This video provides a clear and sober analysis of tectonic complexity, effectively using the "pressure cooker" metaphor to explain seismic swarms. It successfully educates the public on geological nuances without resorting to the usual doomsday sensationalism.

500 Earthquakes in 2 Days - What’s Happening in Brawley, CaliforniaAdded:
So this is a small town in California coast.
It is near San Diego almost close to Mexico border.
And let's fly there and figure out what's going on. It's a small town with like 29,000 people surrounded by pretty much nothing but farms and something is going on in this town. Mysterious. North of that is the Sultan Sea Lake. So something is happening in this town which is just surrounded by the farms and of course surrounded by the San Diego mountains and south of that is all Mexico border and if you look at it basically you are looking at the Pacific on the left and it is south of San Andreas fault. So let's figure out what is going on here. And it's really mysterious and something that we have not seen before. This town has something unique going on there.
Something mysterious. We are going to get into this details. This is Ray Cosmic Ray. I use my backyard telescopes to connect with the universe. I'm a earth and space researcher and we are going to talk about these mysterious swarm of earthquakes that are happening in one small town.
If you look at what's happening the last few days, today is May 11th. It started on the May 9th and it was going on.
And those things that are pointed as bubbles there, those are all the earthquakes that this small town has to go through. These are close to 432 that we mapped right now that you can see on the screen there. These are 432 earthquakes that this town has to go through. They're not big, they are small. They're they are somewhere in the 4.5 range and they have to go through all these earthquakes here and why did all these earthquakes like a swarm of earthquakes came to this town. So let's understand what really happened in the Broly.
So it started 2 days ago on May 9. Whole bunch of earthquakes came in here in the Broly area. North of Growley is the Sultan city and south of Growley is that Imperial Valley. So this is located the tip of California all the way almost close to the Mexico border. And what really happened here 2 days ago is we started recording several hundreds of earthquakes, very minor ones keep going and the strongest that we recorded is like 4.7 but the almost like hourly earthquake count if you look at it it peaked yesterday quite a bit and almost like it's the ground is shaking.
You can actually see some the city reported that they do have some pipelines that were broken, some minor road damage, uh no injuries but some ground shaking, you know, messing up with the items in the stalls. So there is a an impact that they had noticed and these are all minor bursts of activities that are going on in this area right here. If you take a look at this Broly and why the location is critical for us, we'll get into that.
There is so much going on in the Broly area. If you look at Broly where it is located, it is between several things.
So on the top of it, it is the San Andreas fault. It's a southern side of the San Andreas fault. That's what you are noticing here. You are going to see the San Jinto fall plane. It is there across the Broly all the way from top to the bottom. And then you are seeing on the other side the imperial fault system. So think of Broly is there on the left of it is the San Justinto fault lane on the top of it is the San Andreas fault lane on the right of it it is the imperial fall plane so these are the three different fault systems and Broly is right there it is kind of sandwiched in between and this is called a step over and it is a pressure cooker kind of thing where everything is now compressing or pressing the Broly area and that's why this town is seeing so much action time and time again with those minor earthquakes and let's get into why those are not one big shakeups.
We need to understand what is going on here with this broly and why so many are several hundred earthquakes rather than like one big shock.
So the way these two different things work would be in case of the plate boundary earthquake. You will see the plates are snapped and when one gives up you'll have a big jolt of earthquake and rather than snapping in one is giving up and then you have a huge classic earthquake shock. Now in case of Broly the earthquake swarm this Broly city of Broly is sitting like sandwiched between three different areas three different fault zones on one side it got San Andreas on the left side it got San Jesinto on the right side it got the imperial valley and all these three are putting lot of pressure on this and at the same time the hot liquids like magma, the geothermal vents, all those are moving between these plates. So this fractured thinned crust now creates like smaller fault lanes and the pressure that is out there from these hot liquids, magma and the geothermal vents are going to cause that area the sandwiched area to have several minor earthquakes like the way we are just noticing. The question that we have now is does it mean it is going to follow a major shake or a major earthquake? Is there one that is getting followed? So here is some of the history that we need to know. So the swarm of earthquakes that are coming to Broly they are not new. Back in 1975 there was an event and during that event close to 10.4 kilometers surface area we have seen a rupture growth. Back in 2005 swarm there were thousand earthquakes. Right now we are dealing with close to 500. In 2012 there was another one with 600 earthquakes. very similar to what we are dealing with as well. Now the question is do they follow with a major quake after some of these swarm of earthquakes that tells us if there is one big one coming. So Broly has been going through several of these swarm of earthquakes for the last 100 years or even more. None of these swarm of earthquakes followed with any major earthquake but we are seeing signs of several bigger events that are going on around the seismic activity. So there is no guarantee that there is no big one following because we are seeing some additional seismic activity in the San Andreas fault plane by itself. So we need to keep an eye and see how it is going. If you're interested in watching these videos, please subscribe to my channel.
