Gaming Just Got Interesting Again

[00:00:00]It's June 2026. Sony spent two weeks renting out theaters to show off God of War and Wolverine. And most of the press called it right there. PlayStation won the summer before Xbox even had a chance to step on stage. Then Xbox had their showcase. Asha Sharma steering Xbox in the right direction, bringing back nostalgic titles and innovative exclusives. Hell, she even gave away Xbox Series X25 to fans. If you look down and you have fan on your badge, you'll be getting one for free later this year.

[00:00:35]>> We thought Xbox won the game showcase presentation. But little did we know that Nintendo did what they did best went to cash in their Money in the Bank to steal the show. I'm talking Ocarina of Time remake, Delta Room, Switch Sports Resorts, and me. Oh my, we're getting a Kingdom Hearts 4.

[00:01:12]Hey guys, future PCH here with a quick update. We received a memo from Xbox that is titled Next 100 Days Xbox Reset.

[00:01:22]Asha and Matt highlight the realities of the next 100 days that they'll be facing and it's not looking good. The bottom line is that unfortunately they will be laying off a lot of people. It's heartbreaking. It sucks especially after they gain such momentum and a lot of faith of the community back. But that's the reality of the situation. I know in the video that you're watching there's a lot of Asha Sharma glaze and look it is really unfortunate. You know we got to face the reality of the situation. Our hearts go out to everyone that will be affected by this. That's all the news I got for you. We're going back.

[00:01:54]>> But before we get into the games, let's talk about Phil Spencer because he retired in February 2026 after 38 years at Microsoft. He's the guy that steadied the brand after the Xbox One era went, you know how it went. It went sideways.

[00:02:09]But the last few years under him were very rough. Game Pass prices went up.

[00:02:13]First party games showing up on PlayStation, and there was that weird campaign where everything was an Xbox. I don't I still don't get it. My toaster is not an Xbox. But I digress. This was not a great stretch. Everyone assumed his number two would take over.

[00:02:29]Microsoft went with Asha Sharma, head of their core AI division. No gaming background at all. Not a good look. The reaction was not warm. Even one of the guys who worked on the original Xbox publicly compared her to essentially the Grim Reaper and it being game over for Xbox. Her response to all of it basically is this. I'm not here to be the best gamer. I'm here to make Xbox worth playing again. And then she started her reign by cutting the Game Pass price. She also killed the whole this is an Xbox marketing campaign.

[00:03:03]Thank God. And she set up a fan feedback portal. She started also bi-weekly console updates. She also hired Matthew Ball as chief strategy officer and outright said that exclusivity is back on the table for Xbox. None of that small stuff. She did this one real fast and the showcase itself was her first big public moment. She and Matt Booty came out to the LA FanFest and announced that every single person there with a fan badge was getting a free 25th anniversary Xbox Series X25. The room loved it. [00:03:50]Who knows? The big strategic story out of this showcases are the exclusives.

[00:03:54]For a couple of years, Xbox games kept going to PlayStation, talking Halo, Starfield, Avowed. The obvious question became, why buy an Xbox? And Microsoft didn't really have a clean answer.

[00:04:06]Meanwhile, Sony made their own move. In May of 2026, studio boss Herman Hulse told PlayStation staff that their narrative singleplayer games would stop coming to PC. We're talking Marvel's Wolverine, God of War, Lao Fate, PlayStation only. Both companies basically at the same moment decided platform Identity was worth fighting for again. From Xbox's side, Gears of War Eday and Clockwork Revolution are both confirmed as permanent Xbox exclusives.

[00:04:38]And worth clarifying, console exclusives for Xbox still means you can play on Xbox Series X and S or PC through the Microsoft Store. Xbox is not locking out the PC players. So Asha Sharma, thank you once again. Everything's an Xbox still. Maybe they were on to something.

[00:04:57]To quote, "We want people to choose Xbox over PlayStation because of great games and experiences. That also means giving you something that was made for Xbox."

[00:05:08]And folks, let's talk about a big reason to get an Xbox, which is Gears of War eay. Holy smokes, it got its own dedicated direct after the showcase, which should tell you that they are betting the farm on this title. And when was the last time we had a true addition to the franchise, a true Gears of War, not the remakes or remasters, none of that. Did you see the slides? Did you see they can jump?

[00:05:34]>> They can jump now. They can jump in the big 2026. You can jump. We're going back to Eay. This has been referenced to high heavens in the whole franchise. And now we're going to see the creation of how Marcus Phoenix and Dom Santiago became actual brothers. I'm all for it. Also, just some tea. Jeff Crub did report that hours before the showcase that the PS5 version got quietly cancelled under Chararma. That's a meaningful decision.

[00:06:00]She had the option to ship it everywhere to make more money, but she didn't. We are going to get that day one. Xbox. I need to save up for it. I need to save up for you guys. This one's a bit weird.

[00:06:12]The remake of the original Halo game is actually coming to PS5 as well, so not an exclusive. New content on top of the base game, though. Three prequel missions set 1 year before the events of first Halo, plus spaceflight combat.

[00:06:26]Again, this is coming out in July 28th, 5 days early if you pre-order on July 23. So, PS5 fans, enjoy. I guess this one has been in the we promise it exists category since 2020. Finally, we have a release date for Fable. It's on February 23rd, 2027, avoiding the blast radius of GTA 6. The new trailer showed the game's villain, which is Isabelle, played by Haley Atwell, most known for her Peggy Carter performance in the MCU. It's very much gritty, very sardonic, very British. Hey, what can I say? After 5 years of waiting, I'm just glad that we have a release date. I'm looking forward to Fable. Up next, we got Spyro: A Realm Beyond from Toys for Bob, the studio that did the Spyro Reignited trilogy.

[00:07:12]They're making a completely new Spyro game. First original entry in nearly 20 years. The last game was Dawn of the Dragon back in 2008. Main thing here is that they're pushing actual flight. Who knew? A dragon game and you could fly.

[00:07:32]Tom Kenny is back as the voice. It's on multiplatforms, PS5, Switch 2, PC, and Xbox. So, nobody's missing out on this one. Metroid Vania fans, listen up because this one is for you. Evil Empire, the studio behind Dead Cells, is bringing us a new Castlevania in Belmont's Curse. This is the 26th installment in the franchise. I didn't know there were that many. [00:08:06]So, Doom: The Dark Ages getting a DLC, not a sequel. The first DLC, the Dooms Slayer, is getting pulled into his old mind, new demons, and a new weapon called the Chain Sphere. This is dropping on July 7th, so look out for that. And now for the quick fire around, just mention some games that were featured in the game show, but didn't quite make a big impression. So, we're going to start things off with Minecraft Dungeons 2 dropping on September 29th.

[00:08:34]I'll be honest, I didn't know there was a first Minecraft Dungeon, but we do have a expert here in Alchhat that said the first Minecraft Dungeons was pretty good. Played like 2 hours of it. We also have State of Decay 3, and they finally showed us some gameplay and confirmed a 2027 release date with a fourplayer co-op. Shout outs to my zombie shooter friends out there. And we're moving on.

[00:08:57]Ninja Theory revealed a new game set in the Hellblade universe that's going to be out in 2027. We're talking about Senena chat, let me know. Worth checking out, worth not not so familiar with the Hellblade universe, but trailer looked hype. I'm excited for it. Last but not least, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 dropping on October 23rd. It's set in Korea, and the dude from uh Beef, he's there. Yeah. Holy smokes, folks. Is Is my clock working? Is it Hello. Hello. Is it working? It's time to talk about Clockwork Revolution, another Xbox console exclusive, also for PC. Asha Sharma's got us, guys. In Excel Entertainment, the Fallout veterans who made Wasteland 3 have been working on this since they showed it in 2023.

[00:09:42]Firsterson action RPG set in a steampunk city called Avalon, built around time travel. The mechanic is that changing the past changes the people around you, not just the world. So, the crew you come back to might not be the same one you left with. Where can I get this device? Anyway, this is a new IP Xbox console exclusive. Folks, this is an easy, easy day one. Let's all get this.

[00:10:08]Okay, you're probably wondering why I'm wearing green. It's because I'm shouting out Nate the Hate and also shouting out the biggest surprise of the night. Atlas dropped the first Persona 6 trailer at the Xbox showcase. Big confidence on the side of Xbox getting this trailer is trailer. It was all green. Anyway, no gameplay, no date, just uh whole lot of green. There are darker tones since Persona 3, and they're heavy on graveyard imagery. Atlas has been filing copyright strikes against the leakers for weeks. Some people saw this coming, and it is coming to Xbox, PS5, and PC.

[00:10:43]Also, Persona 4 Revival got a release date, February 18, 2027. That's a loaded month for JRPG fans. Over the last few years, the argument of owning an Xbox got harder to make. Their own games were going everywhere. Game Pass kept getting more expensive, and the brand identity felt genuinely confused. This showcase didn't fix all of that, but it was a clear step in a different direction.

[00:11:08]Eday not being on PlayStation, two confirmed exclusive titles, Persona on their stage. These are actual commitments, not just messaging and not just flowery words. PS5 players who picked up Gears of War Reloaded expecting to follow the series are now being told no. That's going to frustrate some people, but at least that means you got reasons to own an Xbox. Whether it's enough to change the gap between Xbox and PlayStation, it's probably not going to happen in the near future. But it's a better position than they were 12 months ago. And we all have to thank Asha Sharma. But little did she know that Nintendo was going to steal the show. 50 minutes, folks. 50 minutes of relentless game trailers and releases is how I can describe Nintendo Direct. Now, Nintendo has a choice. Do they stay in their lane and watch on the sidelines as Xbox and Sony juke it out, or do they join the console war and actually claim themselves as the console king? because I'm here to tell you the games that they've released kind of seem that way and we could be in for a triple threat for who's going to be the console king.

[00:12:18]So, let's get to the titles. Starting it off with Ocarina of Time remake. We called it. We saw how this is going to just break the internet. Our childhoods are back. Moving on to Star Fox June 25 release date after the Super Mario Galaxy movie. This is a welcome addition. Look out for it. Oo, Fire Emblem. Fortunes weave. Going to go back to the world of Three Houses. I heard that some might say, maybe me, that this is a dating sim disguised as a tactics game. I don't know, but you guys can check it out September 17th dropping this year. The Dusk Bloods Firm Soft having an exclusive title drop for Switch 2 says a lot. We're going to move on to Delta Rune Chapter 5 on June 24.

[00:13:02]In the big year of 2026, we're getting the next chapter in this beloved franchise. Gonna move on now to Xenolade Genesis. Another one in the franchise. I haven't played the Xenolade games, but heard some good things about it. These are also making its way towards the Switch. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, Metal Gear Solid, Master Collection, Dragons Dogma 2, Final Fantasy Resonance, all going to the Switch. Last but not least, oh, we're getting Kingdom Hearts 4. I'm done. I'm done. I'm I'm done. I'm done. Whoa. We've waited. We I I used to pray for times like this. DMC fans, where you at now? Where you at now? We're here. Kingdom Hearts 4, baby.

[00:13:43]Okay. Uh, we calm down. I was I cleaned up the place. Back to my original train of thought. The Switch 2 back half of 2026 is genuinely stacked. Nintendo's in a strong spot going into the rest of the year. So, that's summer of 2026. A lot is happening across all three platforms.
