So a lot of times these officers just don't know what they're doing. The six weeks of training just don't suffice. It don't. But y'all do that to have qualified immunity. I understand. Y'all y'all tell people when y'all pull them over that ignorance of the law is no excuse. But then y'all get qualified immunity in court for not knowing the same laws. The judge will give you a slap on the wrist. And then it's it's it's it's justified then, right? That's crazy. Y'all get qualified immunity for not knowing the law, but then y'all turn around and tell the citizens, "Oh, that's no reason. Just cuz you didn't know it, that don't mean it's not illegal. Y'all go in court and that hold up for y'all. So, I don't really understand the system when it come to that.

[00:15:27]>> All right. There you go. What starts as a simple stop for expired tags quickly turns into a scene that leaves a lot of people asking one question. Why is the passenger suddenly being treated like a criminal? Instead of a quick citation and a drive safe, officers allegedly pull both men out of the truck, place them in the back of patrol cars, and even begin searching a passenger who wasn't driving and according to the man recording, had nothing to do with the violation in the first place. That's when a concerned citizen steps in and starts doing something most people are too afraid to do, speaking up. Camera rolling. He reminds the passenger not to consent to searches. Explains that passengers generally don't have the same obligations as drivers during a traffic stop and repeatedly tells them to get badge numbers and file complaints if their rights are violated. But instead of answers, the tension only grows. The officer rolls the windows up. Backup shows up. And now what was supposedly an expired tag stop suddenly looks a whole lot more serious than anyone expected.

[00:16:28]The man filming doesn't let it go. He challenges the officers in real time, questioning why a passenger was searched, why IDs were demanded, and why this stop escalated so fast. In his view, this wasn't policing. This was an officer going fishing, assuming two black men in an old truck had to be guilty of something more. And maybe the biggest takeaway from this entire encounter is simple. Record everything.

If there's private information in public view, it's on the facility to secure it, not the responsibility of the cameraman to avoid it. As the situation escalated, officers from Pulk County arrived, and that's when things went from bad to worse. The unlawful detainment began, all while these officers refused to articulate what crime had been committed. Then, predictably, they demanded ID without reasonable suspicion of a crime, a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment.

[00:28:54]What's even more telling is the demeanor of these officers. Sheriff Grady Jud even placed his hand on his firearm, as if exercising constitutional rights somehow warranted deadly force. That's the reality of policing in America.
