetch. They can create a dude, but this will be tapped and I can snipe the thing. So, I'll just wait till they create it and then I'll snipe it. Lay line of the void doesn't do anything here. I'm just going to attack and pass. And again, I'm going to daz protect this bow master. Uh, yeah, I can't. I could have actually attacked with this, too. And then when they make it, then I just snipe it. I should have done that, actually. That was cowardly for me to not do that. So, I need to set a stop here. I don't normally have a stop in my opponent's instep. And now we're just going to pile on their misery. Pour your misery down. Pour your misery down on me. So that gets sniped before it can become a bigger dude. It slows their ascent. We can pass with our choer. They fetch to 12. This is going to surveil, I imagine. So they can make retrofitter foundry creatures here, but it is pretty mana intensive. It's like two to create a 1-1. I I can't really attack with this. I just have to chump for another turn and keep it hitting with this. So I don't know that I'm actually winning the race cuz they're going to have a lot of these things. I think I need more. But the fact that their hand doesn't do anything is a little bit of soulless. Yeah, I'm just going to jump because like every time I chomp, it's like they create a new body and it's not that big of a deal. They could cast the belf just to draw through it. I'm hoping that they're feeling that that is necessary.

Okay, I'll play this out. This represents a surveill. I could surveil or I could just play out the lay line of the void. I don't know that the lay line of the void accomplishes anything here.

That's probably all it does against their deck. I think it's better to just fetch surveil. If they have a ninjitsu, I just open this up to ni ninjitsuing me with like kao or something. That would be bad. But Kaiito's most powerful abilities are kind of locked. I think this is probably a matchup where I cut the dosuses completely and I do bring in Kaio. If they need Jitsu, they lose that constru completely. I've been talking smack on Retrofitter Foundry. Uh I do love this card as like a one of in an Öza saga deck. Like uh oh wow, they're not attacking. Okay, that's actually very good for me. They're just playing out the Kaito. He's going to stun here and then they can protect Kaio. They can buff all their ninjas. I think they're going to stun here. In terms of cards in Exile that I can use, I don't have anything that's relevant against Kaio.
So, they can just keep growing them and then eventually alpha strike me if I don't find my helm. Their only card in hand is the baleful strikes. Yeah. And if I can clear this, which I can't. I don't have any removal in my deck. Okay.
So, I am going to fetch the veil. I need this draw to be the helm. That's good enough. That's good enough. All right, let's jam him and we'll chill. I'm not going to do anything. I'm just going to take this next attack, however big it may be. They can't attack all because then I have uh counterplay. Like I can kill them on the back swing. Well, actually, I can't. I can kill Kaiito for sure. And I think I probably do kill Kaiito rather than attack them just to get him off the table. They could have a redundant Kaiito. Like their deck plays like three Kaiitos. I need to check on my cooking. I'm cooking for my son. All right. And they have opted to surveil.

I'm going to hold the lay line because I just don't think it matters. And uh I can brainstorm it back. They're going to make a dude and they can untap it and that's it. It doesn't do anything further if they untap it. Next turn it will they'll get up to two four fours.
They can make another one so they can jump on the ground and barely stay alive. So I do have to jump with one of these this turn which may make Belfast viable in terms of like if it it's only one ping it's not necessarily the end of the world but I would love to have another chump blocker on the ground if they want to do that they are keeping that back even though they can easily flip this into the other one. So one two three to create it and then they can also tap that and turn that into a flyer. So they can progress twice with their uh retrofitter foundry with the current mana they're representing. So we do have seven uh damage up, but is it doesn't matter unless like a bow master would be the best draw. Dy number three sadly just isn't enough because I'm pretty sure I'm going to be facing two fours. So let's think about what we have in Exile here. We just play a Kaito. We stun. I actually I think I play a Belle's tricks here. Belle's tricks is pretty good. Yeah, I'm gonna do that. And I may be in error here, but it feels correct to get the Belle's tricks because this is a powerful game piece. It's like basically a two for one. Hopefully they don't have a bow master of their own. If they do, I'm dead. I was dead anyway. If they force, technically I could force back by sacrificing my other Dowy. I don't think that's a winning line. This retrofitter foundry has absolutely soloed us this game. It might actually be correct to go ahead and do this. I don't like it.

This is way better than the Kaio at this point. I I feel like this game is pretty much over and I'm just desperately fighting trying to draw something because I I have the combo. Like I have half the combo. If I can survive a turn, I might be able to actually draw into something relevant here. But I don't I don't want to just like lose my bow master and then unlock all their stuff.
That's not useful. So yeah, I am going to go and just play this out. And they're gonna have two four fours and I'm going to have to chump and then they're uh thing is untapped or like like I mean I could just do seize it. Is it right to just dotsize it? They could turn this into a flyer and they could create a second flyer and I think they could attack me to death. But I do have to chomp here and I don't have like any sort of forward momentum. Yeah, it's crazy. But I am actually going to thie this out of their hand cuz like I'm I feel confident that my bow master has to die this turn. We just Oh, snuff out.

They said fun game from my side. I'd say I'm not sure what to make of that. And they may just be being earnest that it really is a fun game for them. I just totally missed that. So that was, you know, potentially a game- losing punt because now I'm under even more pressure. I I don't actually think it was a game losing punt. So they can untap this and then make this big. I I could definitely concede from here. They don't need to do this right now. They're actually kind of giving me a window to get a bow master and poke that, but it should matter unless I draw exactly flow state, which I do. Hell yeah. And surely Yeah, we have flow state here. It's so close. I'm not going to show them that I have the helm. Bummer. They might just interpret that on blue black. Yeah, if we drawn one of those like a turn earlier.

I'm going to take out the thoughts he uses against our aggro deck. Our creatures are expendable for the most part. I do think we want the fatal pushes in. I'd like to bring all of them in. It's they're they're really good against our opponent's deck. So, we have to think about what we cut. I think Tomio is pretty bad. They're almost certainly a bow master deck. We are very low on forces, but I still think we keep them in because we may need the force to protect a toxic delish. Force was just chilling in our hand. Also, natively, our deck does nothing against graveyard.
So, I'd say this is a bad matchup. Like, we want to be paired against like the the Delver decks, right? And the blue black tempos that actually use their graveyard. The fact that our opponent doesn't use their graveyard is pretty big. I don't see us winning a long game against this deck either. It's geared up for the long game. It's not It's not playing days or anything like that. It's trying to It might be playing days, but we didn't see it. This has to be good enough. Yeah, this has to be good enough. And then what I'll do is I'll put these out and then I'll just Yeah, just in case they can get rid of one. I don't think they can get rid of both. I think I just need to go ahead and underground see ponder for my first land, my second land. I could have absolutely just done the endstep surveil there. Maybe that would have been better. 19 lands of the deck. Don't leave me hanging. They said this is a combo. Yes, you are correct. This is a combo. I'm going to bow master twice.

Yeah, you hopefully you'll see before we get to that part. But they they're exuding a certain degree of confidence that like I won't even know what you're trying to do over there because I'm just gonna steamroll you. And this is where they probably can't trip and I'm unable to punish. But next turn I can double punish this thing again. Okay.
Unfortunately, D like as as good as toxic del us is going to be Oh, they have this again. Well, I wouldn't have been able to interact with fatal push anyway because it's part of the cost. It is worth noting that I could like double ping this and kill it. I could also just fatal push it. Maybe that's more conservative, like if this becomes a big deal. I would actually love for them to use this for ninjutsu purposes, but I don't imagine they do what they did if they had a ninjitsu card in hand. So, I'm just going to wait. I'll take this crack. So, I have a couple options. I think I fatal push here and then but the problem is I'm not going to have mana up in case. Yeah. So, I I could dark ritual here and then fatal push. That's telegraphing pretty hard what I have capable. But I do want to use this mana on my turn because I want to bow master a second time. Yeah, I'm going to go and do this again. I don't think if I just played out the bow master, she would never be able to do anything. But like I don't have confidence they're not going to be able to deal with bow master because they're fetching. Please try to save her with a brainstorm. They may just have a force here. They do. Well, that's devastating.
Okay, so it didn't work out. And it's because we had this basic island. If we didn't have the basic island, I could have just done something else.
So, I can take a loyalty offer, but I'm never going to get any productive cracks at her. Unfortunately, this is just like broken Tomio Gaming over here. They're down to two cards, but like it doesn't matter. They got like kind of like a zero value tomo, but they two for one us here and two for two on the other thing.
I I need to find action. I'm going to brainstorm. That's good. Actually, this isn't that great. I need to combo them before they Tommy ultimate me. They don't have a graveyard, so Tomio just ultimates from here. That's all she's good for. I'll just fetch Surveil in the instep. Or I will cast a bow masters if they attempt to brainstorm. I don't think Toxic Dell uses where we want to be. Like it just seems like a losing proposition. They can rebuild their army pretty quickly. Huh. Maybe actually I need to keep it. Maybe they get too hubrisy and we're able to stop Tomio ultimate. So, I'll just do four to everything. I have to do this as sorcery speed, of course, so they can just create a retrofitter thopter thing, start attacking me with it. And I'm dead to those before I'm dead to the tomio ultimate. So, the Tomio is really irrelevant here. There might be some like timing thing where I'm able to snipe one, but I don't think it'll happen. This will get upgraded very quickly. I'll take one and then I'll take more. So, if you haven't watched my other helm videos, oh gosh, they have a ninja, too.

There's a very real chance that they just have like a fatal push or something. There's no real point in doing anything uh to Tomio. I guess maybe it's better than hitting them.

So, I'm going to let them draw, which is dangerous, but what what am I supposed to do here? So, I take two. This happens. I get a new blocker for next turn. This knocks her down a little bit more, so she's a little farther from ultimating. It'll take her an extra turn. There wasn't really any point in pinging either of the other creatures. I could have just straight up. No, I couldn't have killed the uh Well, I would have had to throw everything in front of the ingenious infiltrator and I don't think that would be correct. They plus here. So, they can create a dude and attack me down to one next turn, but they have something even better. So, they are going to just pass without using his ability. I think that was a misclick or that was just like a I've got this like you're dead. Dark Ritual.
Um, I think we're just dead. Like they can stun. Dothy doesn't do anything. I could play a Dthy and maybe they make a mistake of like thinking Dow is actual game piece. And then maybe, just maybe, I draw the helm and win. Three outs and 44 cards. I'll I'll try those odds. But again, I'm not going to live that long.

Generally people who are playing graveyard centric decks don't plan around a turn zero lay line. They just scoop to that. Holy cow. Holy cow. We got the freaking instant turn zero win.

Uh yeah, I am very happy with the fact that I have this on tap. So this is a one- one forever basically unless they clear this. And unless they have brace and borrow, they probably can't clear it. There's no reason we need to turn on their deli. We can easily race them with or turn on their waistline. We can easily race them with just um swamp uh like like what we have in hand. So I think I'll just lead with this and then I could just ping this with a bow master. But we should respect the fact that they could have super shredder which is pretty fast like and doesn't care about layline. They're pondering under city sewer. Bloods me enters. So, in terms of cards and exile that we can use, so far nothing because everything goes into the the void. So, I'll play this out and I'll just attack them. And they've actually done so much damage with like the thought seizes and stuff and the fetches that this will be over in like four more turns. If they find exactly Bargoy, we could have a ball game. They could have actually played that out. That's a three four death shadow. Oh no. Are we going to lose the death shadow? We don't have double death shadows. That's crazy. Okay, so I am going to fetch surveil here because if I can find the helm, I can just win. And I definitely don't want to whiff here.
That is a lot of looks at helm. I'm going to keep that. And yeah, that's fine. So now this has to find helm or we shuffle. Second dely.
Well, let's think about it. They're at nine. We're not dead. But if we attack, these become 14. They se 14. That's lethal. I have to shuffle. That was close to being good enough, right? I can't attack here. I just have to uh hope that the next draw is like pretty much exactly like it. Yeah, it has to be exactly the helm. And I I do definitely think we should go up to four helm. I I think it was probably like I didn't want to draw multiples, but it just holy cow.

And so, we're just using blue to dig through our deck and try to find our combo. Deoxxy del is rough because like those creatures, the death shadows get so big. Uh, I don't want Thoxies either against our aggro deck. So, let's think about what else we would bring in. We could keep the tomios. We keep the kao.
keep one force. Yeah, I don't want thsies at all. So, I'm just going to mold to uh a lay line. I think it'd be foolish not to. My opponent keeps seven.

And they may have a way to clear this like a brazen borrower, but I can redeploy it. They brainstorm. Gosh, that helm was so so freaking clutch. This has been a great league. Well, now I know what I need to put back. So, we're going to have to win through combat damage. We do have Kaiito in the deck. So, I'm going to go ahead and fetch the island and then I can just brainstorm now while I don't have to worry about them doing anything to me.

I could just go ahead and get a ponder here. They It's extremely unlikely, but they could have oppo. I do need to shuffle this. I think I wait till the upkeep and then I'll do it. That way I have fatal push on. Yeah, that's the correct thing just in case they have a bar. Moon shadow doesn't matter. They have another land which I'm thrilled to see. I'm not going to bother uh interacting with this. They could have a bow master. If they bow master, I can push it.
And then I can still have a target for my they could have a days. Okay, so this is a shuffle I think. Yeah, we don't want these cards. I actually dark ritual is not bad. I hold dark ritual for a turn. Then uh I can do stuff with it.
Yeah, this isn't terrible. Assuming the dark ritual resolves, we could double threat. But that is kind of a big assumption. Like they absolutely could have days. We haven't tested to see whether they have days. I don't think I shuffle this. I'm just worried about a thought sees here. Yeah, like the douy's terrible without the dark ritual. So, I'll keep the douy or I'll I'll take the dark the now in case they thought seize me. And I really feel like these fatal pushes need to be reserved for bargo and for death shadows since those can like destroy me really quickly. I am going to play into days next turn. They've been a force. They're drawing a lot of lands which I'm very happy about. I'll take a damage. There's no Kaio. All right, let's try this. Yes.

They're totally outplaying me if they have a bow master here. Okay, toxic deluge is probably okay. I don't need another lay line. I don't necessarily need Well, I'm going to put back this brainstorm. It's a huge liability here.

Next turn, I'll attack and then I will uh kill that and I can force to protect it if they stop it. They're pondering. I hope they deploy a second threat so I can get a little bit more oomph for my uh toxic deluge here. But they could have more street race. I mean, they have the mana to deploy them.
It's terrifying. So, I'll drop to 13 and I'm going to drop to nine here. Come on, land. Okay, well that's a better card to pitch to Tomio. I'm gonna attack and just see if I can get them to do something here before I toxic doge. It sucks to use Toxy Doge in this way, but I do think it's correct because I'm not going to race that with Dowies, I don't think. Let's Well, let's stop and do some math. Okay, so I doubt uh they attack me for three. I attack them again and I deploy a second out. So I've Yeah, as long as I don't actually have to cast this force, I've got four more turns to survive. If I toxic deluge, man, it's hard. I I'm just trying to think really clearly here. So we attack for three and then the next turn we attack for six. And then even if they have like there there could be a situation. Well, we'll just force um a a threat, like a really bad threat. Yeah, I'm going to Delouy here. All right.
Okay. And now I take three more and then next turn I just wipe the board and then I dely. I think that's what I'll do. I'm not going to force that just because like death shadow would be devastating.
Okay, flow state. I'm going to let that resolve. That looks for hopefully a creature that they play out immediately trying to get pressure on me. Not realizing that I would have a sweeper here, but they could just hold it as like a backup threat, but like there's no way for me to kill this without toxic del using. Okay, unfortunately.
H yeah, I'm going to have to do it. So, I'll go to six, right? So, I'll pay four life. I go to six. If I have to force, then I go to five. And then if I have to fetch, which I'll probably have to fetch. Okay, that worked. So, I'll just incept the surveil. I I I think I need to force this. Okay, they're down to two cards, but a lot of their cards are bricks, right? Surely they've got some bricks. I've got a flow state. Damn it.
That's only a two, but I can't deal with it. I need to find a surveile. I'm going to fetch and surveil. I might be able to flow state also if I miss. I've got three more fiddle pushes. Yeah, that's a brick. So, we'll bend that. Okay. Well, find him. Ouch. If they have a way they can do some damage to themselves, we're dead now. No point in taking the lay line. It's probably better than taking the redundant land, though. Yeah, this was just the worst. So, I will play out the Dowy because if I clear, I need to apply pressure. I probably should have actually played out the marshall just in case I drew a brainstorm. I'd be bing one. Yeah, they got it. Good game. Yeah, they played really well. Uh considering that I had the opening lay line. Now I get to be on the play, but that's actually kind of bad. I think actually I could be on the draw and then I get an extra card cuz I might need it if I'm going to be laylining hard. Let's just assume that like I'm going to mle till I have the lay line no matter what. I think that's correct. If that's the case, because they're going to be playing null rod, Tomio's bad. She's so bad.
Yeah. So, I think I'm actually better off with forces than Tomio's there. Even though Tomio can give me a Kaiito in play. I can just cast a Kaiito if it comes down to it. Maybe I do want all four forces in just cuz I'm on the No, I'm on the play, but I need to protect my combo against Nrod.
I really don't like toxic deluge. It feels really bad. I'll just go down to one. This is like I need like I'll just get completely destroyed if I don't have the combo. Frankly, their deck is merciless.
They start with seven. This this doesn't work. Not like this. Um this is like a Dowy and a bow master's hand. So I keep dowy.
I mean I'd almost rather just go down another card and just have a lay line of play for defensive purposes.
Okay, that's that's the keep. So, I'm going to put back this this this and and you might be like, "Wow, you just mold the three. That was that was dumb." And I just want to say like we are going to get completely destroyed by their aggro deck if we don't have layline out. It's it's not like we're going to survive necessarily without it, but this way we get two lands, we get a surveill effect, we have the lay line. I will play this out just so I can fetch surveil. Like if they kept thies or anything like that, it's not going to do any good here. So like if they didn't think I had the audacity to mole straight to lay line, I did. You know, I I will like I've won games where I've mold to lay line. It's a very powerful card. This is they have seven cards in hand. We need to work toward the combo.
If they shut off Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna dump it. That's That's almost the whole combo. They probably have the null rod. They're probably just playing one null rod. You don't usually play like tons of null rods. So now we have a way to get it on the stack. They may have a force, but we can at least test them once. Brainstorm here. Okay. Doubt that he's good. I'm going to play him out.
They may very well have a days, but I'm not going to throw away the dark ritual for it. They may have the fatal push here. They do have the fatal push. We tried. It's a one for one.
my opponent. I said, "Are you just looking for Leland or does the game hate you?" I said, "I chose uh sorry." I said, "Both." And then he said, "Sorry, mate." And I said, "I chose this life."
I did. So, unfortunately, this is going to be our death right here. Unless we draw a fatal push right now. Let's brainstorm.

Flow State is good. Uh I don't No, it's actually not that good, but it clears cards. I'll put it on top and I'll attempt to cast it next turn.
So, they actually get the card regardless of whether it gets milled into exile because of the way that Barag is templated. It's kind of annoying.
Yep. That's brutal. Uh we can concede here. They they have us locked. Like there's no way we can get through all those cards. Okay, so that was a two three. Not a great showing considering one of our opponents just scooped immediately. So, let's talk about the experiment. I'm going to invoke the uh Ren Stimpy horse and say, "No, sir. I don't like it. I don't think this this is the way you want to play helm. I think it does want to probably be monol black and it does probably want to play ancient tombs. As much as I like just having stable mana, like unfortunately I did get in a situation where I had to fetch. Uh I didn't have to, but I chose to fetch to surveil there to try to get something going. Um it was probably correct to just get an island uh and not risk what happened with us getting completely stuck. We probably could have kept digging and maybe found an answer, but unfortunately once the land got wasted. Um, yeah, I think it was a huge pun actually in retrospect. Uh, I don't know why I surviled there. I should have just grabbed the island. Um, and then we would have been able to not fully flow state, but get one card and clear the extra brainstorm and maybe find a helm and then maybe win. But I suspect they had a brainstorm or I suspect they had a force because of the way they were pausing and stuff. And if they had even one force, it just unravels our entire plan. Like we dark ritual and then we cast it and it doesn't even matter. So I think instead of playing force, we just want to go back to a normal black build.
But this was a fun experiment. Uh I do think flow state is good. If you watch my breakfast video, it's great in Breakfast and it's also apparently great in Doomsday. If you think about it, Doomsday has like Dark Ritual, got lots of sorceries, uh, like Edge of Autumn that it's cycling, so it's pretty easy to get a sorcery in the reveard.
Doomsday itself is a sorcery. I think this card is going to be insane in those combo decks, uh, Breakfast and Doomsday, but I don't think it's insane here. Um, losing to ninjas was kind of a feel bad because in my humble opinion, as somebody who loves ninjas, it is an underpowered deck. Um, and we lost in to like the dirtliest. Okay. Like an ornithopter and a um retrofitter foundry. Like that that was a pretty humiliating loss. Uh, but I I was happy we got at least two wins out of this.
Again, not every experiment is going to be a smashing success. I'm still publishing this in case anybody's wondering, hey, is Helm good with, you know, a blue shell and flow state? I don't know if anybody's ever even tried that before. I think the assumption has always been Helm is a monol black deck, but I wanted to try it. Uh, some other ways you could go with helm, you know, you can watch my initiative helm version. Uh, I do think that profane tutor is like way better than just trying to sift through your deck with cantrips to find it. I also do think that if you're playing this build, you should play four, but then your blue count is so abysmally low that like what are you even doing playing blue, right?
like you've got the force down there, but like I I think I don't feel comfortable playing blue uh playing force in a deck with like fewer than like you know 16 18 and this is like right there at 18. It's like the bare minimum and I usually like to play like at least 24 26 blue cards in my deck to ensure that force is live. Uh as far as the sideboard kit never really came up.
I don't think we ever cast him. Uh we didn't really we we did board in the hydros. We never brought in consign. It may be that consign isn't necessary anymore. It is rarer that I run into artifact decks and we might just be able to straight up race them. So these could potentially be, you know, other hand disruption cards. Toxic deluge felt really bad when, you know, that final round it felt terrible to pay four life and three mana to just to kill a um street wraith that they had gotten out there. So even though like that and and I think that's the ultimate litmus is like if we were just playing mono black I don't think that final round would have been a problem at all. I think it would have been extremely favorable because we had leel line all three games and we kept their moon shadows in check and they may have even playing been playing like nethergo bego way smaller when it's just your graveyard that bego's looking at. So I think overall thoughts mono black for sure is how I'm going to play it. I'm going to show you what my monol black list looks like before I wrap this up. I think this is the list that I played most recently.
It's extremely simple. It's just tons of swamps, Lake of the Dead, which you can get off Profane Tutor, and uh Ilgotten Gains in addition to Helm. That was one of the problems with our build today because we have to have so many blue cards. We couldn't play Ilgotten Gains, and we don't really have a way to accelerate toward Ilgotten Gains. So, uh yeah, I I think something like this would be a lot better.
