Robotic Surgery to Remove the Bladder and Prostate Gland

Robotic radical cystectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for men with bladder cancer that removes the bladder and prostate gland using robotic arms controlled by a surgeon from a console, with the bladder reconstructed using a section of the small intestine in one of three ways: an ileal conduit (urine drains to an external bag), a continent reservoir (urine drains through a catheter), or a neobladder (urine is stored and expelled by abdominal muscle contraction).
